    As an aditional note: GM Modules that require SPS2 to program have a symbol of a Car with 2 Arrows in opposite direction and a Wrench in the bottom. Thats a good way to identify them.
    This Symbol exists on the Identification label of the module (ECMs, External TCMs, BCM, EBCM, etc), and some are in the casing of the module itself (IPCs, HVAC, Internal TCMs, etc).

    I want to add... you definitely saved my sanity!!! I had to program a new abs module on my 2019 equinox 2.0 turbo. Having all of this vital information walked me right through getting my car operational again! This whole process cost me about 1500.. parts and all, but i did have to purchase a viable laptop to perform this task. But everything went as you described! Thanks again for all your time help and support!!😊

    I bought all the equipment from snapon 10 yrs. ago and went through holy hell setting up subscription. I see it's still the same bs to get set up.😢 The problem is old boomer fossils like me didn't grow up in the computor age, so navigating to even get started is very challenging for us. When I first tried yrs. ago, it took snapon tech over 2 hrs. to even get an account set up! Nah, its easier to call Mike the program guy.😅150-200 dollars, done next day! Yeah I could learn it, I used to run a nuclear power plant on a submarine! Point is I'm tired of being frutrated by nonsense nonsence😢No disrespect to anyone but it doesn't need to be that hard to do. I really think the manufactures make you jump through hoops, because they really don't want privates shops programming. Just me old ass boomer opinion😂❤

    In a recent fse meeting we were told the programming actually gets written after the vehicle is powered down. For that reason you are supposed to turn ignition off prior to a setup. Otherwise the setup is actually done on the old programming . You might have error codes 2 days later. The new vehicles automatically ask you to turn off ignition.
    Also...... if the module has a tag that has the wrench symbol....no matter the brand...there is a 99.99993% chance it needs programming.

    • @autodiagyt
      @autodiagyt  Рік тому +4

      This is why it’s important to read your service information completely before attempting to program something. But I’m not sure where fse got their information but with most GM vehicles when a module is being programmed it will force a reboot at the end and check software verifications. Newer global a vehicles when you start programming it sends out a command on the network to put all the other modules to sleep while the data is being written to the module. The newest vehicles are now programmed ignition off and a wake-up signal sent to only the module needed programmed. But also like I said in the beginning this is only for GM vehicles each manufacturer does it differently so service information is important.

    • @PandaMan02
      @PandaMan02 Рік тому +1

      newer vehicles tell you to turn the vehicle off because it lets modules go to sleep and you're only talking to the module you want programmed. supposedly it makes it faster. its just for the newest GM module network.

      @@autodiagyt the field service engineers said they were having vehicles return after a programming event which looked like setup was not done. A code was given for setup. But it was for old calibration. When a vehicle comes in for 3 programs for abs module or ebcm . To get your 0.3 you could program it then program again for another campaign then program for another campaign without turning the ignition off. You get a programming code for each time. If you turn off the ignition after the first programming you are blocked from reprogram.

    • @autodiagyt
      @autodiagyt  Рік тому +1

      @@charliemagoo7943 that sounds more like a glitch or a tech not doing their job. The server is going to give you the most up to date calibration so if it’s in for a recall to reprogram it’s going to be the most current. So they shouldn’t be reprogramming the module multiple times. What it sounds like it’s one of the updates wipes out the learned setup and configurations and the techs are not doing it after the update. I can remember one ebcm recall that after the update the brake pads life would get messed up and you had to relearn it or you would get a service brakes massage. Don’t put a whole lot of trust into what a fse tells you the engineer part of their title doesn’t actually me they are any type of engineer. In a lot of cases they are just techs that excelled in diagnostics and applied for the job opening. No actual engineering qualifications are required.

      It used to be easy to do but they changed it and I'm not sure if the aftermarket has access to it anymore but I'll look and see. Hi there, thank you for the informative video. I am just an old analog D’Arsonval meter movement wrench from the 60s 70s 80s. I am 78 and have a 22Chevy Silverado 3500. Is it possible to add opitions like the ventalated seats to the BCM? I have seats with the ventalated fans and such and have changed the climate control switch dash panel. Also is the harness different to that climate control modul? Or is this too much to get done and I so I should just go buy a different truck?

    • @autodiagyt
      @autodiagyt  22 дні тому

      GM doesn’t play well with “retro fitting” is it possible yes but is it easily done? Absolutely not. GM only will support upgrades they sell through the GM accessories catalog. To get the software in the modules changed to activate the I/O for those changes would take a software engineer and that’s going to be your limitations in most situations. So yeah I would say in 95% trying to add an option is going to be impossible for most people.

    • @autodiagyt
      @autodiagyt  Рік тому

      The drewtech is the most approved jbox on the market but even it falls short sometimes. I would say if you are just getting into programming it's the best to get you started but as you progress start buying the oe interfaces. The best advice I can give you is to remember that with an aftermarket jbox the only thing that is required by US right to repair is being able to program a brand new ECM(or PCM) and TCM, nothing else is required and may or may not work. However with the OE interface and OE software you have what the dealer techs have.

Ie. 2022 Express did not come with Keyless Remotes, but has power door locks and TPMS sensors. According to GM Upfitters site, that's all that's needed to have a FOB. Therefore the rest is programmable. I have not invested in that equipment but plan to if such programming is possible - just haven't seen any screens where "active" would be toggled. Which pass-thru that you have is most universal for other makes, do you wish that you had a different pass-thru that does even more makes? Where Might RPO Tags be located for cars and trucks? Is there a free website to explain GM RPOs OR Does a paid version of this programming stuff give access for 24 months (RPOs)? Everything you showed was from the laptop, online, Jbox. Will a scan tool be needed, if yes, in the near future, a follow-up video please Sir based on other comments here?
    If you and 20 friends/customers have the same/similar GM, are there modules that are GM specific BUT NOT VIN specific that DO need programming that if I have a pay subscription on my VIN, I can program a simple module for a friend from my vehicle?? then xfer it to their vehicle? Much Appreciated Brother.

    • @autodiagyt
      @autodiagyt  Рік тому +1

      At some point I’ll do a second part for doing updates and some used modules(possibly). As for Jbox the cardaq 3 is the most universally supported but it’s not perfect, none of them are unless it’s the OE tool and even then there can be issues. So if the cardaq won’t do something I just get the OE tool. Like for instance Nissan Consult R2R the cardaq(or any other aftermarket jbox) will not see key cycles on push button vehicles right now. It’s a glitch on Nissans side that they are aware of and “working on it” for over a year now that I know of. There is also a lot of other limitations in consult R2R so I recently just bought the VI3 so I have full access to consult and no issues. As for programming modules on your vin for a different vehicle, the way gm organizes calibration files is based on vin attributes(rpo codes) so if it’s a module that vin doesn’t matter yes you could program it through you vin but both vehicles would have to be the same to pull the current calibration files and that’s gonna depend on which module is related to what rpo codes. As for is a scan tool needed no and yes. If a module like an ebcm is replaced the setup will handle all the functions needed to do the module 100% same with a bcm or anything else. The only one I know of that is an exception is crank variation learn when a new ecm is programmed. Sometimes there is a setup option that runs you trough it and sometimes it’s not there. Idk why but that’s the only thing I can remember not being there sometimes, there might be more but for the most part gm was pretty good about putting everything in setup through sps because they don’t want you having to jump back and forth between programming software and scantool software. The rpo code I think is free on the ACDelco website but I did cover it a little bit in the newest Malibu video on where to find it in cars.

    I have reprogrammed before my 2010 TCM module via the online SPS programming TIS2web with the paid service using my VCXnano from Vxdiag.
    I have 2 work vans
    2010 Chevy Express 4.8L and
    2016 Chevy Express 4.8L.
    These vans if I recall correctly having the same engine, transmission, and everything. My main question is, would it be okay to look at DTCs and reset or relearn via the GDS2 application for a 2010? Supposedly, any vehicle before 2013 you need to use Tech2Win, but I selected 2014-2016 years on my GDS2 for my 2010 vehicle and all the modules populated along with DTCs and options to test the components. So basically, is it okay to use a gds2 2014+ vehicle type on a 2010 Chevrolet Express van?

    I do have XT6 after collision. I have put back the short range front radars. Now I'm getting error that those radars are in wrong places (swapped). So I though OK, SPS and resetting them should solve the problem, but I cannot reprogram them with the same calibration numbers and I can't see the option for reset/relearn. The sensor has exact part numbers, there is no dedicated part for left or right side. Did I missed something? Do I really need to remove bumper to swap them again? :)

I've checked all the programming info (as you suggested in this video) in alldata and it simple says: "On the SPS Supported Controllers screen, select B233 Radar Sensor Module - Short Range - Programming and follow the on-screen instructions." Because of the calibration is same I cannot reprogram it. I think I will drop the bumper and swap them as supposed. I was hope I can do easily via SPS but it seems I can do only with new modules.
      Even more the ACDelco locked my account due to using MDI2 clone, not genuine. I've ordered genuine one now so will be able to play with it lol.

I was troubleshooting for a body shop(they missed a pinched harness), during my research I remember reading the driver and passenger rear were the same sensor. The solution was to plug in each sensor and flash as a driver module, one at a time. Then put the sensors in their correct locations. Could be worth looking into, just check which side is the master
