it can read and write EPROM data from the old ecu to new ecu for both Mercedes and BMW.But cant do online calibration for both cars.You can do BMW and Mercedes programming if you have old ECUs.Thats where G-BOX 2 comes in. Guys do not worry,the IM608 J2534 can do BMW & Mercedes Benz online calibration /Programming at maximum of $60 for daily subscription
What I do like about it is going into older ford models pats system to add keys if there all lost, you can’t do a all keys lost you have to go into diagnostics and go to security, and you can add key when it shuts down fords, like 2000 to 2007

@12:20 MaxiSys Elite does allow to read mechanical key cut code for brands which allows it ! But I have to admit that AFAIK, only BMW (using CAS2-3-3+) and some Opel/GM do have this option ... @13:00 MaxiSys Elite does allow to program many european key that can be programmed by the dealer ! (not all, of course) and it does requires the PIN code... I frequently do VW, Audi, Opel, Peugeot, Citroen, Fiat,... without problem. What it CAN'T do is read most pin code, and program keys that require precoding, or that comes already progrogrammed from the factory (BMWs, Mercedes, etc)
HI Michael, Thats great to know. I know on VW i can get the PIN code with the elite but I was never able to do any key coding with it becaue the function was never there. Maybe you should share with us how this is done because the engineers ( and what I have seen) the tool didnt have any key coding options on a big majority of the euro vehicles. I just dont want people to think that the elite has equal capability as the im608 in terms of key coding because its huge difference.
Autel Consultancy you can use it like a traditional dealer tool (or equivalent). for VW it’s like VCDS process (check Ross Tech website, they have a full part about immo). For Peugeot or Citroen or Fiat, it will work perfectly but ask for PIN code... which Élite can’t get, but IM508 yes. In dealership, the diag tool don’t give the pin. They need to use another web interface or CODE CARD if available. But of course it has nothing to compare with IMx08. I’m a locksmith, have tons of locksmith tools, and still use Elite very often!
I have performed an all keys lost function on an older Honda Accord with the elite. Changed the cylinder and the elite took care of it with no issues when having to program the new keys
Great job you half assed it now the customer has two sets of keys for the car........ Next time have a locksmith code it to the originals or just repair the old one........

I purchased my elite 2 year June 6, 2018, and my subscription expires June 6, 2020, i had no idea i could had programmed BMW and Benz, because like U.S i thought i'd need a separate subscription and laptop. It's sucks because i was ask a few times if i can program few BMWs and Benz and I said no. I didn't know the subscription was through my autel. Because of this i lost money. I have a Benz came to me last week 2007 S550 and the ISM is no good. for some reason it was bringing down some of the network. After i unplugged it the computers that were off line came back up. I waiting on the new module and for the first time i will try using the Elite to program it! If i have trouble i know who to call. ;)

I wonder since the IM508 and IM608 has been released that Autel has started gradually degrading some of the key programming capability of the Maxisys in order to create more need for shop to buy a more specialized platform.
They are actualy doing the opposite. They are adding key coding functions to the Elite software . I have a projected plan on when they are implementing some of these features. But its always going to be a level 2 out of 5 while the IM608 is 5 of 5

Curtis , Did Autel ever follow through offering ECU programming from off the MaxiSys Elite tablet for Volkswagen Audi Group vehicles like it does for BMW and Mercedes vehicles or just limited to some coding?. Seemed to remember Support mentioning over a year ago that it was adding programming for Volkswagen and Audi for MS908P and Elite .

Its hard to if the module needs programming or just coding with out looking at the repair information first. If your sure it need flash programming then you need the witech software. If it just needs a configuration procedure then you need to if the Autel Im608 can do it. I charge to vin special function request so I recommend contacting autel to see if its covered. If it does need to be flash programmed I can train you on how to do it for 200 USD . Witech software is 125 USD for 3 days access.

Hey Jeremy, Yes you do have an option if you already have an Elite. You can consider the IM508. Its a stripped down version of the IM608 . The 508 doesnt have the advanced diagnostic software and it doesnt have the j2534. So what you are investing in is the key coding software. Its much cheaper in price at 1800 USD

Remember 98% of programming is done with a laptop and the j2534 ( you dont use the tablet) If programming on these 2 manufactures is not important.. Then you can get the IM608. If you need bmw and benz programming programming then get the Elite and also the IM508. Regarding good Australian distributor I dont know anyone that offers the same services as I do. What I would suggest if you want my support is to do what my Asutralian clients do and thats order the tool from me. This way I can ensure you get the right tool and help you get results after you recieve the tool. There are some additional accesories that Autel is making that I can offer in your kit that your local distributor doesnt know about.
I am based in U.K. So how do you implement warranty issues for overseas customers? You can offer additional accessories other resellers can't? You are the choosen one, me thinks not. Hey Papi , It depends on the year of the vehicle. I noticed on older vehicles you can use used modules . On new vehicles you may need a new one. I have the elite and im508 I did that so I can have programming for bmw and do what the 608 can do mostly besides cas4 bmw and Benz. Being able to keep adding micro sd cards are huge I’d rather have that then 64gb

Scott Tim you can do cas4 bmw, Benz (need adapter) and Audi. They say it doesn’t to VW but it does. I’m ok with that though. I love the 508 if I didn’t have the elite I might of bought the 608 but I can do more with the elite and 508.

Scott Tim hi the adapter is for BENZ and it looks like a Benz key and it connects to the scanner. You can also buy nust the x400 scanner if you really want to do cas4 bmw too. The software from the 508&608 are identical. No difference at all.
@@AutelConsultancy Thank you for replying. So my truck won’t crank, it has all power, the lights, blower motor, everything works except no start. I’ve changed out the starter, the ignition switch and the neutral safety switch and still doing the same thing. I’ve even checked all of the fuses and they’re all good. When I turn the switch I can hear the starter relay click but that’s it. I connected an OBDII to the diagnostic connection and it says it can’t communicate with the system. That being said do you think it could be the PCM? When i connect the OBDII up to the connector, it actually powers it up but it keeps saying it can’t establish a communication. I did pull the starter relay out and jump those two pins and it will engage the starter and turn the engine over but of course it still won’t start. I have no idea what else it could be. Please help.

HI Joselos, The Im608 doesnt have BMW or Benz Programming available on the tablet. Programming is when you inject a calibration file into a module from a server. The IM608 doesnt have access ( on the diagnostic side) of autels servers . Hey might have used the j2534 or used the xp400 to execute it on the bench. I wasnt there but all I know is that programming is not available on the im608 accourding to the engineers.

Did you actually watch? 30 minute video, not 45. If you didn't gather the difference between the two you should probably not be working on cars at all, well maybe oil changes and tires but leave the keys and programming to your competition. If everything has to be spelled out for you, you're not going to figure it out.
The only reason Autel won't allow German car programming and oscilloscope features on the IM608 is to increase profits for Autel. I remember when transponder key programming tools first became popular. A company called Advanced Diagnostic was charging close to $10,000 for a scan tool with all the software upgrades to configure cars to recognize new transponder keys. That same tool is now obsolete, and is being cloned in China and sold for a few hundred dollars online. Just goes to show how much the actual hardware is worth. As soon as these electronic tool companies get a corner on the market they start charging technicians an arm and leg for a few lines of code like the ability to retrieve the key code on some cars. If technicians knew how much Autel paid for the hardware they're charging thousands for they would all become sick to their stomachs. Its too bad it work like this.....
IM608 can be used with the MP408 Scope. It couldn't to begin with, but now it can. As for Programming with the IM608 I doubt there would be many shops that would be prepared to pay for an 'all in one' tool (Hell I even get complaints that the MS906BT is too dear!) Plus the idea of having multipul tools so you can work on more than one car at a time is more practicle for most workshops who run more than one tech. Yes Autel is out to make money - What business isn't. With ALL Scantools Hardware would only be 10% at best of teh actual cost of the tool. Most of the money would be in wages of the 100's of R&D tech WORLDWIDE getting code and rewriting it to suit their Scantool, and then there would also be licencing fees to teh OEM's (and that won't be cheap).
HI Edwin, I asume you have the ds708? Well if thats the case the only option you have is to see if you can purchase an update subscription to install the new software into a new SD card. But the cost of an update is not justifiable since your tool may not be supported anymore. In the future if you dont want to get into this situation again you can order through me . Alot of guys say they same thing when trying to find a woman..Its like trying to find a unicorn as they simply dont exist lol. On a serious note most people in my opinion dont pick the right tool in the first place. Or if the tool they select is missing a feature they need, they might overpay for a tool that they really didnt need. The best thing I would recommend is to get a tool strategy. This way you can get the right tool that will do most of what you need and also strategy of other tools that solve special problems.

I couldn’t program a blank key 2008 Mbz s550 I had original key but key did not work but I had blank key but couldn’t program I was very upset spending all that money that didn’t do the job I used the new 608 I paid 3200 something
HI Sagad, Why dont you report it to the supplier who sold you the tool? I understand your frustrated but unfortunetly I did not sell you this tool so I wasnt able to help troubleshoot the situation and give a reason why the IM608 didnt execute the procedure. There are many variables why it didnt work . All I can say is let this be a teachable lesson to ask your supplier (before you purchase) if they offer over the shoulder training and troubleshooting. Othwerise the vehicles are too complex to want to do this stuff alone and sometimes (even for me) my engineer is the only one who can educate me and my client as to why its not working.

hello there i have Autel Elite , today i was trying to make a new key to my Hyundai ix35 , so i went to immobilizer using my Elite after that i went to password teaching and changing , and i put a 1234 , after that the car is not turning on and i cant go back and change the password one more time , when im trying its telling me that ( not accepted by invalid key or locked smartra please check the system ) can you help me somehow ?

Generally speaking you can use the im608 doesnt need a subscription in order to work. But there are some manufactuers that requre a valid subscription in order to connect to the interent to do the key learning proceedure.

Its hard to say with out diagnosing your thoroughly, but typically buying a used module is risky as you dont know what "baggage" is associated with it. And the only way to fix those issues is to buy an update. So your cost is just as much as a new one.

The Elite probably lacks the immobilizer key programming functions where an XP 400 would be required to perform the key programming . XP 400 is not included as an optional Elite adapter.

I currently have the DS708, MS908, IM608 & 2 Autel TS508's. We do full service car-care, Automotive Locksmithing, and Collision repair so we are high volume and always upgrading. My question for you is: if I buy from you, what kind of support will I get? I mean right now I have to call Autel and work with them but I feel like when I buy a product from a vendor I would really feel better buying it from a guy like you who is always hands on with the product. My 908 is out of date and my intentions is to not update at this time but replace the hardware then add the adas system with targets.

Say your girlfriend has a Newer Volkswagen , your can program batteries, that was cool, I own a locksmith Company so that’s why I’m talking on here, but like you go buy battery for 2018 Volkswagen Tig , auto zone or advance auto say they can install battery, they can’t because battery has to be programmed into it on them models!

Will the IM508 and 608 Synchronize a new replaced antenna on ie; 2004 Dodge Caravan or the Fobik ignition box on a ie: 2012 Dodge ram. Or does this procedure still have to go to the dealer to get programmed in?

It would be nice if Autel or any scan tool company would release separate special test function updates or special tests ..say if you wanted a steering angle reset and you could buy it separately from Autel for a price and download and install it on you’re scan tool..

@13:00 MaxiSys Elite does allow to program many european key that can be programmed by the dealer ! (not all, of course) and it does requires the PIN code...
I frequently do VW, Audi, Opel, Peugeot, Citroen, Fiat,... without problem.
What it CAN'T do is read most pin code, and program keys that require precoding, or that comes already progrogrammed from the factory (BMWs, Mercedes, etc)
HI Michael, Thats great to know. I know on VW i can get the PIN code with the elite but I was never able to do any key coding with it becaue the function was never there. Maybe you should share with us how this is done because the engineers ( and what I have seen) the tool didnt have any key coding options on a big majority of the euro vehicles. I just dont want people to think that the elite has equal capability as the im608 in terms of key coding because its huge difference.
Autel Consultancy you can use it like a traditional dealer tool (or equivalent).
for VW it’s like VCDS process (check Ross Tech website, they have a full part about immo).
For Peugeot or Citroen or Fiat, it will work perfectly but ask for PIN code... which Élite can’t get, but IM508 yes.
In dealership, the diag tool don’t give the pin. They need to use another web interface or CODE CARD if available.
But of course it has nothing to compare with IMx08.
I’m a locksmith, have tons of locksmith tools, and still use Elite very often!
I have performed an all keys lost function on an older Honda Accord with the elite. Changed the cylinder and the elite took care of it with no issues when having to program the new keys
yes , asian and american vehicles you can do these key coding functions. On the European you cant however with the Elite

They're just being greedy and doing a s*** job for their customers. Now since the mechanic has changed the ignition the car no longer matches we now have two keys for the car. Not the customer loses the key it's 10 times harder to make a key for the car because the keys in the car no longer match. YOU are doing your customers a disservice by doing a half-ass job that you should not be doing anyway send it to a damn locksmith you.
Send away jobs YOU CANNOT DO PROPERLY.
STOP DOING IGNITION CHANGES THAT CHANGE THE KEY FROM THE ORIGINAL YOU IDIOTS. THIS IS HALF ASSED GARBAGE WORK.
A LOCKSMITH WILL JUST CODE THE IGNITION TO THE CAR OR JUST FIX THE OLD ONE. 99.99% of these ignitions can be repaired you just have no idea how And you sure dont have the tools

The client learns a skill that he can apply on the next job and more important his customer his happy. I purchased my elite 2 year June 6, 2018, and my subscription expires June 6, 2020, i had no idea i could had programmed BMW and Benz, because like U.S i thought i'd need a separate subscription and laptop. It's sucks because i was ask a few times if i can program few BMWs and Benz and I said no. I didn't know the subscription was through my autel. Because of this i lost money. I have a Benz came to me last week 2007 S550 and the ISM is no good. for some reason it was bringing down some of the network. After i unplugged it the computers that were off line came back up. I waiting on the new module and for the first time i will try using the Elite to program it! If i have trouble i know who to call. ;)

I wonder since the IM508 and IM608 has been released that Autel has started gradually degrading some of the key programming capability of the Maxisys in order to create more need for shop to buy a more specialized platform.
They are actualy doing the opposite. They are adding key coding functions to the Elite software . I have a projected plan on when they are implementing some of these features. But its always going to be a level 2 out of 5 while the IM608 is 5 of 5

Its hard to if the module needs programming or just coding with out looking at the repair information first. If your sure it need flash programming then you need the witech software. If it just needs a configuration procedure then you need to if the Autel Im608 can do it. I charge to vin special function request so I recommend contacting autel to see if its covered. If it does need to be flash programmed I can train you on how to do it for 200 USD . Witech software is 125 USD for 3 days access.

Hey Jeremy, Yes you do have an option if you already have an Elite. You can consider the IM508. Its a stripped down version of the IM608 . The 508 doesnt have the advanced diagnostic software and it doesnt have the j2534. So what you are investing in is the key coding software. Its much cheaper in price at 1800 USD

@@jeremystone6613 Hey Jeremy. If you specialize on BMW and BENZ then it will be good to invest in the ELITE to have access to the programming software. Remember 98% of programming is done with a laptop and the j2534 ( you dont use the tablet) If programming on these 2 manufactures is not important.. Then you can get the IM608. If you need bmw and benz programming programming then get the Elite and also the IM508. Regarding good Australian distributor I dont know anyone that offers the same services as I do. What I would suggest if you want my support is to do what my Asutralian clients do and thats order the tool from me. This way I can ensure you get the right tool and help you get results after you recieve the tool. There are some additional accesories that Autel is making that I can offer in your kit that your local distributor doesnt know about.

Scott Tim you can do cas4 bmw, Benz (need adapter) and Audi. They say it doesn’t to VW but it does. I’m ok with that though. I love the 508 if I didn’t have the elite I might of bought the 608 but I can do more with the elite and 508.

Scott Tim hi the adapter is for BENZ and it looks like a Benz key and it connects to the scanner. You can also buy nust the x400 scanner if you really want to do cas4 bmw too. The software from the 508&608 are identical. No difference at all.

@@AutelConsultancy Thank you for replying. So my truck won’t crank, it has all power, the lights, blower motor, everything works except no start. I’ve changed out the starter, the ignition switch and the neutral safety switch and still doing the same thing. I’ve even checked all of the fuses and they’re all good. When I turn the switch I can hear the starter relay click but that’s it. I connected an OBDII to the diagnostic connection and it says it can’t communicate with the system. That being said do you think it could be the PCM? When i connect the OBDII up to the connector, it actually powers it up but it keeps saying it can’t establish a communication. I did pull the starter relay out and jump those two pins and it will engage the starter and turn the engine over but of course it still won’t start. I have no idea what else it could be. Please help.

HI Joselos, The Im608 doesnt have BMW or Benz Programming available on the tablet. Programming is when you inject a calibration file into a module from a server. The IM608 doesnt have access ( on the diagnostic side) of autels servers . Hey might have used the j2534 or used the xp400 to execute it on the bench. I wasnt there but all I know is that programming is not available on the im608 accourding to the engineers.

Did you actually watch? 30 minute video, not 45. If you didn't gather the difference between the two you should probably not be working on cars at all, well maybe oil changes and tires but leave the keys and programming to your competition. If everything has to be spelled out for you, you're not going to figure it out.
The only reason Autel won't allow German car programming and oscilloscope features on the IM608 is to increase profits for Autel. I remember when transponder key programming tools first became popular. A company called Advanced Diagnostic was charging close to $10,000 for a scan tool with all the software upgrades to configure cars to recognize new transponder keys. That same tool is now obsolete, and is being cloned in China and sold for a few hundred dollars online. Just goes to show how much the actual hardware is worth. As soon as these electronic tool companies get a corner on the market they start charging technicians an arm and leg for a few lines of code like the ability to retrieve the key code on some cars. If technicians knew how much Autel paid for the hardware they're charging thousands for they would all become sick to their stomachs. Its too bad it work like this.....
IM608 can be used with the MP408 Scope. It couldn't to begin with, but now it can. As for Programming with the IM608 I doubt there would be many shops that would be prepared to pay for an 'all in one' tool (Hell I even get complaints that the MS906BT is too dear!) Plus the idea of having multipul tools so you can work on more than one car at a time is more practicle for most workshops who run more than one tech. Yes Autel is out to make money - What business isn't. With ALL Scantools Hardware would only be 10% at best of teh actual cost of the tool. Most of the money would be in wages of the 100's of R&D tech WORLDWIDE getting code and rewriting it to suit their Scantool, and then there would also be licencing fees to teh OEM's (and that won't be cheap).
What do you do when your SD card on your scan to goes bad and your schedule tells you SD card corrupted how do you fix that problem
HI Edwin, I asume you have the ds708? Well if thats the case the only option you have is to see if you can purchase an update subscription to install the new software into a new SD card. But the cost of an update is not justifiable since your tool may not be supported anymore. In the future if you dont want to get into this situation again you can order through me . Alot of guys say they same thing when trying to find a woman..Its like trying to find a unicorn as they simply dont exist lol. On a serious note most people in my opinion dont pick the right tool in the first place. Or if the tool they select is missing a feature they need, they might overpay for a tool that they really didnt need. The best thing I would recommend is to get a tool strategy. This way you can get the right tool that will do most of what you need and also strategy of other tools that solve special problems.

I couldn’t program a blank key 2008 Mbz s550 I had original key but key did not work but I had blank key but couldn’t program I was very upset spending all that money that didn’t do the job I used the new 608 I paid 3200 something
HI Sagad, Why dont you report it to the supplier who sold you the tool? I understand your frustrated but unfortunetly I did not sell you this tool so I wasnt able to help troubleshoot the situation and give a reason why the IM608 didnt execute the procedure. There are many variables why it didnt work . All I can say is let this be a teachable lesson to ask your supplier (before you purchase) if they offer over the shoulder training and troubleshooting. Othwerise the vehicles are too complex to want to do this stuff alone and sometimes (even for me) my engineer is the only one who can educate me and my client as to why its not working.

Generally speaking you can use the im608 doesnt need a subscription in order to work. But there are some manufactuers that requre a valid subscription in order to connect to the interent to do the key learning proceedure.

Its hard to say with out diagnosing your thoroughly, but typically buying a used module is risky as you dont know what "baggage" is associated with it. And the only way to fix those issues is to buy an update. So your cost is just as much as a new one.

Can you add the xp400 to the elite???
The Elite probably lacks the immobilizer key programming functions where an XP 400 would be required to perform the key programming . XP 400 is not included as an optional Elite adapter.

Very few cars store the key code internally.

I am an Autel customer for life and was just browsing videos and stumbled upon your channel and got to thinking that I need to do business through you in the future. I currently have the DS708, MS908, IM608 & 2 Autel TS508's. We do full service car-care, Automotive Locksmithing, and Collision repair so we are high volume and always upgrading. My question for you is: if I buy from you, what kind of support will I get? I mean right now I have to call Autel and work with them but I feel like when I buy a product from a vendor I would really feel better buying it from a guy like you who is always hands on with the product. My 908 is out of date and my intentions is to not update at this time but replace the hardware then add the adas system with targets.

Say your girlfriend has a Newer Volkswagen , your can program batteries, that was cool, I own a locksmith Company so that’s why I’m talking on here, but like you go buy battery for 2018 Volkswagen Tig , auto zone or advance auto say they can install battery, they can’t because battery has to be programmed into it on them models!

Will the IM508 and 608 Synchronize a new replaced antenna on ie; 2004 Dodge Caravan or the Fobik ignition

It would be nice if Autel or any scan tool company would release separate special test function updates or special tests ..say if you wanted a steering angle reset and you could buy it separately from Autel for a price and download and install it on you’re scan tool..
