Nunn was my favorite fighter for a while. The Toney loss killed me because he was owning James toney, and then he seemed to disappear from the public eye even though he kept fighting.
@@LobotomyMeat A lot of guys give Pernell credit for having better defense than Nunn. To me Pernell was evasive -- so yeah -- give him credit for being hard to hit. But with Michael Nunn, you are talking about someone that would stand right in front of his opponent with hands at his sides, and they couldn't touch him. In fairness to Sweet Pea, I didn't follow his career that closely because that Olympic class that he came out with -- Holyfield, Tyrell Biggs, Mark Breland, Meldrick Taylor -- they were more appealing to me. Toney and Lomachenko don't compare to MN, and althoug Toney beat him, let's be real -- Nunn was whipping his ass like a Catholic school teacher from the 50's until the KO. Wille Pep -- that 's the black and white era -- never watched him fight except a few highlights on YT. Locche -- never heard of him.
Man I’m from the quad cities and I know his niece! I once said something to her about the James Toney fight James is my cousin, she got pissed about that but she just don’t know how much I admire 2nd to nunn! Dude was the coldest! I wish he would help some of the local kids! Dude is the truth!
He really could have been a superstar… talks of him fighting Sugar Ray, Duran and Hearns… he was good looking, stylish and could have had a long reign. Why someone then decides that dealing coke is a smart idea is beyond me… stupidity
@first_to_lett_a_rhymme_flow_ murderers get less time then that. Big drug companies sell drugs all the time, misused and like any other drug you get sick or die.
The fact that he still does the Third Person thing is hilarious. 😄 Dude was so slick, could watch flurries of punches coming against the ropes, barely blink, and counter you in between. 🥊
This is Piankhi Iyapo. You are, in fact, right and I was wrong about Kalamby. I was thinking Ayyub Kalule, the Southpaw that lost his Junior Middleweight Title to Leonard.
Same i also picked kalambay because he just come up a huge win over mike mccallum a masterclass performance by kalambay mccallum cant even lay a gloves on kalambay on that fight he also just beat a very good fighter robbie simms marvin hagler littlee brother so when nunn ko kalambay in the first round it blow my Fkn mind shit is insane knowing that kalambay also had really good defence not even mccallum can hit him clearly
Michael Nunn is wrong!!! He says that Kalamby had never lost to an amerikkkan fighter. That fight took place in 1988. Leonard knocked Kalamby out in 1981.
Boy you hit it on the head on all counts. I’ve been saying that for years. If Ali knew how to box he would not have had brain damage. His iron chin and determination make him great. He was not a boxer he was a fighter. Ali never saw a left hook he did not get hit with. He never threw a body punch. Once his speed left him and since he did not have conventional boxing skills he became a punching bag. His best defense was holding behind the head and leaning on the ropes. And before those who may read this get angry I’m right. He was indeed a great HW but as Teddy Brenner said Ali, he couldn’t punch and he couldn’t box but he sure could fight. The day before the fight weigh in has changed boxing. Roy Jones at MW! He never entered the ring at less than 175/180. When he got to LHW his more natural class he got cold cocked by two good but not great fighters. Roy knew he had a weak chin and he played the weigh in factor to perfection.
One of my favourite boxers. Glad to see he still has his wits about him. Respect from Liverpool.
Thanks. No disrespect - you look kinda young to know about Michael Nunn. @first_to_lett_a_rhymme_flow_
I'm so happy that Mike has faculties and speaks clearly and so fondly about his time in the ring. Not many are able to do that.
Nunn DESTROYED. . Kalambay. Loved it..Nunn proved to world... terrific champ...
Nunn is speaking and aging well you love to see it
that prison sentence might have saved his brain from damage in the ring.
@@uncletony6210 He actually had a few fights when he got out and won them all.

15x3min +14 1minute break in between darn near an hour of fighting is quite remarkable. Respect to the Gladiators past and present.
Excellent interview! Thank you!🥊

Nice interview.
I loved him. He reminded me a little of a left-handed Ray Leonard. It hurt me when Toney beat him. I'm glad to see he's ok today.
The closest thing to a middleweight prime Ali at his best stylistically
I thought the same thing. I think the haircut helped to.
You're right. Loved watching Michael in his late 1980s pomp. So fast, so fluid. Tough, as well.
He reminded me more of Ray Leonard.
Thanks for the video, Throwback Media
The greatest defensive fighter I’ve ever seen. A magician!
Have you seen Pernell Whitaker, Vasiliy Lomachenko, Willie Pep, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Nicolino Locche, or James Tony?

Great athlete and professional boxer. In spite of his set back God vindicated him as we can see ! ❤
I didn't know he was an Iowa native. I have lived in Iowa and enjoyed my time in the Midwest. I'm glad he's doing well at the moment.
He was such a great fighter back in the good ol days.. Kinda a cross between Sugar Ray & Pernell Whitaker stylistically
I love his fighting skills and styles
Michael Nunn would have went onto bigger and greater things, if he didn't get incarcerated. He was one of the best of his era. Respect 💪🏻 ♥️
Not sure what that's based on, but IMO, things changed forever once James Toney turned his lights off.
Michael had hands for sure good to see he is doing fine 🥊
Great content!! Nunn great medweight hands downs!
Great stuff, champion in and out of the ring all the very best to you champ 👌 👍
Nunn was like the Rolls Royce in the 160lb division
Flawless fighter who was almost unbeatable in his prime, what a great fighter.
No flawless fighters, some great, great fighters.
@jasper3127 what ever, I used to see him fight often, hitting him was almost impossible.

He needs to get his teeth fixed. He's almost unrecognizable.
what if he don’t want to?
You mean mouth. At his age there are no teeth to be fixed. It's either partials or implants.
Does it really matter if his teeth are fixed or not ?
Of all careers I wish could have a do over.
I remember sugar ray avoiding him back in the day…
Great interview With Michael Second to Nunn That KO over Sumbu Kalambay will be talked about Forever 1989 Ring Magazine Knockout of The year
Why such a short video for one of the greatest middleweight.
He had a short reign :(
I loved Nunn, great fighter, but short lived prime unfortunately. Beautiful to watch fight. Could easily have been an all-time great.
Davenport stand up
Sad that boxers don’t have pension plans or medical like eye care and dental.
He should have neeeeever gone to prison. He was a drug user not a drug dealer. 🤷🏼🙄🤔
@first_to_lett_a_rhymme_flow_ murderers get less time then that. Big drug companies sell drugs all the time, misused and like any other drug you get sick or die.
One word: Veneers
Veneers cover teeth not replace them. He can get partials, implants, or nothing at all. Them $h!t$ are expensive.
My 3rd all time favorite fighter 😊
Mike was my guy a lot of them guys ducked him
The fact that he still does the Third Person thing is hilarious. 😄

Two major mistakes. Leaving the Gossens and getting in drugs
Don’t get high on your own supply, Nunn missing teeth from all that crack 😂

Against Jay Bell, G-Man folded him with a body shot. 🥊

His brain is still sharp, but you can't really sound smart while missing teeth. No offense to the champ, its just a rule.

No he never your getting mixed up with ayub kalule
Kalambay never fought Leonard. But he did lose to an American, Duane Thomas, in 1985.
Your are 100% correct. I am thinking of Ayyub Kalule!!! I stand corrected!!!
Why would you invest your hard-earned millions into drug dealing is beyond comprehension.
Muhammad Ali the most atrocious boxing example. Review his films. He refused to learn Boxiana Science Gladiatorial Doctorate levels of mastery. Secondly, no Pugilist can learn from Ali’s fight films. The prestigious 15Rounds duration is utterly safer than the current and scandalous Day-before Weigh-in procedural. People need to research instead repeat. ©️Coach Hilario 2024
