If everybody could afford a v8, everybody would have a v8. I’d really appreciate those with v8’s to stop talking down on those with v6’s. A vehicle is a vehicle. Yours makes more power! Good job👏🏾👍🏾
It's literally a couple grand more. It cost less for the rt than it does to supercharge or turbo and tune your car. Fact of the matter is. People buy a v6. Spend all their money on stupid shit and all that money coulda gotten an 8. Almost every v6 driver is certified rice in their "mods" they'll spend thousands on wraps Amazon wings and stickers and louvers and shit. Fact of the matter is if you can't afford a race car. Then you shouldn't be going after one. Like the guy said. It's a daily. Its got a little bit of power. And it's less expensive than a foreign car and better reliable than most foreign cars especially for power in price range. 25k is a Camry. A charger is way nicer and the motor is just as reliable
@@kylealton4347 I hear you, but going from $29,995 to $36,995 has a major effect when we’re talking about financing. That’s a $500 car note VS a $700-$800 note. I respect what you’re saying and agree to a degree, but everyone can’t afford the hemi and a lot of people like the style of the car. I got lucky and got a 2020 GT for $25,000 thanks to COVID.
@@marcuslawson6800 that is a good deal. But I also know that they can get a few years older rather than buying a car brand new. I mean gas is always an excuse. But if they can't afford gas why are they buying a new car? It's nothing more than a mix between instaclout, ignorance, misplaced trust towards used cars, and fulfilling their ego with getting something new. Now they'll also use the warranty or maintenance plan as an excuse. But most early maintenance services and costs are due to the break in period and nothing other than battery changes and oil changes should really be happening until 50-80k miles. Idk who drives that in 4 years. Not to mention there's full warranty plans for used cars even that are multi tiered to fit budget and go up to a lifetime and can be customized to support aftermarket parts and these warranty plans are less expensive than most dealer warranties unless it's free with signing during some special promotional event. Basically the people I see, and I am talking through personal experience through my own eyes, buy a brand new 6cyl muscle car usually aren't doing anything big with their life. And they always have those same excuses. Like gets better gas mileage. Or the v8 was just more expensive ect.
While I usually enjoy your videos, I have to take exception to the condensing tone of this video. I'm 65 years old and have been going to the dragstrip since the early 70's. One thing that I always loved about drag racing and cruising in general is that there was always a place for everyone, regardless of the type of car you chose to run. I raced a 65 Chevy Impala Super Sport with a swapped in 427 and Muncie 4 spd as my first strip car and daily cruiser. Because of the high level of competition in the large V8 classes, I had limited success at Englishtowns Raceway Park. As my Impala was being repaired, I bought a used Chevy Vega with a 4 cyl and 4 spd, to drive around while I spent my free time working on the Impala. One weekend, while waiting on head work for my main ride, we went to the dragstrip just to watch, in the Vega. Racing wasn't busy for some reason and just for kicks, we ran the Vega. I still have that old faded time slip for its first run...18.563 @ 78 mph 😳 . After that run, we took out the spare tire and all the other junk, and I advanced the timing 4 degrees. We knocked a full second off our time and added 1 mph. Well, I was hooked. It wasn't long before I sold the Impala and started racing the little Vega every weekend. 4 barrel manifolds, headers, HEI ignition, etc... Because we changed to bracket racing, I had more success in that little Vega, then I ever had in the Big Block Impala and it was a lot more fun. Plus we had to innovate a lot because not many people were racing Vegas. My point is, Hotrodding has ALWAYS welcomed Everyone, regardless of what you were running. Just because you have a V8, doesn't make you "King of the Hill". Lots of people race 6 cylinders and 4 cylinders, it all depends on what you get into and what draws you to Cruising and Racing. Your video would have been much better served, if you had actually shown what is available to the V6 crowd, what the best "Bang for the Buck" mods are, whats available, etc... Last weekend, I traded in my 2018 Mustang GT for a 2020 Dodge Challenger SXT, having done a lot of research on the Pentastar V6 and the Challenger in general. I bought it so that I could take my 2 teenage children with me when I go cruising and in the future, to the dragstrip. I had the money for a Scat Pack, but dismissed it because I wanted a base trim level so I could build it the way I wanted. The only addition I added was the Premium Sound System with Navigation, because I wanted to have decent tunes while I planned out my project. I now enjoy taking the Wife and Kids cruising around the beach cities of Florida. I think you do some great videos and have enjoyed watching them, but remember, it would be a boring sport and hobby if everyone showed up to the track in Hellcats, SS Camaros and Mustang GTs. Diversity makes the sport and everyone's is welcome.
Cool mate I agree 💯! Do you know what else is available for mods for the 3.6 Pentastar. Other than the mods we all already know like cold air intake, full exhaust system, ported upper and lower intake manifold, 80MM throttle body, RIPP coil packs, RIPP supercharger.
Would LOVE to have a Hemi powered Dodge, but until they return those to AWD trims, I’m stuck with a V6. Some of us have to deal with harsh weather that rear wheel drive only cars struggle with.
Same reason I'm looking at one as well. Looked at the jeeps cause I like them from my experience with my 2002 I have. But they are about 5k more than a challenger.
If it's snow your talking about, with a good set of cables the scat behaves pretty well, as long as your not getting on it rough and are driving responsibly.
IF, you buy for practicality and reliability, then yes, I agree with almost everything you said, however, where I think you miss is for those who buy because they can't afford the higher trims. Seems we sometimes look at it as a total sum up front. Spend 35K on the already fast car, or spend 35K on a slow car and all the mods for it, (hence all the 'you shoulda just bought a x') but it doesn't work that way. Sometimes people don't have that money to borrow or put out up front. The mods are spread out over what can be years sometimes. So for them, I say yes, if the V6 is all you could get, and you don't care for a smooth reliable car, and care more about going as fast as you can, mod the hell out of it. I was one of those people, it took me 20 years to finally get an "SRT level" (not an SRT, don't want to start a fight here lol) car in my 1320. Before now, I just had to make do with what I could afford or what the banks said I could afford. Sometimes that meant modding up cars or trucks that most people would say is stupid to mod up.
I fully agree .. affordability plays a massive part in why so many V6 cars are sold.. nothing wrong with getting what you can comfortably afford and enjoying it 👍
RacerX Go drive the JEEP Wrangler with the turbo and pentastar!!! It’s nearly the same performance and way more fun of a daily!!! I love my scat pack but every time I hop in the jeep I just smile and half the time I pull the top down.
@@chadhanson4369 A turbo on a Pentastar? What model is that? I find that very hard to believe considering the headers are molded into the engine block.
I'm glad you came up with this video because the truth must be told. Even if the 3.6 is more high-tech than a hemi , Chrysler just wanted that engine to be bread and butter.
I have the v6 300S AWD & I enjoy it, my question I remember seeing a UA-cam video saying if one would remove the filter and cut a hole in the housing to increase more air in it will boost the performance by how much?
I have V6 18 Challenger SXT Plus.. Just added Mangaflow exhaust/ K&N Cold Air/ Front Lip kit/ 20% Tint and it drives fast and smooth on the highway.. (over 110 mph easily 🤫)
I have a 2008 Dodge Charger SXT with the 3.5L V6. Its a nice comfortable ride and it has made me change my views on getting an older muscle car. I like the car for what it offers. It was priced right. It looks awesome. A V8 would have been great, but would have cost much more than I was willing to spend at the time. Now that I have the money to upgrade, I am considering what is best for my family. Wanted an SRT8 Challenger and opted for a V6 Charger. At 44 years old, I no longer feel the need to do 0 to 60 in 5 seconds. But, if i feel the need to punch it on the highway... I will get there quicker than most. Or at least most of the cars I remember when I was younger... Runs the same 1/4 mile time as my neighbors 95 Chevy Impala SS. But I always hear that I should have bought an RT, SRT or Hellcat... you can't please everyone. Just get what makes you happy and enjoy it.
I have a 2019 300 just like that one ,I put a Drop in K&N air filter in it and also did a Resonator delete with 2 small 1 chamber Flow Monster mufflers. Sounds good, a little bit more pickup, fuel mileage actually went up @ 3 mpgs average all for less than $200 ,Cant beat it .
@@Lehjet Honestly yeah, K&N air filter with just a muffler delete or a aftermarket muffler is a nice cheap combo you can do easily. Adding a Strut bar helps a lot with the handling without doing expensive coil overs, plus you can easily do the install at home
Great video! Glad to see some love to some of us V6 folk. But that is true when I bought my challenger at 23 the Sxt was all I could afford. Fast forward to now I’m 29 and in Hellcat territory looking to pull the trigger very soon. However I kinda want to keep my Sxt as my daily cruiser.
Great video! I just installed the Pedal Commander (easy install...plug and play) to my V6 Challenger to get a more sporty feel (not designed ro increase horsepower or torque). However, it gets off the line quicker and eliminates that slow throttle delay completely when set to sport plus mode. It also gives it a little better sound with the intake and exhaust system. I like the v6, and it's fun to drive, but I still want to get the srt in the not too distant future 😁.
I agree. The V6 is a great car and I don't think it's worth the cash to mod. Not enough bang for the buck. I live in New England and daily a 2018 Challenger GT AWD. It's so fun to drive, good on gas, is a beast in the snow, and makes me smile every time I get behind the wheel. Great video.
Try a cold air intake for your Chrysler 300, I have one on my 2013 300C, and it makes a significant improvement in throttle response, passing power, and sound! Well worth the money !
I love this. I have a 2020 charger sxt because it was affordable. I crunched the numbers and would be paying $400 for insurance and $1060 for monthly compared to what i pay now. Plus i make $13h so yea I got in where I fit in. I always get crap like " just buy a v8, your car sucks, if you cant afford a v8 then don't buy a charget" like it's my money and if I want to buy a v6 and mod it overtime, then I will. I'm happy with mine. Plus it sounds great. Will post video of my new muffler in a few.
Exactly! I'm 48. I just purchased an sxt, and I'm not trying to make the traveling roads a drag strip. But, later, if I wanted to boost the power and output of my ride, there is that option. Back when I was growing up, I owned a couple of old-school classic and antique cars that I modified; one was a 66 impala, and the other a 77 pontiac grand prix with a 88 oldsmobile engine...both were stolen. At any rate, I grew up going to car shows with my dad where vehicle mechanical components (engine and all) would be totally chromed out with mirrors beneath to see it all, we would also go to drag strips and go to the pit and mechanics were proud to tell you about their mods, they feel, that gave them an edge. As you said, all engine classes were accepted. There's nothing wrong with buying a fully tuned V-8 that's ready to go to the strip right off the showroom floor, but you bought it like that and had no involvement with how it performs, so you can't brag about it! My dad was a street racer in his youth and always kept a classic car in the driveway when I was growing up that he constantly tuned. A lot of my friends and I did the same, and it was normal for you not to let others see what you had under the hood. Modifications are synonymous with the muscle car industry! That's most of the fun! To be called a grease monkey used to be a badge of honor and to brag about what you did to make your car faster gave you real clout. But now you mostly have people who know little about cars and are buying all their muscle ready-to-go, but want to talk down to others with v6 or other stock engines. Please!
I spent $2500.00 of mods on my sxt, including fogs, custom carpets, classic Challenger font badges, a great K&N to increase the hp somewhere near 330ish (from stock 305 hp ) which also provides a sweet sound to a point where I feel exhaust mods aren't necessary. Finally a set of sport Toyo tires to max fit 245 55 18. Racer is on the money with this review. I couldn't be more pleased with the overall look, sound and performance as non racer enthusiast. Anything more than this needs to skip all those expensive turbo/super chargers and go straight to the RT. in the end, it's cheaper. Great vid man!!
Hey i am in a same boat.... I wanna mod my challenger with a cold air intake....does it really add 30 horses? Can you feel the difference while driving? Does it voids the power train wattanty? Whats the cost? Does it affect the reliability?
@@jayeshjahagirdar9589 hey Jay. I haven't dyno tuned it after I installed the K&N but there's a modest increase of 15 to 20 hp. Getting airflow through with a sport throttle body and resonator deletes can give another 5 to 10hp. It doesnt void the warranty and the gas mileage is slightly better if you dont kick it. I highly suggest you go for. Installation is easy. Cost me around $500 Canadian funds
Book says 300HP for 2018 GT AWD.....during test drive and transit from dealer back to home I hit 307 for a couple of seconds during acceleration. What’s weird is that normal cruise even running around 70-75MPH after hitting 8th gear and level surface the HP gauge was indicating about 40-60HP......and still getting high 20’s MPG. Tough to argue with 25-30 MPG and comfortable smooth ride. Leather, heated....includes steering wheel, NAV, Ventilated seats, SIRIUSXM radio, split folding rear seats etc..... Originally was looking for R/T HEMI but C/V took to long and not overly transparent with reason for delay....Ironically about two hours after I canceled the order I got another delay message. GT was three mode years newer and almost 30K less miles. Only thing I lost from the R/T was the HEMI, 20’s ( GT has same wheels but 19”) and Moonroof.....ph wait one more thing the GT had for advantage.....in stock and immediately available.
12:01 I bought a 2023 sxt blacktop and put borla exhaust and afe cold air intake on it, 0 to 60 in 5.6 quarter mile in 14.7..being 68 years old these new V6 engines run almost identical to the muscle cars of the 60s and 70s and that's good enough for me and my car sounds really good now. I've owned Corvettes with less horsepower and slower times. I'm very satisfied
I had a V6.... bought a Borla ATAK exhaust.. cold air intake... RIPP Supercharger... just wasn’t happy with it ultimately.... bought a SRT 392. Haven’t even started modding it and I’m very pleased with it.
Wonderful explanation and I couldn't agree more with you more. I personally think that dodge/FCA did really well with the engine and trims. The v6's are fantastic for letting people get into the cars and have some fun. The srt's are at a great price to give you more power then you can get out of the v6's for a better price then going the power upgrade way. The hellcats/demons/redeyes are great for those how can afford and want that power more then the v6/6.4's can offer for the same price in mods. If you need more then that, a slightly modified 1000hp hellcat like Xcesiv is very achievable. And let's not forget how absolutely insane 1000hp truly is. (I also kinda feel the same way about chevy/ford.) All in all I think this past decade has been one of the largest automotive reforms for the absolute better (that 100% includes E.V.s in my oppion) Take care X. As always, Keep Smiling
Right now you can only get an all-wheel-drive challenger in V6 that’s what I got and where I live the streets are covered in ice right now the all-wheel-drive challenger handles great but in a world with Lancer evolutions and Subaru STI‘s cruising the frozen streets with their all wheel drive if one of them gaps you you’re being laughed at and told your car is a piece of garbage after pudding A ripp supercharger in my V6 pushes more than 400 wheel horsepower and the torque is over 360. Properly installed and maintained your supercharger will last the life of the engine. I’ve had it on for a year so far and no problems just sad guys in 4 Bangerz who can’t keep up. Lots of guys have modify their V6 without any problems and you don’t have to go completely overboard with it.
Love my SXT!! Challenger has always been in my family from my pops owning a 71 Challenger, saw first hand how many time we got pulled over for speeding back in the day.... so yeah just happy for now with my Challenger sxt!! Great video!!
Never put down the little guy. Im older and have the v6 because of gas and reliability as well as easier to work on. Looks good , drives good and runs as good as some of the considered performance cars did in my younger days. I like the looks of it as well. You dont always have to be dangerous and waste tires for enjoyment. Things change as you get older. And if you want to know the definition of high performance , it is , performs better than average for what it is.
I just traded in my '09 chevy imapa ltz for a '16 dodge charger sxt. Before I watched this video I watched your other video on your recommendations for mods on V6s. My top 3 mods will def be: 1. cold air intake 2. oil catch can 3. exhaust for a lil more HP 😎
I bought a V6 Ram after owning 3 hemi Rams. 99 percent of the time I never miss the power...but sometimes I do. I had a new Ranger and you could add 60-80hp with a $400-$500 tuner. That thing was a riot but just too small for my needs. There's really no cheap path to make significantly more power from a Pentastar. I've priced intakes and throttle bodies and coil packs and tunes and it would take thousands of dollars to make hemi power at the cost of a voided warranty and loss of long term reliability. She's staying stock.
I got a 2013 Charger SE. I have a CAI, RIPP's coil packs, 80mm throttle body, pypes performance exhaust, 93 octane tune & a roar pedal so far. I've had it for 3 years & no major issues at all. I aint in a rush to get a 6.1 or 6.4 so I'll enjoy what I have & continue to create a bad ass v6. Folks can talk their shit about v6's all day but who cares 🤷🏾♂️ Modding my car has been worth every penny to me. I'm literally a RIPP supercharger away from making my baby a REAL sleeper & never hearing "v6 cHaRgErS aRe sLoW" again lol ..Even though I don't think any vehicle with 300+ wheel hp is slow. Then again... I've never driven a SRT 😂 #RespectThe6
I have the 2019 GT Challenger RWD ... This baby flys 💪 305HP is me pulling off on everybody at a green light.. any faster would be extinction of speed 🤣
I love my Challenger SXT Plus it’s a fast car in my book, If I wanted faster car I would just get a RT. I don’t understand why people do the most to there V6’s.
My first Mopar was a 2012 3.6 challenger. It was smooth felt quick on the highway it was a very nice looking car. One thing that bothered me was the sound of the 3.6 v6 does not match the size of the vehicle at all. No matter which exhaust system I've listened too the v6 always sounded to tiny for me. I traded it in and got a 2014 challenger rt and it was every thing I loved about the v6 but with AMAZING torque and the Hemi sounds perfect with this big vehicle I'm now in a 2014 charger rt max and it still brings me joy to stomp on the gas and feel that hemi slam me in my seat. If you get the v6 enjoy it and tune out the haters most people that gave me shit about having a v6 were people who owned non performance cars, raggedy cars, or no car at all
Great vid Racer X , I totally agree on the aesthetics for all 3 cars and make a great daily . If I had to daily a sxt my choice would be a Chrysler 300 . Just for the comfort level it has to offer . Fantastic video . Cheers
The price is the difference bud. People aren’t buying the 3.6 for the sound, power or anything a v6 has that a v8 doesn’t. They are mainly getting it for the price. If it was your wallet you would Maybe consider common sense.
@Tony Wolf Too bad they don't make a rear wheel drive Honda Accord. Hell with a front wheel drive, i won't own one. I drive 140 miles per day in a Charger SXT, I love it.
Tony Wolf are you that ignorant? Get a real muscle car with a v8...until you get passed in your outdated r/t by a supercharged v6 that cost less as a whole including with the supercharger price included...if you have the funds to get a v8, of course go with the v8. But if you don’t have the extra 6K to spend for an outdated engine or 10k for a nicer v8 then the v6 is plenty to have fun and even beat v8s when supercharged.
@@conorfinlay6653 People don't like to understand that a ripp is supercharger combined with the price of the sxt is literally less if not the same worst case scenario slightly more than a R/T. However its cheaper than the scatpack, has more HP than the R/T leaving you with more money so spend if you save or decide to get something in between a r/t / scat pack. PS. to everyone. the sxt has more HP than the original muscle cars. I'll pass on any imports and go with dodge. the manufacturer that uses the most american made parts in the car industry. sorry ford/chevy
not everyone can afford the higher trimes but like me who wanted a rt theres just no v8 awd and i need awd because im in minnesota it snows but if someone talks bad ab the v6 i just say look up corvette c8 vs dodge demon u can have all the hp u want it dosent mean ur gonna have any grip so in conclusion yes mod ur car dont listen to anyone because its your car im getting a sprintex supercharger put in my gt and that should get me to around 420hp at least (thats what there website says) and its still a v6 and awd so i dont gotta worry ab spinning my tires and during the winter i have the ultimate Tokyo drift machine also ripp supercharger is a good one i decided sprintex just because its more a actual super charger and u get the wine the ripp kit is more of a turbo
Great info! I gave my daughter my 2016 charger since she started driving this year. She wanted a louder exhaust so I put a better exhaust in there but I also wanted to install the following as well: Cold Air Intake, larger throttle body, Accel coil packs, and iridium spark plugs. Do you think these would make a difference in performance? I don’t want her car to be extremely fast, just maybe improve the performance a little but nothing drastic. She doesn’t drive the car like a maniac as my wife and I have the Life 360 app and monitor her driving but sometimes I still drive the car. 😂
Great video brotha, I appreciate all my v6 owners out there but pleeeeeease stop messing with the exhausts. Thats the only problem I have, just keep them quiet and smooth not sound like a 350z!
Gr8cylinder looing that’s cuz no one knows how to correctly make the 3.6 sound decent. Look up solo performance cyclone on the v6s and you’ll be surprised
@@conorfinlay6653 I've heard some that are not as annoying but still would rather the stock quiet sound. The v6 just isn't meant to be loud in my opinion
I don’t see to do modifications to your vehicle unless you drag racing but in my opinion if that is what you want then go do it. RIPP is a great product. Check out 86face. He pushed he’s challenger to the limit.
Couldn't agree with you more Xi bought my wife an SE base charger in 15 and the only thing I've done to it is a cane in air filter Really reliable over 62000 miles no issues
Remember everyone. Hotroding is about YOUR CAR, YOUR VISION.. Don't listen to others, build what you want or can!! This comes from the mechanic of the FASTEST 3.8 S.B.E. full-body 2015 Challenger!! Be unique in life, anyone can buy a v8 but how many walk the big three at will? Lol..... How manybof us can stalk selected Maserati cars, open our hoods just to reveal the same motor. The pentastar in 100% stock firm will swallow 200hp of power adder. In a healthy motor your first failure will be head gaskets, headbolts, then pistons around the 580-630hp mark. Then about every rod will twist at 600+ mark. You can easily fix all this with the great folks at prodigy.
While i love the v8’s, the need for awd for me is much more, which is why I went with a Gt charger. Also, the rate at which v8’s get stolen is not something i would like to be a part of. Plus i dont have to be at the gas station every four days
Even if you could I wouldn’t bother since the hp gain would be close to none unless you do a whole other bunch of mods as well. Then it comes down to just get the bigger motor
If you buy a 300s and grab a cold air intake , throttle body spacer , intake manofold with some injectors and a 93 tune it'll smack 2013 - 2016 charger rt with out breaking a sweat. Using full synthetic oil will help to.
I have a 2012 300 with the 3.6 and I am sure the 15-16 will gain power easier but if you can get a 18-20 300s you'll be able to see 500bhp with less than 8k.
I have a 2016 Dodge Charger SE and I can say it’s not the fastest but it’s a fun car to drive. I raced a duramax same year as mine on a 30 he didn’t pull off till over 70 mph, raced a Rt from 80 and he was a car an half in front and I was topped out at 120. Overall it’s not a bad car to have fun with in my opinion.
I just bought a single cab short box dodge ram with the 3.6, not because I couldnt afford a hemi but because I wanted better fuel ecomomy and 305 hp in a single cab truck is more then adequate.
At the end of the day I enjoy the MPG at a 23 combined in Long Island NY. So the SXT has it all but the rumble.. Now, that isn't say, that rumble does have a value..
I'm a true on road RT 66 historian... If I got 9.5 miles to the gallon... well u know the rest ,ALSO... The srt is, ready? 650 pounds heavier! Forget about the race car thing, NONE of these are "race cars" I have a happier v6 and I cruise right past them all... by the way, how ya doin x? Nice to see ya again
best mods for these V6 chargers challengers or 300 is exterior work make it how you want it to look drop in a CAI little exhaust work peddal commander call it a day 🔥
Corrections: The engine on these can SAFELY handle 30 pounds of boost straight from the factory. It’s 1-4 thousand dollars for superchargers AND IT COULD BE LESS DEPENDING ON IF YOUR DOING WORK YOURSELF, you said headers? These don’t have headers they have a single exhaust manifold. You can get 500 horsepower from a single supercharger compared to paying for the 370 ish horsepower that a stock RT makes.
I'm going back & forth between a GT & an RT. I'm not racing. I commute 7 days a week and need something a little more powerful than the average rest on the road.
I still love my 2014 Charger R/T. She's still a head turner ( Header Orange) paint immaculate 76K on the odometer new headers K&N Air Intake and a tune. She's no slouch ask the sucker in the BMW M3 who tried me.
Also, the v6 challenger has the same mounts with the 6.4L so when you get 200k miles tou save up for the sway, spend 15k on it and all of a sudden you got 2 cars for 32k which is 1/2 price than 1 scat pack
On my SXT, I’ve added the Cold Air intake and exhaust but I’m thinking of adding a turbocharger but I don’t know if I should tho plus people has been telling me if your gonna do that then just buy a SRT hellcat or so on but I don’t know.
I had a SXT, got quotes for the RIPP supercharger, $8000 installed. I had bought it for $25000 brand new but it was the previous year model. I ended up trading it in for a used R/T that had 3000 miles and paid $32000. If I installed the RIPP on my SXT it would have been the original price of $25000 plus $8000 for a total of $33000 for the car and it could have voided the warranty.
I copped a 2016 v6 Chrysler from a dealer woulda got a v8 but insurance on it sicne I’m young was out the roof on the v8 I had a 06 v8 thing was fun want my v6 yo match it or at least close
Great video! I have a 2019 300 and was thinking of doing a basic upgrade with intake and exhaust work with a slight drop in suspension to give that extra look. What would you recommend for an intake and exhaust set up for my 2019 300 V6?
Getting the 3.6 tuned with HP Tuners and someone who knows the 3.6, will give you a 40+ 40tq @ the wheels my 2020 Challenger will go 0-60 in 5.8 seconds an that's not bad and yes you have to run 93 octane
The V6 should be twin turbo'd. The Maserati Ghibli uses a smaller, twin turbo specific version of the Pentastar and it runs hard. Put a pair of ball bearing turbos on the heads ( the exhaust outlets on the heads are great ), add fuel and computer ( someone has to have an aftermarket unit to add control to the VVT....Im thinking Haltech ) and take advantage of the high revving capability.
Certainly would be great to see however I can picture two other factors coming into play.. the additional cost would render the cars far less competitive vs what it competes with in its segment and at that power level it would render the R/T obsolete.. would be interesting though
@@RacerX9 If it was an OEM build sure, but as an aftermarket possibility it could give V6 owners a chance to shine. The V6 really hasn't been pushed hard enough to find the weak spots structurally. I could see a 600 whp V6 car that would sooo sleeper.
I don't want to modify the engine, but I do want to optimize mpg. From everything I've heard, upgrading an intake and exhaust can do that. Is that true? I just want to preserve the life of my V6.
Kyle Alton I think you are right but some people just live in bad weather conditions, and v6 is awd
People act like this is new. How many mid-60's nova's, camaro's and chevelles came with a 6 cylinder and are updated 30 years later.?
Such a true statement, I'm tired of seeing the same builds over and over time for someone to try something different
Bullseye ... !
💯
🥲👍
Would LOVE to have a Hemi powered Dodge, but until they return those to AWD trims, I’m stuck with a V6. Some of us have to deal with harsh weather that rear wheel drive only cars struggle with.
Exactly why I picked up my V6 the AWD capabilities
Very well said brother👍
I fully agree .. affordability plays a massive part in why so many V6 cars are sold.. nothing wrong with getting what you can comfortably afford and enjoying it 👍
I wouldnt mind the awd v6 challenger. Driving all season and while still has some punch. 😎👍
For sure.. something to be said about the AWD cars being versatile
You can get the v8
RacerX Go drive the JEEP Wrangler with the turbo and pentastar!!! It’s nearly the same performance and way more fun of a daily!!!
I love my scat pack but every time I hop in the jeep I just smile and half the time I pull the top down.

@@chadhanson4369 A turbo on a Pentastar? What model is that? I find that very hard to believe considering the headers are molded into the engine block.

I'm glad you came up with this video because the truth must be told. Even if the 3.6 is more high-tech than a hemi , Chrysler just wanted that engine to be bread and butter.
Absolutely.. solid platform for base model 👍
3.6 is the bread. Hemi is the butter

I have a 2012 300 (base).
I want a bit of sound and power. But don’t want to cause any engine lights and such.
Should I consider doing this as well?
@@Lehjet Honestly yeah, K&N air filter with just a muffler delete or a aftermarket muffler is a nice cheap combo you can do easily. Adding a Strut bar helps a lot with the handling without doing expensive coil overs, plus you can easily do the install at home
I've got a 16 I put a k&n cold air in, was looking for some extra cheap pickups to add, thanks, also, think u could upload a video on how it sounds?
Great video! Glad to see some love to some of us V6 folk. But that is true when I bought my challenger at 23 the Sxt was all I could afford. Fast forward to now I’m 29 and in Hellcat territory looking to pull the trigger very soon. However I kinda want to keep my Sxt as my daily cruiser.
Good stuff.. yes the SXT is the perfect daily 👍
The GT and SXT come with AWD while the other trims don’t, making the decision for those who live in worse conditions a lot simpler.
Great video x, I agree have fun moding whatever car you want. Just keep those expectations realistic and have fun.
Facts
Great video! I just installed the Pedal Commander (easy install...plug and play) to my V6 Challenger to get a more sporty feel (not designed ro increase horsepower or torque). However, it gets off the line quicker and eliminates that slow throttle delay completely when set to sport plus mode. It also gives it a little better sound with the intake and exhaust system. I like the v6, and it's fun to drive, but I still want to get the srt in the not too distant future 😁.
For sure my friend.. gotta make it fun and unique for your individual tastes
Don't forget us truck guys!! That's the best money spent. These trucks have a 1/2 second delay in throttle apply.
Any other mods you did to your challenger? Got one, need suggestions
Nothing wrong with that my friend 👍
Try a cold air intake for your Chrysler 300, I have one on my 2013 300C, and it makes a significant improvement in throttle response, passing power, and sound! Well worth the money !
what brand intake did you go with?
Good stuff my friend

Another great video and I definitely agree. I love my V6 Challenger.
I have 2015 Charger SE, good enough for a daily driver!!

The 3.6 pentastar is going to go down in history as one of chryslers legends. Strong, light dependable and 36 miles gallon

IN MY OPINION they shouldnt make a v6 challenger the v8 gets almost just as good mpg and sounds better and has more power responds better to mods
Exactly mate.
The price is the difference bud. People aren’t buying the 3.6 for the sound, power or anything a v6 has that a v8 doesn’t. They are mainly getting it for the price. If it was your wallet you would
Maybe consider common sense.

V6 owners aren’t scratching their heads over the gas prices.

I was actually going to collab with him on this video but his car was down
@@RacerX9 I would love to see that!!
Couldn't agree with you more Xi bought my wife an SE base charger in 15 and the only thing I've done to it is a cane in air filter Really reliable over 62000 miles no issues
I get V8 MPG's in my V6 Challenger 🤷🏽♂️
NYC. Averaging 13MPG in the traffic here lol
You can't put headers on the 3.6, the exhaust manifolds are cast as part of th head😭
Even if you could I wouldn’t bother since the hp gain would be close to none unless you do a whole other bunch of mods as well. Then it comes down to just get the bigger motor
You would be better off leaving those castings anyways.
Great video, really good explanation of all three cars
If you buy a 300s and grab a cold air intake , throttle body spacer , intake manofold with some injectors and a 93 tune it'll smack 2013 - 2016 charger rt with out breaking a sweat. Using full synthetic oil will help to.
I have a 2012 300 with the 3.6 and I am sure the 15-16 will gain power easier but if you can get a 18-20 300s you'll be able to see 500bhp with less than 8k.
Then again if you got 8k sitting around you should be going for scat 🤷🏾♀
Owner of a V6 this video really helped but I’m also shoe fanatic and loved those red air max’s you were wearing. Where can I find?
I got them from Foot Locker... $160 🔥
Not trying to turn my v6 into a racecar but would love to add a turbo
I have a 2016 Dodge Charger SE and I can say it’s not the fastest but it’s a fun car to drive. I raced a duramax same year as mine on a 30 he didn’t pull off till over 70 mph, raced a Rt from 80 and he was a car an half in front and I was topped out at 120. Overall it’s not a bad car to have fun with in my opinion.
They are fun cars.. nothing wrong with the V6 trims 👍
I just bought a 2016 Rallye trim Charger. It's really nice. I'm very interested in your opinion and tips on the V6. I'm now a new sub.
Always on point brother! 👍👍
These v6 cars are faster than any other average car so therefore there still elite
I just bought a single cab short box dodge ram with the 3.6, not because I couldnt afford a hemi but because I wanted better fuel ecomomy and 305 hp in a single cab truck is more then adequate.
I don't quite agree. I've heard the V8 reliability isn't great, with that cylinder deactivation.
You took the words right outta my mouth.
At the end of the day I enjoy the MPG at a 23 combined in Long Island NY. So the SXT has it all but the rumble.. Now, that isn't say, that rumble does have a value..
I didn’t think they was any performance cams for the 3.6v6
I'm a true on road RT 66 historian... If I got 9.5 miles to the gallon... well u know the rest ,ALSO... The srt is, ready? 650 pounds heavier! Forget about the race car thing, NONE of these are "race cars" I have a happier v6 and I cruise right past them all... by the way, how ya doin x? Nice to see ya again
Great vid brotha. Running a 13 charger v6. Flowmaster exhaust. AirRid cold air intake. Diabloe trinity2 ex tuner...
Sounds like a solid setup 👍
i love my 2020 300 v6
best mods for these V6 chargers challengers or 300 is exterior work make it how you want it to look drop in a CAI little exhaust work peddal commander call it a day 🔥
Corrections: The engine on these can SAFELY handle 30 pounds of boost straight from the factory.
Excellent presentation.
I still love my 2014 Charger R/T. She's still a head turner ( Header Orange) paint immaculate 76K on the odometer new headers K&N Air Intake and a tune. She's no slouch ask the sucker in the BMW M3 who tried me.
ok
Great information,l really like all your videos, have a great weekend!
K&N, flowmaster 10 or Big Boz, suspension eibach pro or sport line.
A ripp charger can bolt on with a tune and destroy on rt with no internal mods for less than 7000.
I've been modifying my 2015 Chrysler 200, which has the same engine and hp as a 300, but already has an advantage because it's 500lbs lighter.
I agree 💯👍
What you say the sxt is slow?
Would*
Thank you for this information
I don't want to modify the engine, but I do want to optimize mpg. From everything I've heard, upgrading an intake and exhaust can do that. Is that true? I just want to preserve the life of my V6.
It’s like He almost says it’s fast but he throws a slight curve every time 😂
Great video
Racer x, good video brother and some great insight to those who are on the fence about choosing a trim level.
