That's excellent! I like how playable it is for DnD. You can put minis on top of the skull, the eyesockets, the nose, and inside its mouth during play. Thanks Mel!
Christmas skulls? Christmas has really changed in the UK sine I lived there.
I was thinking the same. Or do they call every holiday in the UK Christmas? Kinda like how everyone calls soda "coke" in the south of the US...lol
Did I say Christmas?
They do things a little different in The Potteries. Still not at outlandish as the Welsh and their undead horse rap battles though.
Brexit must be going really well that Christmas is about skulls now
@@TheTerrainTutor You did (at 0:42) , but hey that's how I like to decorate for the hollidays
I love the build. I did build a tower with a skull for the gate house. The chain to the draw bridge ran through the nose hole as the guard s look out the eyes hole the bridge did work. At the was where the wizard did his spells.just under his living quarters was a captured maiden that was guarded by a two headed dragon, one head slept the other watched. The wizard had a small band or Orcs. Too bad it got damaged and threw away some 20 years ago.
Lovely stuff as ever - skulltastic Mel - embrance your inner "Ray Harryhausen"
Now there's a blast from the past!
Awesome seeing you enjoying yourself! I have to agree with a previous comment that some simple LED flicker lights in the eyes, maybe one shining onto the pool in the bottom would look really cool!
Be a cool piece for a undead army.
Trying to finish off some of my own terrain projects, finished off a small palisade here recently.
Totally agree!
Rather than putting filler on, you can lightly sand shiny, smooth plastics to gently rough up the surface and give it some tooth for the paint. But stippling lightly as you did is an alternative I haven't used, but has the added advantage of giving some nice texture.
It's only scary the first time buddy, crack on!
Alas, poor Yorick, for we modelled thee well. Looks Awesome Mel. You've definitely got your mojo back! It will be interesting (by the power of Greyskull!) to see what you do with Rita, Sue and Bob too...
I'd love to do a castle greyskull
Quick tip Mel. If you spray a clear coat of varnish before you basecoat that often will give you something for the primer to grip to. I'd recommend matt varnish.
Awesome idea. This could be used for many scales from 1/32 to even 1/6 depending on how it's dispalyed.
That glowing effect is tight!
Quite chuffed with it myself
Awesome! I made my first ever real terrain piece a couples of weeks ago with this exact same skull! Of course, mine is not even close to be as awesome as yours!
I'm definitively learning with your videos! ( I plan of trying the battlemat tutorial but man it's kind of scary )
Well done Mel it looks great
Pretty cool, maybe with the next skull, saw the top off the head off a bit above the eye brows and make it into a bubbling spooky cauldron lol.
I like that idea!
@@TheTerrainTutor I thought you already had made a skull altar sitting in a pool of blood?
Love some cheap and cheerful hobby. Would be fun to see more terrain stuff from Valheim. I always enjoyed building wooden houses and smithys
More to come!
Next time, LEDs in the eye sockets!
good see you putting vid out thanks lee
This would make a perfect alter to Khorne, just needs the mouth filled in with some red and some freehand icons
Thank you for this. It's excellent. I've just picked up a skull from Home Bargains for this very purpose!
Looking great, I love the Valheim influence!
I would have left the inside open (or partially) and made it a cave/tomb entrance. Still awesome!
Funny enough, you mine out skulls in the game
I have few of these skulls from Wilco and all of them have the same hole on the side. As far as I've noticed the shops attach the kimble tags through it. Pretty stupid if you ask me, they can just use a sticker.
I think it’s actually a part of the manufacturing process. Probably a hole to let air out during vacuum sealing or something
Cool as always.
I agree the piece looks brilliant. Maybe an end of level boss could be making it hollow with smoke effects and lighting.
Smoke would go great with it
I'm surprised you didn't give the skull the good ol' jungle treatment with leaf-litter and vines; great work though, Mel!
I'm swampy for this one mate
This is a fantastic, I have been chipping away at terrain for Idols of Toment (a game by Black Magic Craft) and this piece would totally fit straight into that game!
Yeah, actually it would mate
Hiya Mel, I guess in B&Q their eyes light up with delight when they see you? A very enjoyable tutorial. May I suggest a sci-fi 'terminator-ish' theme which could include red eyes, for one of the skulls? Best Wishes Johnny
That's gotta be saved for a mech board mate
I would use LEDs for glow inside the mouth that is very cool
Mel please post a link to where you get your skulls from.
I get them from my local supermarket at halloween mate
Bob and Sue? Not Bill and Sue (Terrainaholic)?
No, Bob, Sue and Rita are an iconic trio in the UK mate
Can someone tell me what he used for the top of the mouth instead of milliput at 7:56 ?
DAS air drying clay mate
Oh awesome, and thanks for the reply @@TheTerrainTutor
how do we get gaming with you, I love Valheim
