On a wet, dark Autumn evening and Summer is becoming a distant memory, Mel Bose, like a beacon of light, a Champion of Hope, steps out, offering a Comfort Blanket of terrain Genius to aid us in our day. Bose, you’re a legend mate. 👍🏻
Awesome intro, I saw it as yellow writing scrolling against a star filled backdrop
I hope it was the right trees you was barking up 😂 Good to see you back, live and kicking.
Take care.
I'm so glad you are welcoming our pics to show you! Been using several of your ideas to make items and want to show you my progress.😊
Swamp terrain is an interesting one. You could go for dark fantasy or make it realistic enough to mix with the Burma build.
Interesting. I've used pretty much the same technique, with one exception: I've been using pipe cleaners (or Chenille wire as it's called here, I think) instead of the plastig coated metal wire. It's basically a very cheap crafting material that's fluffy and comes in a variety of colors. After I twist the trunk and branches, I'm left with a very fluffy armature, but exposing it to a heat source melts the fuzzy bits into a very passable bark texture. A quick spray of black primer and some drybrushing and you've got a very nice tree.
Your 'twist" on the wire trees is something I must try, just wrote down the barking recipe, and here I'd I thought I was done figuring out trees. Good to see you back in the studio!
Good to se u back at it mate,
I miss your live streams...
It's always good seeing you back doing what makes you happy Mel :)
Hey Mel! Great timing, this will go well with Mork Borg.
Good to see you smiling, Mel. These look great!
Yay!!! Mel is back. I was just talking about you last night and how great your channel is. So excited to see the video. So great!
Happy you're back mate and I'm so excited to get inspired again!
Great vid. Needing to do some plague trees in 6mm scale. Was thinking of doing things a little different - making the branches more droopy to show they're diseased, and also leaving some of the green wire exposed down the branches to make them look more gnarly
I have learned so much from you since I’ve started watching just a few days ago. Thank you so kindly, you are my favorite UA-cam artist. 😊
Great to see you back Mel, I was wondering where you had got to! Best Wishes as always Johnny
Good to see you back creating terrain 👍👍. I’ve missed these as I always find they inspire me to go make something myself.
Great to have you back Mel
Welcome back, thanks for the refresh.Regards Lexi
Really good to see you back Mel. Was wanting to do some trees for Forbidden Psalm so you've done me a great service good sir.
I have made similar trees but I definitely learned a lot from this video. Thanks, Mel.
Bose, man, good to see you around again!
This is SOOOOOOO FUNNY!!!!! I'm making swamp trees!!!!!!!!!!! Ya I'll have 62 trees when when I'm done with 80 swamp stumps!!!!! LOVED the terrain walk though that you did!!!!! BEAUTIFUL TABLES!!!!!!! Glad to see you leading the terrain troops Big Guy!!!!! The new guys are SO GOOD!!!! You have a LOT to do with that Buddy!!!! I have to start making videos again. I'm doing a lot just not showing it. Take care of yourself:)!!!!!
LMAO!!!! You always have to go big don't ya mate
So happy you're back!
So far the best tree armatures I came across are just roots. Go to the forest, find some fallen trees and brake some off. Wash well and coat with PVA. Don't even need to paint them. Nearly instant spooky gangly trees. And free too.
Awesome!
Nice to have you back mate
Chinchilla dust... How did I go for so long without knowing this stuff exists? Thank you, Mel. That is a great suggestion for texture paste.
Glad it was helpful!
Great to see you back on Form Mel....Love your vids...as a Beginner i have found your site to be a Treasure Trove of Information...onwards and upwards as they say...look after yourself.
Nice to see you on UA-cam ❤
Love these trees. I can't wait for the follow up vid
This is great, Mel!
I've learned a ton from your channel!
Glad to see another tree video! I have recently been starting to make some trees for my gaming table watching your old guides. Thanks for the neat barking tips in this one!
I'm so happy every time that you post a video! Amazing work as ever!
Great video! Always love your stuff, glad to new videos.
Great to see you back at it mel
Good to see you back in the saddle! I hope to see more stuff form you soon!!
Great to see you, Mel!
I've got some part made armature trees which I had hit a wall on, this has inspired me to get them finished
Lovely to see you back at it, Mel!
Great going Mel. Thanx!
been trying to figure out a way to do trees and I like this
Great to see you back
Mel, you’re a beast! Really enjoy your videos, thank you.
Pain to make, but wire trees are always the nicest ones. Good thinking on that green wire, im going to have to look for some of that for my own swamp trees.
YEEEAAAH !!! He is back !!!
And I think I should give a try to the twisting wire tree method. Thanks for showing us.
Ooh, I may have to try this one out!
Very good video glad to see you back 👍👍🤠🤠
Glad to see a video from you! I was just thinking about making some swampy trees for my Turnip 28 regiment. I think you'd enjoy the modeling and terrain building for that game.
Love you bruv. Thanks for another great tutorial. Cheers.
Glad to see ya back!!! Interested in seeing what you've got for Plague Marines. I've got a huge batch of 90's 40K that I dug out and thinking of doing them up as Nurgle, so looking for inspiration.
Mel this is so cool and ironic as I have just begun reading Unification from Warriors and Warlords today and previously didn't really know squat about Mortarion and Vorx or the Death Guard prior to the Horus Heresy. I always thought plague marines were too over the top and kind of goofy. After what I've been reading, I'm becoming a big fan lol. Time for some Barbarus terrain👍
hehe, i had closed captions on so i could watch while listening to some work stuff and it said, "Hi! I'm Mel the Train Shooter...."
Great vid!!
of course Mel would be into Valheim. freebuilding is loads of fun
Love it mate
God bless you man!
Had the closed captions on and this video started as Mel the train shooter. Thought this was a dark end of the channel.
I've recently discovered your channel, and you're soo helpful. The tip and trick with das clay was a life saver for my projects. It's nice to see you back. When you say you put "filler" in the bark goop, what is exactly? I don't know how to search for it here in Italy. It's like plaster?
My Verrotwood build will now be this much better. Thanks
Ooooh I was just about to do some wire trees myself. The technique I was going to use was hot glue to cover the wire and then adding texture to the bark with a wood burner. Have you ever tried this?
Thx really useful. Will there be a part 2 to put foliage on it ?
Swampy indeed.
Hey Mel, are you going to “play around” making proper tall trunk high canopy jungle trees any time soon? Preferably from start to finish (incl painting)
I've got plans for something like that for the BBB
MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL!
Nice see you
Propper ! 👍
sorry, but I have a question about your bark recipe: When you say "filler" do you refer to the substance that one uses to repair drywall holes? Awesome tutorial!
Yes mate, wail and ceil stucco
Any recommendations for a barking material that would hold up for tournaments or games store usage?
I wonder if you use crackle paint for the overcoat if the cracking reads as bark.
That's worth playing with
