EZDrummer 2 Metal Comparison

- I made this video using various EZX Expansion Libraries made by Toontrack to give a demonstration on the way they sound. The MIDI notes were taken from Library Of The Extreme Vol. II.
In this video:
EZDrummer 2 Modern
Drumkit From Hell EZX
Metalheads EZX
Metal Machine EZX
Metal! EZX
Made of Metal EZX
Drums of Destruction EZX - Фільми й анімація
Drumkit from hell give me tons of memories
This really should get an updated version with EZDrummer 3, especially with the Modern Metal, Death Metal, Progressive, Dark Matter, Into The Dark and Dualities
Here's what I think of each one:
Basic: the safe bet, sounds really good but a bit too generic. Sounds like a million different records being made nowadays and for a good reason.
Drumkit From Hell: so bad it's good, really shows the birth of metal drum samples. Might sound ironically good for comedy metal but it's the worst at disguising as a real drumset. Will never use this on a recording unless it's for comedy/irony purposes
Metalheads: Djent is my favorite genre, Meshuggah are the ones who invented it, and Thomas Haake is an icon. These samples are the most dynamic out of them all but to the point of it becoming a bit weak. Throw in a comp and it'll transcend them to so many levels.
Metal Machine: Andy Sneap is one of my favorite producers of the 2000s and this might be my overall favorite! sounds like a very balanced middle ground that's a different and kinda interesting flavor of the basic. However, snare has a bit too much sustain for its height and kick is a bit too weak, cymbals sound great.
METAL: sounds very powerful but not exaggerated. Kick got loads of attack punch as a kick should have, but snare sustain is a bit too high. Cymbals are so and so, some sound good, others sound weird. Toms sound the best and most realistic out of them all.
Made Of Metal: sounds the most old school, I love Collin Richardson but this kinda dark and without a lot of attack. Will use only when I aim for a more old school sound
Drums Of Destruction: very unique, sounds like a very refined version of DFH. sounds perfect for slam/early deathcore but not really for much else. Snare is ringy which has defined the sound of the above mentioned genres, kick is a bit too soft and needs compression and toms sound weird
Thinking of grabbing Metalheads, but is it literally only the 12 meshuggah songs and no other sample licks? Id hate to try and write while using the exact drum licks from other bands' songs.
Thanks for this comparison. Very helpful.
This was a great video. Thanks for the upload.
Thanks 🙏 for sharing!
Thanks for your video.Where is a video with modern metal presets browser view and sounds at 175 bpm ??
I’m gonna do another one of these in November for metal month, with the Dark Matter, Death Metal, and Modern Metal EZX, plus whatever they put out this year, as well as Progressive, Rock Solid, and Pop/Rock!
@@RJMachinegun and a video with all modern metal presetsat 175 bpm in october ?
@@RJMachinegun he... never ... did..., 😢
Metal machine and Modern basic win.
Metalheads was the easy win in my mind.
I think the snare and hi-hats are the only really good things about "Metal!". The ride has too much sustain, the China sounds particularly weak, and the toms don't sound like toms. The kick drum is ok. I think it sounds better than the one on Metal Machine.
The modern kit was just fine it it has China and 2 splashes.. 😥
i have almost all the metal kits except drums of destruction and metal machine EZX
the worst is certainly made of metal ezx : how can we be satisfied with a dark sound like that ?
my favorite is something between all the packs i have :)
but when i listen to what Addictive drummer has, not sure i will always be a Toontrack fan
the snares could be 10 times better and more punchy everytime except for the ones to sound like Metallica-Scorpions or megadeth which are decent
Where can I find made of metal and drums of destruction download?
Thiago Alboneti the Toontrack website. You have to buy them.
@@rjoyner44 of courses yes nothing 's free !
Metal Machine EZX is the best out of all of them.
i like the made of metal. all of the other kits sound like clicks and snaps. Yes, that kit is a little dark, but some eq and multiband compression should do the trick.
