    You are very clever. I believe you just introduced a new and ingenious technique to the rod making University.

      Thank You for your kind words, it definitely means a lot coming from someone with your years of experience. I’ve been building for 14 years and I could kick myself in my behind that it took me about 12 years to come up with it lol 🎣

    Fuck. I should have thought of that! I should have thought of going that direction instead of coming from the reel.

      Don’t feel bad, it only took me 10 years out of the 14 I’ve been building rods for this idea to pop in my head🎣

    Nice I was using a laser line

      I’ve tried that before, but if the blank had the slightest of curve in it, it wouldn’t line up for me, but it was helpful otherwise. Thank You for watching our videos🎣

    How do you determine the position of the reel seat?

    • @rsrodsjigs6725
      @rsrodsjigs6725  6 місяців тому

      I find the backbone of the blank for the reel seat position. The grips and reel seats are always the first steps

    Just curious does microwave guide outperform a traditional guide when using braid? And do you get them from AFTCO? Thanks a bunch

      They have been proven to, one of the main reasons is, the smaller guide in the first guide calms the line down before it gets to the other guides helping it to cast further, be more accurate and less effort in casting by the angler

    What if the top is not on straight?

    • @rsrodsjigs6725
      @rsrodsjigs6725  3 роки тому +1

      That’s the first I make sure is straight, actually put it on before I start tying guides on🎣

    I am 71 and have macular degeneration. I no longer see straight lines, but sine waves. This is the ONLY way I can line up the guides. After wrapping, I run the line through them again to do a final check and adjustment before finishing.

      I hope this tip helps people, I know it works out for me pretty well, I do still double check it. I have noticed over the years blanks have curve to them sometimes and it can throw things off
