  • BACK TO BOAT LIFE!! www.sailingnandji.com
Before Christmas last year, we packed up Nandji 2 and travelled back to our home country of Australia for some much needed family and friend time. We had been away for over 2 years and honestly, we felt we needed a break from the boat for a bit, plus Tallula had lots of cousins to meet!
We kept ourselves busy in Oz enjoying what the country side of Australia had to offer. After years of green grass and palm trees, it is always a pleasant contrast to return to the harsh Australian bush and wildlife.
We had a few adventures along the way as we took a luxury house on wheels on to the Sealink ferry and across to Kangaroo island. We spent 2 weeks freezing cold and exploring the island with family.
Then packed up Nannas car and drove 700km back to the coast where I grew up, opened up our shipping container of belongings from ten years ago and subsequently went camping in a tent… It is good to remember where we started.
Our time in Australia gave us everything that we were looking for… We filled up our cup with love and memories and were given the reminder of how good boat life really is. With a fresh new outlook and now full of determination once more to get Nandji 2 ready for the big year of sailing ahead, it is back on the plane to Thailand to get back to our floating home and the Marley man.

Hello Legends!!! I always love seeing the family and hound reunion video. Another great video showing how to pay the clean up bill for leaving the boat for an extend time. I always enjoy seeing the reunion video between a pet and their family. Thanks for sharing, Yew!

I hang my clothes out in the sun and wind for a few days and that fixes the smell
Make sure to have a decent filter on your shower drain to catch hair, or you'll be pulling that pump out to fix a jammed impeller.

It is not really necessary to replace rigging after 11 years. If there is no corrosion or broken strands and the chain plates are good it should be OK for family cruising. If it has swaged fittings those should be replaced with Stayloks or Norseman type fittings which are lifetime fittings. You can cut swagings off and replace with extended length fittings. You can do them yourself one at a time and save thousands.

Please wash white mold at the engine . White mold is like cotton wool it took me 8 years to get it out of my lungs. It is a silent killer. It is airborne that why u don’t see it but u have growth on the wall down at engine. The more u clean it with bleach solution it doubles in the air it is really a bad one. Out of all the molds I am totally allergic to white mold nearly killed me because it was on white walls! Glad you back missed your videos x

Vacuum bags work wonders to keep clothes fresh, I use them myself.
I live in a mobile home, and get similar problems
I buy them, and suck them flat with a vacuum cleaner, but I hear some folks just use strong black plastic bins bags, and suck them flat, then tie the top
    It would probably work.

There has got to be an energy friendly dehumidifier that will work for cruisers. Low humidity would help so much in situations where a boat has to be left for a few weeks.

Amazing…is there a copper based coating for the bottom of the boat? I would think barnacles, bugs and vegetation would hate it making life a bit easier for the captain and first mate.

Multiple solar powered fans on low aling with operational bildge pumps keep things more in order. A portal or 2 craked helps. not 100% but better.
