  • In this episode we navigate the challenging waters of West Sumatra as we sail from Sabang to Palau Raya. We have it all with strong squalls, strong currents and moments of no wind at all. Before setting off we had engine issues.. will the come back to haunt us?

    What a video. Very entertaining. One thing is for sure...Nandji 2.0 loves to MOTOR!!! Pedal to the Metal Baby!!! She's no slow poke. Get out of my way world!!! What a boat. You guys must be thrilled that you made the best choice for your second sailboat. What a fantastic sailboat. Sorry about the eggs. I guess you are going to have to get a door lock for the microwave. Carry on soldiers.

    Beaut sail. Must say lucky you on the water, when I was a child the old man was painting the roof and mum called done for lunch I was maybe 4. He left the paint tin on the ground in the porch with brush, so I thought I would help the process for him. I picked up tin and brush and proceeded to paint the 2nd and 3rd weatherboards right round the house even through the carport which was attached to the house for some reason I didn’t paint a racing stripe down mum’s mint 1969 mk2 cortina however the neighbours boxer dog who was accompanying me on my journey did get a racing stripe 😁 when dad came back from lunch I herd him before I saw him 😂😂😂 lucky I didn’t get the full blame as mother said why would you leave the paint out like that 😁 so seeing your daughter painting randomly bought back a child hood memory for me 😊 cheers for the watch and it must feel like a great day when you knock out a couple of hundred miles a day. Safe sailing guy’s

    It's clear that Nandji 2 is meant for speed! Those poor eggs though, and even worse for bonita who had to clean them up! So excited to see all of the work y'all put into this boat and that you have really given her a new adventure. Y'all are such an inspiration! Until next time! ⛵⛵⛵

    For those who are watching Pulau Weh and Banda Aceh was the epicentre of the Tsunami with massive loss of lives.
    The tsunami left a 3 meter high water mark on the building when I was there 4 years ago.
    Pulau Weh is also the site for the Kilometer Zero monument which marks the western most border of Indonesia.

    Love the way you have the Hyrdovane set up. I would always have one too and have always thought it was possible to fit it round the dingy davits and solar arch. Aim to follow soon and get a boat and start cruising and would never be without a Hydrovane.

    Hello Australian family!
    Hello s/v Nandji!
    Ok, maybe you have it, but I'll still leave you this information:
    Portable Separator Filter
    YOILP GL 21 with three filters built into its funnel. Google
    Its Flow Rate is 19 L/minute. It is an intermediary between the dispenser and the mouth of the tank.
    P.S. Wonderful navigation, the baby is beautiful and growing, very curious and expressive, she is GREAT

    Hydroplane pushing against the side of Dinghy ? Won't that create a problem with the rubbing that will occur on dinghy?
    Did you mean to let little tuna go or did it just slip out of your hands. It would have been good for a meal for you three I think. Well unfortunate about the eggs falling all over the floor from microwave. Maybe a clip should be put on or strap to prevent door from opening. I thought that covering over cockpit was new as doesn't at all look in bad shape. Yeah the spray will work, but only temporarily. I'm sure you'll figure it out. Seemed like Nanji2 glided nicely through the water. Looking forward to next video

    what does the hydrovain do for your boat?

    • @FrothLyfeSailingNandji
      @FrothLyfeSailingNandji  14 днів тому

      It’s an alternative to an autopilot that doesn’t use power and it doesn’t break. It mechanically uses the wind to steer the boat. The red thing when pushed, turns the rudder, it has its own rudder so can be used as a backup rudder if something happens and also as a secondary steering device.

    Do you think if your vessel was a Ketch, it would be easier to balance the sails with a reef in the main?

    • @claverton
      @claverton 16 днів тому

      Only because a ketch usually has a smaller main than a sloop and that's assuming the mizzen sail was stowed. Also some ketches may have the main mast slightly further forward which will reduce weather helm without the mizzen up. If the mizzen was up in those conditions it would make it less balanced not more balanced by creating more weather helm and making it more difficult to steer.

It costs us a lot of money to upkeep the boat and the costs of sailing to bring you these free videos .. if you don’t want to be a patreon to help make it possible that’s fine but don’t be an asshole about it! We do all of this ourselves, there is zero external help, no manger, no editor, no filmer, no nanny, no social media expert, it’s just us! We work our butts off to bring you these free videos and we are worthy!
