Honestly, I think this is the way expansion packs should be done. Things that aren't as necessary to the core experience, but make the game more specialised in a certain topic. Parklife isn't _necessary_ but if you like the type of micromanagement that comes from this, it's nice to have. Add a free patch to address issues that are more important to fix on top of that and you get Cities Skylines
Yes! The whole point of an Expansion pack is to Expand your game, and not give the players something that should be in the base (I'm looking at you, EA charging 40 dollars for rain in a life simulator)
Even though I never played Cities Skylines, it's really interesting and fascinating to watch these reviews from you! Also, maybe you should try reviewing Planet Coaster expansion packs as well!
I've wanted to play the game for a long time, but I haven't had the money. A while ago I bought SimCity 2013 (after most of it's bugs were patched) and I moderately liked it, granted it was my first city-building game. After watching LGR's reviews on Cities: Skylines, though, I realized I am massively missing out! Considering the incredible features the game has included with it's own patches and DLCs, I have deathly wanted to buy the game. It's top of my wishlist right now.
@@prestonhall5171 did you get it yet? I had gotten cities skylines for $10 off of steam... but I have it on ps4 now (since my PC is low end and runs the game about 15-30 fps) and it's actually nice...
Hey! Katy Perry's Sweet Treats is a masterpiece! Especially if you are into watching train wrecks while enjoying your diabetes. But seriously they do a really good job with Cities: Skylines. Hope their next title will be at least that good.
Always enjoy to see you enjoying things, Cliff. While I personally have some issues getting into this game, I am always amazed at how it keeps expanding and adding new things in a mostly logical way, without overscoping or adding too much of what already exists in the base game, with new textures or sounds rather than gameplay effects. Not to mention, I like seeing DLC done right. Thank you and Colossal both.
A moment of silence for Ralph. He was...sadly...dismembered by EA. He gave an arm...and a leg...and his other arm...and other leg...then his head for those Stuff Packs. I'm honestly surprised EA hasn't come for his family, extended family and pets as well because his money wasn't enough lol.
When LGR reviews a Sims 4 Expansion that gets released: "Uhg, here's another dlc pack, I guess." When LGR Reviews a Cities: Skyline expansion pack/dlc "I love it." Can't agree more than this.
Ahah, you're right. Maybe if EA bothered to make an actually useful and interesting dlc pack selling at a fair price, LGR and people in general wouldn't have that reaction.
I mean, it's really about how much effort the company puts in for the cost. The Sims 4 has had really cheap and lazy *expansions* and the stuff packs are worse, usually not even giving that much of what you'd expect for your money and often being cheap skins of other clothes/items.
its pretty simple, EA pumps out vaguely interesting dlc that make no meaningful changes to drain consumers wallets dry CO releases new content that almost always (snowfall) improves on the game, with some of the improvments being free, And the new content has a meaningful impact on how you play the game
They do need to do SOMETHING about the fire hazard though. I made an entire island off the coast of my main city into a zoo, a zoo that was only accessible by metro, ferry, and monorail. Only fire helicopters could get to it, and both in that park and in another amusement park on the main island firefighters weren't able to effectively fight the fire and they weren't able to clear the debris leftover in either park as well. They definitely need a patch that makes fire fighters more effective in park areas, or give new park buildings that act as a specialized fire unit for the park itself if you make larger ones. That being said, I'm wasn't even a cities skylines player before recently, and the new additions to this game and me discovery how to properly play has wasted hours about hours of my time, and its fantastic.
LGR Yep, wanted to get in there first. One issue I have is that they run the PC and Xbox versiond separately it seems, as it doesnt appear on the store yet
Gorillaz are pretty popular all around the world, and most dedicated fans will have dipped their toes into Blur and Albarn's other projects. Plus "Song 2" was a hit in America
The cities skylines expansions are always interesting and feel completed and useful, unlike some other game dlc's where they just bring out a piece of crap every month just release content * cough * Sims 4 * cough *
This really looks great. One problem I have when playing Cities: Skylines is that my cities tend to look rather boring. Parklife really could help with that, by encouraging me to make bigger greener areas. With the bigger picture in mind, it even may make me build my streets less angular (a main part of my "boring cities"-issue). In any case, I'll most certainly get this DLC, when I get back to this game.
I usually create massive grids to reduce the empty green space with zoning and angled roads. But with this pack, I can make that empty space a dedicated park that actually increases leisure and land value like the regular parks you plop down
Thanks for still making these! I got back into Cities because of your videos and even bought up most of the DLC. Money is tight this month, but the review on Park Life looks like something I'd enjoy, so I'll put it on the wishlist for when I have a gaming budget again.
Mass Transit is the DLC I've found the most use for, but I am sort of a public transit nut. Green Cities or Snowfall is the least useful one to me, and at least Snowfall includes trams which appeal to my public transit obsession...
Im love this game and I have all the DLCs, including stadiums. Yes... I pay even for radio stations and creator packs xD and Parklife is probably the best DLC of CS existence!
itaybron Not the person you asked, but I also don't like these type of games. I like shooting and slashing things. Then I actually play it and realize that it's not for me. Every time...

YES, I definetly miss the "park filler" option Cities XXL has. And I would love if farms worked like in Cities XXL (or, at least, like in simcities 4, filling a big space instead of having lots of little farms). But this expansion is great, would be nice to have beaches too, the game puts them there but you can't do shit with them. Still, I love it!

If I see the complete set for around $80 CAN I'll probably go for it, since this really is what the Simcity reboot should have been.
If you think you don’t need parks, just think of Luxembourg garden, Central Parks and Trafalgar Square and how much effect it has on the city landscape. I can think of so many ways to implement parks: river side parks, squares serve as parks (your Eiffel Tower could finally be united with Champ de Mars), royal botanical garden and park that are actually beaches. I think what sets cities apart from each others is public space and there’s no public space as important as parks.
I've always thought that parks were something that should have been handled differently from the start, as you say it was always a bit of an annoying fudge to provide them when so much empty space existed. Just bought this, happy to support CO since it's such a great game that can occupy me for hours.

I would like to see a new expansion pack on multiplayer, with servers and visiting others cities live. I thought of something like from Cities XXL; a big planet with places to build your cities, or just a regional map. Players build their cities, and can interact with each other by trading, transport and other stuff, kinda like Simcity 2013, EXCEPT IT'S CITIES SKYLINES! They can make a modded server, or just plain vanilla (no mods). For the servers, if it's going to be a planet, they can terraform the planet, add places for your cities, terraform these places, or just download something from Steam Workshop. Oh and you can make a bus/train/boat/plane routes for your neighbours, and from your neighbours! There must be some big stations for your neighbouring transports to go to. What do you think? Sorry if it sounds excessive, but it truly sounds amazing! Send me some feedbacks!!!!
Once I build my pc, this is gonna be one of the first games I buy. I’d love this game even more if there were mods to add real brands for shops and cars.
I didn't have the chance to test it out properly - but it seems as if plopped down trees now help to reduce noise pollution. That would be another great addition, too … [Ou, posted this before having watched your video completely …]

I was surprised the update didn't include some other well known urban green spaces like Golf courses
Every time I see or hear about this game, all I can think about his Blur's 'Park Life' song.
I really hope this leads into them building a Zoo Tycoon-type game, that'd be freaking sweet!
You make this game sound so much fun, and it's 75% off on Steam right now, so I went ahead and bought it.
His voice is so relaxing and nostalgic, just me?
I recommend the Tree Brush mod. It kinda helps but doesn't fill up everything.
4:18 This pleases me, it gives more encouragement for fire control helicopters.
Once I build my pc, this is gonna be one of the first games I buy. I’d love this game even more if there were mods to add real brands for shops and cars.
You should make an ongoing ranking of all the packs relative to each other from best to worst.
I didn't have the chance to test it out properly - but it seems as if plopped down trees now help to reduce noise pollution. That would be another great addition, too …
[Ou, posted this before having watched your video completely …]
Love what you do man keep it up :)
Really wish they would release a DLC that allows more than 9 tiles on the map. Add more content but not more room to place the content.
The names of your parks are so funny I can barely pay attention to the actual review
Really digging the music!
as a lover of parks and zoos and stuff this really looks fun!
Cities Skylines is an awesome game and i'm very happy they're continuing to make quality content for it, since Sim City is long gone and dead.
