  • Officers deal with intoxicated suspects. One in Portland, agrees to the processing as long as he can sing a song for the officers. Elsewhere a drunk man refuses to cooperate and officers are forced to place the man in the holding cell until he sobers up. In Washoe, a young drunk woman doesn't recall why she is in jail.
Jail is an American documentary reality television series that follows suspects in custody from booking through to incarceration. The show documents events in different jails across the U.S. Jail is the sister show to Cops, a show that follows police officers on patrol.

I was arrested 17 years ago high on drugs for stealing my mother's truck, which I didn't steal. She had my Bronco and I had her truck but she knew I was in a bad place. I had lost my husband suddenly 6 weeks before and lost it completely. I stayed in for 345 days and was found not guilty at trial. I begged not to be released unless I could get into a treatment center. Even though they didn't have to they helped me get into a rehab. I stayed twice a long as the normal program. I hired on afterwards as a peer recovery specialist. Jail saved my life. I've been clean and sober ever since. It can help start you out on your journey of sobriety. It works if you want it to work. I pray that anyone going through active addiction sees that it doesn't have to be a negative thing. Use it to your advantage.

It's pointless to even talk to someone who is extremely intoxicated. IMO they're not considered competent and should not be answering legal or medical questions about themselves. It's such a shame. Also IMO, Alcohol is one of the worst drugs. It turns some people into absolute Monsters. They become completely different people. My DUI in 1998 literally saved my life. My name is Pam and I'm an Alcoholic. I'll celebrate 23 years sober in January. I am certain I would be Dead if I had continued down the path I was on.

And you are completely right about answering questions and turning into a monster, and it doesn't help with mental health issues, it seems to invoke psychosis. Unfortunately most people don't see it that way and still want to hold people responsible for their actions under the influence. Of course depends on the charge.

sounds like instead of just locking him up over and over and over again, we need to address the greater social ills. We certainly cannot count on our broken criminal justice and probation system. If you wind up in the system and do NOT adapt the views of those "treating" you, like, one example, marijuana is tempting, but because the EXPERTS CONTINUE to maintain that cannabis use is a threat to youth, to the safety and security of the community, jobs, family values, health, so much more. Yeah, you used to be a CO. I would not be surprised if you and the VAST majority of your former co-workers are SOCIALLY conservative. Family values, zero tolerance on drugs including even legal weed, which is not really legal because the jackboots still control the Fed. Gov. on cannabis, proper upbringing, proper ATTIRE, gotta protect that community. Some of us view things differently than the security-CRAZ so many officers seem to full victim to. When they do, they become abusive, corrupt tyrants. I have never been in your prison, sir. I am not even a convicted felon, though I should be, considering the awful crime as a teen of experimenting with FELONY level and LEVELS of narcotics. War to correct people's behavior is NEVER going to stop. You are a former CO. For all the ones who change their lives, so many others fail. You served a broken system for all the successes. I don't care HOW long you served, or THAT you served. That is a FACT. Every cop and CO in this country should agree. It absolutely IS correct to blame the system. And we will keep doing this even if you have to kill us, beat us, or shoot us to death.

    • @MrMaddox57

and for all the billions the prison system has, it won't be enough to stop social and cultural change. You are running things now, and likely to FURTHER on Nov. 8. The violent protests are NOT going away. Breaking the law is NOT going away with conservative, law-and-order legislators in office. Good luck subduing the young folk. And they WILL be violent. Even the National Guard does not have it. Angry citizens probably LITERALLY outnumber them. Outgunning and out-maneuvering would not take much work at all

Me too. 😊 The problem is that people that tell people to get on a straight road (path) *but* the problem is that (most of the time) the people that are giving advices "just" have to:
      a) deal with them for a short period of time, usually (like in this program)
      b) it is easy to tell someone to get "this and that fixed" (they don't have to pick up the bill)
      c) 90% of "the poor" (like Michael with the blood face said) don't have the money 💵 💸 to improve X Problem.
True 😃 that people on a straight path usually say: "But they have money 💵 to drink 🍹 for". It is not good to drink, but put it in a perspective: a little bottle 🍾 of liquor cost maybe $5-$10, but a real choice and change maybe costs $5.000 or more depending on the problem (problems costs money folks)...😊 😊

After seeing the effects of alcohol on my family growing up and how that abuse of it on my father subsequently affected my life as an adult , I made a decision at a young age way before even teenage hood to never touch alcohol, drugs or smoke. I have faced peer pressure from colleagues and acquaintances to try it and I have never faltered on my decision...

the police in sarasoda almost killed me for having a seizure in a restaurant. they assumed i was drunk or on drugs and tore my arms out of their sockets trying to put handcuffs on during a seizure.i hadn't had a drink in 22 years and have never done drugs.when they got me to the jail they gave me valium ,which induced more seizures..then they beat me up and strapped me into that chair which caused more injuries..after about 15 5- 10 min seizures they took me to the hospital..a neurologist at the emergency was screaming and yelling at them for what they had done to me and how close i was to dying from the the treatment and lack of medical care.he testified in court against the officers and the medical staff at the jail..my family was telling them that i was an epileptic .that i don't drink or do drugs. they threatened to arrest my 72 yr old mother if she didn't shut up..my family phoned 911 for an ambulance and cops showed up instead..millions of american dollars went up north to canada the day the trial ended..
