~ QUESTION FOR COSPLAYERS ~ Have you have found a better way to scale your props and armour? I would love to here it so we can all learn together. Leave a comment below!
@@chadreinbolt6921 wow I'm so glad this video was so helpful for you. Please let me know if there is anything else you are struggling with. Thanks for sharing this around. Appreciate you.
Your video came up in a search for "measure in Cura". Cosplay is not my thing but it is so great to click on a video and here another Aussie's voice come through, thanks for the vid and all the best.
Hi! Thanks for taking the time to comment. Always love fellow Aussies finding the channel and videos. 3D printing is cool regardless of it being cosplay or not. Enjoy your printing 😊
Thank you, this was a total game/life changer. I have been fighting with scaling, even when I use mm in CAD and dimension things right. I did find that if you scale your print to 1000% uniformly it is usually a 1:1 ratio. Now I can check. As they should start saying. "Measure twice, print once." :) Thank you for sharing this plug-in.
This is great! Maybe it is me, but I don't have a super easy time in Meshmixer resizing and getting all the other pieces to then scale correctly. I have been waiting for this for years
Well hopefully this works out a bit easier for you then. Let me know what you think when you give it a try. I wasn't even aware that it existed so wanted to share in case others didn't know either.
do you have to restart cura each time you want to move the dots? they should have added a reset so you could measure more than one thing per application runtime.
You can keep reclicking and the dots will move to where you click on the model. You can drag the dots too. It can be a bit fiddly though and agree a reset would have been nice.
Thanks for the heads up! Really appreciate it. I have updated the links so check if they work for you now. It's also on Printables here : www.printables.com/model/14099-cosplay-calipers Good luck and happy printing!
is there a way to change the color of the dots? mine are the same grey as the printer model and I can't ever find them without playing a game of where's Waldo
Unfortunately I don't think so. Because it's a plug in for Cura (made by a user not the creators of the software) and not part of the main software the options and setting with it are pretty limited.
If you need something super accurate you might be better using something like fusion 360. For cosplay props a few mm is never going to matter as people are not going to be measuring your prop. Also it could be your actual machine as it can print differently based on the calibration of your machine. You could try printing a calibration cube and seeing if that comes out the correct measurements and that will tell you if it's your machine.
Thank You!! I was just about to give up - the SHIFT KEY is the key (to make it work accurately) especially when using the "Snap to model points" option.
@@AstrocyteCosplay Did that. Restarted, and don't have that icon anywhere. Edit: I accidentally installed "Mesh Tool" hah, got it working now. Thanks for making me double check!
Will it help when I load a small model in cura size 8mm width and 4mm height and I don't know why cura auto scale it to 100000% of its original size.👊🏽⚡
You will definitely be able to scale it back down in Cura and then use the measuring tool to measure and get back to those dimensions you need. Maybe there is something wrong with the way the model was made if it's loading that large.

I'm glad it was so useful 😃
thanks a lot, just wanted to say that its amazing how much thought cosplayers put respecting a lore, greetings!
Thankyou! Greetings to you too.
Thanks for posting this. I needed to upscale a hole but I needed to measure the diameter first. Thanks.
No worries. Glad it was helpful 😊
Thank you for this video! I'm not totally a cosplayer but use my 3D print for alot of stuff and this helped me understand how to use the measure tool!
Glad it was helpful. Can be used for so many things in 3D printing and not just cosplay 😊

Both Cosplay Callipers links are not found, where are they ?

My stuff is measuring several hundred MM incorrectly. I just printed something that said it was 289 and it was 33.2

Fyi you may have to hold down the shift key to get the second point in Cure 5.2.1 .
Thanks for sharing this tip with everyone. I haven't upgraded yet!

I don't even have that little measure icon in my toolbar on the left...
You have to install it from Marketplace. The first part of the video shows you how to find it in Marketplace and how to install it. Goodluck 😊

Haha glad you got it working in the end! Was thinking to myself that was very strange 😂
thanks!
You are most welcome 😊
Handy tips! I've recently got an ender 3 V2 🤣
Awesome! Welcome to the club. Have loved my Ender 3 V2. What do plan on printing?

It no longer works!
