      Hi! Thanks for taking the time to comment. Always love fellow Aussies finding the channel and videos. 3D printing is cool regardless of it being cosplay or not. Enjoy your printing 😊

    Thank you, this was a total game/life changer. I have been fighting with scaling, even when I use mm in CAD and dimension things right. I did find that if you scale your print to 1000% uniformly it is usually a 1:1 ratio. Now I can check. As they should start saying. "Measure twice, print once." :) Thank you for sharing this plug-in.

    Thanks for posting this. I needed to upscale a hole but I needed to measure the diameter first. Thanks.

    Thank you for this video! I'm not totally a cosplayer but use my 3D print for alot of stuff and this helped me understand how to use the measure tool!

    This is great! Maybe it is me, but I don't have a super easy time in Meshmixer resizing and getting all the other pieces to then scale correctly. I have been waiting for this for years

      Well hopefully this works out a bit easier for you then. Let me know what you think when you give it a try. I wasn't even aware that it existed so wanted to share in case others didn't know either.

    do you have to restart cura each time you want to move the dots? they should have added a reset so you could measure more than one thing per application runtime.

    • @AstrocyteCosplay
      @AstrocyteCosplay  2 роки тому

      You can keep reclicking and the dots will move to where you click on the model. You can drag the dots too. It can be a bit fiddly though and agree a reset would have been nice.

    Both Cosplay Callipers links are not found, where are they ?

    • @AstrocyteCosplay
      @AstrocyteCosplay  Рік тому

      Thanks for the heads up! Really appreciate it. I have updated the links so check if they work for you now. It's also on Printables here : www.printables.com/model/14099-cosplay-calipers
      Good luck and happy printing!

    is there a way to change the color of the dots? mine are the same grey as the printer model and I can't ever find them without playing a game of where's Waldo

    • @AstrocyteCosplay
      @AstrocyteCosplay  2 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately I don't think so. Because it's a plug in for Cura (made by a user not the creators of the software) and not part of the main software the options and setting with it are pretty limited.

    My stuff is measuring several hundred MM incorrectly. I just printed something that said it was 289 and it was 33.2

    • @AstrocyteCosplay
      @AstrocyteCosplay  Рік тому

      If you need something super accurate you might be better using something like fusion 360. For cosplay props a few mm is never going to matter as people are not going to be measuring your prop.
      Also it could be your actual machine as it can print differently based on the calibration of your machine. You could try printing a calibration cube and seeing if that comes out the correct measurements and that will tell you if it's your machine.

    Fyi you may have to hold down the shift key to get the second point in Cure 5.2.1 .

      Thank You!! I was just about to give up - the SHIFT KEY is the key (to make it work accurately) especially when using the "Snap to model points" option.

    I don't even have that little measure icon in my toolbar on the left...

    • @AstrocyteCosplay
      @AstrocyteCosplay  Рік тому

      You have to install it from Marketplace. The first part of the video shows you how to find it in Marketplace and how to install it. Goodluck 😊

    Will it help when I load a small model in cura size 8mm width and 4mm height and I don't know why cura auto scale it to 100000% of its original size.👊🏽⚡

    • @AstrocyteCosplay
      @AstrocyteCosplay  2 роки тому

      You will definitely be able to scale it back down in Cura and then use the measuring tool to measure and get back to those dimensions you need. Maybe there is something wrong with the way the model was made if it's loading that large.
