Guilty as suggested at beginning of video. I’m here after 18 hours printing lol
It happens to the best of us. Even after some experience printing helmets, sometimes things just go wrong. Did you have any more luck with your second attempt?
This is actually a video I can see that has alot of effort put into it, great job!
Thankyou so much. I do try and make them as informative and interesting as possible. Really hope it helped you out. Appreciate the feedback.
Lots of good tips on this video especially doing a slice of the helmet to do a test ring.
So glad to hear it was helpful! Test rings are great. I actually printed another 4 today for a project I'm working on 😊
This was great (and EXACTLY what I was looking for)! Thanks for sharing!
I'm so glad it was helpful!
this is by far the best video ive seen on YT for scaling, and its done by a fellow aussie!! even better.
Wow, thankyou so much for the amazing feedback! Glad it was helpful and definitely love having a fellow Aussie around. Welcome!
I am sorry but your channel is criminally overlooked! ;) Followed for sure and keep up the great work! :)
Appreciate the kind works 😊 Glad the video was helpful. Thanks for the sub, please let me know if there is anything in particular you would like to see on the channel. Appreciate you.
Sweet, thanks for the video. I have printed a helmet yet. These are great ideas
Glad you found it helpful ☺️ Good luck with the helmet. Let me know how it goes!
I just got my ender 3 and this is probably the best explanation I've seen, thank you!
Oh how exciting. My Ender 3 V2 has been a great little machine. What do you plan on making? And Thankyou!! I'm glad you found it useful. Please let me know if there are any other specific problems you need help with and I will see what I can do. Happy printing!!
@@AstrocyteCosplay thank you! And I'm planning on Printing some of my decade old favorite Halo Reacg armor and then Star wars clone phase 2 armor as well as prop guns from both universes. I'm super excited, there's just a giant intimidating learning curve I'm going to have to find a way to stomp.
@@Zetherian They both sound like awesome projects! It's definitely intimidating. I personally would recommend starting with the prop guns or just one small part of the armour. For me I printed my wasp gauntlets and it was a nice first project to get into it and get some confidence.
@@AstrocyteCosplay sorry for the late reply, but yeah I definitely should start off small. However it's a little too late as I took a leap and I'm already printing out an Halo ODST helmet, just absolutely hoping it turns out well lmao. But thank you for the advise! Afterwards I intend on printing a gun of some sort of something smaller. Also your video helped me out a lot so thank you very much!
Oh exciting! Let me know how the helmet goes. Crossing my fingers for you. I'm so glad the video helped you 😊
Great tips! thanks for sharing. Subscribed! :)
Glad they were helpful. Really appreciate the sub! If there is anything else specific that you are having trouble with please let me know.
I have an SV 03 I have been wanting to get working to do cosplay. I did a cold pull on the machine and filament is wedged in the hot end assembly somewhere it seems. I do have an Ender 3 though. You know.... I am going to give it a shot and chop the files up. Why the heck not? Some work is better than no work. Great channel from what I have seen so far! Keep it up! I have a few machines to get working right.
I'm so glad you are enjoying the channel. New video is currently in progress about cutting 3D models with another program too.
Funny you should say about the clog. I have literally just finished unclogging my CR-10s Pro V2. Did the cold pull too but still had to take the nozzle apart and clean out hot end as couldn't push the bowden tube through easily either. Just put it back together and printing a calibration cube now to make sure it's all good to go again.
Got my ender 3 going with the top of my wonder woman sword which was actually the piece that clogged up the CR-10!!
Make sure you let me know how you get on with your machines and prints.
I’m honestly so lost whether it’s best with this red hood rebirth mask I wanna print if I should have it right on my ears but too loose everywhere else, or squeeze my ears and stuff in 😵💫
This is awesome stuff thank you. I had a question, I am trying to print a help the helmet fits but the hole where you stick your head through is too small. Is there a way to adjust the size of only that portion?
Glad it was helpful! What you are talking about is always a big challenge. The problem with scaling just the bottom section is that the portions of the helmet at than not uniform and it can look a little odd. There are a couple of options to try before doing this (depends on the helmet what might work). 1) Scale up the helmet so you can get your head in the bottom section and then using foam padding to make the rest of the helmet fit. 2) Lots of cosplayers chop the back or front off and get it to attach with magnets so you can get your head in and then attach the rest of the helmet. 3) Depending on how tight it is you could try lightly heating the bottom with a heat gun and stretching out a bit (again runs the risk of looking a little odd). Hopefully some of this helps.
@@AstrocyteCosplay wow thank you these are some great suggestions. I will definitely being using them for my helmet in the near future.
nice video. very informative. Question: when moving or rotating the cut plane, is there a way to enter in an exact numerical value? Dragging is ok, but I need to enter a value... is that possible?
Glad the video is helpful. I am not personally aware of a way to enter an exact value. If you are rotating I do find it easy to drag out a bit and it gives you a circle measuring bar that allows you to stanp to every 5 degrees so that might help a bit. Sorry I can't be more help.
I have just had a bit of a play around and maybe try 3D builder in windows. It has a plane cut feature and seems like you can add specific mms. I haven't used it though or tested it so you will just have to try it out.
@@AstrocyteCosplay I'm familiar with the scale bar and circle when dragging the mesh... but it seems that there should be a way to enter in a numerical value while doing so. I can't find a way. It did seem you were able to 'snap' to (was it) 10 deg increments. Is there a setting in Meshmixer for setting snap values? I'll check out 3D Builder at your suggestion. Maybe it's more intuitive. Thanks!
Awesome. Let me know how you go with 3D builder. Would he interested to know how it is. I might even test it out on my next print that needs plane cut too.

excellent video!
My fail is, I was trying to print a gauntlet at one point and got the measurements for my wrist and arm perfect, but forgot that my hand would have to slip through the hole and it just wouldn't fit. I've gone through 3 revisions and finally found a system that works.
@@georgefernandez2566 Glad you enjoyed the video. Is there anything particular you would love to see in a future video? Haha yes that's a hard one for gauntlets, you want them to be nice and snug but still have to get over other sections. Working on webshooters at the moment with this same issue, printed in two halves and going to try elastic to keep them together. We will see!
Thanks for your efford. About scale.. YOu showed how to make bigger object but I have problem with making objects smaller.. I need 1/6 scale so I enter 0,16 for X+Y+Z and do not works.. So I enter for example 0,5 or other
Hi, 0.16 should definitely work for 1/6 scale. It's a little hard not seeing what you are doing but if you are in meshmixer, under transform you need to put in 0.16 in the "scale X" box and if uniform scaling is on it will scale the model smaller. I have just done it myself in meshmixer to test it.
Can I ask are you using 0.16 or 0,16. It needs to be a decimal not a comma. If you are still having problems message me on Instagram as you will be able to send me a photo this way or I can send you a short video. Hope this helps.
@@AstrocyteCosplay thanks. I use decimal. And after typing value and click enter to confirm - zero values appears....and model disappears from screen.
Maybe try zooming in? Maybe the model is really small now and you just can't see it but it's there? I did it with a helmet to test it.
I tried uniformed sizing in the past and it was not a good fit for me. I get the fact that it is needed to keep it's over all shape, but what about taking into consideration of the padding?
Yeah it's definitely hard and different for everyone. We aren't built like Superheros and are all different shapes and sizes. The uniform is definitely to keep the same portions but if you find something works better for you, run with it! You could add extra measurements for padding if you know what you will use. Every helmet is different though and it can be hard to know where it's going to need padding before it's printed and on your head. Good luck and if you find any awesome tips make sure to share with us ☺️
@@AstrocyteCosplay Sorry. I should have specified when regarding to making helmets. That is what I was referring to.
good morning ... how do I scale a batman helmet?
What particular problem are you having? The tips in this video should work for Batman too though lots of Batman cosplayers tend to use a flexible material so it fits nice and snug to your face. Also have this video on scaling that might also help. ua-cam.com/video/8wgkL-IdFnU/v-deo.html

Printed the entire helmet for Darth revan. Loaded the wrong file. Doesn't fit me. But fits my wife.
Haha yep that's a good one! Bonus for your wife! Have you since printed your own helmet?
I did something similar with Spider-Man web shooters, not the wrong size but was printing 3 different sections. Thought I was printing the third section and wasn't until it started looking like something I realised it was the second section again. Lucky I had to print two webshooters!!
@@AstrocyteCosplay I have not. Got side.tracked with building the Mando armor for my wife.
Awesome! That would be a cool build. I would love to build Bo Katan for myself one day and Mando for my hubby.
@@AstrocyteCosplay is been a fun build. All I have left is all the soft bits. I haven't even decided what to do for myself.
