this might just take the title of my favorite SMW romhack of all time. i still haven't seen anything that stands up to such god-tier levels as yellow switch palace, super serious fishing place, not roy's castle, etc
What an awesome TAS. Just finished watching the whole thing; really a great watch. There were so many fun little strats and super clever breaks. I would try to list them all, but there would just be too many to name. Great work!

Really, you did an awesome work! I’m still impressed. I can see many strats that I could implement to improve my own RTA time (not all those walljumps but some of better movement and fluidity through some levels lol) Congratulations! and thank you so much for such hard work you did in this TAS.
This is so cool. One thing, I don't understand why some TASers jump randomly while heading to the goal, it saves a little bit of time to just stay on the ground and build P-speed.
It depends on the situation. Sometimes getting P-Speed is faster, but in other cases keeping Mario's speed constant by jumping is faster. In most cases, I would test out both strategies, and either one would be just a few frames quicker than the other. It's far more practical for human players to just build P-Speed rather than perform the hopping glitch though.
Great TAS! And a very interesting hack of SMW. BTW, a few questions to ask: How do you stop time, while scrolling the screen, making an entering-pipe-like sound effect? How do you glide with the cape while on Yoshi?
The stopping time is just a feature in Super Mario World. You can hold L or R to scroll the screen and the game remains paused while that happens. This TAS uses it to unload and load sprites just right for better setups, it also uses it to skip a beat in that one level since the blocks are directly tied to the music instead of a separate in-game timer.
I'm not exactly sure what you are referring to when you say gliding with the cape while on Yoshi. You can fly into the air for a short period with Yoshi and the cape if you get P-Speed and then jump. There are some other more complex mechanics involving Yoshi and the cape, but I didn't use them in this TAS.
@@minishyoshi When I mean glide with cape and yoshi, I mean that TASs do it in such a way that when you get P-speed, jump and fly with the cape, then glide down to land on yoshi, Mario starts gliding with yoshi the exact same way you would without Yoshi.
@@stickychannel92 Ah, I think I understand what you mean. I haven't watched many SMW TASes so I'm not familiar with all of the precise and complicated ways they can start Yoshi Flight. I don't know too much about Yoshi Flight but I'm pretty sure you can initiate it by mounting Yoshi while in normal flight. You can reach a faster speed when flying compared to sprinting, so it can be a quicker method of getting through a level. In hacks not designed with tool usage in mind but require Yoshi Flight, Yoshi is generally suspended in the air to make the mounting process easier. You can't ever see what flight stage Mario is in when in Yoshi Flight, so if you don't have access to that information you have to guess if Mario is able to cape pump at any given time. When you go to cape pump with Yoshi, I think it's easiest to stick out Yoshi's tongue and then briefly hold down the direction opposite to the way you are travelling (such as briefly pressing left if you are trying to move to the right). You can also cape pump without sticking out Yoshi's tongue, but it's more difficult. Yoshi Flight overall is pretty precise and technical. As I said before, I don't know too much about this so I'm probably leaving out a lot of information and/or didn't remember everything correctly.
I'm not entirely sure if this is what you are looking for, but here is the SMV file: drive.google.com/file/d/18zw-_XB5EOljkjm76rVymmVKvUwGwoC4/view I think you can open this with TAS Movie Editor, but I have very little experience using it so I don't know if it leaves out any details. Regardless, as far as the actual inputs go, there is plenty of room for optimization.
As far as listening to the whole OST goes, the best thing I can think of is a folder containing .spc files of all of the songs that can be downloaded from here: www.smwcentral.net/?p=section&a=details&id=23778&r=0#comment-44239 You will need an SPC Player to play the tracks. It isn't the best way to listen to the entire OST but it is the only way I am currently aware of. You might be able to find portions of the soundtrack in a few videos. Some can be found here: www.youtube.com/@simfan96/search?query=yump%202
Before making this TAS, I didn't have a lua script (which would provide valuable in-game information such as Mario's speed), so I searched for one that I could use with my emulator, SNES9x 1.59.2. The lua script I came across seemed to be a bit on the older side and I couldn't figure out how to run it on my version of SNES9x, so I downloaded an older version of the emulator that had an option to run lua scripts in the "File" dropdown menu. Doing that seemed to work, so I stuck with it. My lack of knowledge related to emulators and lua scripting coupled with my eagerness to start working on this project led me to find a quick solution to my problem. There is probably a far better way to set everything up than what I ended up doing.

What music is used for "woody hoodoo voodoo"? 1:31:00
What music is used at 2:39:35 ?
The music in woody hoodoo voodoo is Primal Rave from DKC2, and the other song is YUMP 2 - Bowser's Castle, an original composition by sincx.
