I think the HOI4 mod Old World Blues uses some of this lore, though they moved to Washington rather than taking place in the Midwest. They do use "The Cause" as the rebel BoS faction, though. Maybe that'll be properly expanded in later patches when they expand the map into the Chicago area.

No not necessarily. He just referenced a Brotherhood scouting party "further east" (which could mean anywhere east from The Fort in Arizona. In Van Buren (which NV takes A LOT of inspiration and lore from), there was supposed to be something called the Maxson Bunker and the Circle of Steel who were addicted to stealth boys and driven insane. That is a much more likely possibility than Caesar taking over the Midwest BoS's "Main base of operations".

My dream fallout 5 is a game where, due to various events, the various chapters of the Brotherhood (California, Mojave, Washington/Boston, Midwest, Appliacia, Texas, and the Pit) meet in some location (I would choose Kansas City for it’s Geographic location being dead center of the continental US) to engage in reunification talks.
Such a location would also allow old factions from all other games to mess with them.

Loved the maps for this video. Really helps give a sense of scale to the powers that be. When playing Tactics I had no idea they moved THAT far and their bunkers were that spread out. Pacifying an area of the American Midwest of that size and scale with the battered remnants of the chapter would most certainly take many years, especially with how much resistance they encountered.
A lot of interesting lore Bethesda could use. I'd love to have them talk more about it, just a mention of skirmishes between the Legion and Midwest BoS- maybe them being driven out of Vault 0 and destroying it entirely on their way out... fun ideas.

you missed a spot in your legion playthru, if you second guess orders regarding the brotherhood. he says "my legion fought them before, we won, but it was costly, i'd prefer not to do it again."
there will be no mention of the legion because it is the next battle. in van buren. also "opportunistic raiders and bandits" is what many mistake the legion for but it is too late by then. the narrator in BOS tactics has a flare for romantics which explains all paradoxes, making your final conclusion, even with your mistake. the correct one.

What are the chances that while the midwest brotherhood did expand in power, they did not move westward enough to meet the other fractions expanded but say went south to control the Mississippi river? Sort of like in Egypt where we see Empires of past mainly focused around the area of the Nile river as it provided life but also an important transportation ion route.

I think a fight between a midwestern brotherhood that accepts mutants into their ranks and the eastern chapter would be neat. The idea of you meeting a Paladin in game who removes their helmet to reveal that they're a ghoul or supermutant could be really nice. It would also works well with the one eighty they did on the east coast chapter from Fallout 3 to 4. There could also be a good power dynamic where the east has more advanced tech but are much less numerous then the midwestern chapter.

The map graphics really help on this one. Something the surprised me is that during (or possibly even after Tactics) the Brotherhood didn't continue to move East or South - possibly leading to Fallout Miami and or references to Wasteland (I know it's a spiritual successor and not directly tied in).
Personally as a Midwesterner (IN) I really want to see what happened to more of the US (and the world's) food source. And maybe find more vaults, other companies, references to A Boy and his Dog or even Kingdom Come from DC Comics (a giant prison in Kansas that's hit with a nuke after a prison riot maybe?). What about the Native Americans in North and South Dakota? References to RoboCop in Detroit, MI, etc? So much untapped potential...

This is just a fan idea but you could combine all endings where the Warrior allows Barnaky (or a negative karma squadmate) to take over the Calculator, but quickly regrets it when the new AI turns out to be power-hungry and anti-mutant and chooses to destroy it instead. This would make both the destruction of the Calculator and the subsequent struggle without resources, AND the BOS internalsplit into the Mutant Liberation Army canon.
Explaining why they have disappeared almost completely, except for perhaps a few NPCs in future games to remember the tale, of how humanity's best chance to start over and all combined pre-war wisdom came to nothing because of human greed.

I think a new Fallout game that pits the East and West chapters against each other is imminent. We see how easily they'll fight each other with Steel Dawn and with Elder Maxim (or his replacement) leading the East, the incentive to combine the two by reclaiming the mid-west chapter would make for a great war...because war never changes.

14:46 As bad as the game is otherwise, Brotherhood of Steel set in 2208 DOES show us this. The remnants of the MLA sandwiched in the middle that weren't wiped out or forced to surrender ended up joining Attius's army near Carbon, Texas. Attius is probably the best part of the game, he's a good villain. He's a perfect super mutant(made more intelligent, just as strong, doesn't have the same ego issues that held back Lou Tenant) and he was one of the Master's top scientists. By 2208 he's figured out a way to alter the quadruple helix structure to allow for meiosis. Had he not been stopped, he would have cured the sterility problem and formed the Neo-Unity.
Honestly his one mistake was playing his hand too early because he wanted revenge on the BOS for everything and saw the Carbon Chapter as an easy target to wipe out.

I think Warrior sacrifice himself/herself without destroying Calculator and lead the BoS to a new goal with the combined force of Human, Robots, Ghouls, Super Mutants, Int Deathclaws. But focus on Northward to avoid contact with other BoS brands.
The story of cancelled Tactics 2 or Extreme. In first act you play as Canadian rebel against tyranny of BoS. So mostly Midwest BoS expand to the north and spend much resources to Canada thus they minimum contact with other in US for many reasons.

I Actually agree, with Oxhorn on this here, in his video. The 4th ending is most likely to have been the closest possible ending, but beside that, In The Chicago area, The Enclave, would have gained ground not long after the destruction of The Calculator, ( THIS EXPLAINS ) why The so called Midwestern Brotherhood Chapter was Pushed after their numbers dropped tremendously... This Enclave with older veteran Soldiers, Blended themselves into The Population there near Chicago. From there down to St. Louis, So around 2252 The remaining Midwest Brotherhood then took shelter near Ronto after scavenging the entire area over A Five year span... They found A place far North of Ronto ( Toronto Canada )... This is where they began to swell thier numbers, with The Palace Temple of This New Allegiance, making this Brotherhood far different from any other of the known chapters so far... Bringing Thier religious beliefs, to the side, Helping Wastelanders, and many other villages, n smaller factions over the years to gain numbers showing they uphold A lawful strategy, over your Common Raider groups ect, to one Day have A large enough Army to take back Chicago n it's surrounding Towns n grounds from The Enclave who pushed them out A few decades before... This is why Ishmael Ashur, even mentioned Ronto, in his speech... How they envy The Pitt... Who ever is This New leader of this Chapter of This Brotherhood don't see Ashur as much of A threat, but they do want or need his Services... His access, so they can get Guns Ammo, Armored parts for thier New slick Power Armor, with It's Midwestern Brotherhood Ideology, n It's Newly style of Armored Platings. After The Pitt DLC, I believe There are trades made between the two ! But once This Brotherhood got what they needed, they closed down any other trades this has made Ashur resort to A different plan... Which we'll all see soon... In A future Game...!!!!! Well I Hope you all enjoyed that... Thanks Guys... N True Follower Out...!!!!!

Something tells me that the only cannon taken from Tactics/BoS is that those people exist and not their actions. Sort of like a “Well, they left and we have no clue what happened to them or what theyve done” in the grand scheme of the Bethesda universe. They probably done it to make their Fallout universe seem more diverse and far reaching than it really is and perhaps to tease potential future titles.

Thta and individual minor events or details that establish their presence in some form but don't stop them from redoing things in a different story they decide to make later. They don't want to say that the BoS aren't there or haven't been there because that limits their stories and until they are ready to make those stories they want to keep their options open. Though there is conflict with all 4 endings. Even the calculator destruction ending. Becuse that still creates conflict with the Legion that does not exist in the official canon.

I really hope that Bethesda plans to make Fallout Tactics again. It's possible the first half of Fallout Tactics (minus the reference to the robot army) all happened. When Lyons' chapter passed through they found them but as several characters mention, the midwestern chapter has "gone rogue" meaning they want nothing to do with anyone that came from the west. Perhaps Bethesda plans to redo Fallout Tactics from the ground up? Maybe they'll make it so the midwestern chapter has kinda just been trying to survive for the last 100 years or so in Chicago, but then the events of Fallout Tactics will take place in their remake or re-do of the story in whatever future game they plan on.

I hope so I would love too play a Fallout in a less civilized area with great tracks of land like the mid west. We could run in too Rad cougars, paddle fish, or even bison the vast farmlands would be a great place too introduce vehicles back into the Fallout franchise. The main character an his vault can be saved by the brotherhood of steel from a vicious pack of gophers or something for all I care as a child an helps them expand or be destroyed by joining the gopher king.

A Mid-west Fallout Game feels a bit overdue, especially now that the East is being developed, and so early in the time line with Vault 76. (Whether or not that gets the same fate as Tactics we'll be seen) I've done some fan art of very minor things of what I like to imagine St. Louis looks like after these events (and some general fallout fanart of prewar structures as I live in the midwest) and wonder if theres a way to share it? If nothing more than to toot my own horn of "I did this", but at most, get some curious feed back?

This is why 30 years before Fallout 3's timeline, is roughly about the moment that was ( The Scourge ) by then The Midwestern Brotherhood Chapter had already been pushed out of the Chicago area A Few Years before, When Elder Lyons, came through... He couldn't find The Midwest Chapter anywhere, because they had already been holding up in camps in Areas North of ............( Toronto Canada ) aka Ronto, This would explain how this could be... Anyways I hope this clears that Up.... For any further Fallout Games.... Until then.... True Follower Out...!!!!!

I think there is also an another possibility with the 4th ending destroying calculator . Its mentioned that in Chicago there is group of outcasts and that Brotherhood from midwest was weak in the 4th ending . My theory suggests that Enclave probably encountered the weak midwest Brotherhood which to for some reason didnt really got strong over years and succeded only partly in rebuilding the midwestern wasteland . Later they were crushed by Enclave forces fleeing east and only thing left from the midwestern brotherhood is a small group of remnants who survived and settled down near Chicago . There is also a chance that brotherhood was destroyed by another threat ,maybe a civil war in it destroying most of remaining forces or even the faction lost power through time and during the Lyons Expedition there were only few remnants of this faction.

Personally, I had some issues with Tatics on a story and lore level. I liked the beginning and how the airship fleet went out and most of it got downed. But after that, there come a lot of issues. I feel that the is to large in scale. The Midwestern chapter becomes really strong and conquers a lot of territory too fast. Essentially removing a lot of other possible avenues for other future Fallout projects. The game kills the possibility for further story development in over half the world of Fallout. That being said, this game throws a lot of fun concepts out there that I would like to see continued in Fallout.

I agree, the destruction of the calculator is the only ending that would make sense. IIRC somewhere is mentioned that there is/was an Enclave outpost in Chicago, if they gone active and threatens the Midwest BOS, this could be a reason to pull back their forces to Chicago and weakens them enough to go into hiding.

Well, I believe within the 84 years, Another New Generation of The Enclave Army, would have pushed into the Chicago area, began to battle This Small rogue Brotherhood of Steel... So The Elders, decided to allow The Enclave to control the area, then they traveled around through The State of Michigan crossing The United States of America & Canada Boarder.... then Aiming thier reconstruction of Thier Faction, to lay low, building thier forces... come upon.. A Grand Caven... North of Ronto... this place becomes The Greatest Base ever build by Any of The Brotherhood of Steel... after some time, they began to see that some Ghouls are resourceful & not Thier Enemy... allowing None Feral Ghouls to then Join The Ranks of This New Found Allegiance of Steel... still known as The Brotherhood of Steel, but under A new found Agenda.... After 20 some odd years, Then Supermutants, That came to them in peace, They too, were expected By The New High Elder, who was Crowned... to be More as A King... with this new Empire, They began to send Scouts, back West... finding The Enclave, has now taken thier focus off of Chicago... So The Brotherhood then see's Ronto... as The Perfect place to keep thier Main HQ, hidden as A secret... only to Members, of High enough rank Are allowed entrance..... this too changes... years after... but One must have Moved up forward enough to become A Lieutenant in The Brotherhood of Steel's Allegiance Forces..... for The Safety of The Secrecy of The HQ, & The High Elders well being...!!!!! This is why... No matter Fallout Tactics ending.. You cant see How Its ending.. would match up to be Canon!!!!!!!

  • @hitomisalazar4073
    @hitomisalazar4073 3 роки тому

I always figured the canonical ending was the one where you destroy the Calculator myself. It's kind of the "Honorable" path for The Warrior. Since the Chicago Brotherhood's entire point was to defend the tribals that had sworn loyalty to them. Destroying the Calculator was the only way to really live up to those oaths. Including for The Warrior his own tribe that he was recruiting from. There's no promises that whatever brain would join the Calculator would somehow not be subsumed into the Calculator's twisted visions and start up the whole thing again.
The Warrior is just that. A Warrior. Not necessarily a scholar. Someone who would do what the need to do in order to follow their orders and their ideals.
It's also the ending that does the least harm as it were. If you destroy the Calculator the fate of the Chicago Brotherhood is kind of just limited to the MIdwest. They don't (or won't) interact with the other regions of the Fallout games for many, many decades. Thus leaving it open ended for a potential followup.
Now... the one I think that was the most interesting ending is if Barnaky became one with the Calculator. Because ultimately the set up of the Brotherhood preparing for War with the NCR/Lost Hills/Ceaser's Legion, with the Mutant Liberation Army stuck between them? That's a good set up for a Fallout game to exploit. You have a new region that would be covered (Colorado and Utah perhaps). You have multiple factions involved (The Khan Empire to the North perhaps, NCR/Brotherhood alliance to the West, Chicago Brotherhood to the East, Legion to the South, and Mutant Liberation Army in the middle).

In those few years Many Manufactured Parts were exchanged, from Ashur To The Midwestern Brotherhood Chapter... This then created A short lived Tready, This Brotherhood isnt for Slavery, Thier beliefs, are against it, but They settled the differences. To gain Thier advantage to have the equipment to soon make War, with The Enclave Units, who had them removed from The Chicago area... With full intentions to retaliate, when Thier forces have these Supplies & Gear, This is A war, that is due, to come into A future Fallout Game.... Well, Ox, you assume, that nothing significant happened between the Fallout Tactics endings and the next Fallout games. The ending narrations may refer to just a couple of decades after the game. A lot of unwritten yet stories could happen later. For example, a civil war in the BOS and Calculator alliance, which destroyed them both.

  • @YukishiroShikaze

I think the 5th ending is what happened, the warrior and the MWBoS simply died. Some of the dialogue from FO3/4/NV did state that they didn't receive any news or even rumors of BoS presence or any group resembling them when Lyons went through the area. He didn't even encounter any of the bunkers or even simple outposts set up by the MWBoS. This MAY mean that they just failed and died like what happened to the Appalachian BoS and their remains and tech was picked clean leaving nothing left for Lyons to encounter. This "ending" does have it's own plot holes but it still is possible considering how dark Fallout truly is.

  • @indigosteel5702

I ABSOLUTELY agree with this assessment! When I was first playing this years ago, I came to the same conclusion that "destroy the Calculator" was the canon ending because it not only allowed the Warrior to survive in one piece, but also allowed for potential sequels if the Brotherhood still had to struggle despite now having the resources of Vault 0.
On a related note, I REALLY wish they'd been able to make Fallout Tactics 2; the story was, and I quote:
"The game would have focused on an irradiated G.E.C.K. that was creating mutant plants and fungi. The mutant garden begins to spread fairly rapidly, preying upon animal life for fertilizer. The player character is tasked with discovering the source and a way to put an end to it." Awesome.

Like the Van Graffs from the canceled Fallout 3 becoming a minor plot arc and gang in New Vegas. Or the "Vault Tec was responsible for nuking the world" from the Fallout Movie pitch getting turned into Vault Tec cracking into a nuclear weapon assembly plant to keep launching nukes willy nilly in 76.

His "other backstory" of being an NCR scientist means he's a big part of NCR society as well, making him even more formidible (HE could be the Director of the OSI). His master plan involved using the New Plague if I remember correctly, making finding a cure a major quest (like Macready's son on a bigger scale). My question is, why was there a mention of an enclave refueling station in NV, but there’s nothing in Tactics that support that bit of lore? The fourth ending could also allow the Enclave in Chicago to still exist. As is stated in NV. A chapter trying to rebuild itself in no shape to expand could mean the two haven't met yet or if they did the BoS were not in a position of strength to fight them. Or the Enclave never had to worry about them the BoS were so little they were never a threat to them so why waste resourses dealing them? Or they just left them as the MW BoS faded away. Or some of them were absorbed into the Chicago detachment of the Enclave.
I believe though the best way to put this whole thing to rest is to do another spin off single player game like NV the NV2 people are asking for but set it in Chicago and put to rest indefinitely what was canon and what wasnt. Bethesda can still keep to their storytelling on the east coast with their numbered Fallout games. I want to know tbh if Vault 0 and the brain themselves are canon as there is no reference of them at all in Bethesda Fallouts. No one speaks of stories about a vault and its army of robot servants.

I believe the Barnaky ending still could be canon. like you said groups like Caesars Legion never say never said they met a group of mutants or fought the midwestern brotherhood you just have to look to their centurions. The centurion's armor is made up of the gear of the opponents they have defeated for example a power armor pauldron, combat armor boots and mutant scrap armor for the breastplate and cap that had to be looted from somewhere. we can't forget the centurions who serve the monster of the east who put Colorado to the sword are equipped with marksman carbines, super sledges, thermic lances and even anti material rifles that's a pretty advanced arsenal for just a tribal force unless they looted it from a sophisticated adversary. not to mention Caesars knowledge on brotherhood self-destruct protocol when the courier asks for more info on their target. just something to think about

  • @cobaltprime9467
    @cobaltprime9467 3 роки тому

The good ending could be canonical or at least canonized by a few key retcons. 1. The Midwest Brotherhood didn’t set up the meeting with the Elders at Vault 0 until some point AFTER the events of New Vegas. They didn’t spread farther west right away and eventually do clash with the Legion and wipe them out or at least weaken them 3. The Legion never settled past the mountains, never finding Vault 0 and most of the the MW chapter was dispatched to its eastern territories to built up the settlements so they could still hold those territories 3. Lyons made his way East too quickly, just barely missing any interactions with the MW chapter.
    It’s… messy… but doable.

When the Enclave remnants were passing through the Midwest on the way to Raven Rock they were pretty depleted. Since it was basically just survivors from Navarro. By which time the Midwestern BoS probably would have been strong enough to fend them off. Never mind all of the other hazards in the area, due to the Calculator's destruction being the only possible canon ending for Tactics, if they keep that plot string.
