Felting Machine - What it is and how it works. Elna 505 Felting Machine demonstration

Felting machines are amazing machines that add a whole new dimesion to textile art. I bought my felting machine about 2 years ago and I am still infatuated with it. Its a wonderful machine that is capable of adding that extra special touch to your work.
In this video I briefly show you the Elna 505 machine (no I am not sponsered by Elna, this just happens to be the name of my machine). I also go through the effect that the felting machine has when felting a previously crocheted motif, as well as the different effects one get when felting different fabric types onto a cotton background.

Thank for this informative video! I have a new to me felting machine but have not yet come across replacement needles. Where do you purchase the needles?

Hi Laura, I got mine from the Elna shop where I bought the machine (in Cape Town, SA). I just had a look online and it says that the Janome needles will fit in the Elna, and a few other brands. I am not sure what brand you have? But it seems you can order them online. My other suggestion would be to check on the website of the brand of your machine and see if they can recommend any retailers. Good luck, hope this helps.

Will the felted material come out if you don’t embroider over it?

Hi. No it does not come out of its firmly felted into the fabric. The item can only be handwashed after felting or you will loose lots of fibers on your washing machine. But otherwise your fibers will stay put.
