  • On this episode of Tom Talks, we discuss and drive a particular car that Tom’s wanted to obtain since he was 11 years old.
This car is one of the seven right-hand drive Ferrari Daytona Spyders and with just 15,000 miles from new, it’s the most original of them all!
We hope you love it as much as we all do!

Love the fact Tom Jr reviews the singular car, and not the model as a whole. It's history and life. The most interesting car reviewer out there.
Not telling us about boot space and how many horsepower it has. Goes against the grain.
    Keep them coming Tom

Thanks for the reminder Tom. I had a '73 converted Daytona Spyder, and you brought back a lot of the memories. Shame you didn't take it to 7,700 rpm. There is no sound like it. Your viewers would have really enjoyed that!.

My second time of seeing one of these RHD Daytona spider’s. The first being whilst on a Ferrari driving holiday in Scotland & one day we visited a famous Distillery. The family who owned it also collected cars. They brought their RHD Daytona Spider out to greet us. I sat in it’s driving seat. A memorable moment from 1989.
Thank-you Tom for re-awakening my moment with one of these wonderful cars!

For crying out load, the plural of spider is spiders. It's is a contraction: it is. Its is possessive.

Beautiful car. I am not the biggest fan of red interiors but that looks absolutely amazing. The fact that Bonzo owned it makes the CV that much more impressive.

    Hi Tom.
A superb video, as usual, and brings back a memory that you may be able to confirm.
My dad used to race karts in the early 80’s and we used to pass through Bramley on the way to and from the track. Occasionally we used to stop in and have look around the showroom. I remember a Daytona Spider used to be deep inside the place and from memory it was red with black interior, registration X7. My overriding memory as a young lad- I was maybe 9 years old- was that on the transmission tunnel was a small hole in the leather- Probably for a dial or small detail like a badge or something like that and I’ve never forgotten it!
High on the wall beside it was a large picture, I believe, of both X5 and X7 in a hay field…..
Thank you for buying this car and reigniting this memory!
    Regards
    Richard

Way back in the 1980's, at around 14 years of age, I too saw, in fact sat in a certain right hand drive Daytona Spyder. It still belongs to the same friend, who, as you mentioned, owns two of them now.
The car made the hairs on my neck stand up, and whenever I get to see it now, it still does the same.
For me, I am not able to buy one, but should I ever be in that position, it would be a keeper to the grave.
Love the history, the emotion and the memory, one that will always be yours, as my 35 year old memory will never leave me.
    Great Video. Many Thanks

I remember this car from the same showroom - I fell in love it with too - it was sitting next to a silver Maserati Ghibli Spyder when I first saw it. The Maserati is a very rare and special car, but X5 had it all! The last time I heard of it was in the car park, with top down, at one of the Goodwood events, but this is the first time I have actually heard it, so thank you! I remember the finish on the rear deck too!

Brilliant and fascinating review. Always been my poster car the daytona growing up watching early miami vice. It was a good year 72 👍🏻

    • @ajwasp
      @ajwasp 2 роки тому

The Miami vice Daytona car was a Corvette underneath, so in fact it was a kit car and not original at all. I believe Ferrari weren’t too happy about what the show was doing to reputation of the Daytona, and therefore with a bit of help from Ferrari, the show changed to an original Ferrari Testarossa instead. The Daytona was never real at all.

Thanks for sharing that fabulous car. I have an acquaintance whose father was a friend of my father's in the late 50s. We lived in the hills in Adelaide, Australia. He was one of the first Ferrari guys in Australia and imported several in his life. He left his son one of the 14 rhd 275GTS cars. Plus a couple of others. It sat on loan in a museum for years. I tried many times to buy the car but unfortunately missed out on it. That's about 8-9 years ago when they were not stupidly expensive. I'm just as happy with my 575M, which is the final iteration of the great line of classic front engined V12 Ferrari's. Sure it's not a manual, but it's superb to drive and almost as cool as a Daytona. IMO. I thoroughly enjoy your presentations and the knowledge you impart. I hope you do keep this special car. The red/black interior is a knockout. I once had a 355 GTS, Argento Nuburgring over a full red interior, which looked stunning.

I also know the car from also seeing it on Display back in the 1980's with a huge asking price for the time and a few other interactions since. I see it still it still has the DMS signature prancing horses on the centre console and boot lid. Have to disagree that the Spyder is better to drive the the Berlinetta though, I actually think they#re equally special.

I don't get it Tom ,the paint on that Ferrari is cracking after so many years how could preserve it's price on the market that way? also another dumb question : if you'll send it to Classiche Ferrari for a paint job would that lower it's price? ps. I don't think England is that cold in winter if you venture driving roofless .
