Thanks for the tut! You can also use "Layer" Shaders in the Shader Field and the Displacer. Allows for some interesting interactions between shaders. Especially when you use the "Layer Mask" option in the Layer shader. You can also use "Distorter" within the layer Shader.
Hey EJ, not sure how to reach out so thought I should put a comment here. I just wanna say, I am taking your C4D course on C4D Basecamp, School of MOtion and its incredible. I learned so much from the lighting lesson. I can use this for both modeling and for professional film making. I am able to see lighting techniques everywhere in film. Lighting used to be super hard for me - and you made it so simple. I just wanna say, thank you man. You're really awesome. Also, a question (this ust occurred to me): a. The area light in C4D. We can think of it as a softbox in real life right? (of course, given the Outer Radius/area is large) Thanks man! Please upload more tutorials here also! Learning so much!
Yea, redshift handles them like a champ too. Great tut EJ glad too see you using redshift too :) you can use this method to make cloud dinosaurs and cars etc. Very fun. I had tut on it a few years ago :)
Thanks for this tutorial. But I have a question about it. You start with spheres and you give the spheres a displacer. Than you do all the other steps and you get a cloud. If I do the same steps, I get a different result. Where the spheres are overlapping, there is no cloud. It looks like some boolean interaction between the spheres, very strange. It makes no difference if the spheres have a displacer or not. I'm using Cinema 2023.2.2 and Redshift. In the camera view the shape looks alright, but in the RS render the gaps between the spheres are visible. I can't get it right. Maybe you know how to fix this? (Of course I can make one object of the spheres, but than I loose the flexability of the clouds. So I hope I can find a solution for this problem.)
Very good tutorial for me. Is it possible to bake the shader field on object or near tips do you have? I wanna animate the cloud position with simmulation...
I have a question about animation. I am new to C4D and just learning in's and out. I come from blender so I am familiar with a bit of stuff. I have a animation of a girl in the prone position rolling once to her right with a gun in hand pose, but no gun. I am trying to put a pistol in her hand. I bring the piston in, drag it in the objects tab from the top to underneath the hand bone. when i click play, the gun goes all wonky and doesn't stay in the right position. Any help would be appreciated. I have searched high and low across the internet, forums, reddit, youtube, even C4D sights and no help. Thanks.
...At least on my setup with two 3090... Come on EJ, Are you kidding , or you want to humiliate us. what is slow on your computer? By the way, I love what you do and your teaching style man✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌
I tried putting an VDB file (via VOLUME LOADER) into the volume builder and using the fog setting thinking I could apply the noises to subtract with noise patterns out of an existing cloud VDB.. but it didnt look like it was going to work (things got heavy and nothing happened. LOL).. Anybody else try that?
it might be a limitation with Volume Builders that you can't load Volume Loaders - what i would do instead is mesh the object and use that object mesh instead.
I'm having issues with the set point value tool. I currently transitioned from r21 to s22 and for some odd reason real-time update doesn't work like in previous versions. I have to press apply in the attribute manger every time I want to center vertices. Does anyone have any solutions? Pc Msi gf63 thin NVIDIA 1650 max-q

"The Return of the King," haha. Really interesting! I always wanted to know how to make clouds like that
glad to hear it!!! thanks for watching!

looking forward to the third time i watch this, when it will start to stick. lots of gasps of enjoy, thank you.
Enjoy!
Wow never knew you could do this in C4D ~ very handy, although I'd still recommend Houdini for things like this
i'd recommend using Houdini for MANY things but that learning curve is STEEP! 😅
Great tutorial I should use volumes more often 🤙🏾
Yeah man a ton you can do with fields & volumes to art direct simpler forms without the need of XParticles!
@@eyedesyn yes a much simpler solution 100%

this was dope excited to make my own stylized clouds. thanks for the tutorial bud!
thanks for watching my friend!!!
Helpful. Thanks again.
Glad it was helpful!
This tutorial is a gold mine of tips and tricks!
Thank you so much!
Happy to hear that! Thanks for watching!
dude soooo good! learned alot as always ❤️❤️❤️
thanks so much man!!!!
nice alternative to an overrealistic cloud simulations
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching!
Your the best, thanks! 🙌
How different would this be for Octane?
The VDB creation process is exactly the same, the only thing different would be the Volume material part. 👌

SO great.
thanks so much, james!!! really appreciate that ☺
Need more new Tutorials please !!! we miss you !
More to come!! Thanks for watching! :)
@@eyedesyn Thank You
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Than you man

hahaha a lot is still slow on my computer ;) Thanks for watching!
nice tut! Yet it says the prj file is free to download but that doesn't seem the case once you click the link. Am I missing something?
eyedesyn.gumroad.com/l/phwws and read the description for the free download code!

@@eyedesyn good idea. I will try it out! nice!
The code isn't working for the clouds on gumroad :(

Guyyyys, how to get redshift for cinema r25?
Maxon One...also Redshift CPU is free in S26!

It might have been a bug, perhaps they updated this in later versions? There's a lot of wonky stuff since C4D has been updating their UI
For some reason they do not render in Cinema 2023 with Octane render
there's a different workflow for VDBs in Octane - Ill have to do a tut on this in the future
