What do you think of Anna's bike? Would you change anything?
This looks awesome - so different from current crop of DH race bikes!
Cheers
Owen
I'd be ok with anything except the frame and suspension but at that point I'd just change the entire bike. Don't get me wrong, it's great to have weird and unusual looking bikes when most of the industry is going a certain way but this one is just not my kind of weird. I'm not convinced I need high pivot either.
Maybe the Shimano rotors other than that the bike looks great. As a fan of steel it's nice to see such bikes on podiums. She rides steel, hates internal routing and wrenches on her own bike. Hats off to Anna!
Not Sold on steel already looks like it's starting to bend at the head tube slightly. I doubt that's part of the head tube angle, but maybe? Steel, overall, has snapped on me so many times in my downhill days at the rear shock pivot on the frame (the rear end folds up). Haha! Test pilot gear should be banned from racing until approved or released to public It's not fair on other riders. It doesn't matter what it is: tires, gearboxes, or black box stuff. I don't agree with that being used! I won't even talk about corrosion!

I was just talking to the owner of Contra recently, I'm so glad you guys made this video, he needs the support and congrats to Anna!
Best vid I've seen on this channel for a long time. Cool rider and beast of a bike.
Love it! Anna is awesome and that bike is incredible. Steel, external routing, threaded BB and made in California..... everything a great bike should have.
More bike checks please!~ 😎
The contra is my dream bike, it is so awesome to see it on the podium.
Two excellent personalities being displayed in this most informative and fun video. Thanks Rich!
Great looking bike and good that it's a steel frame 😎🦾
Best tech interview ever !
Cool bike !!! Steel
Is real and Anna is awesome!!! Great interview. Love this video.
External cables and threaded BB👍👍 Nice.
Best of luck this remaining season!
I think she's possibly right about the tire inserts
WoW 👌 😊 Perfect DH bike and that girl is a sweetheart and smart. She knows her stuff 😊 Carbon and alloys for cross country, trails and enduro. Steel or chromoly for DH 🤪🤟
These are the bicycles ❤ , steel is REAL !!!
Gorgeous bike. So cool to see external routing on a pro bike
What a bike! And no inserts 👏🏽
Coolest bike so far in my opinion
That bike is really impressive! And seems like it has some speed aswell. Or is just brilliant performance of Anna?
I want to see this bike with wider and thinner tubes.
The rider is great.
Cheers from Greece.
she is really chill and deserves her succes, however I'm pretty sure she wont ride steel next season, because some big team will pick her up unless she decides to follow her own way
No rebound is crazy!
#ASKGMBNTECH can i put a 44mm offset fork on a frame that has a 42mm offset fork spec? And what does it mean?
Greeting!
Ooo this is a great question!
Off set & trail are very interesting topics!
We'll aim to get this answered in a forthcoming Ask GMBN Tech!
Cheers
Owen
Don't forget CHRO-MAG bicycles .
Anyone know what 10 speed to run on a dh bike? I hate 7 speed!
Shimano Saint RD-M820-SS or Zee RD-M640-SS with a road cassette.
Ooo good question -
Shimano has dedicated - entry point 10 speed MTB group set - called CUES - its the "U6000" series thats 10 speed - but SRAM have 10 speed drivetrain options too!
Cheers
Owen
@OwenBikeNerd im currently on sram xo1 7 speed and need abit of a lighter gear to get up a few hills when riding more trail oriented stuff rather than downhill all the time
@@Liam1992 CUES & the SRAM 10 Speed options are great to trail riding too - CUES has some "Linkglide" cassettes which shimano designed to last much much longer - ok its not as light as the other non "Linkglide" items - but that could be a great option!
We'll try and do more on CUES and similar drivetrain options soon!
Cheers
Owen
Im thinking Deore 42tooth cassette (all steel=durable), xt derailleur and saint shifter.
Press fit bottom brackets are as good as the manufacturer's tolerances and the bike mechanic who installed it...
Not saying bike mechanics are not really qualified or manufacturers QC is trash but it's often the case.
Threaded BB's are often non concentric but people don't care. They should since it will absolutely creak and destroy the bearings before their actual service life, and could fuze in place as they always did in the past when QC was even worse ...
Agree that they're lots of factors for pressfit and thread BB's -
But many bike mechanic are qualified - lots of countries have dedicated courses and study programmes to become qualified.
Cheers
Owen
i have ridden with many creaking pressfitt buddies, but my threaded bb´s have five years service life, as in not even cleaned, never creaking........
Brooklyn machine works did it first.
ok so basically the tuning range of the suspension is not enough for her weight, too much damping.
