I have never been a puma guy ever, but the silhouette of the shoe is really speaking to me. It screams that it is meant for an individual who would rather stand out more.
Puma running shoes are very underrated. I bought the Velocity Nitro 2 one year ago and I've run 800km with them. I bought the Nike Pegasus ate the same time and I've only ran 200km with them, and that show how much I prefer the Velocity Nitro 2 than the Pegasus 39. And they are always on sale, so I payed 55€ (60USD or so) which was a real bargain. I have 3 more pairs of shoes for my "normal" runs and I use the Puma most of the time. They're great, I'll buy the Deviate Nitro 2 as my interval training shoe, they're very comfortable and quite cheap because they're on sale very often.
Sales on puma in the USA are rare, Europe always saying on sale hard to find puma in USA frequently low availability, not easy to find at all let alone on sale . Usually can only buy direct from their website.
Thanks. As a Puma guy, that was great. I would also add the Magnify 2 in there as an alternative to the ForeverRun. I have both and the ForeverRun is the more stable of the two, but I really like the Magnify 2 for the comfort and the upper.
I think the ForeverRun is going to be a bit more stability oriented in future versions, so I will be switching over to the Magnify for 2024. I haven't tried that one yet.
@@kofuzi Deviate Nitro 2 and Magnify Nitro 2 is an impeccable combination. Deviate for workouts and Magnify for daily easy miles. Puma removed the Men's Magnify Nitro 2 from it's site for a while, but its back now!

Theres a video on Mollys YT channel called ”getting scientifically faster”, where they’re testing a new Puma racing shoe. They were doing the comparison runs between this new Fast-R 2 and the new mystery shoe. In the end when they looked at the data, the mystery shoe turned out to be noticeably more efficient compared to Fast-R 2. By zooming in on the blurred shoe names, you can pick out certain letters, to a point where you can quite easily figure it out to be the upcoming Deviate Nitro Elite 3, possibly ready for the Paris Olympics(?)
I haven't seen the video but I totally believe the story. Thing is, the Deviate Elite will be faster for some people and the Fast-R will be for others. If you're the one on the treadmill designing it, it will be designed for you.
Agree totally about ForeverRun, picked it up last month on sale, and as a neutral runner don't need the stability, but turns out its a great easy day cushioned option that I end up reaching for when my legs feel beat up from a long run or workout.
I’m a huge fan of Puma, I have the Deviate Nitro 2 and two pairs of the Velocity Nitro 2. I’d love a pair of these but I’m just not fast enough. They do look extremely cool though.
Puma shoes are really good for my feet configuration. They just feel good. I'm using the Velocity Nitro 2, Deviate Nitro 2 and ForeverRun. Nice video. Will keep this one under my radar.
Observing your stride, I can safely say that we share a very similar foot strike and toe-off. It's good to get your take on how this shoe feels on-foot, given the similarities in strides, and as I've had good luck with other Puma shoes over the last couple of years, I may try this one out for my next season of racing. Thnx.
I used to be a puma guy when i was young, i though there's nobody better, of course they are the old school company. They basically leverage the rest of the world as they are popular for soccer.
I picked up the first version of the Fast-R on clearance for $150. It forces you to run one speed only, fast! It was hot and tiresome after 8-10K. Will have to give the new foam a try once they go on sale.
Tried out at the local store, feels like a Qiaodan Plaid using TPE foam toi.The Qiaodan Plaid has a more aggressive rocker , more bouncy and half the or price.
The shoe looks awesome. I have just bought the v.1 and use them specifically for intervals and fast runs. I don't know what people like in "ordinary looking shoes". I also immediately liked the Nike Alphafly, which look similar and many people find ugly
Great video, I've just bought the Alphafly 3 and think that will be the super shoe of 2024 but the Puma looks impressive. Endorphin Pro 3 did not seem enough of a lift over the Endorphin Speed 3 for me and I sold mine.
Thanks for reviewing this one. When will be the release date? and considering the previous version, do you find this iteration to be a better (or more complete) one? Thanks again.

Hopefully some of that technology trickles down.

Personally, I have trained with it perhaps half a dozen times so far. But I do test a wide variety of shoes, so it’s far less than a typical runner would. If your question is asking how often would a typical runner use a shoe of this type, the answer would be for most speed sessions and races, so 1-2 times per week
Sure, no problem. Is the upper of the shoe comfortable? is it better than the one in adidas pro 3? Looking for my next marathon soft shoe and wanted to know if I should go with adidas or puma since I own magnify. Many thanks! @kofuzi
great review as always, kofuzi! am curious whats your workout schedule like as a non elite runner? how much do you run weekly especially when you incorporate mileage to test out running shoes - maybe a vlog about it would be nice!
An adidas rep said that the evo pro 1 used by the German marathoner in Berlin already had around 100 miles before running the marathon. It seems that the “one time use” is an urban legend
Yeah, it's too heavy to be in a super shoe category when you compare it with Wave Rebellion Pro or Alphafly not to mention the previous version had durability issues with the plate where it snaps into two regardless of the mileage of the shoe. Puma sticking with this design language but they also need to make this shoe more approachable from the consumer's perspective.

My untested hypothesis is that it gives compressed foam a place to go that might otherwise push an impact force up into the pads of the feet
