    Very nice. Love the design of the one in the tutorial. "does anyone have my sissors?" That made me chuckle. Thanks for the video.

    I have a huge bag of these that I made Pre pandemic for craft fairs. I used all scraps for them. They turned really nice.

    I love your videos! Sorry if this is a strange question but how do you easily sew a 1/4” seam when the excess fabric under the top piece is covering the seam guidelines on the needle plate? I’ve made a few bookmarks and I end up eyeballing it. Tell me your secrets 😂

    • @PinCutSew
      @PinCutSew  11 місяців тому +3

      Usually there’s a spot on the presser foot that is a good guide. Or on some, the edge of the presser foot is 1/4”. But honestly, after you’ve been sewing for awhile, eye balling it is pretty darn accurate 😁

      You can buy a special 1/4 inch foot for your machine I’m a patchworker so use mine all the time worth it. You can also mark the 1/4 inc with a build up of tape

    Great little tutorial! Thank you for sharing. Fantastic project for small scraps. I liked that you showed how to layer the sandwich and how to turn it out correctly. (It's not unknown for my batting to end up on the outside, lol! 😂 I should make a diagram for myself of this, as I will forget if I don't get round to it for a while😂

    I was looking for a sewing project that my 10 year old daughter could make for her teachers as an end of year present and this popped up in my notifications! So pleased as it is really lovely, easy, scrap busting and easy to personalise. What more could I ask for?! Thank you!! Xx

    When you quilt the top, can I just sew regularly and make lines? Sorry I am not sure the difference between quilting and sewing and am still a beginner sewer. Do I have to change thread or foots to do the top design ?

    • @PinCutSew
      @PinCutSew  Рік тому +3

      Yes, on small things like this, your regular foot will work fine. You can use a walking foot on larger projects though, and it makes quilting much easier! It just keeps all the layers moving along together without bunching.

    Thank you for your tutorial. It is really great. I have been sewing up my first bookmark. My question: when you say to top stitch, do you mean 1/4" ?

    • @PinCutSew
      @PinCutSew  2 роки тому +1

      Top stitching is closer, about 1/8” is perfect 👍🏻

    Could I use the iron on fusible fleece instead of batting? I’ve found that’s easiest for me to work with as a beginner. :)

    • @PinCutSew

      You can but they’ll be floppy. I would try to put something inside, even if it’s just a piece of flannel or something.

  • @amc5936

    to do a propoer tutorial you need to show every step incluing the sewing part. and would maybe get more fallowers.

    • @PinCutSew
      @PinCutSew  2 роки тому +6

      My tutorials do assume people know how to use their sewing machine, it’s true. I’ve had many say they appreciate not wasting time by showing every seam, but I’m sure that’s not for everyone! I’m very thankful for the 40K subscribers I do have and this is what works for me (and them) for now :)

      @@PinCutSewI’ve just discovered your channel I’m from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 and love your calm way you teach. Easy to follow. I’m up way to late checking out your videos. I sell books on eBay sadly don’t get time to read much but going to make some of these plus the book covers to give as gifts. Great way to use up scraps. Well done. I love that you don’t have sewing as when I’m watching videos at 4am I’m not disturbing others by the loud noise of the machine
