This is really cool. Generally manual modeling tends to always be symmetrical which leaves an artificiality tone. This new technology as well as photogrammetry help in the authenticity of the model.

FYI this addon is only perfect for scuplting if youre looking for shortcut ... the result wont be matching your references in Ortho... so yeah ill just stick with modeling the whole head from scratch as theyrwe not very symmetrical ...

Hi! I have a problem with the texture. The software creates a texture randomly (like it didn’t find the eyes and the mouth from the photos) from the photos I used for modelling. Can you please help me?

Are you referring to Character Creator 3 (CC3) from Reallusion Products )??? Because if so there's the new plug-in called Headshot which is way more professional then what we see in this video.
Of course you'll need CC3 Pipeline. But good news because of the present situation in the world they are have a 50% sale on all their product line (not the Market places)

Hi! Thank you for making this tutorial!
There are a couple of errors that we'd like to point out.
1) You didn't setup camera and didn't switch on automatic focal length estimation. Usually that makes the result much worse, because by default it's being setup to 50mm lens on a full frame camera (probably we will change it in future).
2) When you change photos in Photoshop digitally zooming the picture - you're changing the focal length while it should be the same across all photos.
3) It's better to start pinning features like corners of the eyes, mouth, etc instead of matching the edges of chin, cheeks, forehead, etc. Because you don't know where exactly the point that you've clicked on the model's cheek is on the real person's face, same for chin, forehead, etc. In the same time, you can easily see where the corner of the eye is on the model and on the real person's face.

thanks for this awesome tool! i wish there was a tutorial for using images with no Exif data, like when trying to do a celebrity with images from google. say i find a set of images taken at the same time but obviously, without camera info. are there recommended generic settings for that? thank you.

I still have a lot to learn when it comes to customizing and sculpting my characters. but I've been really hoping for an add on like this because it'll help me with a face base. I have no problems with bodies and clothing but faces are like the ultimate enemy for me haha I need all the help I can get.

Its still hard if u do it traditionally like sculpting a face with clay or carving a stone but digital is faster :) if u make a mistake just press undo ;)

Unfortunately this doesn't do hair. Photogrammetry still might be a better bet.

No it isn't. Photogrammetry requires a careful camera and lighting setup, and depending on your computer hardware and software settings, can take ages to recreate the face. Then you need to retopo it. This method may not be as accurate, but it's a relatively quick and effective method.
It'll give you more detail but you need many high quality images to produce a good 3d model. It seems like this is more of a quick and dirty way to produce results.

3D is being pushed more toward the creative expression in the work rather than the technical expertise to control the software.
That how it always is, from photoshop 1 to now, now days it doesn't take much for a person to do work in photoshop that it use to plugins killed the technical side of it, same as templates for graphic design has taken being paid for having the skills away from a lot of people

I love that direction as while technical skill should be praised, creative expression becoming accessible will allow us to see so many things we wouldn't have otherwise.
That's the idea of CG in general, isn't it? So people won't be caught up in the daunting tasks, which can be automated.

I love that direction too. You're right, it's a wonderful, wonderful direction. Soon artists will go the way of other industries who are seeing skyrocketing unemployment, diminished wages, and oversaturation of the industry. Yes, let's all just praise the onset of skill reducing technology, whee!!! Pretty soon we'll all just be able to click a button and it'll be like create a character, like in video games. Yay! :)

great overview. how did you zoom in? my hotkey zoom (i think it's option-middle button) doesn't work in pin mode, only when i exit pin mode, so i have to use the zoom icon, which is not ideal. thanks.

Somebody help me! I was stupid enough to think I could model a whole character out of this so spent ages on the hair. I then tried to rub the mouth and it went haywire. The hair was everywhere. Is there a way to fix this

@@ryanhtudor Yep. Make a particle system for the head. Weight paint the top of the head. Use the comb to comb the hair. Would you like a tutorial on THIS

i'm trying to get the morph function to work. how do i get "add modifiers" to work in my blender 2.79? when i hit the "apply" button, it says "modifiers disabled". but it is enabled. it says other things need to be "on" eveything is on. what am i doing wrong?

Great video. I am looking to get into 3d. What do you do about the other side of the head that is showing up black? Do you need a third and fourth picture from those angles to fill them in?
Bit disappointed if I'm being honest. I've been seeing this type of face builder around for the last year that I've been on the 3D scene, and it's not great.. Unless you've got the perfect lighting/camera angles, and someone that's either bald, or at least short hair, or hair tied back; the results are generally sub-par. When it showed 3D meshes with high subD placed over moving video images, I was stoked that this might be something different and extremely innovative, but no, just another run of the mill, limited face builder engine.. Also, it basically just automates the process of using image panes to facebuild manually. And facebuilding manually doesn't have as many restrictions, since we have the basic common sense in us that the hair isn't a solid part of the head.. Also, manual facebuilding has been around for at least the last two decades..
