The fact that you can do this *SO* easily compared to how it was done before is mindblowing. Not 10 years ago, getting the tech to be able to do this even before tweaking would *bankrupt an entire studio.*

Oh trust me brother we did! The metahuman creator customization is limited we of course made our process look shorter for your sake. But we played around with the different features but the sculpting tools on the creator have limits. Which is why the next part of this video is taking the mesh to a 3D software and customizing it manually :)

You know that sounds like a DOPE challenge :D So just thinking about it for a child metahuuman to look real you've gotta get the HEAD SIZE PROPORTION TO THE BODY correctly. @@badxstudio absolutely! Was trying to do the face scan with the polycam lidar function and couldn't get good results. Yours is the first tutorial that stuck to photo capture mode. I'll try this and hopefully get better results 😁
@@jakecolefilms Yeah the Lidar doesn't work well with human faces! The photo mode gives the best results hands down!! We already tried multiple versions and can speak to that :) Glad to know you figured it out :)) And sometimes you might not have access to a person to do photoscanning, for which we recommend you check out "Facebuilder" Addon for blender. You feed it a few images and it builds a head mesh based off that which can be quite accurate! It has a free trial so check that out too :) Also if you aren't on our discord yet, please do join! Its really close but the hair line is a little low on the 3D model, bring it up a little and round it. It would be a lot closer, still really cool what you have right now.
Agreed! but the metahuman creator app doesnt let us customize the head more ... it has limits. which is why in the next part we are going to do that in another 3D software :)

This should be done with True skin, eyes and eyelashes, without any makeup to avoid artifacts and to create an accurate and realistic face. Makeup can be easily applied after.
So near in the future, you can put your own face as a character in any games by scanning your face with phone and put it online for cloud rendering if it's possible.

I made a metahuman sample project and I don't have the option to add a metahuman identity. I went to plugins and added metahuman plugin utilities (there is nothing called metahuman), and the only thing I have is a metasound. No identity no metahuman identiy. I'm using 5.4.1 and this is a new metahuman project clicked from create project on the metahuman project like you did here. What is missing here?
Should be smarter if she could spin around in the chair instead, so the cameraman who scans would be able to stand in the window for the best light, but it still looks really good

I mean we talked about this on discord but we think its very much possible to do that! Firstly we are sorry to hear about his passing ... But yeah you can use the Facebuilder addon for blender if you would like to give that a try. By just feeding a few photos you can recreate a head mesh which you can then use to create a metahuman! Then you can even feed info about your father to ChatGPT or an AI that can be trained to speak and act like him. Connect that AI to the MetaHumans and just like that you've got an avatar of your loved ones who have passed away. It could definitely be a beautiful way to get to experience being with them once again. Now we are not going to say this is the right or wrong thing to do as I'm sure many will have their opinions about bringing people back to this world using AI but just to answer your question, yes we think it is going to be very much possible!
They used manual mode from the looks of it, which you take a bunch of photos manually. I am trying to use Qlone which I think is also using photos even in auto, however I don't know how to use Blender so I'm struggling with the cleanup step which these guys basically skip through with no real detail.

Thanks so much for this tutorial! I also saw the pwnisher use PureRef to align face geometry on top of the Metahuman creator. It might speed up the facial structure workflow a bit.

Nice job. But still lacks the similarity. If you don't use your custom morph and manually sculpt mesh you can never get the likeness of the actual person. You can cheer up for your effort but it falls short.

You have to sculpt the exported base shape. There is no other way to achieve that.

you might be able with certain softwares by feeding it pictures of your dad from different angles
