    Happy that my bora wto don‘t loose a lot of time against the ultras! Not sure if the upgrade would be worth it. I can say that the wto 45 already run super smooth and with the tubeless setup even nicer. Also they handle crosswinds really well - I was in aldcudia and there was a lot of wind which scared me, but no problem for these wheels.

      Did you get the Ultras? I’m thinking about the WTO 45 (non-Ultra) with the gp5000 (currently on 4000)... could you please tell me more or less how big the tire inflates at? I’m not sure my older BMC SLR01 frame (2013) will have the clearance for it. I’m currently on 25c but the outer width of my Mavic Ksyrium Elite S is a mere 20mm (about time for an upgrade!). Thanks!

    Perfectly mature review. I personally don't understand the obsession with comfort on a road racing frame. I believe it is a fad that will wain along with road disc, high pressure road tubeless, and hookless. I ride the 2nd iteration of Aeolus D3's that were 100 percent hand laid in the US with likewise 19mm internal and 26.8 external. Absolutely perfect for a 24mm front and 26mm rear Sworks tire. Bought new in 2015 and still my favorite set. Thanks for the content!

    Super review. I plan to shod my Bora WTOs with Vittoria 28 TL but now watching your video, I am not so sure anymore. Maybe the P-Zero 26 will be better but sad that it is not available in tan wall. As well, I don't think you mentioned but the hubs are cup & cone so that means serving will take a bit more time and care as compared to swapping out bearings. +1 for quieter hubs but sometimes a loud free hub is a nice way to warn the person ahead. :-)

    Great review David, I particularly like the point on internal width and the trend for wider but I think the 25/26mm suits the Specialissima's character being in Bianchi's race category. These wheels look fantastic when combined with the Specialissima, I've a 2020 rim brake version and I'd love to add wheels like that to my bike. Do they come in a rim brake format?

    Btw, i don’t really get the idea why a race bike/wheels have to be as wide as the trends are currently (25-28 is the sweet spot i think). Day to day commute maybe yes, but u don’t simply put on these wheels to commute though. Pair of aluminium wheels would do great in my view.

  • @jou3708

    My experience is wider tubeless tires over 28mm are too heavy, so wheels has to be really light to experience wide tire "sensation". Otherwise I better stay with 19-21mm inner width cost effective reasonably light wheels paired with tubeless light tires. Modern quality tubeless 28mm are supple and extremely pleasing to ride.

    I have the WTO 45 Ultra rim brake version. And yes, they are great wheels, but I really wish they were 21 mm internal width. I've had many Campy wheels since getting a pair of Eurus back in the early 2000's. All have been great and "Bullet" proof (😁), but I must admit Campy development to bring new tech to market is slow. They just take so long to move from initial intro by competitors of new tech to getting it into their products, but at least when their products come out, they are really nice. And with wheels, it seemed like a forever wait to just to get a new wheelset wider than 15/17mm. My HED wheels with 21 internal rider super nice with 25 or 28mm tires.

    • @neil7769
      @neil7769 3 роки тому +1

      It's probably because the "new tech" is often a stupid idea to begin with and Campagnolo are waiting to see if they need to be dragged along with the mainstream market idiocy... It's just a pity that these trends are impossible to resist in the end because of the masisve money behind them from the big U.S. brands. 19mm internal is ideal really, wider than that is suboptimal for tyres below 28mm width, and 23mm and 25mm are faster on anything but very rough roads unless you are really heavy..

    Sorry David, tubeless being faster than tubular is just a flat out lie. The TRUTH is they are all the same at normal riding speeds. In fact, a 23mm on the front is faster as far as aero goes. As to rolling resistance, it has little influence over 12-15km/ph, as the gain is insignificant compared to the aero wattage losses. I don't know where they get this data from. It is just complete rubbish! Not trolling and i realise this is the marketing data, just stating the REAL facts. Dont get me wrong, campy fan and run bora ultra two campy carbon rims. So like their products. But those gains are just massively over stated.

      @@NeoPayneHK I think that the lower cost is the main driving force behind hookless rims. Other than some slight potential weight savings it has no advantage to the user and quite a few disadvantages.

    Dated wheels . Stupid G3, someone to explain us G3, is there any torisonal strech in hubs?

    • @neil7769
      @neil7769 3 роки тому +1

      G3 is tried and tested for many years and is known to build very stiff, bomb-proof wheels. What's your problem with it? The theory: you have twice as many spokes on the drive side due to the shallower dishing required by the cassette on that side. This means that the normal difference in spoke tension between drive side and non-drive side due to bracing angle can be less than it would be with the same number of spokes on each side. Practice: it works extremely well.

      I've been riding campagnolo Eurus (aluminium wheels) since 2008 with the 3G spoke pattern, still perfect though rims very worn now! Very strong wheels so no cannot fault the 3G spoke pattern.

    So the new wheelset comes with 5 more spokes on the front wheel plus those horrible discs, and pretends to be more aero than the previous version that came with just 18 spokes, hmm good look with the advertising, It is not going to be faster just because they are called and tested in wind tunnels that don't simulate the turbulences and real drag aspects of a natural environment.

      A guess you are joking - right? Or you think they should give every reviewer a £3k set of wheels for a glowing review? I mean would you not think that it would provide a big incentive to give a glowing review regardless of it is deserved or not - in which case the review becomes useless.
