yeah I always wondered if Andrew Garfield was dealing with any hair loss throughout the years but my opinion is that he just has a naturally recessed hairline thats been pretty stable over the years. I do think that many of these pictures that lighting plays a big role. I've had some people tell me I was receding on my right temple but my hairline has been like this for the last 10 years and no signs of hair loss yet, just unfortunate cowlicks and lighting that makes my scalp more visible. also in his buzzcut he does seem to have a head shape that protrudes more around the frontal area, making his scalp more visible. I think medication is possible to keep his hair stable but it also looks he just has a hairline the makes the recessions more visible depending on the style and hasn't had any significant hair loss
My right side of the temple is receding and I have thinner here on that side as well
maybe he got a transplant since he has a receding hairline before, and his dad and bro are bald
He joked during in interview that he takes propecia. So im assuming he takes propecia
pretty much sure that he had said that his father is dealing with hair loss as well and so he'd probably get one too, but I could be mistaken.
No. Stop talking as if you are better at dictating a hairline than a doctor that deals with hairlines.
I mean it could just be health too. I remember my hair was getting a bit thinner in the front (not a crazy amount) but similar to Andrew. And it was completely because of not eating proper foods and immediately when I switched to a normal diet my hair grew back thicker then ever.
What kind of diet did you switch to?
@@brotendo it depends how far gone you are, but check out Ray Peat and Danny Roddy
What counts as a normal diet?
Don't talk crap. Have you not seen some homeless guys hair? Thick as hell, clearly diet is not a big factor.
@@nathandrake9129 I mean genetics is the number 1 factor dog. I’m just talking from personal experience
Another good reason why Andrew hates Googling himself.
I don’t care if he has or hasn’t…he’s one of the greatest actors of his generation …and he’s a charming guy. He’s not hard to look at either.
Greatest? C'mon lol
@@SmashBrosBrawl Um yeah…how many other guys in their 30s right now are winning SAG awards, being nominated for Oscars…putting out movies like Silence, Tick Tick Boom, Hacksaw Ridge, The Social Network, The Eyes of Tammy Faye etc. The guy throws himself into his roles. I stand by what I said. Lol
@@angiehh516 Oscars are popularity contests, they don't mean anything. He shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as genuine generational greats like Christian Bale.
@@SmashBrosBrawl I Absolutely think he deserves to be mentioned in the same sentence as Christian …who I think is a great actor. Good thing about Andrew…he’s also not an asshole while doing it.
He's looking good! Kudos to his stylist 👏
hi doc, im a big fan of your videos i was wondering if you could make a video explaining mature hairlines vs balding. I've had an M shaped hairline for years but no actual hair loss besides that. From my google searches I can't even determine whether or not mature hairlines are even a real thing, and if having a bad hairline automatically means i am in the beginning stages of MPB. A video on this would help a lot
Was subscribed before 10k & even now whenever I see your thumbnail my hand automatically clicks on it . Love your videos ❤️
I think he looks great no matter what 🧡
Hey Doc, im wondering if you do some sort of skincare you can share with us? Your skin is flawless 👌
Hey there! any thoughts on laser helmets like iRestore and Theradome? I don't really get how it works/ why it works, but it's also FDA approved and seems to have no side effects?
Also, love your videos! they've been extremely helpful!
I personally think Andrews hairline has gone back slightly. However, I think for Andrew to achieve these hairstyles like in Tick Tick Boom, requires him to get his hair thinned so the stylist can achieve the style of the character that he is playing… if that makes any sense.
Fairly sure I saw somewhere that he mostly wore wigs for that movie.
It's just different styles and lighting. He's got perfect hair.
2:53 to 3:24 for comparison, his temples came back from the dead. you can't definitively say he had a hair transplant but there seems to be a massive improvement here, particularly in his temples and frontal hairline area
Maybe a bad shed
I think some kinda medication is happening here,
He drank his Aloe Vera.
You can fix that without a transplant, especially with what he is working with :)
@@Randarrradara I totally get that, but hair transplants are extremely safe/effective and he can definitely afford one. Seems like the more feasible option to me, but again we dont know for sure.
Hi Dr. Gary, been watching all your vids..i have a question, do u have a pico laser machine? does that benefits to tighthen facial skin?
Andrew Garfield in a brand new wired video about answering the most searched questions about him answered a "How to get Andrew Garfield hair?" question with propecia, although jokingly...but maybe not? . Safe to say we got him, boys!
One day i will come visit you in New york...! Love your videos !
Hey Doctor, could you make a video about hair growth after a hair transplant? Like not the transplanted hairs but original hairs that were already start to regrow because of the transplant triggers the existing hairs to start growing again.
I always love the thumbnails of these videos 😂👌🏽
Started 1 mg fin 3 x per week and within 2 months my hair went from Norwood 2/3 to Norwood 1 and the density in the front came back to normal imo. I plan on taking this forever ..lol. I basically went from Andrew’s worst image in the video shown to his buzzed image shown so maybe it’s Norwood 2 but it’s a huge improvement. I’m floored how quick this helped me, thanks to u doc. No side effects other than my peen is slightly smaller when flaccid lol.
I had heard fin and dutastride have a side effect that is sexualy harms meaning ed is one of the side effects can you please tel me if you're having any of those sideeffects? Would help a lot, I want to have fin but just worried bout the sideeffects
@@adityahabbu7463 hey dude, it’s like a 2% chance of having those side effects. Also the chances of side effects when you take 0.5 per day or 1mg every other day makes that 2% go down drastically from my understanding. The permanent side effects even after stopping the meds are 1 in a million, they are extremely extremely rare. When you read horror stories online you’ll see a lot of them but that’s because only those posting issues post. I noticed no ED whatsoever on that end!
@@alex1432 thanx for the reply brother, appreciate it, gonna start this medication soon,, cheers,
I am 24 and started minoxidil and finasteride an year ago. And started getting prp sessions 6 months ago. I still have thin hair falling out everytime I shampoo or apply minoxidil. How long does it take to get full results where hair stop falling so I can make a decesion to get a transplant or hair system.
Hey Gary
At what day can I expect the scabs to go from my scalp after a hair transplant?
You should do a video on the side effects of minoxidil. I’d like to hear if you’ve had a patient experience them.
We have a minoxidil video already that covers side effects.
Do Jeremy Piven next. I've always been fascinated by his hair transformation.
Just discovered your channel as well as a newfound crush. Your vocal affect is so attractive
either way, i LOVE andrew garfield - thanks for the vid!
Hi doc!
Do you think that the aip diet work for alopecia?
you should see him on the actors roundtable uploaded two days ago. it looks like he's fully recovered his hairline and density is insanely good - even better than all his recent releases
So the hairstyle and colour are completely different but compare that round table to the one he did in 2016
@@missbeaussie these two are excellent examples for comparison - both are live-action footage with definitive dates and substantial time between them; he holds his head at different angles in good lighting; and his hair looks significantly improved in the more recent video. it looks great
Got to stop you on your first assessment. He was certainly not a Norwood 2 in the first picture. The 'recession' has to be taken in to account with the actual hair line, which is not only insanely low, but also the temples are filled in to the eyebrows. This is a close to fully juvenile hair line, asymmetry being present even in kids. And the very slight thinning look on top has to do with the bright lighting. Even perfect juvenile hair, when shaved, shows through to the scalp in bright light at certain angles. Same for your next assessments of 'temple recession' the recession being against a hair line far lower than 99 percent of what most male adults have. Zero evidence of balding
Hi doc!! Just wanted to say that you look very beautiful and unique! Really you look soooo good! Plus your amazing green eyes and your flawless skin! 😍
Can you give us feedback on upper eyelid or sub brow filler
He used to have amazing hair but it started to thin after he grew it out for a couple of roles. However, I don't think he's had hair transplant even though he could benefit from one.
Can you do Patrick John Flueger from the Chicago P.D series next? His hair/hairstyle has been changing a lot through the years and I've always wondered if he got a transplant.
hey Doc so what you are saying even if you inherit the gene for baldness, through medical therapy you still can keep the hair longer than expected?
it seems medical therapy can essentially stop hair loss at the point you have now and maybe maybe regrow some of it back. But you better research it or even better ask a doctor yourself if you want confirmation.
@@ERACLAB on point.
I was so jealous of my friend and his family...they had a very good hair line which is too thick sometimes....my friend dad was 65 years old but he has no pattern baldness and his hairline was just like when he was young...man i wish i had a good hairline and overall strong hair as those...😣
Make a video on Harry Styles, he's very young and quite famous for his hair and it seems the has lost a lot hair around his temple.
Not really. His hairline was always high and it still the same.
You could talk about how his brother is totally bald, just like his dad, but he has a freaking mane himself. I mean, a video on how alopecia is afected by genetics.
I wish that had been the case for me haha My dad is totallybald (well he has A LOT of hair on the sides, of course, but he shaves it) my brother almost has no hair left on the top of his head and me, well, everyday I'm loosing both hair and hope of not balding haha
@Relitti yeah you're right! I will check them out
@@user-wl7zi6pc3j Do you know what your mother's side is in terms of hair density? Might want to look into her history too.
yeah it really boils down to your total genetics. That old saying that you follow your mom's family is not always true - I'm creeping towards 40 and while the entire top of my head hair is definitely thin, no bald spots. My mom's family males all were Captain Picard bald by age 21, and my hair is doing the same thing my dad and his dad's did. Never went bald but they both had a lot of thinning on top.
I am kind of shocked to see -- now I've been looking at more recent photographs of myself, now at age 47 almost 48, as compared to even when I was 42 and noting that my skin is a bit thinner and has less of that super lush quality to it that it always had in my youth. Well, at age 47, my forehead wrinkles/lines are the same as his forehead wrinkles in 2018, when he was 35. And my eyes have no wrinkle or droop to them. Well, in the right light, there is a faint hint of fine wrinkles starting to show like crows feet, and ten years ago everything was completely smooth and flawless. And there is also one area, I have high prominent cheek bones so where the sun shines the most, there's a little bit of sun damage, it looks like. Though maybe it's more I've been a victim of a pretty serious crime and have PTSD and stress that has an effect on my skin, sometimes makes it react like that.
I just want to ask that if I got side effects from fin when I was 20 which I was getting 1.25 mg fin then I added dutasteride once a week and got side effects after 6 months, do you think I can restart to take it with lower dose? I’m 22 now btw
What were the sideeffects??

Your a Iconic and have the most lovely voice sending love from new Zealand my friend
I just turned 30 back in June.... And I can honestly say for what ever reason this is the best my skin and hair has EVER been not even in my 20s was my hair so full and thick and skin so clear.. I'm not sure if there is a common scientific reason behind it or maybe its just my genetics personally.. 🤔 I was also shocked to discover the human brain doesn't fully develop until 25 and for some of us I think it takes much longer 😆 😬.
But anyone else out there in their late 20s or early 30s feel like this is the best your skin or hair has been or even older than that I'm curios of other peoples experiences...
I'm not your age, a few years younger, but I've also noticed some positive changes in recent months. My hair feels thicker than it ever has and my skin is less oily than it used to be. I think it mostly has to do with diet and lifestyle.
Hi doc, are you planning on making a video on getting procedures done abroad? I think it could be very interesting. Like people traveling to Turkey from all over the world for rhinoplasty for example.
He’s made one on hair transplants
I did 3k grafts in China and 3k grafts in Thailand

Gary, u should make a video about latisse
I don’t think he started losing any hair till around 2015/16(in his 30s) the photos of him 2009, that’s not even close to a Norwood 2, hell, back then he looks like he was Norwood 0!
Hello will there any cure for baldness or hair regrowth? I really dont understand we are living 2021 and still there is no cure, many people think its because of medicine companies, if there is no cure, you should buy products again and again. Also if a guy change their sex, hair comes back. So we can see there is a solution. Just scientists should do it for hair not full body.
Dr. Gary can you do a video on Reginald VelJohnson from Die Hard and Family Matters
I’m confused as to how thick his hair is despite his mild recession.

Welcome abroad!
The amount of people defending Andrew is crazy, did y’all not realize he’s 38 and most men do tend to start balding around the 30s. Regardless it’s natural and not a bad thing, happens to the best of us
they're "defending" him because they think he's being attacked. but nobody's attacking him. he's one of the most well-liked guys right now. it's just acknowledging a reality. it's surprising (but it shouldn't be) that a lot of people are still very naïve about celebrities and put them on a pedestal. they're not allowed to have flaws. they also have conflicting beliefs such as thinking it's positive for people to have good looks and yet thinking it's very negative for people to care about their looks
this is what i was gonna say too hehe
those captions are kind of crazy. love your content tho. but captions are flashing too much, its too much
If we're analysing that crazy, thick-arse mop of hair on Andrew Garfield's head then there's no hope for any of us!!! Sometimes photos make hair look thinner than it is. Hair parts in gnarly ways - if it's wet, hasn't been washed in a few days etc etc..it all contributes to the illusion of thinning.
That's what I WAS THINKING!!!!!
Right? Like this guy has the thickest head of hair I have ever seen and even he is going bald? No one can escape male pattern baldness.
Hi, Dr. Gary.
You should do one on Oscar De La Hoya doc. I think Oscar definitely had one in my opinion.
steven cardenas the red ranger definitely got one!the difference is amazing.
It's insane people think Andrew has a recessed hairline. His hairline is better than 60% of female hairlines, let alone males. 90% of WOMEN don't have a perfect norwood 0. 2017 Andrew Garfield has better hair than 90% of people you'll ever meet in person.
He 'jokes' about using Propecia in his Wired Auto-Complete interview so I think it would be safe to assume medication.
bold guy talking about hair , rare LOL
Props to him not getting surgery. He shouldn't be ashamed of aging.
Actually there's a video en which he's answering some googled questions and he says "Propecia" but then says it's a joke. Maybe it's not a joke after all.
Whoa 💜
You should look into Steve Carrels hairline from the first season of the Office and currently
Steve definitely had hair treatment of some kind.
Noticed that recently since I’ve watched the office again his hair first season looked so thin could see his scalp but think season 2 he seems to have more hair in the front
I think you're a very reputable guy, and your analyses are always spot on, but I'm kind of baffled as to why this is even a conversation. Andrew has always had a fantastic head of hair. I would never think he's had any work done, let alone a hair transplant. He's just blessed with good genetics (from his mother evidently) and obviously maintains his barnet well.
this guy's gonna act like he didn't just see the photos documenting andrew's progressive hair loss over the years lmao

0:51 come on doc this is not NW2, there is no sign of MPB at all on that hairline. By calling it NW2 you're making a lot of guys with actual NW2 very, very self-consicous right now.
