- SCP 1808 is a Safe Class anomaly also known as Spongebob Watches.
SCP-1808 is the collective designation of six yellow plastic wristwatches decorated with green polka dots and images of SpongeBob SquarePants.
SCP-1808's main anomalous properties manifest when it is worn by a human being or any other creature possessing limbs and phalanx bones. Once affixed to a subject, SCP1808 can only be removed by the individual who originally fastened it. Every quarter hour, SCP-1808 will play a sound bite of the Spongebob character's distinctive laugh, and the distal, intermediate, and proximal phalanges (bones of the fingers and toes) of the limb upon which SCP-1808 is worn will grow in length by approximately 6cm. The growth will continue every quarter hour until either SCP-1808 is removed from the subject or SCP-1808's adjustment knob is retracted

The most concerning aspect of the anomaly is that it can be used as a physical torture device that DOESNT leave any physical marks or proof of torture. Meaning governments, corps, etc, could use them without consequences.

Imagine a torture victim telling the authorities about how some criminals tortured him by putting wrist watches on him that made his limbs and bones grow out into hideous deformity but the traumatized frantic victim has no physical damage. The torture victim might end up locked in a looney bin somewhere while the people who tortured him might not even get arrested due to their victim being deemed hopelessly insane and his word having no credibility.
I can just see KBG, CIA, FBI, MI6, etc... all going full drooling mode looking at 1808 if it existed irl.

What the hell? Those watches could sell for literal millions to the right people. I know it's an auction so the prices will likely escalate, but still, 15k each is a bloody bargain for something like that.
Also, after the gorefield SCP, i was expecting this SCP to be another ungodly abomination, but i guess the SCP isn't the Imsorryjon subreddit.
I dunno, most auctions start at a pretty low price. I buy and resell a bunch of stuff from eBay, and stuff will often start at $0.99 to generate interest, and end up selling for $50-75.

Keter: put it in a box, leave it alone, it will escape.

The thing I find disturbing about SCPs like this, is wondering their origin. Since they're modelled after a cartoon, were they orginally made by someone(or something) that wanted to hurt children?
You gotta remember the anomalies are for the most part from a different dimension, space or magical in nature. There's a ton of creatures that are neutral and will kill any poor fucker they get their hands on. I think some weirdo just saw the cartoon and decided to make a torture device out of it.

The effects of the original watch was seen in the new prototype, but severely diminished. Bones would only grow when the knob was turned, there was no laughing, and they couldn’t break past the skin. The pain, however, remained.”
“With testing on D-Class, they discovered that placing it on specific organisms would instead cause the bones to become more dense, therefore stronger and more durable. The requirements for this new discovery are not completely uncovered, but one of them is having never watched the SpongeBob SquarePants cartoon. The more the knob was turned, the denser the bones. Eventually, they became harder than steel but the sheer weight prevented the D-Class subject to move, and gravity crushed his organs.”

the thumbnails to these videos have a bit of a goosebumps quality to them. They're usually related, but it's anyone's guess how accurately if at all and they're all tremendous fun either way!
They might have had a second thought with how that last thumbnail went. I'm going over this channel again for re-watching, and i noticed they toned down this video's thumbnail.

Truly the animation of the cartoon characters in like the first 30 something seconds is awesome and so close looking.
Could be a torture device but also what if you use it to regrow limbs? And If it goes to far you can retract it and maybe have a way to regrow limbs, teeth, or any bone

Thinking about it a bit more, bones growing when under the SCP’s effect makes some sense since SpongeBob can regrow his limbs
i really wonder where the watches came from before MC&D found them… it’s probably a pretty funny story considering the appearance of the scp.
I'll be honest, I don't really see why the creator of this SCP had to bring in Spongebob. A watch making bones grow that can be adjusted by the knobs is a perfectly serviceable SCP by itself. The addition of Spongebob just seems like it's put there to grab attention rather than serve any real storytelling function.

If it can disassemble humans into their components and reassemble, taking into account clothes and jewelry such as watches putting those in a seperate place. Then surely the watches would also be transplanted.
But maybe doing so would scar the human in some way.. Like they never stop hearing the laugh, despite all efforts. But the physical aspect is gone.
