= SEALING / VARNISHING =
To seal an alcohol ink piece I use a museum quality spray by Krylon: Kamar Varnish. Unlike most spray varnishes and acrylic sprays, it will not react in any way with the alcohol inks ... so, even the most tiny details will remain crisp and unchanged when sprayed.
🔹Here is a link: amzn.to/2jGh3KO
AFTER using Kamar, you may choose to add a layer of UV protection to help with possible fading down the line : amzn.to/2JisymO
If done on something paper thin like photo paper, Duralar, or Yupo, or his new Craft Plastic, the piece can be framed under glass or acrylic without being sprayed... especially if the painting will not be exposed to direct sunlight. Always avoid placing any alcohol ink work in an area where it will get direct sunlight. Though Kielty Inks are less vulnerable, many inks will fade in the sun... eventually.
Thank you in advance for watching the videos, sharing them, commenting and leaving a thumbs up. Your kindness helps my channel continue and it is all greatly appreciated! May the alcohol inks, resin, and paints be kind, and may the pours be with you. 😊💕 - Навчання та стиль
Thank you again, Myriam! Your videos are so informative and they’re so much fun to watch. Clear instructions and a delight to watch...what’s not to love??! And a huge thank you to all who mentioned other surfaces they’ve worked with and where to find them. Isn’t the art community a wonderful, generous place to be? Grateful to you, Myriam and all who are here. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
Thank you for sharing your experience! I love listening to you and your giggle is so sweet :) makes me smile every time ♥
You are the only artist I watch on you tube who doesn’t totally bug me! Love your tutorials!!
I love that you share all your great finds, Thank you so much for the great comparison I'm excited
Hugs and Smiles
It is a joy and a privilege Lori! Thank YOU!! 😊😘💕 Big hugs to you!
WOW! Thanks for sharing this! Can't wait to see how the painting looks - no staining is a super plus!
What a great discovery,it looks brilliant. Thanks for sharing x.
This was so excellent. I learned so much! This is one of the best edited videos I’ve seen because you got right to the point and said a lot in little time. New fan!
Miriam, you always make me smile!!! Thank you!!!
Exceptional and most valuable demonstration! Great find and video, thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing this! I haven’t started my ink art journey and this is so helpful! Im so happy you shared this! Thank you!
Hi Myriam thank you for the information, I also wanted to add if you live in a large city and have access to an acrylics and plastics store, like someone who makes signs or awards. They usually are willing to sell great big sheets of white plastic. I bought a piece 8‘ x 4‘ for $18. It works great on alcohol inks but needs to be cleaned first with alcohol.
Thank you! Perfect timing as I have only one larger sheet of yupo left. I went ahead and placed my order. Can't wait to give it a try.
Holy superior product development Batman!😃 That's amazing I just got some yupo from Michaels after the "demo" projects today along with a collection of inks and I'm super excited to see if I can get this stuff to work with!
I found plastic paper as I call it a little bit ago and I love it! Been eating so much money on paper. I love your art and hope to learn so much more from you. Thank you. I think you the sweetest person. ❤
I finally was able to afford to order this product. Amazing how it works. Now I just need to practice and watch more of your videos. Thanks for the tips you share. 👍🏻❤️
Wow, I'm impressed! Thanks for doing these tests. I've been very sparing with the yupo.
Wow, this was really interesting! Must try it! Tfs, Myriam, awesome 😀
A super video, Myriam. So helpful!
Wow! This is a game changer, eh!? 💗🎨 Great share. Thank you so much for your wonderful vids!
Much love 🙏💗🎨
Great comparison, I am looking forward to the beautiful art tomorrow.
Myriam thank you so much for your informative and enjoyable videos. You're the best!
Thank you so much for this info! I can't wait to get my hands on this magic paper..lol Wish I had it right now, as I have a show coming up and doing all kinds of demos for alcohol ink.
I have no idea how quickly they ship, but I hope you’ll get lots of fun use out of It when you do get it! Thank you for your kind words Mariola! 😊😘💕
I love love love learning from you! You are truly Gifted! Thank u!
Thanks, looking forward to the test drive painting.
Hello Myriam- another WoW! video from you! Thank you SO much!!! I wish I watched this before I topped up my Yupo supply....and yes, you are definitely my all time favorite tutor!!!
I am new to alcohol inks & was very pleased to find your channel. I have a science background so I appreciate your scientific approach to comparing the products! I am subscribing because obviously I will learn a lot from following you. Thanks. 😊
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I have thrown out more Yupo paper because of the staining. I've purchased the graphix Craft Plastic and can't wait to use it. I love your video's. I've learned so much.
Thanks again Myram. This was really helpful.
I love your reviews and your CLIFFHANGERS!!!!! Loving this product!!!💖👏💖👏💖👏💖
Thanks for info and for your beautiful soft straight talk.
Great find! Thanks Myriam!
Wow! That is so crazy!!! Making me want to try some alcohol inks again! 😁
Heeeeey Myriam. Great to see you again. Still happy girl i see.
Thanks for this! I've tried various surfaces, can't wait to try this one. 😊 💖
Stunning! Amazing outcome. Can't wait to get some of this paper!
Thank you ever so much Lynda! 😊😘💕
I'm getting hooked on your programs. I've just watched your experiment, Myriam, and decided to buy the Dura-La. It will work out at a quarter of the cost of Yupo, and as I am new to this technique, there will be far less waste. I've found a firm in London (I'm in the UK) called Jackson's Art and have bought the 11x14 x 12 sheets. Thank you again, your programs are so informative.
Thank you Myriam! Looking forward to tomorrow’s video.
Can't wait for tomorrow. Have been experimenting with different materials also. This sounds promising. Whenever I am in trouble with a piece, I reach for that very pink! E
Thank you for sharing. I love your vidéos and art, but most of all the way you talk. I speak french so I am not very good in english but with you I understand everything. Thank you very much. Merci😍
Thank you so much for this video!
I have already placed my order❤️❤️❤️
Shared this with a good friend. She'll be overjoyed. So glad you shared.
Thank you for sharing it Dianne! It was a joy for me to pass this info along to everyone! 😊💕
Thank you so much for sharing this. I've already gone to Amazon to order mine.
Wonderful video! Thanks so much for the information!
WOW, what a great video :-) I've only used small pieces of yupo because it IS too expensive! Happy days! Thanks, Myriam!
I use the back of Christmas wrapping paper to practice with alcohol ink. It's great fun and not expensive.
Fantastic .. thank you .. hate those little circle stains on yupo .. thought it was me as a beginner nit moving quickly enough but it is yupo paper .. going to get craft paper now
thank you so much for sharing this information. Off to shop
Ha! I bought Duralar sheets from watching your older videos. :) I thought the layering effect was neat. I also ended up with a roll the clear, heat resistant Grafix for other projects like making window cards. I like that I can heat emboss a design on the card windows.
Oh my! This is pretty awesome! Now I'm curious about those larger sizes. :)
It's so worthwhile to do research so I don't waste money on products that don't work. Thanks for the video. I put this on my wish list at Amazon.
Love your informative videos! Thanx Myriam!
Myriam,
Thank you SO SO SO much for this video! I've been using Yupo (and unfortunately, I stocked up on it when there was a sale too), but I've had the staining issue, and I kept thinking it was something I was doing wrong! I also have trouble heat-embossing on Yupo because it warps really fast (I've seen other crafters do it without any problems, so it's probably me). But the new product you mentioned fixes both issues for me! I'm so happy to have come across your video! :)
It looks like the website you linked for the Grafix is out of stock so I've requested to be notified when it's back, but I can't wait to try it! :) I guess I'll have to do a giveaway for all the Yupo paper I stocked up on. LOL
Quick question for you - I've been noticing that after my alcohol ink backgrounds are dry and I touch them, it feels powdery and pigment starts coming off of it and applying to my fingers. I've been coating the backgrounds with a glossy spray topcoat thing, but I feel like I shouldn't have to. Do you know what I might be doing wrong?
Again, thank you SOOOO much for this video, and I apologize for the long comment. :)
I Mariam - I have been using this paper for awhile too after your suggestion. I love it. Wish it came in larger sizes.
Me too Susan! Grafix manufactures it in larger sizes but to date no retailer carries the larger pieces yet ☹️. I’ll keep checking.
Wow! Thank you so much for this!
Excellent demonstration! Thank you.
This is a great find. Hope more stores start to carry it. I checked out Joggles and they charge $11 + for shipping a $15 item.
I love Joggles but the shipping kills me. I feel your pain.
Wow ! That is amazing....I am looking forward to what you do tomorrow....I am really struggling with yupo, very hard to move the inks around diluted like you do and get that ethereal look ....it just won’t seem to dry ...I have mainly used an airbrush but tried the hair dryer the other day and still had disasters...I don’t know if I am putting too much on at once or not enough...there always seems to be puddles of ink on the yupo ....wasting lots of paper. Even rubbing it off and using it again, just in practicing otherwise I would have been through the whole pack with all disasters ....I am almost giving up, but stubborn me after buying all these supplies...I don’t want to waste them ......it’s getting very frustrating! 😖😖😫
❤️ Always love your tutorials!
Mine's on order. Just what we've been looking for. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure! I wish you endless fun with it! 😊💕
Just bought some, can't wait to give this a try.
I am ordering the Graphic craft plastic this week.
Very good demo! Tfs🙋👍very good to know💕
What a great video!!! Thank you so much Myriam you are a wonderful teacher!!! Best regards from Costa Rica, Central America!
Thank you for this Myriam, is it just the lighting or would you say the new paper is not quite as white as Yupo?
Wow! Thank you, Myriam!
Another cliff hanger 😱 Can’t wait to see how the grafix performs👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Fantastic news! Can’t wait!
I can't wait to see your tutorial tomorrow.
Wow that looks great. Can't wait to see next video.💕💕❤️❤️😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
THANK YOU for sharing this experiment. I thought I was doing something wrong when I noticed the initial drop of ink on the yupo paper. I was so disappointed for that paper is not inexpensive!
Thanks for sharing and reviewing this. I want to start using my alcohol inks. They are pretty to sit around but I really need to 'use' them. LOL
I use the Grafix in 12”x12” size and at this size there is a bit of warping. Nothing like the Yupo though and when I hit it with some cool air the warping goes back down. I have used this since I started a couple of months ago and from what I saw in your comparison I most likely will never buy Yupo even for pieces I might frame for myself or give as a gift. Thanks for the great tips! I’ve learned so much from you!
Thank you so much for this comparison ! 💙💙💙
Thank you so much for this. I will be getting some of this.
Thanks Myriam! Great information and comparison....
Woohoo! Do appreciate your comparison, Grafix it is!
I really want to try alcohol ink art, this was really helpful. Thank you!! 🌹👏🏻❤️
I think you’d be awesome at alcohol ink Michelle! I would love to watch that on your channel!!! 😊😘💕
Hi, MyrIam
I am having trouble finding the Kielty Layering Solution online and their site states Joann's, Michaels, & HL, carries the pads of the Grafix Opaque White Craft Plastic Sheets, not so! One more question, I have the Ranger heat gun but am thinking the Darice curling hair dryer would have better air flow, am I correct in my assumption? Thank you for any suggestions you might send my way! I am so pleased I discovered your UA-cam site, informative, very funny, and beautiful artwork for the eyes! Thanks for everything you do.
Very informative Myriam. I love your videos! Regarding the
Grafix Opaque White Craft Plastic
I cannot find this anywhere . Joggles is the only one that sells it but you have done an amazing job showing the merits of the Grafix product sooooo... it is all sold out ... Any suggestions on where it can be purchased ?
Super informative video. Thank you so much. What are your thoughts of this plastic product compared to nara paper?
Wow!!! Thank you for sharing this!!! ☮️💕🎨
wow this Grafix is amazing, but, once you have created a piece you want to keep would you have to seal it with something? if you do what would you seal it with?
I love your laugh. You crack me up on every video!!
Wonderful review. I have both the Yupo and the Grafix and had not realized the difference between them.
Thank you for your kind words Diana. I don’t know that you could have the new white Grafix “paper”. It was only released online last Thursday. Double check ok. 😊😘💕
Sorry, I meant I have the wet media film, the 005 clear film and the .005 matte film. They are all used differently. I thin k I was talking about the matte film which is slightly opaque@@MyriamsNature
As soon as I saw the title.....I KNEW you were gonna say Duralar. lol I have a pad of it and love it.
Thank you! This is very helpful.
Tex so much for your very helpful videos:)
I have been looking all over for bigger paper than 12x12 but can't find it ....Have any ideas?
Checked Amazon, very reasonably priced so will definitely be trying these out. Thank you, Myriam. ❤💋❤💋
Dollar store or second hand store - picture or poster frames with the glass or acrylic protector included.
If it stains, whip out a new one and use the old one as a window decoration.
Very true .... the Dollar store is a crafter’s paradise 😄! I think you’ll love this “paper”. Do check this link for comparison... it’s usually better than Amazon for many things and once you spend $50, shipping is half off.

I miss you!
I loved your videos, gorgeous nails, voice, laugh, attention to details, teaching skills, taste in color palettes, and of course your amazing artistic skills.
Sorcery! I .. must .. have .. that .. MAGIC PAPER! I just hope I can deal with it if Im not able to score that from Finland yet. Forget laundry, Ive got some urgent research to do. Thanks Myriam!
awesome find! I was just thinking that if you didn't have the craft plastic on hand or didn't want to spend money until you run out of the yupo paper, if spreading the kielty layering solution ( can't think of the exact name right now) on yupo before adding inks would allow you to avoid the staining? I mean the solution is absolutely magical at keeping your inks from moving once you get them where you want them. could it also be used to capture some of the qualities of the craft plastic such as being able to get back down to white?
Wow, thank you...did not know about this.
Thank you Myriam :) big hugs
Thanks for posting! Please let us know if you find any other online sellers. To ship to Alaska, they unfortunately want an additional $11, for a total of about $26. But I definitely want to try this. I love Pinata inks but get frustrated with the marks they leave and how they perform on Yupo. Thanks again!
Where do you get the larger sizes? I can only find 12x12. Thanks for all the info, laughs, inspiration, and help. :)
Thank you for that video! Unfortunately that product is hard to get in the UK. :(
Myriam you are a DOLL!! :) Thank you for this wonderful informative video...I've wished there was an alternative to YUPO. Thank you! :)
Might be worth testing the longevity of artwork done on a substrate that the medium doesn't adhere to? right? It's got me thinking.... though I don't make masterpieces, it would still be a bummer to pull artwork out and find it flaking off. Just thinking out loud. I like everyone else thinks this id is really cool plastic sheeting! TFS
Miriam, does it matter what side you use on this new Grafix? Thanks
Great video, great info!
Myriam ,I find myself being hypnotised by your hand movements and completely forget what you're saying lol.Have you marble your nails btw because they look groovy 😉
What a great video. Thank you
