- Syed Muzammil Shah is a broadcast journalist and talk show host currently associated with Capital TV. He is also a political scientist and a social critic. In this session of "Baat se Baat" he will share his observation on fascism & media in contemporary Pakistan.
It is a great change to hear someone sensible from Pakistan. Pity he has no hope of being in power.
I am from India and I must say that i have never heard such a nice talk. I am impressed that Pakistan is blessed with such intellectual people and we have hope that they will keep religion and politics separate. I will be happy to invite you to India into some literary festivals. You seems to be the best.....
Bro muzzamil is gem but people like him in pakistan are so less , that we can count them by a hand , India has thousands of gem like muzzamil , for example sushant sareen , abhijit iyer etc , again muzzamil doesn’t deserve a s*ithole like pakistan, come India and where minds like you’ll be appreciated

Propaganda did play a huge role in Nazi Germany, but that happened much later, after the Nazis were well established in the German parliament. Goebbels was made minister for propaganda in 1933 and started broadcasting Hitler's speeches on radio and organise the Nuremberg rallies which were spectacular visual propaganda events. However, the Nazis exploited racist ideas which were prevalent not only in Germany at the time, but even in European colonies and other countries like America and Japan, where racial superiority was taken as normal. Anti-semitism was deep rooted across Europe, and the Nazis simply encouraged it further. Hatred for Jews was already well established throughout Europe, hence when the Nazis targeted them, it was not met with the kind of resistance which is there in the West now, where Anti-semitism is a serious offence. Fascism always develops in societies where some form of extremism already exists and remains unchecked or unchallenged.

Bhutto was a perfect example of a fascist leader. Like Hitler he used populist slogans to get himself elected. How ironical that the blue collar workers became Bhutto's biggest fans knowing fully well that he represented the feudal class. After becoming prime minister he used fascist tactics and kicked out all labor union leaders from his fascist PPP party.
