For any Yugioh people finding this (and maybe a tip when bringing future Yugioh personalities in this), Digimon kinda works like if Zoodiacs' core one card XYZ mechanic was the norm. Except whenever you climb in Digimon you ALSO draw a card AND half the good low level creatures have the Lyrilusc/Utopia thing of granting effects when they are material.
For any Magic people, Digimon is a game where everyone plays Mutate decks.
    Edit:
Some interesting comparisons for the ones Farfa got wrong:
    - Greymon could be seen as a cheap or free special summon, kinda like the Rank 3 spam guys. He is cheap, reliable and used to climb up into higher beaters fast.
    - Creepymon is in that awkward spot boss monsters that do stuff depending on the amount of stuff your opponent has are in. Digimon does share with Yugioh that your win con shouldn't rely on your opponent doing stuff.
    - Omnimon is Gustav Max. Blitz at the end of the day is Digimon's keyword for Cowboy for game. You do all of your turn, beat the shit out of your opponent and before they get to do anything else you kill them before they take their turn back.
Blinding Ray does sit in a very fascinating spot in game design. I don't think there is another game where ramp for life loss is really questioned as a generic good move. Ask a magic player if they would pay 4 life for an extra land and they would paying up all over the floor already.
However, Security being an actual game maker for Yellow kinda pushes it into this awkward spot where there IS a scenario where paying life for ramp is not a good idea.
I love the concept of Security so much, what can I say

Farfa clearly didn't understand that as he evaluated Bacomon, Greymon and WereGarurumon as them being played on turn 3, 5 and 7 respectively.

There are a set of purple cards that work with Creepymon's on Digivolution effect, and its the purple Cerberusmon and Cerberusmon: Werewolf mode since if you have an existing Cerberusmon on the field, WHILE having a Werewolf mode in the trash, Creepymon brings back the Werewolf Mode which has an On Play effect to Trash a Cerberusmon to gain 9 memory, which also in turn would trigger Cerberusmon's on Deletion effect of draw 2 discard 1. Now I don't know how good in Play this idea of a play is But its something that Creepymon can pull off at least.

I'll honestly defend Creepymon here, it's not the best BUT it's a Great Demon Lord that gives you a free Lv 5 play, meaning it synergizes really well with Lucemon and SkullSatamon. There are ways to mill this card, easily get it out of the trash, throw a Lv 5 Lucemon away, and then play it. Which is really solid since on-play Lv 5 Lucemon can delete a Digimon Lv 6 or lower. So this basically just becomes 3 cost removal that gives you another body on the field with the right setup.
Is it the best setup? Not really, there's better archetypes out there. BUT it has more going for it than you'd expect because it can just casually play Lv 5 Lucemon while still triggering the effect if your opponent just has 2 or more cards out. And, from my experience, there's A LOT of times where they'll have two or more things out.

    • @dracocrusher
      @dracocrusher 3 місяці тому

It's so funny rewatching this video years later because it's like "Man, they did Creepymon dirty! The Lucemon setup allowing his on-play effect to trigger is niche, but it's pretty solid if you use draw 1/trash 1 effects to get the right thing in your trash."
It feels like we only really got 'better' Lucemon support recently. I know Lucemon's an older card in the game, but now that Mastemon Ace is a thing it's finally become completely replaced as a setup since Ace costs play for super cheap anyways. To be fair, old DNA Digivolve Mastemon was really good with it, but it was a bit harder to really get out compared to just one 3 cost Lv 6 (despite Mastemon having better payoff for it).
If it wasn't for that it might weirdly have had a chance to get a slight second wind as a niche way to cheese out the newer Lucemon cards. But without a 'real' archetype that can climb up to it, it was always going to struggle as an option, I think.

I really can't blame him for not getting Blitz, it's such a weird effect. You normally wouldn't even think about end-phase stuff because "well why wouldn't you just attack before the turn ends?" but in Digimon giving your opponent memory IS the end of your turn. So this gives you a chance to swing, evolve up, and then swing again even if you should have passed your turn.
Basically, it gives you an attack where you wouldn't normally have one. So if you have, say, +1 Security attack on a Lv 6, then this kills at 2 Security, right? And if your opponent is at 4 Security then this would set them to zero while also being pretty hard to get rid of once it evolves up. That's the difference between winning and losing a game.

He would have transfered the "Hearthstone thoughts" of Wild Growth (gain 1 empty mana crystal) to Innervate (gain 2 mana this turn), which were both amazing cards run in all druids deck at one point before their nerfs.

first off, great fun video really had a good time watching ! love to see more. However, like some mentioned, you could do a better job of describing some of the rules and showing stuff to these guys. Also, on a personal level, i think some of these ratings on cards are off. Like blinding ray! that card IS nuts. Just because its not used a lot currently doesnt make a card bad or mid imo. Thats like saying jack raid or hammer spark are bad because theyre not being played a lot in top/current decks. Maybe thats just me. Again, great vid !

gotta say, having a 20 card hand in vanguard would be wild because card advantage is VERY RELEVANT in the game. if 20 in hand becomes average then power creep has gone too far. 6-9 is generally good

What's bad about milling in Digimon tcg is, sure there's a lot of purple cards, and some in other colors, that do stuff when milled, by milling, if milling is used, but there's almost no trash-to-deck effects and even less play-from-trash effects. So milling is not very viable right now. You can be milled to death, too. If you have no cards to draw in your draw phase, you lose. Draw effects are not effected by this ruling, though.
Also, if that OG Omnimon at the end was an Ace, it'd be limited or even banned.

I feel the guy didn't really understand how memory works. Like it seemed to me like they thought it works like mana in hearthstone, where you can'tsprnd more than your current turn number worth of memory. Maybe next tome maybe give a more thorough rundown of the basic game rules.

got most the way through but it was a struggle, there seemed to be a huge misunderstanding on the memory system where Farfa seemed to think that each player had memory and gained it each turn similar to hearthstone or don in OP and that like a swinging pendulum that goes back and forth so it was a very painful watch nothing seeing this be corrected throughout

i think he didnt quite understand the rules especially how the memory works (he thought its like HS where you gain 1 memory each turn thats why he said ramping and gaining 2 mem turn 1 is great) and how evolving works so in the future better give him gameplay examples since most people are visual learners or just make him play the tutorial app for like 5 mins

as someone that never played digimon, I'll tag along
bakomon. doesn't really seem to do anything, I'll say it's bad
greymon. based on my experience with pokemon, the anime mascot cards are often bad so I'll go with that
weregarurumon. saying it's borrelword and the ability to almost single handedly win the game makes me think it's good, although seems understated comparing to greymon line, i will still say it's good
Analog youth. initially I though it was good, but considering you can't choose what is in the security pile and drawing seems easy, maybe it's not so good? (big oof)
hidden potential discovered. idk, depends if green is the archetype that can make big dudes? seems very good if drawing is easy
creepymon. seems lika a good late game monster, putting stuff for free sounds very good and big stats are funny. I'd guess it's good unless it's uncommon to have more than one digimon in play at any moment
blinding ray. are there otks in this game? this reeks like an otk card. perhaps it's an aggro card instead? might be good on aggro, so great in some specific decks?
diaboromon. maybe it's good but I will say it's not, seems expensive and usually depending on an attack on a expensive thing isn't a good strategy in tcgs, my guess is that the intended use in this is to generate a token and level up stuff on top of it
omnimon. looks like a good finisher, but I have doubts on how practical it would be, if I understood it well you can win the game on the spot with weregarurumon + this in one turn right? it reminds me of acesscode talker a bit... it's good I guess?

Coming from Yugioh I can't think why someone would chose to keep 1 security over 2 memory 🔥🔥🔥, besides isn't yellow supposed to be available to recover security?

    • @ExclusivePokeLife
      @ExclusivePokeLife Рік тому +1

That’s because this guy was wrong about Blinding Ray it was in BT5 one of the best cards for the best deck and then in BT7 again it was used in yellow/purple hybrid decks with Dynasmon the deck was all about recovery. so yes the card doesn’t see as much play as it used it to but what’s the point of asking if it’s good and then saying it’s terrible because the meta power creep is insane 😑

people use it on XH decks post banlist bcs X4 limited to 1
then they abuse Mervamon to play 2 digimon, using this card and Gravity Crusher for more memory
0 Security doesn't matter if you win in that turn
