I know i'll catch a lot of flack for dislike #5..but remember it's completely subjective AND the looks of the Palisade really grew on me over the week. It looks even better in person. Here's the detailed Palisade review: ua-cam.com/video/1wYqhx4-_Q4/v-deo.html *Thanks for watching and have an awesome day!*
I think that the back end looks fine, but I struggle with the front end. Even though I don't want an Explorer, that front end looks leaps and bounds better. I agree also, the Telluride is better looking.
REM REM I’d go for the telluride. I like the style more and it still has everything I like for features..Palisade and Telluride differ just a little with what features are standard but otherwise almost identical every other way. Which one do you like more?
Just bought a 2020 Limited FWD. This is our first BRAND NEW CAR in 32 years of marriage. I love it. Steel Graphite with Black interior. Looked at Telluride, but couldn't find it anywhere...Palisade is great!
@StrangeDayz i can add to your question. I own a 2020 limited awd. Bought it a year ago and already put 40k miles on it (crazy year) it has been an amazing vehicle, regular maintenance and thats it. Ive done the wind noise TSB and thats fixed. Been averaging 22.5 mpg over my ownership. If you re deciding on getting this car, i assure you wont regret it. I still look back every time i park it.
Did you get a good deal or did you have to pay sticker price? I want one, but I hear a lot of dealerships are selling above sticker - take it or leave it attitude.
I bought my wife a Moonlight Cloud SEL AWD two weeks ago. She got the premium/convenience packages along with a sunroof, carpeted floor mats and a cargo net. It’s as close to the Limited trim as you can get with a middle row bench seat. Which she desperately needs. The Limited only offers captain chairs for 7 passengers. The Limited has a heads up display on the windshield, blind spot monitors in the gauges, color match wheel well trim, chrome trim as opposed to silver and a couple other insignificant options that doesn’t make it worth another 8k. Our sticker price was $42,375. Awesome for a build with this engineering, detail and quality! Very pleased thus far!
I APPLAUD you for your opening comment about the seating. I’ve seen dozens of videos on these two vehicles and not once have I heard this opinion expressed. All of the reviewers applaud how beautiful and comfortable the captain’s chairs are and keep moving. The reality is that people looking for larger SUVs like this are upgrading because they want more room and more passenger space. Hyundai/Kia removing a seat from the vehicle just because the trim level has nicer accommodations is counter productive and it’s actually annoying to me. I think the vehicle is a really good value for the segment and it’s got some of the most rear seat passenger room but I don’t know if I’d buy it. I want the items that come with the Limited/SX trim but I want all 8 seats. They’re essentially selling us a 4 seater vehicle with a couple of backup seats and that works against the value proposition. I also agree with you about the looks. I like the outside of the Telluride but I like the inside of the Palisade. Since I would spend all of my time inside I’d opt for the Palisade with the digital displays, more upscale looking console and better looking seats. Thanks for the video👍
As a parent with 3 kids, I hate the bench seat. No one ever sits in that middle seat...ever. Instead, they have to constantly move that bench forward and back to get to the 3rd row. MUCH easier to have captain's chairs and the passengers just slide through the opening between the captain's chairs to the 3rd row. Much more ergonomic, spacious, and useful for 99.9% of the time.
@@CaptainDawg02 we have 3 kids and completely agree with your comment here. Having captain chairs on the second row create much-easier access to third row and opens up for better airflow to third row. We've had 2 Acura MDX and the third-row was small without any air vents. The second row of the MDX was a huge bench and the kids felt uncomfortable sitting on the third row (although they kept trying to sit there because it's the furthest from the parents, I guess :)).
When I finally saw a Palisade in person, it was much prettier than in the pics I had seen. My biggest complaint (and I don't even own a Palisade) is the range on a tank of gas.
My wife just bought a Palisade after many weeks of shopping and researching. I was also concerned at first about the GDI with no port injection, but after some digging there is a product out there that is specifically designed to clean GDI intake systems. Typically available at your local auto parts stores, it is made by a couple different brands which are well known for engine treatments. The general theme seems to be to use a can of the stuff within a few days before your next oil change, or at least every second change. From what I could gather, these seem to be easy to use and not expensive at all. Several good videos about all of this on UA-cam.
I have a 2012 Genesis with a 5.0L V8 GDi engine as well as the Palisade I picked up when they came out. Love the truck, unbeatable value hands-down. As for the Gas Direct Injection, I get the cars de-carbonized every 50K. EVERY GDi engine has to be de-carbonized. GDi engines are used in everything these days from Audi's to BMW's.
How reliable Hyundai Palisade V6 gdi engine is? Is this very good quality v6 engine? Will this engine run for 400k to 500k km Without Any Big Issues? Can anyone say about it?
i am a sells person for Hyundai and i love it. He is not wrong with anything he said, it has tons of space, comfortable drive, and the dislikes he had were so minimal... you get more tech, space, and warranty than any other SUV like it, and it is cheaper than the rest.
We just took my wife's 2021 Palisade Calligraphy on a road trip from NY to NC and back. We averaged 27.5 mpg both ways. For a vehicle of this size, I've got no complaints.
I just got my wife the mid level trim with some stuff about 42k. I love the telluride, however its her vehicle and she picked the pallisade over the telluride. Great car, rides nice, sometimes the lane assist gets on my nerves when it thinks I'm getting too close to the edge of the road it trys to steer me to the center and its like no im avoiding pothole stoop. But its not overpower you at all. Also what shocked me the most the steering vibrated one day when it noticed one car was slowing down in front of me and then it started applying slight brake pressure. I was like man I really moved up in the world with this car.
I just don’t understand or those dislikes of Palisade’s styling and all the love towards Telluride. To me Kia’s front looks like Cadillac SRX from twenty years ago, boring and dated. Hyundai on the other hand looks fresh and different. I would go for Palisade and probably I will soon. P.S. Really like your reviews. Greetings from Montreal.
I felt bad making that a dislike...cuz I didn’t like it when I first saw it but it seriously looks quite stunning in person. Thank you very much and I appreciate your input! Greetings from Texas!
I love both the Palisade and Telluride. They are nearly identical on a lot of bases. The difficult part with the Telluride is the low production numbers. They are hard to come by due to their popularity and low production plus COVID shut down their manufacturing plants. That made the difficult choice of picking between the two easier. My Palisade will be here on Friday. Great review!!
Omg same here!!! But i thought maybe it was just the angle of the camera or the fact that I'm seeing it on TV as opposed to in person. But ya that was WAAAY too close for comfort!!!
I was thinking the same thing. I was almost thinking that he should just wait till after he leaves the construction zone to start going through his additional review points - especially with abnormal lane pattern due to the road work. Obviously, he handled it just fine - it just made me nervous watching him go through that and then that truck getting a little too close for comfort. Funny comment about the backseat youtube driver. hahaha
I test drove both the palisade and the telluride. The telluride’s front seats are more confining than its second row or the palisade’s front seats. I believe the palisade seats are more comfortable especially for longer drives.
I'm going to give Palisade in white a serious look when I start car shopping next spring. I'm just waiting for the supply/demand curve to flatten out. Thank you for the review and the comments. These are both great looking cars.
Hate my Pallisade from day one. I’ve had both mechanical and service issues. I also hate some of the features. I’ve in the Notheast, this morning it was zero. Used the car starter and it doesn’t run long enough to defrost the windshield and the car shuts off! Can’t wait to trade it!
I traded in my Telluride LX for a Palisade Limited two days ago, couldn't be happier. Sure, I could have got the EX/SX Telly but they are hard to find. I think if you buy either one of these vehicles, you are lucky! Telluride and Palisade are hard to find today. For those looking though, Sheehy Hyundai in Waldorf, Maryland has 1 Limited left!
You're right about finding Palisades. Woodbridge Hyundai has good amount of them but I ended up getting Limited one at the Capitol Heights Hyundai. Quite impressive SUV. I just wish there was more space behind the 3rd row with the seats up for like a weekend getaway with at least 5 people.
With regard to the engine not have supplemental port injection you have to keep in mind that it uses the Atkinson cycle. The intake valve remains open as the compression stroke begins which pushes some air and fuel over the back of the intake valve. This allows detergents in the fuel to coat the back of the valve and prevents carbon build up. While this doesn't "wash" the back of the valve like SPI does, in theory it's still far better than a dry valve DI system. Also for whatever reason standard otto cycle Hyundai/Kia DI engines have never really had significant carbon build up issues like some other brands. I'm sure they exist to an extent, but they seem to have far less of an issue with it.
I’ve had two highlanders. When my lease was up I was determined to drive a 2020 highlander. The Hyundai dealer was across the street so I went to go see the SEL. I was blown away. I compared it to the highlander XLE. No comparison.! Luxurious looking car. Powerful quiet. I now lease a burgundy one. PS the telluride is sporty but Ugly..
MIKEDOM DOM Have to agree. Test drove a Palisade Limited and a Highlander Hybrid on the same day. No comparison. The Palisade was better in every way except fuel economy, and the Toyota’s interior design and materials were simply awful.
Very candid review and fair. I agree with all your points, as I've test driven the Telluride, Palisade and Toyota Highlander. Honestly, if I was going for a V6, I'd likely go with the Telluride. However, I care about fuel economy so most likely I may go with the new Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Hopefully Kia and Hyundai will consider hybrid versions of these SUVs in the near future.
For those of you who played and remember this - the lane detection beeping reminds me almost exactly of the notification beep from the old late 90's Roller Coaster Tycoon PC game. Thought that was pretty funny. hahaha
We went with the Limited because the wife wanted that digital gauge cluster. I personally wanted to go with an SEL and add options. I'm not the one driving it every day, but in my opinion the SEL is a better looking vehicle. The Limited has the less attractive Rims, and Grille. Those suttles differences make for a huge difference in appearance imo. Just don't get what goes on with who ever has the final say so about design with Hyundai. Take a pool and see who picks what looks better, the Grille and Rims on the Limited, or Grille and Rims on the SEL.
Re: Limited not having a bench seat, I agree. I also agree that the Telluride looks better. Finally, I wish it had auto folding mirrors. I am very happy with my Pali tho. Great camera coverage.
How do you grade the sound system? I road-tested it and one-two things I dislike are the wind noise and the sound system in the Limited for my taste is not good. My Ford Fusion sound system sounds better. You owe this vehicle what do you think about the sound system?.
Have to disagree on the last dislike. I prefer the Palisade over the Telluride. But everyone has their preferences. I also love the fact that the Palisade has remote start on the key fob unlike the Telluride.
Great video man. I'm interested in the Palisade Calligraphy 2021. I agree on that the Telluride looks better it's just like the design is sportier and more masculine but the interior of the Palisade is nicer. Also the Telluride is not available in my country yet 😩
Thank you! I’m sorry but I haven’t. I haven’t been able to get Access to any Subarus except a couple at an event or auto show. I’d tell you what I know about them if I was familiar with them, but I’m not. Sorry about that!
Your second point... you didn’t make your research. The 3.8 has been around and is a great engine. I had it in my Hyundai Genesis sedan and it was perfect and no issues. Your point about the body role...youre in an SUV man. It’s built to float and wishy wash lol. It’s comfort. You should have bought the Telluride instead of you wanted sportier handling. Great review and congrats
I’ll definitely take that 3.8 over some of the competitions small turbos! I wish they still included port injection though. I do these 5 likes and dislikes on lots of vehicles and I truly had a hard time thinking of 5 things I don’t like lol. They’re all minor! Thanks!
My wife and I have been shopping for 6 months looking at Telluride, Palisade, CX-9, Highlander, Ford, etc. Palisade won out. We bought a Limited all-wheel drive. Gas mileage shouldn't be a problem going from a 2003 Sequoia for 15 years.
The inefficiency remark can also be said for the Tucson. I bought a 2019 Tucson and I average 24 MPG with a mix of highway and city driving, but I know the RAV4, CR-V, and the Ford Escape are all more efficient. Seems that Hyundai needs to work on that.
@@allenabey2721 if you read my comment you would see I'm making a reference to the Tuscon, which falls into the Compact Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV), and competes with the RAV4, Escape, the Chevy Equinox, and Kia Sportage. The Palisade falls into the mid-size three row SUV and includes competitors such as the Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer and the Chevy Traverse. Comparing the Tucson and Palisade is irrelevant because they are different sized vehicles. I was referring to the comment made in that the Palisade is not as efficient as its competitors and the same can be said for the Tuscon.
Agree, I also have the 2019 Tucson 2.0L and going on highway doesn't even give good mileage. Usually it's 2000-2400RPM while on 80MPH. Hyundai need to work on a cylinder deactivation or something.
Just purchased a palisade SEL and I must say I love. Feels very light weight and has the prestige look to it. Got the captains chairs, to keep kids away from each other... had to take advantage of that 1.9 APR financing
Great review! A 2020 Highlander Platinum also comes COMPLETELY LOADED at $48,800 in AWD and $47,275 in FWD. The Palisade looks great, but I'd personally go with Toyota reliability and resale. I also personally think the Telluride looks much much better than the Palisade, which is already pretty nice looking itself!
Thank you! Toyota did a nice job with the new Highlander! I can’t wait to spend more time in one and I can’t blame you at all for sticking to the reliability! We own two Toyota’s at my house...ones an ‘04 highlander 😁👍
After extensive testing of Palisade and Telluride, we drove back to our Toyota dealership and left with a Highlander too. We keep our cars for a very long time, and the Toyota’s legendary reliability and longevity sold us again. A friend has an ‘05 Highlander with 408K miles on the same powertrain. Do I think anyone will get that kind of mileage on any Hyundai or Kia?! Historically, no. The best veteran mechanic I know says that every vehicle is the sum total of its parts; and that he believes that every part on a Toyota is better than it’s counterpart on a Korean car. He and his wife both drive Toyotas.
The depreciation of Hyundai is bad . But I really like it for my family. Hopefully it has enough room for luggage on road trip. I dont know if I really want to drop $50,000 with the problem with fuel injection. ButI think i probably want to wait another year. The price will drop significantly.
$47K is a lot for someone looking to trade a Hyundai in a couple years. If you are like my wife and keep your vehicles for 6 years, depreciation shouldn't be an issue. I will say the Palisade has more options than the 2019 Audi Q8 I used to drive..and for half the price.
The 29 mpg highlander is hybrid , non hybrid is the same mpg, the gdi engine is not a problem , it is an advantage over the ones with turbo , when turbo fails it’s expensive to replace .
Highlander hybrid is 36 mpg. Those numbers are for gas direct and port injected highlander. solely GDI is a problem in lots of vehicles with excessive carbon buildup and even some oil dilution, time will tell with the Palisade. I’m with you about turbos, I would much rather have the naturally aspirated engines
I just got in from driving one of these. WAnted to test the Kia too, but my local dealer was out of them. Can you expand on your direct injection concern? Why is that a problem? I want to buy my next vehicle for towing, and keep it for many years - I've been sticking to the Korean and Japanese brands as a result.
GDI engines are showing up in more and more vehicles. The problem is direct injection allows carbon buildup on the backside of the intake valves. It will eventually be bad enough to affect idle, fuel mileage, and can lead to rough engine running. Port injection allows the gasoline to prevent this from happening
You nailed it right it limited doesn’t come with2nd row bench seat and lower trims doesn’t have dual roof and other tech package. Honda touring , Ford Explorer limited does have bench seat option. I am not a fan of Ford though. What a bummer
I traded in a 2017 Tucson Sport for the Palisade SEL. I've had it for a week or so and I'm liking it a lot so far. It is taking me some getting used to, though, being bigger. I noticed the suspension being a little soft, but that's OK. I can't wait to get it out on a road trip! I noticed the wind noise, but it's not terrible. I hope Hyundai can fix that eventually, but it's definitely not a deal breaker. Not sure how I feel about the push-button shifter. It's just different, but again, I'm getting used to it.
I've had my 2020 Palisade since Nov 2019, my lifetime average miles per gallon right now is 28.5 mpg. Sometimes I hit 30 sometimes its 26, keep your foot out of it and you'll get 28 all day long.
I traded mazda CX-9 to Palisade limited. my only complain is wind noise from doors. this SUV drive as S class under 60 mile but if it's over 60 mile ,excessive noise is coming from doors compare to other cars. that's only my complain, other than that everything is great!
I road test Ford explorer and Palisade the same day. Probably 30 minutes apart. Palisade is way more comfortable and quieter than Ford Explorer. This Palisade rides like a Cadillac...
I like the looks of the Palisades. My neighbor has purchased one and it looks great in the light as well as the dark. Her last vehicle was the large Lexus 460.
Hey Nolan. The Palisade and Telluride have heated and cooled back captain chairs on the top level and this is an exclusive in this segment. You know how you like your back seat A/C vents in Texas but now Cooled Seats and I hear the Korean twins have a very Strong System that actually is cold. Not just air. I like the looks of both as they have grown on me too, So you tell Mrs. Nolan that you are picking up the first Telluride that is discounted. I remember then the Silly PT Cruiser was brand new. 2 years people paid over sticker and then they couldn’t give them away at the end. Be patient grass hopper.
That is definitely an awesome feature and it surprises me for sure. That expensive Lincoln Navigator a couple months ago didn’t even have ventilated rear seats so that’s sweet. Haha I’d love to have one. I remember when those PT Cruisers came out...craziness. Have a great week sir!
Have a 2013 Genesis with the same engine in the Palisade. The engine is dependable, powerful and runs on regular unleaded. We are trading our Genesis for a Palisade SEL with all options offered which was just under $42 and you lose very little from the Limited model for about $4k less. Purse storage area makes wives happy.😎. Looks vote goes to Palisade over Telluride!
What I like about Hyundhai cars is the insane Warranty. Most car manufacters offer 3 and sell you a premium for more, Hyundai comes in and say nah we got you 5 years which is good because most problem usually happens after 3 years, but Hyundai are making such realiable cars and a run for your money, There was even a dude here in Canada who had a 2013 elantra with 1 millions kilometers on it, original motor, and just changed the transmission once!) When you compared it to Honda or Toyota which are knowed to be good cars, huyndhai is the underdog good value and good cars, not to mention you have a bunch of features and gadget that are usually more expensive elswehere. The only thing I wish they did is to offer ac and the infotainement as standard like Honda (on manual cars) cuz they dont come in the base model :(
I have the Palisade, as I don't mind the Telluride front as much but I hate the amber DRLs and the rear tail lights just don't don't do it for me. However, they are both great vehicles I am glad I waited though I almost got the Telluride but I prefer the Palisade interior much more so.
I waited so long to get this vehicle in a particular color and in my enthusiasm, I later realized that some of the flaws keep nagging at me. As a handicapped driver - and female, I find that the seats and arm rest are best designed for a man. In comparing to my old minivan, there was an extra arm rest that would compensate for sitting closer to the steering wheel. I've since managed to get it better positioned, but it took several weeks of not being comfortable with the seating. Another comparison is that with the minivan, it was easy to reach behind you on the floor. With the Palisades, I have no place to hold my purse (no way is a female purse really fitting in the under compartment!) and cane without either invading the passenger's space or having to get out, open the back door, and retrieve either item. I also miss a coin holder but apparently you can buy one as an accessory. I just took a plastic container and placed it in the center console compartment. LOL, it definitely teaches you to ALWAYS use your turn signals, even with lane changes . Also, I got the Limited which was a great price without nickel and diming you.
I hear you on the last point. I am currently trying to make a selection from the Pallisade, Telluride and Explorer ST. The Explorer will most likely win out because I have a strong affinity for the interior features of the Pallisade and the exterior features of the Telluride but either way it seems something is missing. Based upon my previous performance based SUVs the Ford seems logical. If I could get a Telluride with paddle shifters, full video command pod, a gear selector dial instead of the stick, power rear seat fold down and the extra storage spaces in the console area, I would happily forego the additional horses under the hood in the Ford.
The direct injection concerns me also. I like the value of what you get with this SUV but will it be as good as a Highlander in the long run? I have a 2008 with 190k miles with no issues. Will this be as good? Don't know. Thanks for great reviews.
Same here, the Highlander reputation is awesome. We have an ‘04 with 170k that’s been great. Glad to hear yours is doing awesome too and thanks for watching!
I used to like the Telluride more in photos too. We bought a hyper white SEL with convenience pkg, that adds the 20" wheels among other niceties. It is completely stunning in that pearl white color. The vertical drls are one of my fav styling features on the Palisade. I also like the interior design and practicality better than the Telluride also.
I bought a Palisade. Love the way it looks from the front. Different from any other car/suv. However not a fan of the back. I think the Kia Telluride looks better from the back.
I went shopping yesterday. Whether you like the Kia vs. Hyundai it doesn’t matter. You can’t get a Kia. There isn’t 1 in the dealership. They are all sold 6 months ago. Told if I ordered today I would get it in 6 months. At Hyundai s I visited they all had 10 or more Palisades and were giving about $1,200 discount. Personally I like the interior of Palisade much better. All else being the same, I’m getting the Palisade.
No folding side mirrors? Just seems like an easy and required option on this sized vehicle & at the trim/price point it's trying to ask. I am worried about that engine. Seems under-powered for this heavy vehicle & long-term reliability for that type of engine under that load stress (especially if you tow anything) is concerning.
CaptainDawg02 I dropped Palisade for 2 reasons, the no folding mirrors and the dial tranny thing, hate not having stick, waiting for the 2021 Telluride to see if they’ve addressed the GDI valve problem.
Just to clarify for future readers. The Palisade's shifter is a button type selector the dial is the terrain mode selector. The dial doesn't matter since 95% of you are going to leave it smart or comfort mode anyway.
bolonysandwich We’ve driven ours about 1500 miles took a 700 mile trip and the Palisade is amazing. The safety and convenience features make the drive much more relaxing along with how quiet and comfortable it is.
I much prefer the look of the Palisade over the Telluride.. So glad none of your dislikes bother me at all! As soon as I can talk myself into spending that much for a car, I'm in..
Wasn't thrilled about dropping that much coin either, but we bought a Palisade Limited just over a week ago and I have to say it is truly a wonderful vehicle. It's exterior is striking in a way, in my opinion, the Telluride isn't. I admit I preferred the look of the Telly better at first, but that Palisade's understated elegance really grew on me. We went with the black exterior with the lighter, beige interior. So classy. You'd think you were driving an Audi or Mercedes if badging weren't visible. To hell with losing a few MPG vs. Highlander or the overpriced Explorer. I'd buy this vehicle again every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Can't imagine you'd be disappointed with this one.
Yes, VERY subjective. But that's why I like what the Hyundai Motor Group did with Kia. They made sure that both designs went different ways. One with a more truck-like, beefy look, and the other had more curves and a somewhat elegant appearance. Something for both groups - granted the only downside is if you like something about the interior of the Palisade and yet you like the exterior of the Telluride (or vice versa ) ~ Not much you can do about that conundrum. I actually don't mind Kia's take on it but I do prefer the Palisade.
Got my hyper white about a week ago. I like it..many in ohio dont even know what it is. Lol. I enjoy it other than the fact that the wipers just go off randomly when its dry, and i noticed air coming through the sunroof pretty bad when it was closed.
Hi Nolan, per Car and Driver: "A large amount of wind noise penetrates the doors" Did you experience this? I've read elsewhere this has been a serious issue for a lot of people. Wondering if Hyundai has addressed it for 2021
I’ve heard of this too, and I’ve heard there is a service bulletin out about it for a fix (but not sure if it’s actually been fixed). I actually am driving a 2021 Palisade this week and have noticed more wind noise from drivers side than the palisade in this video. It’s not necessarily loud, but more noticeable. I’ve talked to a couple owners who say theirs has that problem. I’d you’re considering one, make sure to get it up to high speeds and see what you think
If money wasn't an issue which midsize 3rd row suv is best? Cx-9 Enclave Pilot Highlander Palisade Explorer Tellaride And which of the choices is overall best bang for the buck?
Dang that’s tough lol. I think it depends exactly what someone prioritizes in a vehicle. IMO, The CX-9 is the best for driving dynamics, the Palisade/Telluride are the most practical in terms of space and usability, the Explorer has a powerful sporty option. All definitely have their pros and cons but overall bang for buck I would say palisade/telluride. They offer so much. If they hold resale value well then they’re fantastic. Highest resale will probably be Pilot and Highlander though
I still think the Palisade front looks better than all the Chevy SUV and Trucks. From the side it even looks better. It's like the Lexus grill that the more you look at it and the closer you look at it, it's a unique design. You didn't say the car is AWD or not and I wondered if the AWD model has more sure footing on turning. I will pick my new Palisade Limited AWD later this week and will see how it drives/rides.
Yes this particular one was AWD and it felt very well planted. I didn’t really get to drive it in any slippery situations except some rain but no issues there. That’s awesome and I hope you enjoy it 😁👍
After Toyota Highlander my second choice is Hyundai palisade. Honda Pilot has transmission problems, ford explorer has transmission and electrical issues.
Got to say, there is no reason I would ever buy a 2WD version of this vehicle. That to me is a waste of time & it was said it should be GENESIS. I now know why it is not....The GENESIS is in the pipeline! OOOOH! The HTRAC AWD is phenomenal!
Good video, I enjoyed your liles and dislikes, although I disagree on the fact that I love the no middle seat in the back , and I love the stylish overall way above the Kia brother, and when you put it on a side by side comparison with Lexus and explorer that's all I needed to here, this by far is my next acquisition. !!!
How is the transmission, I own a 2016 Tucson and I have grown tired of the noticeable shudder during dead stop acceleration. Blogs say that is within the operating characteristics of the dual clutch transmission. Not a show stopper, just annoying to get used to . By comparison my 2016 Nissan Versa CVT is smooth as silk unless under heavy acceleration.
I definitely understand the shudder with those dual clutch transmissions. They annoy me too. Thankfully this has a conventional automatic and it’s quite smooth. Compared to other 3 rows I’ve been in recently (Highlander and Explorer) it’s smoother operating than those. No complaints with that!
Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. I think this is attractive while I don’t like the looks of the Telluride at all. I’ve been up close and personal with both and the Telluride is just ugly. IMHO.
Can you please say honestly how Hyundai Palisade v6 gdi engine is? Is this very good quality v6 engine? Will this engine run 500k to 600k km? I want to know because I have a confusion to choose from Hyundai Palisade V6, Volkswagen Atlas sel V6, and Honda Pilot Elite V6, please give me the right information because I want to choose a V6 car which will run perfectly 500k to 600k km without any big issues
I own a Palisade SEL fwd with convenience pkg, and when using the smart cruise control, I was getting a trip computer indicated 32mpg. I was pleasantly surprised. This was while in the smart drive mode.
@@JulezWinnfield Lighter weight, better fuel efficiency, and less maintenance required. Fwd does just fine in the mild winters we get here in Knoxville.
Test drove all the fancy newbies in the market (Palisade and kia twin). Why are vehicles getting too complicated with electronics? Was having a very difficult time focusing on the car and ride. By the time I get used to the tech, it will be time to sell it or one of the tech will break. So bought a 4runner limited last week. We love it.
Palisade does look better also cant really compare it to subaru or toyota either cause the weight and transmission are a totally different set up, but what you get in a palisade compare to telluride you get more bang for your buck so far i have no complaints with my palisade at all love it.
Is there a smell? We are looking for a larger SUV I currently drive the Volvo XC40 so this was one of our options. But now that people are complaint about the smell of the seats it’s a turn off.
I must say , ilike your likes/dislikes videos! As far as Palisades go I like this one best. But I am with you the Telluride looks better. I wish they were RWD with a small V8. That being said, I would take a Telluride over the Explorer. The value and quality kill the Ford. Then add in the warranty and its a no brainer. Good job Sir!
I know i'll catch a lot of flack for dislike #5..but remember it's completely subjective AND the looks of the Palisade really grew on me over the week. It looks even better in person.
Here's the detailed Palisade review: ua-cam.com/video/1wYqhx4-_Q4/v-deo.html
*Thanks for watching and have an awesome day!*
I think that the back end looks fine, but I struggle with the front end. Even though I don't want an Explorer, that front end looks leaps and bounds better. I agree also, the Telluride is better looking.
Eric D. 💯 👌 🚗 🚚
Prime Autotainment between this and the telluride which one would you go for?
@@ruelizabeth5881 There are a few features that are offered on the Palisade that are not offered on the Telluride, so just be aware.
REM REM I’d go for the telluride. I like the style more and it still has everything I like for features..Palisade and Telluride differ just a little with what features are standard but otherwise almost identical every other way. Which one do you like more?
That the dislikes are so insignificant just shows what an amazing vehicle this is for the price.
I like both SUV's but I like the Palisade looks even better.
I’m about to buy one this week , thanks for the review this was great
I purchased the 2020 Palisade this past weekend... and I love it!... I get looks on the road too.
Glad to hear it! 😁👍
Did you get a good deal or did you have to pay sticker price? I want one, but I hear a lot of dealerships are selling above sticker - take it or leave it attitude.
U will get boyfriends as well sooner
I have palisade sel model with leather all the bell and whistles loving it the ride is comfortable.
@@dhirajjdewan8069 I saw one in Reno NV, that had a $15 K MARKUP over sticker. Totally ridiculous!
Range for us is pretty good (not fantastic). Try owning a VW Atlas. You need gas before you need to stretch :)
Our range is over 400 miles on a tank. What numbers are you looking for?
@@KnowTheNewOfficialYeah it will. Ive known some people who reached 200k miles, No problems. I got one to with 30k miles with no problems
i am a sells person for Hyundai and i love it.
All the women like the Palisade over the Telluride! My wife too!
@@PrimeAutotainment ...you mentioned subjectivity and its an opinion shared by many so no apologies necessary. Great video as always!
My friend and I are both from Montreal and he just bought the Platinum last week in Graphite. I love it!
Just got one and love it. Tons of room, good power and can't beat warranty. Mine also came with 3 years maintenance.
Pete TheHawk how’s the sound system?
I love both the Palisade and Telluride. They are nearly identical on a lot of bases. The difficult part with the Telluride is the low production numbers. They are hard to come by due to their popularity and low production plus COVID shut down their manufacturing plants. That made the difficult choice of picking between the two easier. My Palisade will be here on Friday. Great review!!
4:54...I realize that the road is under construction but I thought that truck was uncomfortably close.
Conor K I thought the exact same thing! Lol
Conor K **DaMn.!!!!** 😵 💯 😠
Omg same here!!! But i thought maybe it was just the angle of the camera or the fact that I'm seeing it on TV as opposed to in person. But ya that was WAAAY too close for comfort!!!
Are you a back seat UA-cam driver?
I was thinking the same thing. I was almost thinking that he should just wait till after he leaves the construction zone to start going through his additional review points - especially with abnormal lane pattern due to the road work.
Obviously, he handled it just fine - it just made me nervous watching him go through that and then that truck getting a little too close for comfort.
Funny comment about the backseat youtube driver. hahaha
Love these 5 good/5 bad. Keep em coming, and thanks all the info.
Glad to hear it, thank you Jonathan!
I test drove both the palisade and the telluride. The telluride’s front seats are more confining than its second row or the palisade’s front seats. I believe the palisade seats are more comfortable especially for longer drives.
Good point!
Only 50 more stimulus checks to go and ill be driving that!! LOL.
Right 🤣🤣🤣
I traded in my Telluride LX for a Palisade Limited two days ago, couldn't be happier.
Essentially, you traded for the same vehicle? I hear that old " Big Chuck and Lil John laugh" 😆
Rick Dawkins man some people just make bad financial decisions. Imagine how many thousands this guy lost to switch to essentially the same car. 😂😂
Exactly what I was gonna say mate. Well said...😆
I’ve had two highlanders.
Thank you, same here. Glad to hear you’re happy with it! 👍
A Pali and a Telly? Is that the new Hyundai/Kia jargon the kids are using these days?
How do you grade the sound system? I road-tested it and one-two things I dislike are the wind noise and the sound system in the Limited for my taste is not good. My Ford Fusion sound system sounds better. You owe this vehicle what do you think about the sound system?.
@@JulezWinnfield hmm. I'm 67. I just like typng in short cuts
Good and well-balanced video. I'm wondering if you made a video on the Ascent. I looked through your channel and couldn't find one.
Bro you cant compare rav4, crv and escape with palisade those are way lighter cars so obviously fuel efficiency would be better
That's WHY hyundai is cheaper.
@@OffGridInvestor no it is not the reason. It's cheaper because it's Hyundai.
All I have to say, is YOUR HOT!!! and so is the Hyundai!!! Proud Hyundai owner here!!!
I only like the seats and the easiness of the controls. Thank you buddy 👍
I hear ya with those! Have a great day Key! 😁👍
I love the length of this video. I don’t love the 20 minute reviews I usually see
I try to do a mix of short and long for that reason, glad to hear it!
I like them both but I really don’t like the amber day time running lights on the telluride
Great simple review.
Thank you.
First. Great review. We are looking as many have between the Palisade and the Telluride. I think both are great vehicles.
Thank you! Definitely, they’re very impressive
Telluride is better than palisade . Compare both and you will get the answer
@@Hiteshsaluja7100 No, Telluride looks better on the outside but the Palisade wins in interior beauty and luxury.
I'm always checking to see if a window is cracked 😂
I road test Ford explorer and Palisade the same day. Probably 30 minutes apart. Palisade is way more comfortable and quieter than Ford Explorer. This Palisade rides like a Cadillac...
Honestly it depends on which u buy
Is it palisade highlander 3.8?
Is it palisade elite 22d?
That’s what depends
I have this car. The Bass is loud and I love the exterior
A Telluride with the Palisade interior would be a win.
Lovely car palisade. Hyundai cars are always gud. Nothing to dislike.
Thank you for keeping it short and straight to the point. No ranting, perfect!
60K for crappy Ford Explorer...No thanks I’ll take Kia/Hyundai, Highlander or Pilot any given day
Same here!
My uncles explorer costed 38 grand, with more power and better fuel economy
@@PCSPITTER4NY "costed" LOLOLOL

Same. Old Explorer sport 3 doors and 5 speed mt is the only Explorer I would get.
I own one and I’m very happy very smooth drive for the price
No folding side mirrors? Just seems like an easy and required option on this sized vehicle & at the trim/price point it's trying to ask.
I am worried about that engine. Seems under-powered for this heavy vehicle & long-term reliability for that type of engine under that load stress (especially if you tow anything) is concerning.
CaptainDawg02 I dropped Palisade for 2 reasons, the no folding mirrors and the dial tranny thing, hate not having stick, waiting for the 2021 Telluride to see if they’ve addressed the GDI valve problem.
Its not under powered at all. It shits and gets when you nail It. And it will smoke the tire with no problem.
Just to clarify for future readers. The Palisade's shifter is a button type selector the dial is the terrain mode selector. The dial doesn't matter since 95% of you are going to leave it smart or comfort mode anyway.
Great video. How far the mid row captain chairs recline? I'd like to know if it is comfortable for road trips. TIA.
bolonysandwich We’ve driven ours about 1500 miles took a 700 mile trip and the Palisade is amazing. The safety and convenience features make the drive much more relaxing along with how quiet and comfortable it is.
I agree. I want the inside of the palisade
and the outside of the telluride. That would be a Great car.
Kia looks dopey
Ill stick to my 2017 GMC Acadia I get 22-24 around town Best mileage on highway is 37.5 !!! For a V6 engine with over 300 HP !!!!
Got my hyper white about a week ago. I like it..many in ohio dont even know what it is. Lol. I enjoy it other than the fact that the wipers just go off randomly when its dry, and i noticed air coming through the sunroof pretty bad when it was closed.
Hyundai is now offering free maintenance on new models 3yr/36kmiles. Includes oil changes and tire rotation, free.
Hi Nolan, per Car and Driver: "A large amount of wind noise penetrates the doors"
Did you experience this?
Cx-9
Enclave
Pilot
Highlander
Palisade
Explorer
Tellaride
And which of the choices is overall best bang for the buck?
Thank you so much!! This review really helped me with my decision
Glad to hear it, thanks!
Got to say, there is no reason I would ever buy a 2WD version of this vehicle. That to me is a waste of time & it was said it should be GENESIS. I now know why it is not....The GENESIS is in the pipeline! OOOOH! The HTRAC AWD is phenomenal!
My dad just bought one and secretly put it on sports mode. Hehehe
My dad too 😁
@@DanielGonzalez-og7ok hahaha lamooo
Good video, I enjoyed your liles and dislikes, although I disagree on the fact that I love the no middle seat in the back , and I love the stylish overall way above the Kia brother, and when you put it on a side by side comparison with Lexus and explorer that's all I needed to here, this by far is my next acquisition. !!!
Glad you mention pro/cons unlike some that only do pro
My wife just bought a Palisade this week, the transmission (so far) is smooth as butter.
Is it economical? And whats the cost of yearly maintenance?
I own a Palisade SEL fwd with convenience pkg, and when using the smart cruise control, I was getting a trip computer indicated 32mpg. I was pleasantly surprised. This was while in the smart drive mode.
A FWD Palisade? Why?🤔
@@JulezWinnfield
Lighter weight, better fuel efficiency, and less maintenance required. Fwd does just fine in the mild winters we get here in Knoxville.
Dang this seems like a really nice car might actually get it after all it is Tokyo family in miles that is
Very disappointed that the Limited does not have power folding mirrors, as the Telluride does.
Great point! I thought that was odd
yea it's weird. also the palisade has power folding 3 row seats while the telluride does not. lol
I watched both videos palisade and telluride and i would go with the KIA for sure.
Lack of turbo is a concern..love the interior look. Awaiting test drive especially seats, pickup and handling in curves at higher speeds
That RWD V8 combo would be fantastic. No kidding with the value too, they kill it there. Thank you as always Lance!
^ definitely agree on the small displacement v8 in the Palisade, like their 5.0 trimmed to 4.5.
Please comment on what the issues for direct injection vs port injection might be.
