I LOVE the Palisade and Telluride.
    Telluride wins for exterior.
    Palisade wins for interior.
Overall, I'd probably get the Palisade.
BTW, those turn signal cameras on the digital dash are EPIC. I LOVE THAT feature.

agree. More executive exterior on Telluride, more executive interior in Palisade

Very solid review. While I was really skeptical about Palisade's exterior design at first, it did look really good in this color configuration. That silver color really works great with that huge chrome grill up front. Nonetheless, I still prefer the rugged looks of Telluride. I think with a bit longer suspension springs (about an inch or two clearance) and all-terrain tires that obstacle course will be a breeze for that all-wheel drive system. It still did good for what it is. And 99% of Palisade owners will probably never take their Palisades through that kind of course. Keep up the good work! 👍

we picked the Palisade over the Telluride earlier this summer. 4 months and 8400 miles and still love it. just did a 5 1/2 hr each way road trip and had 25mpg at 75-80mph.

@@stephenpowstinger733 we liked the looks of it over the Telluride, and the Interior is also nicer in our oppionion. but over all it's a damn good value for the money, and fit the size we needed. plus previous good experience from a 12' Sonata that needed nothing other then basic maintenance in 117k mi.

Great Review! We are just over a year with our 2020 limited. You get A LOT for the money. Interior is beautiful, love the exterior design, tons of room in the third row, the ride is great and does great in the snow. There are features we still are finding out about, example you can raise and lower the 3rd row from the infotainment screen. A few complaints: I wish the heated seats would come on when using auto start or we just aren't doing it right. The car seat latches are hard for kids to use in a car seat or booster as it falls into the seat crack. In our house, we are split in the gear selector. I thought I would come around on it, but still not a fan. I wish we had folding mirrors like the Telluride, we drove both and didn't realize it wasn't a feature until after we bought it. Wish list item, I wish it had duel exhaust tips on both sides to clean up the look in the back. Other than that, wonderful car.

This Palisade and it's Kia sibling (Telluride) are not only beautiful, they beat every other midsize three row SUV on the market on Consumer Reports and pretty much every review out there. ON top of that Genesis/Hyundai/Kia continue to come in 1/2/3 on JD Power's Initial Quality Study. Then there is a cliff to #4.

Hayandai had hill decent assist and Kia doesn't. 4x4 low gearing or downhill decent assist has saved my life endless times going down steep icey and snowy mountain roads. An awd is worthless without it unless you just plan on going up or on fiat but never going down. It's a shame because telluride is so cool looking... but that's a big time deal breaker.

This SUV is gorgeous inside and outside IMO. I really don't even need a new vehicle but I'm really thinking of buying 1. I retired from Chrysler so I always buy Chrysler's to support the company that pays my pension. I do love the (Chrysler) Jeep Grand Cherokee but I can't get what this vehicle has in a Grand Cherokee for $50,000 with a 10 year warranty so I might have to cheat on Chrysler, lol. The Calligraphy is the best deal out there for what you get for your money IMO. I have a beautiful loaded 300C that I don't drive in the winter and an older Grand Cherokee that is my winter vehicle. I could sell both and get the best of both vehicles rolled up into a Calligraphy. I never thought I'd be saying that $50,000 is cheap for a vehicle. That's more than my first house cost back in the day, lol.

No, that's bullshit. Check out the AWD modes they have for Korean and Canadian model. They got Mud, Sand, rock modes while they only give US the fake "Locking center diff" and a snow mode. And same thing for KIA. The Candian Telluride also gets more modes than the US version. I don't know why both Kia and Hyundai gave the US a lower spec AWD. Do they really think Americans are that stupid to not notice this? We are not north Korea, we got internet.

@John It’s not like Ford specifically makes vehicles for police use and have deals in place for police departments to be able to buy Ford products in fleets which other manufacturers such as GM and FCA simply don’t offer. Police don’t buy Fords because they’re reliable, they buy them because they’re cheaper for departments to buy. I used to have a friend who worked at our local Ford dealer and he said there was always at least one Police Intercepter Explorer in for something that broke.

With the $5,000-$10,000 "Market Adjustment" Kia is charging for the privilege of buying a Telluride, it's definitely a no brainer for almost an identical vehicle. That's why I'm buying a Palisade Limited tomorrow, for real! Hyundai's electronic gauge cluster and extra bells and whistles make for more creature comforts for us old guys. Since neither one is a serious off-roader and both have just about the same driving capabilities, again it's a no brainer. I suppose when Kia finally gets the message, they will stop ripping their buyers off and leaving a "bad taste" in their customers' mouths and wallets! I mean, seriously? Paying $10,000 extra just because they can't (or won't) make them fast enough!

We actually have one. They don’t measure pedal down, they only detect movement (so it’s not really 0 to 60, it’s 1 to 60). Our test as it is measures how long it takes for the transmission to transmit power in addition to the actual movement. It may not be scientific, but it does produce information that is different than official numbers - which are readily available in many cases already. Is it the best way to do it? That can certainly be debated, and we might change our mind in he future.

The Palisade starts at $31,550 versus the Land Cruiser starts at $85,315. That's a huge gap between the two and comparing them for the same reason is unfair. Personally, I think that the Palisade offers the best bang for your buck and I do love the turn signal cameras.

Here in Canada we don't have the AWD lock button, instead we get 2 more terrain modes (sand and mud) in addition of the Snow mode. Any intelligent reason for that difference?

I have watched a ton of Palisade and Telluride videos - your commentary/content is excellent and your video editing is professional standard. I can’t imagine how much work it is to get the tripod out, positioned, keep the vehicle in the shot, drive, review footage, retrieve tripod - you make it look easy and I’m sure it wasn’t!! Subscribed just based on that. Off to watch your Telluride segment.
PS Drove a Telluride yesterday and if I buy it or the Palisade, not sure how long I will continue to shoulder check even with blind spot assist. I saw you do it, too, so I feel like I’m in good company.

Does everyone think just because it says AWD that it’s worth a crap off-road!!!🙄
I have a Acura RDX AWD but......I know it would suck off-road ......unbelievable.......a palisade or tell-a-tubby is not going to do any better than my Acura....🙄

I have owned both brands and am currently a owner of a Kia sorento and love it, so I would have to say I would definitely choose the Telluride. Some of the other reviewers I have seen show the third row it the Kia is slightly bigger (not by much) but with three kids and one of which is a 12 yr old boy that is already over 5 feet tall and still growing. It is nice to know that he would have plenty of room on long trips.

After what I felt was a very thorough period of research my wife and I purchased the Hyundai Palisade (Canadian) Ultimate (fully loaded), agree with much of your comments in your review... we are very pleased with our decision after 6 months of ownership...I am now since we've experienced snow conditions here in Ontario...the ABS braking system is not as quick a pulsing system compared to some of my previously owned vehicles, it's been a little scary a couple of times when my stopping distance was way more than I anticipated. If you have any comments in regards to their system it would be much appreciated.
I've owned many various types of vehicles in my 51 years of driving and I must say I'm very impressed with Hyundai's effort...considering this is the first year for this model...I'm hopeful they take feed back and make a few upgrades...i.e. better power seat for front seat passenger and a little more range of adjustment for the drivers seat (front lift). We did first decide on the Telluride, however changed our mind after driving both top end models...power third row seats, interior and exterior design, auto hi beam just to name a few different features.
    Loved your review....good job!

Can you please say honestly how Hyundai Palisade v6 gdi engine is? Is this very good quality v6 engine? Will this engine run 500k to 600k km? I want to know because I have a confusion to choose from Hyundai Palisade V6, Volkswagen Atlas sel V6, and Honda Pilot Elite V6, please give me the right information because I want to choose a V6 car which will run perfectly 500k to 600k km without any big issues.

That vehicle performed very poorly “off road” in my opinion, on a trail that appears to be doable in a Corolla.
Granted, not designed for this type of use. But in the old days, all SUVs of this size would effortlessly handle this trail.

I think these modern SUVs has moved away from the rugged solid axles of the older generations. Think about the early 90s cherokee, land cruiser , g wagen. I'm willing to bet 90% of current gen suvs would go near any kind of dirt, almost all of them would be driven by soccer mums and shopping runs. So i would say current suvs are more about comfort and luxury than the off-road ability. How times have changed.

Korea done well in a short time period. From 1988. Japan 1979 somewhere. German sponsored their car to make better. Korea didn't and done well. Now Hyundai is with German like what Japan do.
