Amazing videos. This made me think of a ship for you. The Delta Flighter from ST:Voyager. As I recall there were two of them; the first being destroyed. Lt. Paris adding custom scifi flight controls. And it being able to successfully navigate slipstream.
They were plenty advanced, these were just built without hyperdrives. Hyperdrives are heavy. They'd slow these things down considerably. That's literally the exact point of ditching the hyperdrive before combat and having half an astromech. An A-Wing is essentially one of these *with* a hyperdrive. Notice how much slower and less maneuverable they are.... Don't forget the Falcon was built at this time and is *still* the fastest ship in the galaxy. One of these would runs circles around even Poe's X-Wing. Don't confuse yourself. = )
@ddam1320 the only reason the benefits outweighed the costs is because even Wedge can't fly like a Jedi. If the "fastest" you can fly a star fighter without killing yourself or being useless is STILL slower than adding armor, shields, a full astromech, and a hyperdrive you lose literally nothing. A Jedi would be significantly worse in an x-wing.... that's it, and that's the POINT of these things. Jedi reflexes make all the difference in the world.
I think my favorite thing about star wars craft is how we as a community have made these huge stories about something George Lucas in a meeting probably went "yeah that thing looks cool!" while chewing a donut 😂
First time I saw this ship it was a picture of its LEGO version and my reaction was something along the lines: "Wow, it looks so dumb with that astromech sticking out on the side". Then I saw the movie and Delta 7 has since been my favorite starfighter in Star Wars (next to classic T-65 X-Wing).
Well it kinda was it minimized survivablity in favor of speed, like a TIE, with an average pilot it's a death trap, but with a jedi pilot and his enhanced relfexed he can fully take advantage of the delta 7's speed.
Love the Delta-7, one of my top 5 mass produced favorites, though I will never understand the logic of the hyperdrive rings. Most of them didn't even have a slower back-up hyperdrive in case the rings got blown up, which did happen on a few occasions. Thankfully that didn't become a regular plot device like Star Trek's shuttle crashes, but still.

@@GottHammer I believe that's the creed of the so-called Grey Jedi. It's certainly the best of three creeds, as it acknowledges the existence of everything the Jedi Order denied.
@@GottHammer From what I know and believe, the Jedi try to avoid passions and follow a path without connections, they become arrogant and isolated from the Galaxy, to the point where they start to fight wars instead of preventing them. About the sith that follow their passions, objectives in life, while they use the force (dark side manner) they are consumed by need of power to achieve their goals to the point where they loose all emotion and passion and they become something far different from what they were.
E:D ships are super cool, but I think they're hard to do Spacedock videos for because of the massive variety in potential loadouts thanks to how Elite's ship equipment system works.
This is the best starfighter aside from the ARC-170. Never really took to the Ecta class though, what's the plexiglass bubble with wings got over the knife fighter?
It took me until just now to notice that the Delta 7 may be a descendant of the original idea to have the Star Destroyer be a small fighter craft rather than a space battleship
I always like the links to other ships, as if they were obvious when you think about it. for this one it was the how the design evolved into the ISD, that was very much an Oh Yeah moment for me
One thing I never got about the astromechs is how are they meant to do inflight repairs on most of the ships important systems when they are essentially bolted to a single poorly selected location on the space frame unable to reach most of the ship (while also being in an exposed position and thus vulnerable to being destroyed by a single shot)
I see the Old Republic Jedi Code and raise it the original Jedi Code from their origins on Tython: There is no ignorance There is knowledge There is no fear There is power I am the heart of the force I am the revealing fire of light I am the mystery of darkness In balance with chaos and harmony Immortal in the force.
The original 3.75 figure toy had three different configurations. The button in back would release the wing fins, smaller than those of the Eta-2. It could also unlock the fronts, revealing 6 laser cannons in each wing. The Delta-7B toys went a different route and had the nose separate into a remote drone, revealing a Delta that looked very much like the Eta.
Hey, quick question. Do you only look at ships from movies/tv shows? There's a game called Elite Dangerous that has some interesting ship designs, and it'd be cool to have someone take an in-depth look at them all.
It's always funny to me how the TIE fighters were preceded by the Jedi Star Fighters. They didn't have great armor or shields, because Jedi were basically one with their ships. They could use their insane flying skills to avoid fire. TIE fighter pilots, who were not Force Sensitive....oof
*now did it have laser cannons? Or blaster cannons* ????? There is a difference???? I still want to know the difference between this one and the ETA 2 Anakin upgraded his delta 7 with its own hyperdrive and heavy blaster cannons as well as one hell of a paint job
The two extra display modes sure helped the 3.75" vehicle line. That, and all the color variations. The hyper ring die cast are fetching a good price. The Eta-2 go even higher and are scaled the the Deltas.
I never saw the point in the 7B. Having a truncated offset Astromech kept the pilot’s field of vision clearer. It should be noted, at least in legends material, that Delta 7s were also used by clone pilots with R3-D units to help them target enemies.
I think the point was to allow more flexibility on ground missions, we often see jedi flying landing alone on a diplomat or recon mission and being able to bring there droid would help a lot then even if it made flying a bit more awquad.
Just finished the entire playlist. If you are still taking suggestions, I have two, although one may be difficult. The first is anything from the series Space: Above and Beyond. Particularly there is the Hammerhead fighter and the carrier that goes with it, and I believe there is a cargo/personnel hauler as well. I think that they would do well on your breakdowns. The more difficult one would be the ships of the Honor Harrington book series by David Weber. The reason why it may be more difficult is mainly due to the lack of visuals outside of book covers, although there are a few resources around.
The Rebel Alliance could remove the passenger seat and place a compact hyperdrive in the Delta-12. The ship would’ve cost under 85K and being made by Kuat there would’ve been plenty of replacement parts.
A fighter for the Jedi No armour, No advanced systems, No strong shields, No hyperdrive so has to rely on republic ships for system to system travel Palpatine " I'LL BUY THEM ALL! "
I've long questioned why an astromech would be mounted into a starfighter, when you could create a module specifically for that craft which would be lighter, cheaper and even far more effective. Sure I could see specific craft allowing the teansporting of an astromech, but large scale it didn't make much sense to me
They actually fulfill a ton of functions ranging from simple stuff like rerouting power to holding information on several hyperspace coordinates and performing rudimentary repairs that a module wouldn't be able to fulfill. Astromech do a lot of quick rewiring on the fly to keep certain internal systems from powering down that a module wouldn't be able to do. I think astromechs can even do a bit of welding.
Rhsims I understand that, but a module, or modules, could be built specifically for those tasks, without the added cost, size and complexity added by it needing it be mobile, and perform numerous tasks unrelated to operating, guiding and repairing the ship. The modules would be cheaper, lighter, smaller, could be made to be more effective/efficient and would be cheaper, not only because they would require far fewer parts, but also because you could mass produce identical units for each ship, and if fact would be made and assembled with the ship itself.
Okay, so hear me out - does the Delta 7b make sense? The major change is in the astromech slot, which goes….directly in front of the pilot’s view. What?!

I liked the external hyperspace ring. Makes you remember that for all the fancy aesthetics it's still less advanced than the Original Triology.

It's a cinematic from the game Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter. The background music is also from the game.
Excellent. Ore thing though. Why was all the footage from Star Wars backwards.
It helps dodge bots looking to automatically flag copyrighted footage, as they tend to mistake fair-use videos for illegally distributed footage.
