Shadows of the Empire was amazing when it came out. Loved this ship.
So happy that Rebels brought this ship into canon. Now to see if Dash Rendar will make an appearance hopefully.
I totally forgot this was in Rebels. A neat ship despite my usual dislike of asymmetrical layouts.

Is it just me, or does seem like a cross between a YT-1300 (Millennium Falcon) and a B-Wing.
I wonder if CC ever offered the ability for the cockpit to swing 90 degrees so the pilot could have the body vertical to them.
It's kind of a chunky, stocky YT-1300, seeing as both it and Dash Rendar are kind of like off-brand Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon.
@@bigred2989 It certainly could be done. The passageway to the main body would get blocked off, or need to be modified, but I like the idea.
@@bigred2989 the YT series were modular in Legends so probably.
There was also the Hasbro Outrigger that could had a rotating bit and could look even more like a B-Wing.
I still have this ship as a toy with a dash randar figure, its missing several parts from the years but its still a awesome toy.
I still have mine as well, but it should've been made larger. It's a freighter, there should be room to place more figures and cargo somewhere.
Ever since learning about this ship years ago in West End Game's Tramp Frieghters supplement for their Star Wars RPG, it's been my favorite. So much so, most of my smuggler characters in the games try to get ahold of one.
"Hi, I'm Dash Rendar. I'll be your Han Solo for this adventure..."
This is definitely one of my favorite ships in Star Wars.

YT 2000, best of the YT series hands down. So heavily shielded and armed stock that the Empire hated them lol.
Nice use of the SOTE soundtrack.
It's design with the escape pod mounted directly aft of the cockpit and being that separated from the main hull makes me think that the 2400 would be used for more hazardous cargoes than any other YT model I can think of...
My personal favorite from the YT series is the YT-2000. Yes, the YT-1300 is iconic because of the Millenium Falcon, but the off centre positioning of the cockpit would confuse me from a piloting perspective.
That comment about the YT2000 being discontinued hurts, I love that ship. X wing alliance was my first fighter game.

The Expanded Universe *was* the canon for years until deemed otherwise by a pair of insider numbskulls. NuStårWårs is in a very much more sparse and hollow galaxy because of that.
Don't insult "Legends" fans. We grew up with the original films and books.
Disney basically went JK Rowling on us.

I like the YT-2400 ship it is a neat design. However my favorite YT series freighters is the YT-1930 Freighter which as far as I know no youtube channel has ever done a video on
Its nice to have some concise lore for the ship my edge of the empire group chose as their home. Great video!
This ship helped me with ideas of my sci fi story ideas with the rough ones im designing called the A-V models. They are made by earth for commercial sales with other models being private conteacts for the starship military. They became possible with there adaptability and could be altered by any who bought them. In the galactic alliance they became polular for cargo and living quarters with many races saying humans can make cheap look good.

Now if your talking about tanks of liquids or gas, maybe not. Spacecraft storage capacity really needs to be in volume first, and mass listed for structural integrity purposes.
But a on isn't just a measurement of volume. A ton (and tonnes) can be a unit of weight: In the United States and Canada a ton is defined to be 2,000 pounds (907 kg). There are multiple definitions.
You can carry 300 tons of birds. You just need to keep half of them flying.

Personally, I think the YV-560 is the best looking of this general "falcon" like hull configuration from CEC. Never liked the offset cockpits, even in the Falcon.
Agreed. I understand the reason behind the offset cockpits, but I still don't like them.

I'm a little surprised he hasn't covered The Orville at all. Maybe he's given a reason for that in a video I haven't watched.

With the way YT ships plug together at the airlocks, I kinda want to see them lego together into a bunch of fun configurations.
The Corellian Super Star Destroyer: Looks like a single ship from a distance, but upon close inspection it's just millions of YT freighters plugged up to each other.

BTW, there's also the freight loading doors between the mandibles. With the YT-1300, at least. Might need some aftermarket adapter like Lando's 'escape pod' so we could have more than just side-by-side attachments.
*Sit back in the Mos Eisley Catina* Ya the YT-2400 is a great ship, legends have it some guy named Dash Rendar had one called the Outrider and the man could fly the ship like it was an extension of his own body. The legend goes he fought against the some guy from the Black Sun crime syndicate and even blew up the guys personal Skyhook, but those are just legends at this point... but I for one will never forget seeing some scruffy looking hardnosed guy walking about a customized YT-2400 talking about going to Hoth for some reason.

I would assume in a gunboat role it could upgrade to turbolasers using the ships cargo bay to hold the larger equipment needed.

I play From the Depths, and lately the YT series ships have been catching my attention. I've made a couple units that.... very roughly translate some of the design aspects of the YTs.
I remember the Outrider from The Empire Strikes Back on the N64. Didn't know anything about it, in fact I was a bit confused as to why in the Hoth mission the Falcon could be seen to fly out and then the player had to get to some other ship. Still the distinctive outboard cockpit does give it some personality. Though I would hate to have to maneuver one in a tight space... must feel a bit like driving those super dump trucks with the cab up on one side

Why does it look like the cabin has a right side orientation while in some photos it has a left side orientation-were they built left and right handed?
I was wondering the same thing. It kept making me go back and check whether the video is mirrored or Disney mirrored the ship.

since I saw this ship in the Shadow of the Empire comic, my only problem with it is that... there seems to be no space to get to the cockpit from the main body... it just seems too small, also seems like a YT-1300 coupe... not really a fan but as always AMAZING job!

My fav Star Wars ship...... but I’d need to upgrade her reactor hyperdrive and upgrade her weapons /shields
And I’d cut into some of the cargo space to increase the luxury of the living quarters

I would take this craft, but I would install a naboo hyperdrive since they are faster than the stock hyperdrive usually installed on all YT models.

I kinda hate the idea that the YT-1300 was a popular and successful model in-universe. I figured that the Millennium Falcon would've been a lackluster ship if not for its heavy modifications.

i never got this ship... the falcon is my favourite, because of the off-center cockpit.. but with the falcon and it's 'mandibles' it seemed to serve a function. and for the life of me i can't see the function of here on this ship's design, this one was form over function and was a poor attempt at making a new 'falcon-want-a-be' that being said, if you love this ship. go for it... starwars is full of designs to love.
I understand the reason for the offset cockpit of the YT-1300, but what is the reason for the offset cockpit on this one? I don't see any prongs for docking with containers.
Someone reaaallllly has to ahve a talk with the Star Wars people about what the hell a freighter is.
It is cool, though. I can't fault it for style.
