Replacing aircraft makes sense , remember ww2 how many allied aircraft versions like British had 7 spitfire types , supermarine , harker hurricanes , American had Lockheed , Boeing ,and both had other aircraft types it was a very research and development heavy conflict yet it did last much longer than the clone wars
I have a doubt, the capital ships will continue to grow after the sequels? The Nebulon-C had more than 500 meters and the old Nebulon-B had 300 meters, The MC85 had 3.4 km and the old MC80 had 1.2 km. do you believe that in the future of canon the capital ships will become even bigger?
I dont like this overly much. Making the ships larger will make captial ships even less manuverable than they are now (Comeing from someone that plays Star Wars RTS games). Making a ship bigger doesn't make it cooler......
The V-Wing was actually my very first lego starwars set when I was maybe 5 or 6 years old and Episode III was premiering. It holds a special place in my childhood.
As a kid, my brothers had a V-Wing lego set, so it will always be special to me, more so than the ARC-170 and LAAT gunship (which are also both candy to my eyes)
The V-wing in my opinion is one of the best if not the best interceptors we've seen in star wars. They were very well balanced with offense and defense. And their speed was almost unmatched. Beautiful fighter.
I think one of the most overlooked aspects of the Star Wars timeline is that they have had hyperspace capability for approx. 25 millennia. My point being that the technology level reached a point where the progress moves at a snails pace. I get that every new movie needs new ships and we, as a short lived race continue to 'make new things' just for the sake of making new things. In the SW universe though we seem to get a continuous stream of new ships without pondering the 'why' of it or maybe the logic of it. I think it would be relatively common to see ships that have been around for several hundred years because the technology, based on what is in most of the timelines, has plateaued. The same with blaster tech, lightsaber contruction, power cells, etc. I find it immense enjoyment in pondering these things in my favorite universe. Also, consider the implication of tech advances in regards to social media and video storage. Would it be so rare to find videos from say 4000 years before in an archive? Considering the level of tech in this universe and that it has hit a plateau.... just some things to have fun pondering.
I personally like the theory that Star Wars technology only improves during times of war. When mass resources are pulled to push the technological limit. In times of peace, tech stagnates cause there is no need or little incentive to do so. Just a theory.
There are actually a few ships that have been around for an incredible amount of time, such as the dreadnought class heavy cruiser and invincible class cruiser.
The v-wing is one of the ships i flew the most in the original battlefront 2 and i wish we had seen them more. They did appear in the victory and death episode of the clone wars.
@@geetslys The B-29 was a long range bomber, though, plus it had some engineering problems, just like the E-Wing; it's also famous or infamous because of what happened in August 1945...
I really like how they were used during the Bad Batch. There shape reminded me of TIE Fighters since at this point the Republic had become the Empire but they were still using Republic weaponry. While the Arc-170 Strafighter was reminiscent of an X Wings, reminding us that the Republic were the good guys, the V-Wing is showed to be used during the Bad Batch, basically showing us the predecessor to the TIE Figher.
it also has been used by the empire for about the fist then years. in 14 bby, the Grand Moff Tarkin's TIE fighter project started being produced and used not as a prototype anymore. (Star Wars: Tarkin by James Luceno)
I swear I remember seeing a V-Wing in the background of the lower hanger in the last episode of Clone Wars Season 7. But even Wookipeadia doesn't mention it so maybe I'm wrong.
3:55 => this is what I was looking for, I just had a moment of "Why does it has wings ? it just looks like more area to get hit." now I've got my answer, though I believe they could have been oriented differently while keeping the efficiency and reducing the targetable suface from side..
Honestly, I agree that the V-wing is one of the more underrated star fighters in science fiction, especially since it's design could be used in both Newtonian, and space naval fights! I honestly wish that we saw at least a prototype in Clone Wars being used.
This may be the most underrated starfighter in Star Wars but I freaking love it design is cool battlefront two is also part of it the ship is interesting and really epic
I'd classify the V-19 and Z-95 as you're standard Starfighter, like the X-wing, and the ARC-170 as a Heavy Fighter, like the B-wing, V-wing is and interceptor like the A-wing. I like to think the Republic tried the first 2 as a standard fighter with the ARC-170 introduced later for special missions. But as the war dragged on the number of pilots kept getting less. and so to best counter the vast number of droid fighters the ARC-170 was put to the front as the new base Starfighter. Better to have a more specialized military if you can't win through sheer numbers. Meanwhile the V-wing was put in as a back up Starfighter to work at taking out enemy fighters with it's specialized pilots and maneuverability. Basically they ARC-170 works as a sort of bomber and specialist fighter, the V-wings can focus more on intercepting and destroying enemies.
I like the Z95 Headhunter better than any of the X wing models. You only get two laser cannons on the wing ends but you have those missile pods under the wings, and still have the small bomb compartment in the belly just like the X. If it had added a small laser pointing to the rear for defense, a good hyperdrive and astomech droid socket it would have been a monster. I'm not a fan of the V wing since it's tiny size reduces it's armament. I mean it's faster and more maneuverable but you loose the use of missles it can't hold more than one or two bombs being that small. It forces you into only a ship to ship dog fighting at close range with lasers. Being able to use missles would be far safer for pilots. I guess vulture droids were so fast they could dodge missles. It also eliminates possible use as ground support with it's arms limits. The hyperdrive ring issue sucks too.
The best part of the z-95 is its upgrade ability. Pretty sure a couple z-95 fans have retrofitted theirs to have hyperdrives and astromech ports. Like Jaden Korr in Jedi Academy had a custom z-95 with a hyperdrive.
@@-CrimsoN- yes I forgot about the Jedi Academy series. He did indeed have an astromech slot and hyperdrive. But yes the Z-95 is my favorite because of manoverability, smallish siluete, functionality, ability to up grade and more. It looks fast just sitting still. The X Wing does as well but is a bit bigger in every dimension which does not bring as great of a better punch as it should. For the larger size, split wings and 4 cannons instead of 2 the X Wing does not gain as much as I feel it should. The generation evolution we see in Force Awakens, Last Jedi and Skywalker of the X Wing gets smaller and goes back to the Z-95 design basics.
There was also no Homing spider droids, hailfire droids, hard cell transports, corporate alliance tank droids, commerce guild transports and SPHA-Ts in the clone wars series.
Hey Geetsly's, when are we getting a video on Geode? I think he's a really rock solid addition to the franchise. There's a mountain of lore to get through.
In the original Battlefront 2 they served as bombers, they were a bit slower but they were still fantastic at dogfighting and could rip through an enemy fleet within minutes. All time favorite Republic start-fighter.
I'd love to know more about the Star fighters used by the Corpate sector authority. And why they did not use Vulture droids since they used allot of other Speratist technologies in the Picket Fleet
I really like V-Wings and ARC-170s. I think a big reason for my liking of V-Wings is that I got a Lego set of it. But thinking about it and that it inspired two subsequent craft, it makes me think of the significance of this. It shows that the Republic was both the Empire and the Rebellion in some ways, and that each took parts of it to become what they were. It's interesting to see that kind of symbolism in a ship, and I wonder how much of that is intentional and at what level it was.
My first experience with the V wing was flying it as a bomber in the old battlefront 2. Despite it being officially an interceptor, it remains my absolute favorite star wars fighter.
I absolutely loved the v wings (interceptors) they honestly should make appearances as top class ships, either for bounty hunters, handydowns or completely remodeled and upgraded
Anyone got an idea where that Venator with dorsal beam cannon video comes from? It is used in this video and I have seen it elsewhere but I don't remember it from clone wars show. (Clip in 4:22)
The clip is from EA Battlefront 2. If the Republic gets a victory on Kamino, the Venator will fire the SPHA-T cannon at the Seperatist capital ship. I don't remember what gametype you see this in, but I do know that it's both ground and air fighting.
In Revenge of the Sith opening battle there is a venator-class that fires a one shot kill beam and destroys a separatist frigate. In Legends Anakin had a spha-t strapped to the underside hanger bay as an additional weapon. But in the canon video game Battlefront 2 (The clip in this video) you see a venator superlaser coming from a special laser beam emitter.
I’m surprised you see more people in books and stories using Z-95’s and never hear about anyone using a V-Wing. Later V-wings we’re fit with hyperdrives.
I've always thought the V-wing were the best of both worlds of the Tie Interceptor and A-wing.

It shouldn’t have been used at all, it was far too bulky and losing one meant losing three men, in the long run the ARC-170 was not a very economical craft and if the war dragged on the republic would suffer from extended losses on fighters that just aren’t that good
@@senatorluxbonteri6065 It's not that bad. It was a jack of all stats.
Seems to me, with the 3-person crew and tail-gunner, the ARC-170 should have been a more capable fighter, similar to the Ghost. But they didn't show it that way.
@@jedironin380 I think the implications are that it was already out-dated when the Clone Wars started, and was all but forced into service due to the total lack of something to do the job. Old technology that used to do the job, but newer advances render it all but obsolete.
Geetsly: *Discussing the V-Wing*
Me: “Whoever’s piloting that fighter in Battlefront II, stop flying through the damn arch.”
I love how the V-Wing's design is simultaneously reminiscent of the A-Wing and the TIE Fighter, almost symbolic of the Empire's rise from the Republic, yet the beliefs in less dictatorial power of the Rebellion
I know the V-wing because of the Lego sets. I love it because of that.
The V Wing is probably one of my favorite starfighters
The V-Wing is the SECOND-most underrated starship in all of science fiction.
I had an imperial V-Wing lego from back in the day. That thing was awesome.
finally someone who has done their research and knows how insanely good the V-Wing actually was
I started watching your history channels and I was like, that guy sounds familiar. Then your Geetsly channel popped back into my recommendations and I realized why.
Gottem.
I wish the Homing Spider Droid and the Hailfire Droid appeared in the show. They were iconic to the Separatist before the show even aired.
That would be cool :)
This is getting too much. If this continues, there will be a galaxy sized warship in the future.
I dont like this overly much. Making the ships larger will make captial ships even less manuverable than they are now (Comeing from someone that plays Star Wars RTS games). Making a ship bigger doesn't make it cooler......
Seeing as Disney is relying on the pickup truck method of making things cooler? Bigger but with as little improvement as possible
It's funny that in Battlefront 2 2005 these were bombers
They did appear in the victory and death episode of the clone wars.
and couples episodes of the bad batch

“You probably don’t know what the V-wing is”
Everyone who grew up with the Battlefront series: Brave, but foolish.
Yes, but did you know they were actually Interceptors instead of Bombers?
Yeah, my ROTS vehicle line, Titanium series, Battlegrounds, and Empire at War mods disagree.
I remember when my only exposure to the v-wing was the OG star wars battlefront 2 and it was a bomber class.
Man this is so much cooler
The K-Wing is the best A-10 sci-fi proxy.
The K-Wing seems more like a B-29 to me.
@@geetslys The B-29 was a long range bomber, though, plus it had some engineering problems, just like the E-Wing; it's also famous or infamous because of what happened in August 1945...
The N-1 Starfighter is immensely underrated in my opinion. I'd love to see a video on the N-1.
Its a pity we didnt see these beautiful starfighters in the clone wars tv series. Was expecting to see some of these aircrafts in S7 😣
0:48 glad to be a star wars reader and being familiar with them.
I love the arc 170s and the clone wars z95
Where my V-Wings at?
Here!
@@geetslys Thx for reply!!!

it also has been used by the empire for about the fist then years. in 14 bby, the Grand Moff Tarkin's TIE fighter project started being produced and used not as a prototype anymore.

How many years were they used for i think you made a spelling mistake?
@@DanBen07 is now better? Thabks for the advice pal
I swear I remember seeing a V-Wing in the background of the lower hanger in the last episode of Clone Wars Season 7. But even Wookipeadia doesn't mention it so maybe I'm wrong.
The V Wing was so much fun to fly in 2005s Battlefront 2
the aurek line is arguably the most successful line of fighters in history
Agreed. Never mess with the classics since 4000 BBY.
My first ever lego set was a imperial v-wing and they have been one of my favorite starfighters ever since.
The v wing is one of my favourite ships in Star Wars, like ever. I wish they had more exposure
I think it appeared in bad batch.
TIE Fighter and A-Wing: our ancestor :)
The V-Wing actually appeared in Victory and Death if you look close in the maintenance hanger you can see one under repair
True, but they weren't launched, sadly.
The V-wing has and will always be my favorite star fighter. No idea why.
Geetsly’s: You’re probably less familiar with the V-Wing
OG Battlefront players: You underestimate my power!
It isn't a bomber like in OG battlefront
Hope Squadrons or its sequel makes them available for flight sim combat.
In many ways, the V-Wing was a direct predecessor to the TIE fighter
And a better predecessor at that.
Accept better in every metric except speed
Actually it's the A Wing's direct predecessor.

V wing is faster then a tie fighter
3:55 => this is what I was looking for, I just had a moment of "Why does it has wings ? it just looks like more area to get hit." now I've got my answer, though I believe they could have been oriented differently while keeping the efficiency and reducing the targetable suface from side..

Honestly, I agree that the V-wing is one of the more underrated star fighters in science fiction, especially since it's design could be used in both Newtonian, and space naval fights! I honestly wish that we saw at least a prototype in Clone Wars being used.
I hope we will see this craft in Bad Batch
YES! Cannot wait until May 4th!
@@geetslys V-Wings are here.
Today I learned that the V-Wing was an interceptor, and not a Bomber like OG Battlefront 2 would have me believe.
2:43 for the V-Wing part of the video 🙂
6:00 it has a very obstructed field of view though?? The framing of the cockpit is obnoxiously thick
The tank droids were in the pilot movie
I was always a fan of the V-Wing because I got the Lego model of it when I was a kid and it was by far the coolest ship I owned.
I hope we see more of them in the Bad Batch
OG Battlefront 2: Its a bomber.
*you learn more about the V-Wing*
Meme quote: So that was a f*ing lie.
My favorite republic star fighter. Thanks giving it the respect it deserves.
It’s like a cross between an A-Wing and a Tie Fighter
That V-wing is awesome! I’d love to see them in Star Wars moving forward.
Why these bad girls are replaced by the TIE Fighter is just...overwhelmingly preposterous and inconceivable!
The idea of V-Wings pouring out of a Venator satisfies My OCD to an immeasurable extent.
My favorite starfighter probably ever. I'm still bitter that there's not much love for these unique and underused fighters
I remember when the original battlefront 2 used these as bombers
I absolutely loved the v wings (interceptors) they honestly should make appearances as top class ships, either for bounty hunters, handydowns or completely remodeled and upgraded
The space battle over Coruscant in ep III still takes my breath after all these years
i loved this on the og BF2, the concussion cannons were a beast
Always loved the V-wing. Favorite fighter
Anyone got an idea where that Venator with dorsal beam cannon video comes from? It is used in this video and I have seen it elsewhere but I don't remember it from clone wars show.
(Clip in 4:22)
If I remember correctly it wasn't a dorsal cannon, but and AT-TE that was mag locked to the underside of the Venator.
@@whgerken Yeah normally it is the explanation. The clip shown in this video has an actual dorsal cannon though.
I just remember flying one in the old Battlefront 2 game.
Underrated star fighter
Great vid Geetsly's! Always wondered why the V-Wings gets so little fanfare.
Well the v wings were still in operation 5 years after the clone wars in Tarkin novel but your probably well aware
The v wing was my favorite ship to use in the og battlefront 2. It was so fun to fly and use lol
I’m surprised you see more people in books and stories using Z-95’s and never hear about anyone using a V-Wing. Later V-wings we’re fit with hyperdrives.
The V-19 Torrent always reminded me of Starcraft's Terran Wraith.
