Loved the customer reaction. Matte is tricky, you've got to be committed to maintaining the look and be vigilant to bird droppings, or buy a gloss finish paint and cover it with matte finish PPF to get the same look but with less stress. If anyone knows of a Dr. Beasley's stockist here in the UK I'd be grateful if someone could comment below. 🙌

Hi Pan. My Dad just bought a 2024 Genesis GV70 2.5T AWD with the Brunswick Green Matte paint. It looks amazing but as a Detail enthusiast I’m trying to learn as much as possible about matte paint care to help. This video is wonderful and full of great recommendations. Thank you once again!
The combined kit does look nice however from my experience it’s only marginally more expensive to get the matte EVO light and then the 400ml cure matte separately which then gives you a lot more product to maintain it with.

This is a bit more tricky as you can't polish matte paint. So you will have to wait until the end of the coating's lifespan, and restart the same procedures as in this video.

Another great video, Pan 👍👍 Having a Frozen Arctic Grey BMW M5, I'm using Gyeon Bathe as a shampoo but just before this is spray foam the car with Gyeon Foam to remove all debris. For an easy maintenance, I use Gyeon Bathe+ un a foam gun that I rince immediately and after drying the body with a leaf blower I just go around the paint job with Gyeon Cure Matte. The results are amazing and make the maintenance so easy... Cheers from Europe!

What happens if you get a high spot after the coating has fully cured since you can't polish? I know if you are within the first few hours, you can apply another layer of ceramic coating to reactivate and level. However, if its cured are you screwed?
Anyone that wants a 'matte' finish IMHO needs to learn to do the maintenance themselves or hire a detailer coached in these finishes. All great and I especially like the dedicated products from Dr. B's for Matte finishes. Great video and all the tips!
Keep a bucket with warm water and a ride free and clear detergent mixed inside. Once you’re done with your towel, toss it in the bucket. Once you’re done… hand wash the towels. Empty the bucket. Refill the bucket with clean water and hand wash again. Drain it and then you can toss the towels inside your normal washing machine. No need to throw them in the trash line Pan said.
I beg to differ. You can do as you please, but note that even when you think you washed the towels used to level ceramic coatings, there will still always be the potential of cured shards staying in the fibers and those could do some marring on the paint if reused. I wouldn't take that risk. Jon from Forensic Detailing Channel demonstrated this quite effectively in this video: ua-cam.com/video/3p6hWK8mpMs/v-deo.htmlsi=PrqKtX7W4ejM6tv1 If you want to keep the towels used to level and buff ceramic coatings, I would at least downgrade them for uses where there's no risk of damaging delicate surfaces. You could reuse them for engine bay detailing for example.
Mathieu, you are so right! I feel like an idiot lol. I got confused with the GT63 that has the twin turbo V8, but it seems the GT53 variant only has a 3.0L inline 6 cylinder turbo engine with EQ boost!! MB made this confusing... :(

Great video Pan, I have a lovely CLA45s AMG in the same matte colour that I feature on my channel. I had it ceramic coated with titan coatings vulcan at my professional detailer across the pond in England and a year later the coating has been amazing so far.
Have been waiting for this video for a long time!!! I have pretty much the same color as the car in this video and it's wonderful. One thing I didn't see in this video is: do you need to separate all your materials for a glossy car and the ones for your matte car? As far I know yes since the wax and all could potentially stay in your micro-fiber but I don't know if I'm too nuts!!! Again great video for us matte car owner!
If you wash your microfiber applicators and towel properly, no need to worry. Don't overthink the moment. There should be no wax residue that could gloss up the matte surface. 1. There are many different methods to wash a car. Some like rinsing first then foaming. Some like foaming on a dry vehicle, so the foam can cling better and not be further diluted by water. 2. For water spots on the hood, some have luck with using a bit of dishwashing liquid to create a soapy solution and add a bit of white vinegar in it. But assuming you have a matte paint coating on your matte paint, it's best that you use a product like this: bit.ly/3LXxCgc Wash the car first. Then, spray the product, let it dwell on the area for a little bit as opposed to wiping it up immediately. It’s okay to let Matte Paint Cleanser sit on the paint for a while as long as you don’t let it dry on the surface. Once the product spends a bit more time on the affected area it should have great success removing the problem. Whether it’s waterspots, overspray, dried on bird droppings, or sap, the answer is simple - let the product do the work for you. Being aggressive and scrubbing is not the answer when it comes to matte painted cars. If you haven't protected your matte paint yet, it's time to apply a matte paint coating. It makes cleaning the vehicle much easier, and protects the matte finish from things like water spots and bird droppings. Of course, regular washing of your car is a must to avoid those things damaging the coating.

Just asking if you could do some washing tutorial for cars that don't really need some hydrogobic properties and are more focused for dust and grimes( I live in LA so it doesn't rain at all). Like what equipment and products can we use to protect the car most importantly from dust and then grimes and well we all know what to do with oxidized iron particles we can skip that. Thanksss
My biggest question with this topic is how do you apply a new coating when the original coat finally fails? As you said you can’t Clay bar or Polish matte paint, which is what you’d normally recommend for regular paint
You would use a decon wash like CarPro Descale. Iron remover. IPA wipe the surface. And reapply a new fresh coating. There’s not much more you can do unfortunately. Do you have matte paint on your car?

I prefer using separate iron and tar removers. Only use tar removers on an "as needed" basis meaning when you see tar deposits. And only treat the affected areas. They are harsher chemicals compared to iron removers. But for someone who wants to save a bit of time and money, and who has both tar and iron contamination, Trix works well.

It got a matte paint job so gonna use these products and your tips to give it a coating and keep it nice looking. I have a request though. Is it possible you do a video on a IONIQ 5 (& EV6) Matte Paint or similar car. Where you got shiny parts on the body work together with matte parts. Would love to see that one. Been on the fence of starting this as a sidejob but looking to specialise in EV cars and or matte paint jobs. Since you see these cars more and more but a slip up on these paints could be a real disaster. You level the coating with the first towel, and do a final buff with a second towel. It’s the same procedure pretty much for all ceramic coatings. Watch my ceramic coating application tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/sqQYVjxFqK0/v-deo.html
PPF and vinyl wraps can be coated with the same coatings, and maintained the same way as PPF in general. To make sure, as there can be some different indications depending on your specific wrap brand, contact your wrap installer and ask them.

I don’t recommend doing anything like bug removal without a proper access to water and to wash the vehicle. Yes Cure Matte can be used as a maintenance product on the matte paint. That’s what it’s designed for.
OK, I officially have anxiety after watching this video 😆. I am looking to buy a Jaguar F-Type R75 in matte black finish. I plan to have PPF and ceramic coating for paint finishes installed professionally. What is the cleaning procedure for a matte finish car that already has PPF and ceramic coating applied? Is there a video that talks about that? Otherwise, this seems like a whole lot of work each time the car gets dirty. I don't have a controlled environment. What mods do you recommend for a regular car garage? Does it need to be kept at a constant temperature? It seems you perhaps did not watch the entire video carefully. The first part of the video is the application of the matte paint coating. All the wash, prep, and application steps. You would do that only once, when you take delivery of your car. That protection should last 1-2 years on average depending on conditions, mileage, maintenance, etc. After the protection is applied, wait 2 weeks before washing your car. And from then on, maintenance is super easy. You can wash your car as often as you want, using appropriate products for matte surfaces. It’s a very high end Kranzle 1122TST pressure washer. I set it to 1000 psi to wash cars. It outputs a stout 2.1 GPM of water and is built like a tank. To keep things simple: Consumer grade: Are easier to apply (DIY at home) Cost less Don't need special tools or equipment to be applied Can often be applied outside as long as you don't apply in direct sunlight Don't last as long (2 to 3 years is the average, although many claim longer durabilities nowadays) Are easier to remove if the vehicle needs to be repainted (a light polish is often enough to remove them) Professional grade: More difficult to apply Can only be purchased and applied by authorized installers (training needed from the brand you are using) Often need more specialized equipment like infrared curing lamps for example Cost a lot more More durability (4 to 6 years on average, again depending on which brand) Often need a more controlled environment to be applied (temperature, humidity, indoors, etc) Harder to remove if the vehicle needs to be repainted (they often need to be water sanded off) That's it in a nutshell. The Wheel Cleanser is more of a wheel cleaner, not really meant to clean tires. Retyre is one of the best tire cleaners, along with Shine Supply Wise Guy.

It depends on how severe or etched in the water spots are. Like anything, evaluate how long they have been there, were they baking in the hot sun, after washing the vehicle with a pH neutral shampoo, are they still there, etc. You need to assess. One of the first steps is to use a water spot remover made for coatings (assuming the matte paint was protected with a ceramic coating) like this: bit.ly/3QC2UsK After you're done rinsing, perhaps wash the vehicle again, dry it, and then apply a fresh coat of Gyeon Cure Matte to restore any diminished hydrophobics and boost the protection, or what ever compatible matte spray sealant you have.

I am hopeful you can help with a disaster I'm facing.
Few days ago, after an almost 2-year-long wait, I received my BMW M4CSL.
To my horror, there was water stains all over it and even worse yet, there was evidence of oil having been sprayed on the car. This has caused marring.
Can you please tell me how I can tackle this nightmare please?

Loved the customer reaction. Matte is tricky, you've got to be committed to maintaining the look and be vigilant to bird droppings, or buy a gloss finish paint and cover it with matte finish PPF to get the same look but with less stress. If anyone knows of a Dr. Beasley's stockist here in the UK I'd be grateful if someone could comment below. 🙌

Hi Pan. My Dad just bought a 2024 Genesis GV70 2.5T AWD with the Brunswick Green Matte paint. It looks amazing but as a Detail enthusiast I’m trying to learn as much as possible about matte paint care to help. This video is wonderful and full of great recommendations. Thank you once again!
The combined kit does look nice however from my experience it’s only marginally more expensive to get the matte EVO light and then the 400ml cure matte separately which then gives you a lot more product to maintain it with.
For sure someone that does a lot of matte vehicles is better off buying a bigger version of Cure Matte and the Matte EVO light boxes.

QUESTION: The time will come to remove this and reapply. How is it safely removed to add a new coating?
This is a bit more tricky as you can't polish matte paint. So you will have to wait until the end of the coating's lifespan, and restart the same procedures as in this video.

Having a Frozen Arctic Grey BMW M5, I'm using Gyeon Bathe as a shampoo but just before this is spray foam the car with Gyeon Foam to remove all debris.
For an easy maintenance, I use Gyeon Bathe+ un a foam gun that I rince immediately and after drying the body with a leaf blower I just go around the paint job with Gyeon Cure Matte.
The results are amazing and make the maintenance so easy... Cheers from Europe!

What happens if you get a high spot after the coating has fully cured since you can't polish? I know if you are within the first few hours, you can apply another layer of ceramic coating to reactivate and level. However, if its cured are you screwed?

Anyone that wants a 'matte' finish IMHO needs to learn to do the maintenance themselves or hire a detailer coached in these finishes. All great and I especially like the dedicated products from Dr. B's for Matte finishes. Great video and all the tips!

Keep a bucket with warm water and a ride free and clear detergent mixed inside. Once you’re done with your towel, toss it in the bucket. Once you’re done… hand wash the towels. Empty the bucket. Refill the bucket with clean water and hand wash again. Drain it and then you can toss the towels inside your normal washing machine. No need to throw them in the trash line Pan said.
I beg to differ. You can do as you please, but note that even when you think you washed the towels used to level ceramic coatings, there will still always be the potential of cured shards staying in the fibers and those could do some marring on the paint if reused. I wouldn't take that risk.

If you want to keep the towels used to level and buff ceramic coatings, I would at least downgrade them for uses where there's no risk of damaging delicate surfaces. You could reuse them for engine bay detailing for example.

Great video Pan, I have a lovely CLA45s AMG in the same matte colour that I feature on my channel. I had it ceramic coated with titan coatings vulcan at my professional detailer across the pond in England and a year later the coating has been amazing so far.

Have been waiting for this video for a long time!!! I have pretty much the same color as the car in this video and it's wonderful.
One thing I didn't see in this video is: do you need to separate all your materials for a glossy car and the ones for your matte car? As far I know yes since the wax and all could potentially stay in your micro-fiber but I don't know if I'm too nuts!!!

If you wash your microfiber applicators and towel properly, no need to worry. Don't overthink the moment. There should be no wax residue that could gloss up the matte surface.

2. How can I remove a white” water spot on my hood? The Carpro Foam and Geon doesn’t do any good for this ugly spot on my Frozen painted BMW

1. There are many different methods to wash a car. Some like rinsing first then foaming. Some like foaming on a dry vehicle, so the foam can cling better and not be further diluted by water.
2. For water spots on the hood, some have luck with using a bit of dishwashing liquid to create a soapy solution and add a bit of white vinegar in it. But assuming you have a matte paint coating on your matte paint, it's best that you use a product like this: bit.ly/3LXxCgc
Wash the car first. Then, spray the product, let it dwell on the area for a little bit as opposed to wiping it up immediately. It’s okay to let Matte Paint Cleanser sit on the paint for a while as long as you don’t let it dry on the surface. Once the product spends a bit more time on the affected area it should have great success removing the problem. Whether it’s waterspots, overspray, dried on bird droppings, or sap, the answer is simple - let the product do the work for you. Being aggressive and scrubbing is not the answer when it comes to matte painted cars.
If you haven't protected your matte paint yet, it's time to apply a matte paint coating. It makes cleaning the vehicle much easier, and protects the matte finish from things like water spots and bird droppings. Of course, regular washing of your car is a must to avoid those things damaging the coating.

You would use a regular paint coating on those.

My biggest question with this topic is how do you apply a new coating when the original coat finally fails? As you said you can’t Clay bar or Polish matte paint, which is what you’d normally recommend for regular paint
You would use a decon wash like CarPro Descale. Iron remover. IPA wipe the surface. And reapply a new fresh coating.
There’s not much more you can do unfortunately.

What do you think about CarPro TriX which is Iron and tar remover 2 in 1 ? Isnt better than using two different bottles?
I prefer using separate iron and tar removers. Only use tar removers on an "as needed" basis meaning when you see tar deposits. And only treat the affected areas. They are harsher chemicals compared to iron removers.
But for someone who wants to save a bit of time and money, and who has both tar and iron contamination, Trix works well.

I placed a deposit for a new Ioniq 5N and will be my first matte car, ill be ceramic coating it, my question is with the car having matte paint but also some gloss black trims on the bumpers etc is a seperate ceramic coating suitable for gloss paint required for all these areas or is matte evo suitable for all of it? I see alot of ceramic coating videos on matte cars but nobody mentions what needs to be done with the gloss areas.

It got a matte paint job so gonna use these products and your tips to give it a coating and keep it nice looking. I have a request though. Is it possible you do a video on a IONIQ 5 (& EV6) Matte Paint or similar car. Where you got shiny parts on the body work together with matte parts. Would love to see that one. Been on the fence of starting this as a sidejob but looking to specialise in EV cars and or matte paint jobs. Since you see these cars more and more but a slip up on these paints could be a real disaster. Avalon recommends buffing after the ceramic has been wiped off.
Is this a procedure you use?
You level the coating with the first towel, and do a final buff with a second towel. It’s the same procedure pretty much for all ceramic coatings.

Pan, is this process the same for vinyl Matte Wrap? Rather than paint? Do you have a vinyl wash video?
PPF and vinyl wraps can be coated with the same coatings, and maintained the same way as PPF in general. To make sure, as there can be some different indications depending on your specific wrap brand, contact your wrap installer and ask them.
Im pretty sure the Gt53 AMG has a 3 litre engine if im not mistaken not a 4 litre,but nice video as always.

On matte finishes you have to use matte coatings.
Very useful, just bought a matt grey car and have ordered these products for when it gets delivered. One question, can you use the sealant also on gloss parts? I have gloss grey parts on the mirrors and wheel arches and door pillars
I don't have the answer to that unfortunately. Gyeon only states 'matte sufrace' on their website and instructions. Perhaps send them an e-mail to get a definitive answer. Let me know if they respond.

I don’t recommend doing anything like bug removal without a proper access to water and to wash the vehicle.
Yes Cure Matte can be used as a maintenance product on the matte paint. That’s what it’s designed for.

OK, I officially have anxiety after watching this video 😆. I am looking to buy a Jaguar F-Type R75 in matte black finish. I plan to have PPF and ceramic coating for paint finishes installed professionally. What is the cleaning procedure for a matte finish car that already has PPF and ceramic coating applied? Is there a video that talks about that? Otherwise, this seems like a whole lot of work each time the car gets dirty. I don't have a controlled environment. What mods do you recommend for a regular car garage? Does it need to be kept at a constant temperature? Since I plan to wash my car on my driveway, can you recommend any environmentally friendly products? Thank you.
It seems you perhaps did not watch the entire video carefully. The first part of the video is the application of the matte paint coating. All the wash, prep, and application steps. You would do that only once, when you take delivery of your car. That protection should last 1-2 years on average depending on conditions, mileage, maintenance, etc.
After the protection is applied, wait 2 weeks before washing your car. And from then on, maintenance is super easy. You can wash your car as often as you want, using appropriate products for matte surfaces.

It’s a very high end Kranzle 1122TST pressure washer. I set it to 1000 psi to wash cars. It outputs a stout 2.1 GPM of water and is built like a tank.

What is the difference between consumer CERAMIC coating and professional ceramic coatings. Do explain
To keep things simple:
Consumer grade:
Are easier to apply (DIY at home)
Cost less
Don't need special tools or equipment to be applied
Can often be applied outside as long as you don't apply in direct sunlight
Don't last as long (2 to 3 years is the average, although many claim longer durabilities nowadays)
Are easier to remove if the vehicle needs to be repainted (a light polish is often enough to remove them)
Professional grade:
More difficult to apply
Can only be purchased and applied by authorized installers (training needed from the brand you are using)
Often need more specialized equipment like infrared curing lamps for example
Cost a lot more
More durability (4 to 6 years on average, again depending on which brand)
Often need a more controlled environment to be applied (temperature, humidity, indoors, etc)
Harder to remove if the vehicle needs to be repainted (they often need to be water sanded off)

or CarPro Retyre tire cleaner is always necessary

The Wheel Cleanser is more of a wheel cleaner, not really meant to clean tires. Retyre is one of the best tire cleaners, along with Shine Supply Wise Guy.

It depends on how severe or etched in the water spots are. Like anything, evaluate how long they have been there, were they baking in the hot sun, after washing the vehicle with a pH neutral shampoo, are they still there, etc. You need to assess.
One of the first steps is to use a water spot remover made for coatings (assuming the matte paint was protected with a ceramic coating) like this: bit.ly/3QC2UsK
After you're done rinsing, perhaps wash the vehicle again, dry it, and then apply a fresh coat of Gyeon Cure Matte to restore any diminished hydrophobics and boost the protection, or what ever compatible matte spray sealant you have.
