The start of this game's music reminds me of some of the Medieval Times music in Putt-Putt Travels Through Time. It was pretty interesting to discover a cool similarity in MindMaze after I recently played it on Windows XP Home Edition SP3.
This brings back so much memories. When I was a really young kid, my school told me to install Microsoft Encarta for class projects- But my parents accidentally went and got the one with Encarta Mind Maze. I spent HOURS and HOURS after school on this game cus it was so mysterious- none of my other friends had it- and it was so interestingly fun combined with the eerie atmosphere.
This used to scare me as a kid. Especially the VR tours where I once thought a jumpscare or entity was looking for me. Pair that with empty spaces and music, it becomes a frightening experience for silkworm me. Anyways, this slaps now.
I'll admit this was a little creepy because of the way it started. When I was 6 or 7 I was using Encarta late at night and I actually accidentally came across this. I never knew about Mindmaze in the two years I was using Encarta. And the premise of Mindmaze itself was a bit creepy and similar to my actual experience of finding it. So it freaked me out a bit. And yes, the Abu simble 3D tour was a nightmare fuel for me.
I empathize, I played this game when I was younger and had a bit of a phobia about jesters. Completing the game helped me to feel calmer about the whole idea of comedy.
It was the same for me as a kid. There were times that I was okay with it, but most of the time the mood this game creates spooks me. My curiosity for this game and thirst for knowledge would ultimately be overpowered by how creepy this was, and I could never play without having my older siblings with me. Even though I was aware I shouldn't be afraid of it and it shouldn't be scary at all, in the end I could never fight off that fear.
I listen to this now surrounded by candles in my living room, having just eaten the medieval dinner of potato stew and bread. Thus is the reality of South Africa in this, the year of our lord, 2023
Omg I spent so long searching for this! I played it (terribly) when I was 14 and could not remember the name of the game, all I knew was medieval themed..
LJ808 Yep, hearing it still sends me to another place. I had an amazing dream last year where I was in this medieval castle, with those cat-faced nurses from Doctor Who (who remind me of medieval nuns), and there was this door in the castle that I opened, which had a steep fall and this wind tunnel that felt like one could time travel through it, hah, and that music (or something very much like it) was playing when one opened the door... It was pretty cool!
I'm at my Grandpa's house and just found Encarta '96 lying around in his office and had to play it. For being made 16 years ago, this game is pretty fun still. I remember playing this game back in the day. Fun times.
You need DosBox to run many old softwares now days, it's a tool used to run such software from your existing computer, there IS a slight learning curve but it's not all that hard,.
@@chrissysonicutdrloz Absolutely, DOSBox emulates any old (or new) operating system you have in your posession, you just need to dedicate a X amount of HD space, ram space, and the OS. Imagine running windows 95 in a window you can then fullscreen, and install stuff onto (within the window), etc.
OMG! I just searched for it and I found it! Childhood memories rejuvenated😍 PS: I found similarity with the greensleeves piano version. Is there anyone who finds similarity with that? I am editing my comment almost after one year
Anyone remember there used to be games in encarta like travelling egypt , venturing into japanese buildings... I forgot the name , if anyone finds any video on them pls feel free to share
I miss it so much i go back and forward just to listen to this music again and again and again May be this is one the only few things i love about my childhood
I’ve been searching for this off and on for years. The game actually creeped my sister and I out. Could not remember where it was from but I remember hours of exploring and learning this program had
when I saw the clown, I screamed, my parents rushed to my bedroom, and I asked them to turn it off, since I hated clowns. When they left, I played this again. I was 5 that time. And this is the best game I have ever played
Muchiiiiiiisimaaaaaaaaaaaaaas gracias!! amo esto, nunca se me salio de la cabeza esta musica desde que era nino y jugaba a estos viajes virtuales en la Encarta (cuando no sabia lo que era internet).
There's an even more MIDI version of this game's music I remember but can't find. The piano in the Question music might as well have been a honky tonk!
omg i cant believe i found this XD memories :) we used to sit all and solve them and dad was the best in it :v my fav part of the whole theme also is 1:40 :))
chances are if you had this on your computer, you had a knowledge-enriched childhood
Well you're right, This was the best game I have ever played since I was 5
My childhood ❤️
Me.
Absolutely, and I think a lot more critical thinking than just being fed information
Perhaps... But I really only played it for the music and the characters' stories.
The fact that this is here makes me so happy
Encarta = the Wikipedia of the past
From 1993 to 2009. So it apparently had staying power.
Trip ni TJ yesss
That's an insult
Except Encarta had some authority and didnt contain bullshit. Also it contained Mind-Maze. So, Encarta>Wikipedia by an order of magnitude

Oh, Microsoft, we entreat thee! Remaketh thine work of Olde!
I was so dumb as a kid.. Insted of actually playing the game properly I would sit and jam this music
I think you were smarter than us all
@Ironclaw XII Same XD
No, I feel like that's the best thing to do with this game 😁
Me too 😂 i used to listen the theme music a lot. It is a really nostalgia of my past as a kid
this is a blast from the past! Also remember the stepping noises when getting an answer correct!
In the 1990s, this music was playing on a continuous loop in our house and I almost drove my wife crazy with it.
Anyone listening to this gem in 2020? I am definitely hit by the nostalgia with this one. This also reminds me of Fairy Tail now 😂
2021!
2022! 🤣🤣🤣
November of 2022!! ❤️😍
Greetings from Feb 2023!
I'll do the honours for 2024!

Ah that Middle Ages music. Also, the art style in this quiz game is just fantastic.
I cried its been at least 15 years and I remember it😭
Encarta Mind Maze was the original Backrooms

I miss playing this game. Part of me wants to find a computer that would allow me to load all of these old games.

Best game of that time..never forgoten this or the music.
any similar songs to the ones we used to listen here you could recommend? I've listened to playlists on yt, but they don't fill me like these ones do.
I would very much know who is the composer of this melody. Does anyone know?
Such an obscure little gem that it has only been found by intellectuals.. 0 dislikes!
🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️ best of the best
The nostalgia tho
Encarta 99! Oh god! How many times I failed to solve the maze or not getting the prize at the end! I love this game :D
The memories!!!!
You've just proved that time travel to the past is possible!
Good times, good times!
This, in a way, reminds me of Monty Python and The Holy Grail! Great movie.
This reminds me of simpler times , when the only problem in life was how to cross a level in a game and tests at school..
When Summoning was hard up for cash....
So warming
The nostalgia 😭😭
Nostalgia.
1:59 was my favorite part lol. Does anyone know if you can get an emulator for this?
Oh! Gracias! I Remember
When I was really young, my dad bought me encarta instead of videogames. Thank you dad, that was really based.

gahwd yes.
Zero dislikes. Mindmaze is nothing to fuck with.
90s nostalgia
The piano music was when you were being asked a question and played until you made it to the next room.
When Im 4 years old this music makes me scared it looks horror music
is encarta mindmaze also called encarta 95? or are they different versions?
Sounds like a Soundblaster 128 AudioPCI sound card.
Ugh, I LOVED this game. I wish there was some way to get it.
I want to play!
Wow thank u thank u!!!
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan
How can I play this for real on windows 7? I've tried downloading it but no luck.
Have you tried downloading Encarta 98 or just MindMaze by itself?
Encarta 98, surprisingly, should still run just fine on Windows 7.
HOLY BEGEEBES, this is nostalgic to a very great degree...
