    For the people who tend to stay away from welding, BDS makes a set of traction bars that don't require welding. Great video guys.

      Yea I remember when air driers became a thing for semi's and guys were welding brackets to there frames then later getting cracked frames. Something about metal embitterment from welding already heat treated steel frames.

    I made my own for my mega i used 3/4" hiems on both ends from ruffstuff. I used 2.5" black iron pipe. 10,000km so far and no issues and no squeaking. That iron pipe is tough shit

    How do you have your bars adjusted? I have mine loose to where on level ground I can grab them and rotate them back and forth with the heim joints and jam nuts tight but now i have what i think is clutch bucking? Wondering if i should tighten the bars up to where they cant move at all.

    How to do pre load the bars? is one end left handed threads so you can just turn the bar like a tie rod sleeve to adjust the load?

    Do you recommend traction bars for heavy hauling? I have a 2010 Cab and Chassis crew cab and I am worried about the pressure / axle rotation that the traction bars will put on the axle when 4-5 thousand pounds are placed on the bed of the truck. I also have airbags.

    • @jessename7849
      @jessename7849 6 років тому

      Traction bars would help but they can cause binding on your suspension especially with large amounts of suspension travel. If you keep it fairly close to the same ride height it would minimize any binding you do get though.
      It's a bit more costly but I'd do latter bars over traction bars. They keep the axle from rotating but don't bind up the suspension.
      The whole point of either traction or latter bars is to keep the axle from rotating. Which keeps the yoke in better alignment, keeps the axle from rotating which causes loading & unloading of the suspension which leads to wheel hop, & the rational force that is generated is transferred into better traction when set up correctly.

    Awesome video once again. If i lived closer to you, I would have offered to put down a stack of dimes for you.
    Also as a side note on the welding vs drilling holes. A faulty weld that may cause a creep-rupture aka microscopic crack will cause more damage than a drilled hole. Because the crack will continually grow from the stresses in the frame. In fact a drilling hole is round and therfore harder for the metal to shear. Any professorial fabricator will tell you to round corners of you are cutting a section of metal out.
    Hope this helps and keep up the amazing videos!

    Hey so im curious about a couple things. Is their any way it would rust between the bracket and frame rail? and the most important question I have is, from the heat from welding the brackets onto the diff, would that screw anything up inside? Thanks so much for making this video, I am going to be doing this to my truck very soon.

    The actual Caltrac traction bars are actually designed to not make the suspension bind thru a complete suspension cycle. As compared the ones installed in this video. However if it's going on a heavy duty pick up that never sees suspension squat I see nothing wrong with the ones Installed on this video.
