- Don and I decided to get out for a little bit today and really try to show you why traction bars are really a good idea to have on your truck. We wanted to be able to show how the axle moves without them and how the axle is way more controlled with them installed. OH and also forgot to mention i wanted to show you how much better a burnout could be with a set of traction bars.

Thank you very much for making this video!! I was on the fence about getting traction bars...I was leaning towards getting them, then some friends said don't waste your money...but this video, you could def see the difference! I was looking into HSP bars. 09' LMM here in CT 😎
Hell yeah man I'm glad I could help, they made a way bigger difference then i thought they would honestly just driving the truck normally you can tell it just feels solid, not like its making the suspension ridged or harder but there is just no weird bullshit going on in the rear of the truck. Its hard to explain but they are a must for me now.

Best video to show how much traction bars help! Did it get easier to burn rubber?
Yes and no, the truck wants to put the power down better and you can feel it take weight off of the nose but it will still spin the tires no problem and you don't have to worry about any hop.
Great vid thanks. Got a firepunk comp 1 trans with a triple disc and the shift to OD is scary harsh. They suggest getting traction bars to eliminate it. Hope it does

Ok this is a vary dumb question but I have a 96 Cummins and I have a decent amount of power adders to the truck but I can never get it to do a burn out without excessive amount of wheel hop and it’s also a dually so will trac bars get rid out that

Can you put traction bars on the front too
Not really as far as I know, keeping the front end from hopping is a whole different ball game that I need to figure out at some point.
@@Cargill450 thanks for taking the time and answering me the reason I was asking about the front suspension is because mine shakes terrible its hard to control it at higher speeds its a 2008 1500 megacab with a 3/4 frame I believe I just got it not realy sure I know it has 8 lug wheels
What kind of speeds? It could be a trac bar issue 🤔

I would first look into a loose track bar first, have someone move the steering wheel back and forth and check to see if the body moves left and right on the axle, if it doesn't have the tires rotated to see if it's a tire balance issue then go from there.

Back then they were 37x13.5 Toyo RTs on a 20x12 wheel
So dose this help get both tires to spin?
It could possibly but the main reason to add traction bars is to eliminate wheel hop.
Ok do you just need a bit of power to get both wheels to start spinning? Or do most of the heavy trucks come with limited slip diffs
@sammyvanede2447 it’s 50/50 if they came with a limited slip or not, mine had a factory limited slip and I blew it up so I installed an Eaton truetrac limited slip.
What traction bars fo you have and a build overview?
We built those Traction bars our selves and built them super tough, there are a few videos on my channel of us putting them together.

I'm not sure of the best brand to be honest, we built these ourselves but there are so many good brands out there to choose from it's hard to go wrong

Where did you get the front bars. I can’t find fronts anywhere.
The front kit is a tuff country long arm conversion.
@@Cargill450 what’s the benefit to running that kit.
The long arm kits ride alot smoother then the stock. In my small circle of friends here we have 5 lifted 3rd gens and they are all converted and all of the guys had the same reaction when the trucks were converted to long arm, its a night and day difference in the ride quality.
@@Cargill450 mines not that tall. Would that still make a difference. Also just trying to find badass aftermarket parts. I’m not big into dodge more Chevy guy but this is my first diesel and looking into making it more me.

Hopefully getting traction bars from my truck helps my situation I also have a lift kit on my vehicle and Driving on the highway I can see my bed literally bouncing hopping on the highway
Honestly I doubt you will lose the bed hop on the highway all the way but for a lifted truck these things are a must, you will be surprised by how big of an improvement they really make.

@@re9473 it could be a a few things really from the rear tires being a little out of balance to just the road itself. I notice personally that the longer the truck the worse it is.

Okay. Definitely sold. Is there a different way to achieve said result without traction bars? Maybe something shorter? I do not like the "look" you're talking about. I also spend a lot of time in the woods, so having things that stick out or hang down tend to get ripped off or catch things up, that rip other things off.
Also, is that the same reason for your long arms in the front. I don't care about burnouts, pulling, racing, or horsepower. I do daily drive, and have to pull logs, and or haul.
So the Traction bars are kind of a loaded topic, you could go shorter potentially but just keep in mind you can't go too short because it will start to create bind in itself. The long arms in the front changes things alot when it comes to ride quality too, those are night and day. I understand where your coming from with being in the woods, I spent the last 10 years working on logging crummies and equipment so believe me I understand not wanting alot of low hanging stuff on a truck.
@@Cargill450 Are there any worthwhile alternatives? I would really like to see what those 5500 leaf springs do to prevent that axle moving.
The 5500 springs actually did a decent job of keeping the rear axle in check but they weren't full proof either. For example really the black mega cab you see in some of the videos is a 3500 I believe with factory leafs and air bags, if he puts any kind of trailer behind it the truck squats pretty good, he definitely has to put air in the bags to get it happy again and im talking 20ft trailers. Now mine with the 5500 springs and NO air bags has been loaded pretty heavy with both a 25 and 30ft gooseneck between broken crummies and a sketchy amount of round bells and it maybe squats 2 to 3 inches, I have pictures empty and loaded if you have a way I could send them to you I would be happy to just to show you what I mean.

My truck sits right around 8 inches of lift but depending on what wheels you go with the black truck in the video is sitting at 6 inches with 37s.
@@Cargill450 thanks for the reply and info. Right now my truck is sitting on 35 12.5 20r . I bought the truck like that. Unfortunately I don't know what kind of lift is on it and drives like crap, barely clears 35s so I'm looking for the new lift and might as well get 37s
I think 37s just look right on these trucks, the one thing I would say is it might cost a little more but look into the long arm kits you really won't be disappointed by the ride on them.

I have a single cab 2500, I have recently put track bars on but it still hops really bad. Any ideas
How long are they and how are they mounted, were you able to put any preload into the bars?
@@Cargill450 they are 66” long welded on both ends and I have 2 full turns of preload pushing on the axle, tried 1 turn didn’t help so someone told me to do 1 more turn and still hops
66 should be plenty long enough 🤔 single cab I'm sure the truck is really light but still shouldn't hop too bad. What's the tire and wheel setup and pressure?
@@Cargill450 35x12.5 tires at 65 in the front 75 in the rear, but i just put my winters on today and it hops with them too
The rear might just be that still 🤷🏼♂️ either that or maybe the shocks aren't up to the task
I plan to get traction bars and kicker braces soon for my 2013 chevy on 7.5" rc lift.. I'm having lots of problems with tearing cv boots, even with the forged upper control arms! I'm wondering, if I were to connect my stearing to the frame like that, with kicker braces, and also traction bars soon after, would that make my cv boots tare faster?
Most of the time the cv boots tare because they are at too steep of an angle and it works the boots too much, atleast that's what I have found in the past.
Built a set of trac bars for my 05 just like yours an still get wheel hop bad any idea why
It could be a few things I would think, how long are they, what kind of ends did you use and did you add any preload to them?
Used Heim joints on both ends 60” long I didn’t put preload on them but I lefted the truck with the air bags an makes it worse
Tried airing the tires up an down as well
@@cody1293 try putting some preload in them, its hard to write out and explain but it I think I will make a video on the subject because its a good point but long story short add some preload and try it again. It sounds like things are pulling against each other rather then pushing like it should
I sure will try that, it’s crazy cause I put the camera up under there an can’t see the axle twist it just jumps up an down like a pogo stick
What side steps are those on the white truck
They are iron cross offroad steps
