I can confidently say that Joola's current manufacturer's PP honeycomb uses a softer material. This honeycomb raw material supplier supplies a lot of material to the market, so most brands will have this core breaking sound.

The Mod TA-15s (14mm and 16mm) are legal because they were the two BASE MODEL paddles submitted and approved by USAP. Therefore, Joola has the ability to manufacture and sell these paddles as long as nothing changes, including the graphics. That's why the paddles have the strange name Mod TA-15. The Mod paddles, upon subsequent detailed inspection (tear down, full span deflection test), clearly have a trampoline effect and are illegal. USAP, most likely, has notified Joola of the problem and placed this paddle into the 18 month "grace period" where Joola can choose to or not choose to correct the trampoline effect. The paddle will be delisted after the 18 month "grace period" expires if the trampoline problem is not fixed.
The other Gen 3 paddles were submitted under the SIMILARITY designation where USAP gets to examine again whether the paddles meet USAP standards. The other Gen 3s did not meet standards (grit, foam, deflection) and were not approved for sale with the USAP designation.

Another possible paddle to ban? I felt the PROTON Series Four paddle was NOT a power paddle, then all of a sudden something really strange started happening. Week two it seemed the sweet spot had actually diminished in size but the potency of my power drives and slams when nailing balls just above the last R where it says ROADRUNNER on the paddle went off the rails with destructive force and extreme power pop! Punchy, accurate slams that were so lightening fast, that I actually knocked a shoe off a player with a slam near the kitchen line, and he had sworn his shoe was tied! That was week two- By week three I had begun cracking balls nearly at a rate of 1 destroyed pickleball per every other game as well as dispatching gruesome welts and tattoo's on players standing as far away as the baseline. So much so, that even 5.0 players on the challenge courts will refuse to play against me unless they are wearing full protective gear OR that I am NOT using my Proton Series Four. By week three, this eerie, almost piercing bull whip sound started to become more pronounced when I would strike perfect sweet spot return drives, where I'd notice other players next court would even stop their games or gawk over at me. Kind of embarrassing actually. So for the time being, now on week four using it, I am mostly deferring to my brand new Joola 3S Perseus which barely hits the 60mph barrier on my friends radar gun app. I clocked the Proton at 73mph at least a few times while serving bullets nearer to the center line, but nothing any faster than that. The first week using it I didn't have the speed gun app but would estimate my serves at a very ho-hum 50-55mph. Yeah, not sure I want to return to the Proton just yet, the way it is sounding, but it DEFINATELY doesn't lack any pop after it opened up after a couple weeks, very similar to some of the Joola Mod ta-15s from what I've just read.

I think it's now obvious to everyone that when USAP delisted the Gen3 and Joola opened a lawsuit, USAP told them in secret "just release the same paddle under a different name and design with super tiny changes and we'll approve it" and Joola will magically drop the lawsuit or they will "settle" out of court

NO, these paddles were approved by USAP last year. It was the paddles that were submitted for "similarity" testing that were delisted. That remains the case as the lawsuit continues. But given that USAP approved this version of the paddle last year, Joola was free to market and sell it as "USAP Approved". Sorry your conspiracy theory is just factually wrong.

I played singles with someone with a Mod TA-15. Let's just say that I'm no longer playing singles. The speed of the shots while having an incredible ability to shape the ball makes it super difficult to have a rally that's more than 2 shots in singles. And since I can't afford a $300 paddle, I literally cannot compete in singles anymore. There are a heck of a lot of players where I play who bought the Joola, and I'm ok to play against that paddle in doubles.

It’s because the MOD-TA is literally the original approved paddle, meaning there is zero way they can ban it. That is why it has a weird name, no color, or big branding like their other paddles.
They said, oh, you wanna say the Gen 3’s are banned because of a slight change from the paddle you tested, we will release the exact paddle we tested, that you already approved, and if you try and ban this one, then you obviously lied before.

USAPA said there were different levels of foam in the approved version vs. the Gen3 Joolas. Would Joola have dared reissue the Gen3 with a face painted like the approved version, and less grit? Someone working at a paddle company said the factories literally can make the grit to pass USAPA testing on the samples and then change it up on production versions, so maybe that's what went on.

Joola said all along that the paddle submitted for early approval was essentially the same as the later released gen 3. So it was originally USAP approved.
Now the new 3S coming next month will be within very specific specs of the UPAA so those who want limits on paddles will be pleased. But, in the meantime, USAP limits materials over numbers so they are able to approve the mod even when the higher deflection, spin etc.

I had the v1 Hyperion, and was excited when I bought this racket. Out of the packaging, I was impressed. HOWEVER (and several reviews support this), as it breaks in it becomes wildly hotter - to the point of uncontrollable. I am a strong player with a heavy forehand already (read former tennis play so total banger) and now I can't keep anything in the court. It's fun at the net as you can punch with zero effort, but your ground strokes are all over the place and your serves become bizarre. The more it broke-in, the worse it became. Bummer to waste $275 on an uncontrollable racket (particularly as it has so much promise and nice feel), but I'm going to just have to buy an original Perseus 16. Super disappointing my one person's POV.

The paddle I got core crushed/delaminated after 2 weeks of play. During that time, it continued to get hotter and hotter until it was uncontrollable. This is a well documented problem from many players online. Joola will only replace one paddle and will not honor a return on the replacement. Their other Gen 3 paddles were banned shortly after they sold them and now the Mod Tech paddle only lasts a few weeks. I would not recommend this paddle or Joola as a company.
