Welcome to the "WWII History & Reenacting" UA-cam channel!
The main focus of this channel is primarily military history, mainly within the second world war (WW2) timeframe. The channel features various content, such as videos on metal detecting, magnet fishing, exploring and visiting historical sites, collecting militaria, reenactment, restoration etc. I'm a WW2 reenactor/living history enthusiast and many of my videos feature tutorials, kit reviews, reenactment footage and information about the hobby. I mainly portray the German side within the timeframe. Collecting militaria is a huge part of my life. Unboxing videos, collectible presentations, and collecting tips, as well as metal detecting and relic hunting are also typical videos on the channel.
This channel is strictly non-political and my videos are meant to be fun, educational, and informative
Enjoy!

@Moh Zahir USMC مسيحي 7777 Remind me what was written on the German belt buckle since Prussian era, which Hitler didn't even remove when he redesigned it? "Gott mit uns" - Not a very "teutonic pagan" thing to have on every single soldier... Do your research bud
@Moh Zahir USMC مسيحي 7777 you clearly don't. And you just contradicted yourself. Paganism is polytheism, and "Gott" means "God". Which you accept. And it's an undeniable fact that it says Gott mit uns. Which means God. Not Gods... Have you any proof that the Nazis were pagan, like, at all

“Don’t get East German boots you will be disappointed”
Me: *buys East German boots*
GasMaskGuy12 East German boots arent very good quality, and are rubber on the bottom. Its better to buy high quality boots,
Ellis I’m on a budget but I do plan on getting high quality stuff later on, and I didn’t buy any yet I was just making a joke
I like them.. then again I only got it for $15
Infinite0hacker East German boots are really low quality, some of them are made out of rubber, and they is no hobnail. Wachtbattalion boots are better than NVA boots, at least they are made out of leather and have hobnail on the bottom.
I am going to buy East German Boots for an East German Impression.
One of the best things I love about the German army is the music.

This content is absolutely fantastic. It gives such great viewpoint and understanding for new reenactors who are just beginning the hobbie. Thank you, and greetings from America!

Reenactor Guy too.
History secrets is pretty neat
The Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse is this what you do? Just go around to videos about teaching all sides of history and reply to every comment calling people Nazis? You are the problem.
I joined a fallschirmjäger re-enactment group and despite me just joining I did a ton of research on the equipment and the group was very impressed with my kit because I had pretty much everything including all the personal items. I'm loving the hobby and I got another event next week
That's awesome! 😊👍 Great work assembling your kit! Welcome to the hobby! Enjoy! 😊😊😊
These are the best instructional vids on the subject. The "rules" would apply to any nationality, arm or unit. Congratulations, well put together.
cant wait for part 3 whenever a new video of yours comes out my friends and i always watch it in our study hall class
Thank you very much, I'm flattered! :) :)
As always, great video 😊 Very professional. Brings a new depth to the field of reenactment!
Thank you my friend, really appreciate the feedback as always! :) :)
I finally know how to start re-enacting. Very helpful video!
Thank you! I'm glad you found the video helpful! :)
I just keep watching videos like this again because you're videos are just so nice
Relatively new subscriber here. Love these videos! Really explains the philosophy behind Living History outside the usual perceptions of just "dressing up" or "looking the part" most may have about the hobby.
Good to see someone else who replaces reproduction buttons!! I kind of have a button obsession and when I get a reproduction uniform I’ll completely strip it and add all original buttons with original button weight thread. I’ll usually add glass buttons to the cuff closures , dressing pocket etc..... because glass buttons are the coolest things!!!!
Totally agree - that's awesome! Good to hear that there are more of us out there! :)
Thanks for sharing, very informative and eye opening ! Nice collection !
Thank you Michael, glad you liked the video! :)
Love the video, quality as always
Thank you!! :) :)
Awesome! Thanks for making Part 2
Thank you Calvin, there will be more :)
Your humor is amazing.
Fantastic and very very informative, thank you man 🙋♂️
Thank you! :)
been waiting for this
Hopefully you found it interesting and it was worth the wait :)
I’m glad someone is discussing the swapping the repro buttons for originals. I took this approach to ALL my reproduction uniform pieces..I especially used original glass buttons where I could... glass buttons are truly sexy 😄
glass is fragile
@@cctproductions6976 I never broke a glass button while reenacting for over 20 years. As long as you’re not diving on concrete or cobblestone, and even then, those glass buttons are pretty resilient. Most reproduction’s uniform’s secondary closure buttons looks like something you can buy at Walmart anyways, I’ll risk breaking a glass or Bakelite button over that any day.

Thanks, very well thought out video, great information
Excellent. I'm part of Großdeutschland 1 in the UK, only recently joined after a stint in the LSSAH and we take accuracy very seriously. This is a very good video, maybe you can do a supplementary one on common personal effects carried by German soldiers ie pipes, matches, razors, toothpaste, combs, butter dishes and so on, because that's also really useful to know. Just a thought.
I know that this is an extremely old comment but could you tell me how I could join that reenactment group?

Good morning and greeting from Raleigh North Carolina USA
Hello, thanks for watching! :)
Best regards from Norway :)
Gebirgsjager (newbie) from Raleigh here!
Excellent video, I came in search for the name of the SA brownshirt and you said they're called "service shirts" so that's one of the main things I need thank you.
I believe what you're looking for is actually referred to as a "tunic." Service shirts are just what the soldier wears underneath the tunic (think of it like wearing a dress shirt underneath a suit coat). The Sturmabteilung enlisted man's tunic consisted of a yellowish brown tunic that ends at the waist and is meant to be tucked into the trousers. Officers tunics appear to be longer, and similar cut to a typical Wehrmacht and Waffen SS tunic. Note that variations in colour, pocket style, collar tab style, insignia, buttons, and other such details may have occured. The SA was an ever changing organization especially after the Nacht der Langen Messer and the removal of Ernst Röhm Hope this helps.
@@obviouspseudonym9345 thanks mate it really does help.
I wish somebody would do a detailed video like this for civil war reenactors!
Another perfect video by you. Wish there were such great "manuals" in german language too :-)

super vidéo , bravo...
I want to join a German reenacting group, but I cannot afford one thing.
My family is also trying to save up so we can have a house. But because of this video in the future I will know what to get.
Thank you!
I wish your family the best.
When you get into a better situation there are ways to do this a lot cheaper and not sacrifice on quality. Gavin Militaria has very good quality uniforms for the best prices. Join a reenactment gear Facebook group, people are selling stuff on those all the time. You can get pretty much all the equipment you need that way for a fraction of the price of new stuff. And even better it'll already be slightly aged for you.
Thank you for this video
My pleasure 😊😊 I'm glad you found it helpful 😊
More please!
More coming :)
Hello !
I love your videos, I just want to get into a German HEER uniform and your advice is very informative!
However, I did not understand where you find the top quality belt buckles?
Sehr gut gemacht !!
Danke! :)
Thinking about joining a reanactment group very helpful
Thank you, I'm glad you found the video helpful 😊 I also really recommend the hobby 😊
Weapons would probably be the most difficult part in Finland. Even deactivated guns have to be registered, and whoever possesses them has to have a license for that individual weapon. One has to be a member of a shooting club or similar for 2 years to get a license. Good luck trying to get an MP40 or similar, since the view of the law is "once full auto, always full auto", even if the gun has been welded to the point of exploding if it was ever fired for real.
I’ve been getting started in German reenacting but I do American rn and building a German impression is a hobby, I just got a pair of German jackboots from ww2 for 30$
Oh i so wanted those! I wanted to join a reenacting group, spend days with them at battlefield. But there is no WW2 reenacting group here in Brazil, and it's harder to get those items in good quality or uncensored...
Great video, if you reenact heer then you probably should try and get an original belt buckle.
Although I’m in western australia and we don’t have reenactment groups I want to start a German reenactment group and use our gel ball guns ( airsoft guns but they shoot orbez like things) on my farm property we have hundreds of acres full of forest so I think it would be fun.
Dude just took historical airsoft to a whole new level
@@zanderbroe5706 it sounds awesome. Too bad they have no banned gel blasters in the state i live in. Australia's gun related laws are dumb.
I have been a U.S. reenactor for 40 years. WW2 4th and 14th Armored units. Atthefront.com is a great vender. Most of there stuff is made in house at there place in Columbia K.Y. Rolland Curtis owns it and is very good at getting it right. He dose sell stuff from other makers but the A.T.F. things are spot on.
40 year - that's awesome! Yes, I agree, he makes some good stuff! Thanks for the comment :)
Great video , have a question what is the more plain tunic you wore when showing off the container at 16:30 if you remember where you got it it would be appreciated 👍
Very good Video ,greetings from germany
Thank you! 😊
Great video!! Did nordland division use M36/39 tunics? Or did they use only M43 tunics?
Nice video! Will there be a part 3?
What’s the best way to handle physical problems in reenacting? Such as knee problems or heel issues.
I have a question . The so called eastern german boot you shown in 13:23 looks like the modern parade german issued shoes? Looks very similar !
Hello does you have tips to clean the interior of an original canteen ?
Could we please have links to the products/vendors you recommend? Where did you get your marching boots?
Would you say Sturm M40 wool trousers are any good? Thanks for guiding us!

They are in Norwegian, and only printed - sorry
When you don't have much money
Late war?
It would be an expensive hobby nonetheless I'm afraid... but comparing it to the fun you will have it's well worth it in my opinion. Obtain items of higher quality, sometimes its more expensive, but it will end up cheaper in the long run - of course, that also depends on what type of reenactment you do :)
I already have a basic ss uniform minus the service shirt and braces, but does anyone have any recommendations on any vendors that offer accurate field gear and personal items for a good price?
Question, are there any roles that exists for females in German reenactment group, because all I can think of is maybe in a volkssturm role around 1945.
Hello Eliza! :)
There most certainly are! I don't know if you have a particular interest, but there is a long list of possibilities. There are nurses, Feuerwehr, and auxiliary military personnel, etc.
Please check out my friends from German, these girls do a fantastic impression.

Are you Norwegian? How did you get the Box for the Leather stuff?
Very helpful, I’ve just noticed I got only like 1/3. Even if I try my best. Probably won’t get it 100%
Might be silly as question,
Do you recommend any sites for uniform's buttons replica?
I understand this was very long time ago, but I want to know, is the uniform you have shown around 6:25 the one you primarily use? And if so, is it a Norwegian SS volunteer uniform cosplay? Or a conscript one?
This is a typical configuration of a regular Norwegian volunteer in Rgt. Norge as you would find originals 😊
@@ww2historyandreenacting I see now! I just thought it’d be somewhere around there since I saw the collar tabs.
How do you feel about the gd43 caps, if you have any experience with them? I've been thinking of getting a couple luftwaffe caps from them.
I have never handled one, so wouldn't know. But I've heard some great things about their M43 Heer caps. :)
Hey, I just wan’ted to ask, is it okay to so an ss impression whitout the camo uniform? I like the black and grey uniform but they wore camo ones
Depends on what time period, where the place you are re-enacting is (Normandy, Stalingrad, etc), and what type of re-enactment, camp, battlefield, barracks. if you are asking about in general did they go out with just bare tunics? then yes that's fine. just get the time period and place correct and you should be good to go
Make a video on the food that was prepared for the soldiers
Will do a video on that in the future - thanks for the tip! :)
reenactor guy has a great video on repro german rations
@@ww2historyandreenacting yes please!
Hello WW2 History and Reenacting, I think this is the 6th time I watch this specific video and I decided to ask you a question. I'm currently undertaking the path of reenactment/ing, portraying the 1st Panzer Division Leibstandarte A.H. and I'm struggling to find a faithful reproduction of a SS buckle. Despite being the one in your video a fake reproduction made to throw off (whose origin might might be known to me), I agree with you that it could be a really nice reproduction for display as far as reenactment is concerned. I was also wondering if you could share the source of that purchase or at least some additional information about it I would be extremely grateful to you. Whatever happens, keep up your work, I won't miss a video, as always!
Do i need to copy an exact unit? And what do i do when reeanacting alone besides making coffe and food
will there be a part 3?
Does anyone know where to get the period name labels for your gear and uniforms?
Where do I find elsanow at? I always hear good things and don't know where to find it
Elsenau Militaria is what you are looking for. The quality is very good but honestly not worth it in my opinion. Gavin comes very close for a fraction of the price.
The most things on this video are very good and important, but some things are overpaced. Most is ok. Greetings from Germany.
Hey, quick question. Have you seen the website Epic Militaria? They're one of the many I've found so far, like the ones you recommended, and I was wondering if you'd recommend them. They have cheap but, from the looks of it, good quality equipment and uniforms, but I'm still skeptical. For example, they have a pair of jackboots for just about $145 US dollars, compared to the $200-$400 range you mentioned in the video. They look good, but I'm wondering. If anyone has any answers on this, let me know.
Hi I see nobody responded and having used epic for years now, I think I'm best to help, if you've not already solved the issue. The Epic boots are perhaps the only time I agree with epic critics, as they are pretty tacky, inconsistent and the hob nails fall out allllll the time. If your also in the UK a better choise i've lent to for German Uniforms is Militaria.net. I got my boots there, with white stitching as opposed to black, but a bit of polish solves it right out. Best of luck and hope this can be of some help

Hey I’m putting together a kit right now and on my belt for some reason my belt is pulled down where the shovel and bayonet are because they are more heavy so it’s blended in one area and the belt isn’t straight and even do you know how I can fix this?
You got your belt hooks?
Maybe you said so in the video, but where did you get the Norwegian SS uniform jacket?
I really like the editing of this video
What do you think of panther store tunics?
Hello, what is the best reproduction of a belt buckle?
If you had to I suggest a at the front k98k bayonet it is a repo but it is the most high quality one I have seen and pretty cheap around 40 also much love from America can you give me any groups that live in the state of North Carolina please put it below me thanks
Do you know what Waffen SS rank/s would command a platoon? Also, were there German jackboots with only rubber heels because as far as I know German jackboots had hobnails underneath them. I found reproductions from military harbor but Im not sure if they are accurate cause they are only rubber heels.
Lastly, do German NCO's wear EM uniforms and equipment or the one's used by officers (like for example, did they use EM or Officer field cap and visor cap)?
Would you recommend History bunker UK?
I have a question, can I use a ww1 bayonet for ww2 reenacting?
