Technically speaking, under common law, no it is not illegal to overnight camp in campervan, as i drive round in my self converted small campervan am i seeing more and more signs saying "no overnight camping"
Something needs to change with our rules here in the UK.
But in this video, there was no overnight camping signs up and about, which makes people thing is it illegal to overnight camp in national parks.
Despite the no overnight camp signs i just wanted to prove that the area would be left in better condition than when we arrived. This whole illegal breaking the law for camping is really just about the elite taking our freedom away bit by bit.
So if anybody from the Shropshire Hills National trust is reading this, i would just like to point out, every time i use your incredible land, for hiking or camping, whether this be in a tent or overnight camping in a van, you can be assured it is people like myself and the others i was with that help keep your land in a cleaner, more eye catching condition.
It is a small minority that ruin it for us, and we get penalised.
Luckily from this amazing overnight camping trip we were left alone, and cleared up around us to leave it better than when we arrived. But my point i am trying to make is that we all seem to be getting our freedom taken, bit by bit.
Lets take Dartmoor for example................

I grew up there! I bought a Talbot Express last year and yet to go out in “Matilda” - she’s currently being welded due to a skuttle panel
Leak. I wanted to camp out in quiet areas as I have a reactive dog and now it’s really bothering me that finding places is none existent. I can’t go stealth. 😢

Excellent point there Dave. Once again it's the actions of a minority of idiots leaving a mess that spoil it for everyone, and the signs go up saying we can't enjoy the outdoors in the way we'd like to.

No matter what, I never get sick of watching you in the stunning Shropshire Hills, I'm definitely going to visit for a camp this year! ⛰️🏕 It's unfortunate that those signs are going up everywhere. In the Peak District, we have Snake Woodland that's constantly being used by fly campers that are leaving open fires burning. Those cretins should leave our places of beauty alone! Great to see you showing people how it should be done! 👍🥾⛰️

I think places on the quiet are still being used for fly tipping. Which is vile, all we can do is continue to do what we're doing.

Leading by example, seen a few articles about a big "RV" in North Wales outstaying it's welcome and upsetting the locals. Unfortunately people like that get genuine decent people like you a bad reputation. Cracking channel and the other UA-camrs you meet up with 👍🏻

I would love to see England and Wales adopt the Scotland approach. But again, that would come with some backlash 😏

I think the only place where its actually illegal to car camp is in Dartmoor because they have the legal tent camping there. Will double check though. Its so annoying that something that other countries have embraced is being taken away from us in the UK.
We're in NZ at the moment, and nearly every car park has a designated spot for vans to park up so they can camp. The UK is SO far behind

Yep, I just feel bit by bit our freedom is being taken away and I can't see this changing back to how other European countries cater for motorhomes/campervans.
We need to follow Scotland's example! It's criminal how much land is kept for private usage and we're only allowed to take glimpse at it from a footpath

Second.. great watch mate, these rules are ridiculous, problem is I guess not everyone is as considerate as you. Not sure of the right solution to it though.

Hi there new sub to the channel , Just want to say in the UK in 2023 as daft as this will sound i really believe your safer sleeping in your car/van than sleeping in an Apartment or a House share , as people now since the 2020 situation have got weird and not acting normal it is scary.

It's a sorry state but I'm afraid the crap what happened between the lockdowns with people using park ups and camp spots as party venues as and will have a long lasting effect.yes most of those people are now back in benidorm and the like but now people who look after where thery park and camp are now paying the price
My thoughts to chap, unfortunately the small wave of folks that were conducting such behavior has unfortunately had long term affects on us 'true' wild campers.
There are some kind landowners I'm sure that would be fine with it, if they see it's being used as intended.
As you said though chap, that minority are probably all back in benidorm now 👍

The llamas in the fields there? I've not been there for a bit, bit I like to see the llamas. As for no overnight stays, that layby does get busy of an evening on nice days, and people do have bbqs etc there, which leaves a lot of crap. its a bit of a hot spot. Done a run over they mynd a couple of times a week for years, and usually stop in that layby for a brew with a view before I head off, but I knackered an ankle a few months back so I've been away for a while, but building it up again so hopefully will be headed back soon.

It's a shame the minority ruin it for us, as mentioned in the video, I actually go round and pick up any litter I see around where I've stayed, it takes 2 minutes. If everyone was to do the same......

Hi Dean, definitely mate, Shropshire hills is a hidden gem, awesome place. Been up the wrekin quite a few times chap, but never camped up there. Gets quite busy from what I've heard mate.

The Wrekin gets really busy due to its close proximity to Telford .
We were running up there on Sunday as part of the Telford t50 relay with Shropshire Canicross. 🐕👍

It is beautiful there and I do feel for you guys with all these no camping rules, we all know you and the guys take extra care of the places you stay but if they start letting people stay it will attract all the dickheads that have no respect, dropping litter and using these beauty spots as dossing places 😢 Then things get spoilt for folks like you Dave and Brendan and not forgetting the cheeky chimp Gordon😉 Its catch 22 ain't it..... unless they had a way to police it? But then that takes the fun out of stealth camping altogether doesn't it 🤔 Wish there was a solution x
I'm totally hearing you, it's a real pity. I can probably count on one hand the ones in Shropshire that haven't got signs up yet, but I bet it's just a matter of time.
Wild camping in the tent isn't so bad. No one will come up a mountain to tell you to move.
Certainly is a catch 22, hate preaching to the choir though, as most of the people who watch my videos are doing the same 😏
