I'm ex RAF and can relate to that, spent some awful nights away from base..... once I had to close the patio doors onto the balcony and we made our way down to the bar :)
I had a night under a bash and bivy on snowdon in the 88 on my basic training with 60mph + winds still to this day I don't know how we got through it..but he's right it's exhilarating
Having lived outdoors for a decade in the uk, I’ve seen some extreme weather conditions. Only a few times did I encounter such storms, but I can pretty much guarantee that anything worse than what you put that tent through would have annihilated it. Great job mate. Fun isn’t it 😊
Been here for years ! This guy is hardcore .... i stumbled upon channel.... hooked . Ive just took up fishing , hope i bump into him . His editing is off the charts , manx govt need to be grateful for the likes of him.. hes our bear grylls yessir!
Gnarly weather dude, Soulo tent is the goat for surviving that. We never cook in our tents here in Northern California, too many bears nearby, food smells linger in the tent fabric even after the meal. Thanks for the vid, good job.
in bear country they told us (rangers) to cook 200 ft from tent/camp site because of the bears and do not have food even snack bars in your tent they can smell them. in a scouting camp one kid had chips (in bag unopened was told not to have it with him did he listion.) and his tent was full of racoons. screamed when woke up but not bitten.
"...providing I'm not half way to Scotland"😂😂😂. Epic camp!! Props to your audio: amazing in that storm! Love the history stories! Cheers from the Netherlands (Assen: we have a TT as well😊)
IOM is my spiritual home. Ever since I visited years ago I feel the immediate peace I've never felt before. The most incredible island in the world! Definitely a place to visit before you leave this mortal coil ❤️
Defintely one of the best youtube vids I've watched. Love the IOM, my kind of camping, love the elements. Great watch this was, this is defintely something I'm extremely interested in after watching! Thank you very much!!
First time I've watched one of your videos. Yes, I've subscribed, "Liked", & rang the notification bell. Your Hilleberg Soulo is definitely a 5-Star shelter out in the boonies. Good ole Delta pegs, however, with the wind I'd definitely be placing a big heavy rock atop each peg. I'm sure I know how you felt after pitching your Soulo & then getting inside it, & out of the storm. With these weather conditions, you definitely pitched/using the ONLY tent I'd want. Any & all Real Turmat meals are nutritions, tasty, & generous portions. I've never seen anyone actually "level" their frying pan until now. The historical footage was an unexpected & pleasant bonus. Good job getting everything packed up & not letting anything get blown away. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.
Glad you put the guys in as soon as possible - in the only video I saw a Soulo pole fail was when the guys were not pegged out quick enough or moved at the wrong time.
I was on top of Snaefell Pike during pre - TT week in 1974. My mates and I were on a week long exercise and it was blowing a cracking blizzard. We were in two man bivvies and Land Rovers. Digging fire trenches (fox holes) in a blizzard is much fun.
I used to hike and solo camp the Wasatch mountains in Utah. but only in good weather. I got snowed on ONCE but that was with a friend and HE was "under the stars". I woke up, opened my tent, and there was about 5 inches of fresh powder. It was about 20 F. My friend was warm and snug in his bag with his long hair sticking out the top covered in snow. LOL He LOVED sleeping "outside" but had NO PROBLEM coming in the tent for breakfast. Just a basic dome with an old Coleman heater in the center and the top vent open. 20F outside, maybe 50F inside with both of us.
Good tent that one. Survived in extreme weather, just what you need. I used to camp with my three girls in Manifold Valley Derbyshire. I put 4 xtra guylines on my tent and it survived terrible windy night. We could hear it coming down the Valley. Four tents were down people still asleep in them lol. Was gr8 fun and like you we loved it. NEw subscriber, loved the video. Take care
Really well done, thank you, just what I would have wanted to do & so I enjoyed it from home. And, you didn't say that it was terrible & you couldn't sleep. I sleep like a baby in wind & or rain storms, not worried if my tent sags, only if it rips through & even then, oh well. It is worth having a tarp inside, ready to put over you if rain or snow leaks in.
Wow, this was fun to watch. I got the Soulo today for an Iceland trip in 2023. I was wondering, if it could stand up to the elements, now I have no doubts no more. Thank you so much. =)
Great ghostly campfire stories. I am a believer with my own experiences. I am from the states. I have been waiting for the delta pegs for a few months. Customer service has been great with updates. I finally gave up because delivery date from across the pond was an unknown. Sure would like to have them. Thanks for the experience. Wishing you safe journeys and good fortune. Happy Trails!
That looked actually dangerous but you know what you’re doing. Obviously it was a great video really enjoyed it and those burgers look delicious. Keep up the good work.
Great video. Love the Isle of Man. .Accent is bizaare. Sounds scouse sometimes (I'm from Liverpool myself) but then a few other accents.. Very intersting!
I'm currently camping in the middle of yellow warning for rain in Scotland. First time I've camped in weather like this but your video makes me realise what I'm experiencing the now is nothing 🫣 I love wild camping but I've opted for a campsite for my first non summer weather 🌧️
What an adventure and brilliant tent to withstand the conditions. Now I kind of regret I sold my Hilleberg Staika (but on the other hand it was too havy for hiking). I´m back to Hilleberg Nallo2 but don´t know, if it could take such a beating. After experiencing a total tent collaps a few years ago deep in Norwegian mountains at minus temperatures, I so much appreciate the quality manufacturers (the tent that collapsed on me was a cheap brand). Great video and adventure mate!
I’m ex royal marine and I’ve spent some nights in bad conditions but that defo tops it insane weather good effort mate
Hoofing 😎

I’m ex Army and like you I did a fair amount of outdoor living. The difference is we didn’t have a choice ;)
Can we all agree that the sound of Nature is one of the best sounds of all time, it is so relaxing and soothing?
Works for me 🙌
I agree
Right up until you realise it's a bear and it can smell your trail mix. 😂
Literally cannot sleep without it for the past 9 years now, and it helps you to have continuous restful sleep through out your bedtime.
I suffer with insomnia but if it rains when I get in my sack and can hear it I go off to sleep albeit for a few hours but it seems to do the trick
Finally someone with a tent that didn't soak from inside and stayed solid
The stories and history added so much more to the typical camping film. Really enjoyed it!
If anything,, the tent manufacturer should pay you for demonstrating how great their equipment is!
People have put them through worse than me that’s for sure, great but of kit
I was going to ho that sentiment. Great ad!
Of course
I'm more interested in how well a Wal-Mart tent holds up. That's my price range.
Do you know the name of this tent?
Really impressive how that tent held out.
One of, if not the best, camping videos on UA-cam. Love the narration and the scenery. Brilliant! 👍😎
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for the comment
I love camping with rain and wind, it’s relaxing.
The closer you can get to bad weather and be sheltered, the better the buzz!
Hubby and I are going to camp in the backyard when it gets really cold, just to see if we can do it. Have solar/propane heat. We'll see...
I can't make it without my electric blanket and 12" of memory foam.
I agree about being a kid in your safe space out in nature. LOVE IT
During a hike. I spent 3 days on a mountain under my 4m x 4m budget blue tarp hiding from the weather.
Loved every minute of it.
Was it a woven weather resistant tarp? The kind that isn't even close to waterproof and leaks like a sieve. How'd you stay dry?
@@donolinger6904 it is woven but has a PU coating. So far I've not got wet in the 8 years I've owned it.
It's the best £12 I've ever spent.

This should be an advertisement for that tent manufacturer!

Some balls camping in that weather pal! That tent is some tent to stand them conditions 😳

Terrificly done! Great tent, great stormy weather, great stories - well done!
Thank you kindly!
I love the sound of wind and rain, I have a fan on 24 7 its the nearest I can get to the wind sound haha ,The best sound is rain in a tent ,love it,
The weather was very extreme, very strong wind gusts were visible. You are extraordinary. I hope you always healthy
I can tell you something now there would be a clean up team to clean up the mess straight away. Love your vid. God bless you Brother.

Hats off for the tent manufacturer 🤘😎 cool video bub 👍

This was great, the best weather to camp out in. I get great sleep when it is windy out.
Me and my daughter love this one because it has the spooky stories gives the perfect vibe for a good fall evening. Hoping there will be more to come!
Thanks Alex! I am hoping to make something similar in the next few weeks 🙂

Now that is how to test kit. Excellent dude, you can see why people like them
Thanks Nobby! It lived up to the expectations! I still love my £60 OEX PHOXX ii thoufh
That’s the reason I only use Hilleberg or my own diy tents. All of them withstood extreme weather.
That's wild.
I'd be absolutely kacking it 😂

Thanks for the sub! I agree a lot of click bait out there
