A huge thanks to Penny, a literal fox, for typing up all the subtitles with her paws which are so small!
#back4blood #left4dead - Ігри
This is truly superb work; loved the use of chapters to break apart the layers to the story and the visual gags and interstitials were a real treat. Enjoy your time off (and sorry for being the small domino that made the past few weeks of headache happen 😅)!!
The gags in this video are some of the best I've seen from Connor yet. The visual ones, the "intended" ones, and especially the "off-script" ones.
Why buy a DLC for a game that is eventually going to pass away? Such is life for the "live game" format
Bro I sinked in 100 bucks (base game and DLC) on day one. I had so much hope for this game and to see the devs abandoning ship when it's starting to get good is soul crushing.
And they expect you to level up and grind. Some developers don't respect your time. If every game is a grindy live service, then you can't devote to any of em.
Ngl ppl should know not to buy any DLC 😂 and this game isn’t going anywhere a lot of ppl hate this game cause they suck at it and that’s my honest opinion
@@judahchild2612 it’s not that they suck, it’s more along the lines of the game having some really stupid practices. Like original nightmare used to be the worst, speed running was gutted, melee used to be fun without cards, there was a time when four tall boys would spawn at the same time. Yeah Back 4 Blood had a really shaky launch, but there was also a lack of identity. It wanted to be a horde shooter and was “from the makers of left 4 dead.” Those words kinda sealed the game’s reputation as people are gonna compare the two, regardless of what happens. The DLC does try to improve the game, but the launch was such a disaster. It alienated and driven away a lot of people a few months in
@@P.H691 BRO! they’ve fixed all of that stuff in 2022. 🤣 ppl hate this game because it’s a CHALLENGE. a 6 year old can play L4D after school what does that say about B4B when most adults struggle playing that game.
It's impossible to not respect the amount of time and effort you put into these videos, words can't describe how much I enjoy your content.
As somone who has put over 500 hours into b4b I can toltally agree with your criticisms of the game. It's such a shame they stopped support, there is a much potential.
500 hours?! my condolences
everyone knows Overkill's Walking Dead is where it's at
now you're talking 🤣
The amount of work that went into this is wild and it definitely shows. Excellent work all throughout!
Despite the rocky launch of the game and eventual end of the dlc I did enjoy my time with it, I really loved making a busted melee build and eventually the bow dlc had some fun OP stats. I was glad they never went the microtransactions route but still find it insane you can't buy the ultimate edition content as a separate cheaper dlc once you own the base game, I still might buy it one day if it goes on deep sale. At least only one friend had to own the dlc for the group to play the levels and earn rewards from them too.
I still love No more room in hell, and still waiting for a sequel
An absolutely engrossing video to watch, this is why I'm subscribed to you.
Glad to see your still making content mate, great video!
Always good to see an upload by ya, and this was one of your best.
Wonderful video!
I personally prefer L4D2 because while it is simpler than B4B, it is also far more focused. I don’t have to stare at a new gun for a minute deciding if the higher rarity or attachments compliment my build, I just grab a gun and go. I feel like between the poorly explained stumble mechanics, the super arcadey, Fortnite styled weapon rarities and the card system, it actually reminds me of Doom Eternal in that they tried a whole bunch of new mechanics but didn’t fully commit to them. The card system is the only one that feels like it got proper attention.
The other big things for me are enemy design and tone. The enemy design is far and away better in L4D, where every special is immediately recognizable. In B4B there’s like three variants of every base type that needs to be approached differently and you often can’t even tell the difference until they’re up in your face.
As for tone, you touched on how the base maps conflict with the idea of being seasoned Cleaners, and I totally agree with you there. It bothers me that we have precious few maps where we’re actively improving a zone or rebuilding it. One of the early maps does have you help fortify a library and have to defend it with some NPCs, and I’d really have liked to have more missions like that. It felt like they stuck to a largely L4D level design philosophy even when it didn’t make sense. I’d have liked to see more emphasis placed on the reclamation themes.
I don’t think B4B is bad by any means, I like the depth it adds with builds and am really glad they made the decks fully accessible from the start of a map so you aren’t using a half of a build for most of the campaign. Still, the tighter focus on core mechanics always brings me back to L4D, where B4B trips over itself a bit too much for me.
Glad to see you still make awesome vids mate!
Again, amazing work.
DAMN. You must really enjoy your work to put in this much effort.
Fun video! I particularly enjoyed the fast cuts away from your throwaway jokes. My only complaint was the even quicker cuts away from the longer text stuff on screen, because I wanna read all of it and pausing at the precise moment on mobile was tricky.
Thanks for making this!
They mislead so much in the hype for the game. There is only 7 people at TRS that worked on L4D. So to say "the devs that brought L4D" feels a little false advertisey.
That's why you read the fine print if you fall for that. That's on you, lol
That's why I always say that the best way to extend a game's lifespan into infinity is adding mod support. Even a game that sucks ass got a chance at staying up if it has good mod support. Just look at Halo Infinite, the more controversial and least liked entry in the series. Despite that status, people make some wild shit with the Forge gamemode.
> monsters
> puts a cop up
classic Connor tomfoolery
The biggest gripe in B4B is a complete lack of Versus mode, which is the only reason for me and my friends to play l4d2
Swarm is trash😂 but other then that the game is good once you unlock all the ability cards . Ppl hate on it cause they’re not good at the game they complain about a card system but that’s why makes this game unique from L4D
@@judahchild2612 so most players or 'haters' as you call it, are not good?? fans of L4D? so your advice is 'gitgud' just to like the game?! 🤣 dude, if you're a developer and that's your logic, your game will die fast
@@judahchild2612 your just everywhere in these comments saying the same thing people suck at this game bruh can you just stfu OGs would rather play a real zombie game like L4D/2 then this POS I’ve played all 3 B4B is THE ABSOLUTE Worst Game No Identity Unnecessary Stuff Added This Game Is ASS
@@judahchild2612lol, you can literally play an improved B4B as a mod for L4D, so only, as you say, people not good at understanding games, would post the drivel you just did.
Not gonna lie, with the game that was called as "L4D spiritual successor", B4B had huge shoes to fill and unfortunately it's difficult to do it with a series that literally defined an entire genre.
Putting aside not the greatest story or characters, B4B tried new twists and modernizing with many things that scratch current day itch.
Unfortunately, the game suffered with what i can only call as "live-service mentality". Game didn't do well on the beginning with bugs (not too many) and questionable gameplay decisions that didn't work out for players. After the premiere, the game had to spend time fixing things rather than releasing new things to keep players engaged after the release. A thing that is way too common with live-service games mentality "Release now and fix later"
So now we're left with the game that had to be fixed, meaningful updates being pushed back even more and player base put off by game's first impression and unwilling to return till more significant changes are implemented.
I haven't played back 4 blood on account of my computer not being able to run games made past 2013 but it seems to me way more like a Payday 2 type experience where you really focus on finding your own playstyle because of all the ways you can customize stuff outside of the gameplay while Left 4 Dead is just about the visceral moment to moment gameplay
Burned too bright because something went wrong with the fuse, the side exploded and it fizzled out like a very badly assembled firework.
In l4d2, there many moments where I had to make decisions between which weapons I wanted to use because all of them are so much fun, im B4B, I looked and the little arrow to tell me if it was better. I didn’t care about how fun a gun was, kinda shows how little I cared about b4b.
Back2Work sounds like a survival game about 2023.
I really want a sequel or another game like this. So much fun
Only Conor could convince me to check out a game I wouldn’t otherwise. Great video as always and sorry for being slow in the uptick but congrats on the soon to be wedding!
banger video. always nice to see new stuff from you!
Wasn't expecting an upload, but it gives me something to watch I guess.
Nice rebrand.
The new profile pic feels more personal which is cool, but I kinda prefer the old one, but that's most likely just nostalgia bias.
I still haven't checked out B4B, I installed it through Gamepass a while ago but never played it, I'll probably get a family member to install it as it'll probably be better in co-op.
Cool
Modding isnt hard because of crossplay, modding is hard because Turtlerock hate modders and went out of their way to make it as hard as possible for people to create mods for the game.
Great video! Love both games but am a hard core back 4 blooder now, I tried to go back but it just feels old and outdated now, the new weapons and quality of life changes as well as character customization and card system have me hooked. I don't know when I'll stop playing this one, probably if and when they make a second XD but until then y'all can find me in the horde.
A M O G U S
Holy shit sheri this video is absolutely incredible! You never miss a damn beat
ketamine is just 4 beers at once you can't fool me
"This is 2023, we're all doing ketamine"
Anacrusis does crossplatform mods
It's all on unreal, so it just... Works
L4D’s simplicity and its Director 2.0 are what keep pulling me in. No matter how many bedazzles B4B offers on the table, a simple sniper rifle and a magnum and I’m set on playing more than 5 custom campaigns from the workshop. I don’t have time to figure out what type of build to play with, what attachments to use, and what type of weapons to rock with - with all that time I could’ve finished Deadbeat Escape (great campaign btw) back 2 back.
Modding support is what B4B needed. It stands to reason. If mods fixed L4D’s jank, mods _could’ve_ fixed B4B’s as well. Shame that won’t ever be the case.
B4b makes dumb gamers use they’re noodle 🧠 that’s why ppl hate on it so much your average person can’t jus pop it in and go kill zombies they have to figure out what cards work best for they’re play style and how to strategize
@@judahchild2612Naah, b4b isn't that deep. Don't flattered your self
@@gungrave10 the average gamer can’t pick up b4b and play it like l4d… that’s a turn off for most ppl who just want to shoot zombies .
@@gungrave10 B4B has a whole card system 🤣 it forces average gamers to use a custom build that they have to learn .
@@gungrave10 I play b4b and see new players hop in and start raging cause they die 5 mins into the match bro 🤣 I completely understand why ppl hate it
We need this on vr quest 2 or PC psvr
It's a real shame they've moved on, the final dlc was pretty good, it felt like each dlc they were learning the right grove t give the game more of a feel of potential but we're in a era where money talks more than passion for a game, so rip back 4 blood, you were fun, but could've been more
Easily the worst part was the different methods of getting items in the gameplay loop, first there was supply points, then totems (that rarely got new things) and then the bags... originally only in a single act!
Good video though! ^-^
(also slight tid bit, cold stream was a map valve got a the creator of two evil eyes to make, rather than it being a popular custom campaign, while I liked it, people are weirdly torn on it)
I honestly plauge Inc cure stuff with the economy would honestly be really cool a little like COVID game but bigger
no mod support or a versus campaign killed the game.
What mods do you need the ability cards can make you OP af depending on what your trying to do . Fast run , god mode, Melee, they even got rapid fire ability cards I think alot of you ppl suck at b4b And need a reason to hate on the game
@@judahchild2612 cards can't make the special infected turn into Shrek. B4B was just a shitty game
"How would you describe Back 4 Blood without describing left 4 dead?" I would describe it if Black ops zombie on steroids, or just a zombie version of rainbow six extractions (does anyone remember that game anymore? Lmao)
let's just say it never happened 🤭
I literally can't describe the game without having l4d in there somewhere.
U SAID DEAD ISLAND WAS A CLASSIC xD (classic Trailor maybe :^)
is that a mother loving left 4 dead reference?!?!
honestly when i saw it was live service and not simple like b4b then no mods and versus mode i dropped it hard tried it recently cant get past gunplay its awful
I honestly always wanted to try B4B, it looks genuinely fun no matter how you look at it. I really don't care if a game ten years ago did x, y or z better so long I get to have a blast with it.
That being said... The price tag is way too steep for me to swallow. It is the only thing holding me back from actually playing it.
If you enjoy it when you do play it, good for you, I just didn't have fun with the game when I played (I have gamepass)
The thing about why people say they like it because they like trash games this game not even fun anymore left 4 dead have everything. B4b is a spiritual thing .we ask for left 4 dead 3 . Turtle rock said nope this is a flop this game will not pick up just like red dead redemption 2
29:49 Didn't the marketing for B4D literally say it was supposed to be a successor to L4D2? Like they said so many times "by the developers of L4D2" but of the hundreds of people who worked their asses off to make L4D2, under 10 of them worked on L4D2. They marketed the game by using L4D2's success in mind, and used the hype to further popularize their game. SO OF COURSE people are going to compare the two. Then... boom the game came out and it was just boring. It wasn't shit, just boring compared to L4D2's low skill floor and high skill ceiling gameplay. People made the comparison because they realized B4B had no soul and is just another forgettable modern game. You can feel the humanity in the L4D2 with how it takes full advantage of the tech during the time(albeit yeah the game could use some modern polishing), actual likable characters, and most importantly the mods. There is more why B4B was compared then rejected, but this argument has gone long enough. It's sort of cringe making a lengthy response to a 1 year video.
Also Doom eternal is better than Doom 2016
Well the thing is... if this game didn't showcased itself as the successor of Left 4 Dead it wouldn't be that much of an issue.
Living in the shadow of a glorified game isn't really one of the best ideas to do, especially when you can just, make this as its own game. But instead they did try to make this the successor to L4D and it bummed.
I still think most people would've found the game boring
@@AceofSpades-zi6zx but it wouldn't be so lambasted by everyone.
World War Z is the better Left 4 Dead successor IMO
Nah, WWZ it just another boring clone as vermintide etc. but with third person. B4B is actually brings new things in stagnant L4D formula that make it real successor, not just reskin.
The problems i mostly had with back4blood was the fact the characters did not feel as personal and the fact the special zombies had no purpose but to be l4d specials in steroids to annoy the player.
Also the main game boss fight was just ass.
B4b is basically a worser l4d2
L4D2 is way superior than that garbage
Well Yes, But Actually No. L4d2 was always great. B4B never was good.
B4B make gamers think and use they’re brain 🧠. The average gamer can’t jus pop in B4B and kill zombies like L4D. figure out what cards work best for your play style. People are quick to shit on this game l4d will always be daddy but b4b is not trash they jus suck at it . You can tell who’s a new player in b4b and who knows that they’re doing
@@hotfuzz4416 you probably weren’t good at b4b. It’s the only zombie game on the market that doesn’t hold your hand 😂
@@judahchild2612 sounds like a lot of cope your taking in lol. Is "using your brain" the reason why they don't have or support modding or have a pvp type mode like l4d that people have been asking for?
Let alone make a lot of assumptions about me. I have played and beaten it, but my friends and I have zero desire to go back to it. From the sounds of the devs, they don't want to go back to it either xD.
Your arugments in Valve were weak as hell. L4D>B4B. Turtlerock was always trash.
Turtlerock created L4D. Without them there wouldn't be any Left 4 Deads. People still hating B4B should leave their echo chamber
@@Jackfromshack yes, the idea, but that's it. I can argue without Valve, the game would have been mid and forgotten. Just like Evolve and B4B.
@@hotfuzz4416 Evolve and B4B both loved my fandoms. Evolve "dead" because of 2K close servers, but some people still plays legacy version. B4B is crossplatform and I can play it right now and find party very fast on any difficulty. Both games are great and contradict with what internet says about them
The only what Valve proved that they also cannot support anything that is not Dota or CS:GO. Both, the Artifacts and the Dota Underlords are abandoned and forgotten. Not to mention Team Fortress 2. Valve's credibility has nothing to do with reality, I say this as a Valve fan.
Anyone else get randomly subscribed to this fella?
They have a lot of high viewed Payday 2 videos from years ago that I definitely remember watching I just must've not been getting their videos recommended for like 4 years. Maybe the same for you?
Times has changed and there is a bunch of games like this one.
Are you still non binary?
yea!
