The protagonists have the personality of wet paper, like the devs were scared that making them radical at all would make people angry
However, making them into stereotypes still made people angry. As it stands, William's twin daughters have no real distinct personalities.

What this game made it REALLY hard for me to keep playing was, ironically, the difficulty; but not in the traditional way. The game was just SOOOOOOOO easy on normal, that whenever I switched to hard, the difficulty spike was insane. From one shotting blind deaf mannequins, to getting one shot by a stray bullet any time I peeked out of cover. I wanted a challenge, but not a death wish. It was so frustrating I just had to quit. The gameplay is really fun even in solo, but there's no case if the game's enemies are do unbalanced.
It seems hard till you realize you have to use your environment, then you realize you can cheese almost everything
That's why you don't play like a pussy and you start off playing on the hardest difficulty
I got this from Gamestop for $6 and played it single player offline and it was fun as hell. I didn't have to deal with the online issues and I didn't even know there were micros in the game. I had so many coins just from playing it I never used any after about halfway through the game anyway. Good cheap dumb fun.

$6 is about what it is worth but I would argue never having to cringe your way through this awful game would be the best outcome because even if the game is cheap there are so many better ways to spend time especially with a better game

Before watching the Video: Yes.
After watching the Video: Still Yes. It should have been a sign, that they didn't bother to make new music for it and just remixed the old stuff from New Order. It was such an awfully paced game and boring combat experience that my Co-Op Partner and I never managed to force ourselves to finish it, while we were somewhere after the first third. It also didn't help that it was set AFTER Hitler got axed, which should have been done in a "new" Wolfenstein before doing this game (as it IS one of THE things players would want to do in a Wolfenstein first and foremost), and the Protagonists seemed to have been written as unlikeable Idiots in the cutscenes.

I think it is a good game, but compared to the hype and acceptance of the other two games it just wasn’t the same. They still put in work, and like you said the music was epic to say the least!
Main thing that ruined this game for me is how, after the awful ending of Wolf 2, they double down and time-skip by 20 years and leave us with basically nothing of the past games. Like hitler died off-screen? In a wolfenstein game?!
That's like not getting to kill the icon of sin or the cyberdemon a DOOM game it's just not acceptable!
It's lot of saddening when some random Wolfenstein fangame done by small unknown team not only includes actually fighting Adolf one-on-one along with Wolf3D villains, but it also has boss fights with some infamous real figures from WW2 like Goebels and Mengel. (Seriously! I'm not making this up!)
The whole skipping thing makes me think Machine Games got lost in worldbuilding and don't know how they gonna wrap things consindering how many plot points they introduced got left unresolved.

Yeah that was the thing that annoyed me the most. If it was just a spinoff that wasn't cannon, sure who cares it may not be the best but at least it doesn't mess with the universe's lore, but no skipping ahead 20 whole years and having literal Hitler die off-screen just feels like being slapped in the face by a wet fish.

Honestly the dialogue and the time skip is the biggest issue from the game as well the level up system/ rpg elements was totally different for a wolfenstein game but I did enjoy the gun system and that certain attachments for certain style of players
I feel that the armor system introduced into the game was an unecassery addition to the flow of the combat, making for a very jank lurch from the rather aesthetic run and gunning of the previous game to rock-paper-scissor armor/damage mechanics and enemy health bars/levles.
If killing Nazbols with a friend is what you wanted, consider the World at War co-op campaign.

what really killed this game for me was the whole match ammo to the enemies armor thing, it's akin to borderlands elements system where certain elements are more effective on certain enemies types then others fire being effective against flesh and acid being effective again bots and armor etc but done in the worse way possible, along with the whole enemy level system with it being fine until you get to a certain patrol or squad that are just over leveled for where you are at in the game instead of making unique squads of say elite enemies it's just throw extra dmg and health on them cause why not.
From a casual ( maybe coop ) gamer, yes it s worth it.
For a Wolfenstein fan, or someone who is intrigued in the series, NO.

I'm playing it now on PS5. It is currently (June 2023) available on PS+. I can't remember which tier, either Extra or Premium. I haven't played with anybody else yet, but I'm enjoying it. I haven't had any crashes or technical issues yet (knock on wood). At first, some of the teenager banter was annoying but maybe I'm just a grumpy old man. --- GET. OFF. MY. LAWN. -- But I've gotten used to it.
The game has the typical mini-map in the corner of your screen, but no big map which is kind of annoying sometimes. You'll have an objective beacon and it's like, how TF do I get over THERE?
Finally, in most games I find the companion AI to be annoying, and W:Y is no exception. On the upside, you can basically walk through your sister, so she can't block you in at doorways, but she does bop all over the place even when I'm invisibly sitting still. She has blocked SEVERAL throwing knives, and she constantly strafes in front of my shots.
On the whole, if you can pick it up for cheap or PS+/GamePass, then go for it. I can see how it would be really fun with a buddy.
Very few cared that the game had female characters. People cared that the game had very poorly written characters. The fact that game and film makers seem to be jumping on the virtue signalling band wagon and promoting WOKE politics over quality stories and characterisation, is another talking point. I’ve never met a gamer that dislikes any well written female character.
Yes, it is realistic in one sense to have annoying characters, but does that make much sense for the lead characters? As for the actual game choices made: I think it was part of the typical trend to force old game IPs into this generic formula and done poorly.
Please explain to me, where were "the woke politics" in YoungBlood? The game literally has less than 40 minutes of cutscenes and says practically nothing about anything other than "Nazis bad". We already knew that Anya was pregnant in The New Colossus so it makes sense that she'd have twin girls which would fit perfectly for a co-op game. It's not like we're gender-swapping any pre-existing character or re-writing them in any way. People were ultimately mad because apparently adding women to any game that didn't have it before is some "sjw agenda", and they got especially mad that they weren't that feminine.

Bought this a few days ago on my switch it's been fun honestly but I down have a very high standard for FPS if the gun play is good I'm happy
It was and is dogshit a buddy got it for me and him for a good co op shooter we got a few lvls into it before reaching this one lvl that just crashed both of our games instantly I refunded it back to him and he did the same
I have read the comments, not all hate this game, so I probably gonna buy it since it s on sale, around 9 - 10 dollar

Playing now, and after playing new order and II..... I'm disappointed. The first two games flowed much better. Each mission had a point which moved you forward in the storyline. Youngblood is co-op farcry, I like farcry but if that's what I wanted I'd just play farcry. On the character subject, I liked the twins it was a cool idea. My main problem is the errand running for little bullshit and no real direction on what to do next

And they definitely nailed the 80s aesthetic in the details and all the collectibles I mean the game is definitely a full skill game in comparison that's not just a quick rush through shoot him up definitely reward finding things and the attention and detail that Bethesda machine games put in it's awesome

After the patch where they allow you to pause in single player, I enjoyed this game. It has the Wolfenstein 2 gameplay with a semi open world. The bullet system is unnecessary, but I don't mind it. The writing for the 2 daughters feels really forced into them being 'radical'. Every joke they spout out is lame. They just don't have the attitude of being BJ's daughters. If they actually had a more humble attitude and acted more serious, the writing would've been better for them. They just feel like 2 characters from Borderlands 3, which is not a comparison you want to have.

It can be very difficult to navigate your way around the missions, and often end up in the wrong place the mini map on it's own is not good enough.

I just started playing it on Game Pass last night. Before playing it, I already hated it seeing how it just looked like it derailed the new direction that Machine Games took the series in. Setting it 20 years later with his twin daughters who seem annoying as hell, with an overabundance of RPG elements, microtransactions, and an emphasis on co-op.
All that being said...I've enjoyed it so far and ONLY because the gunplay is solid and Arkane did a really good job with the level design. As much as you may hate it, you have to admit they put effort into the design of it. Is it a great game going off TOB, TNO, and TNC? Nah, but it's enjoyable in its own way.
With another Wolfenstein game on the way to close out the series, I'm hoping that Machine Games takes more inspiration from TNO than their past two efforts. As neat as it is to see Nazi-occupied Paris in the 80s, I hate that we had the whole revolution to look forward to in American in the 60s and barely got to experience any of it.
anddddddddddd...as soon as the game switched up into the open levels, it facepalmed. Enjoyed the linear layout of the first hour or so where the 80s aesthetic was put on full display and the design was gorgeous. Should have kept it that way, because the open layout just completely destroys the game's tempo. Hate the fact that enemies continue to spawn out of nowhere and the save system is absolute trash. If they kept it linear, it could have been decent. Oh well...back to playing The Old Blood haha

I feel like if they had some kind of weapon drops and loot (becuase of the type of game it is), people maybe woulda accepted the design of the game a bit more. Its set up like a looter shooter, plays like one..... but then theres no loot or any real reason to keep doing the stuff the game wants you to do over and over. Why repeat things, why do dailies, if theres no reward? lol

A bit detached from this game specifically, but....
I think anytime a game tries to create urgency through cutscenes+dialogue only without being under an active preassure (timer/waves of enemes/etc) always falls flat.
And that just contributes to making the story lose any sense of reality, by breaking world rules that it itself set up.
Seems kind of boring but wouldn't it be more consistent for NPC to just say "make your way over to X when you can", then when the set piece happens do the urgency when the player is trapped in an event.

And I don't know why this game got so much hate on the co-op gf and I played this back in August 2020 so a year after launch or so and even on a shaky internet connection never got disconnected, maybe once or twice and this is on PS4 and the pro idk if that factors over all connection and functionality nevertheless no problems or bugs we encountered that stick out in memory, and this is not because I'm a Wolfenstein fan boy and have played it since the original on MS-DOS or all the doom games ect. This is just purely from experience with the game and it's absolutely does not deserve all the aid it's got it's not very bad if it's said to be

Underated opinion: I really enjoyed young blood. Was very different but New Order and 2 beats it in terms of story. I do really like the free roam in Young Blood though. Hate the two bitchy girls though. Could've had two brothers instead. I hope Wolfenstein 3 has a good story and free roam feature. Make it like Dying Light. An end game feature where you have to liberate areas and make it safe for the resistance to control, but then you would have to keep it under control or Nazi reinforcements could take it back. Would mean there's still things to do in end game. And more kit too.
I wonder why you didn't talk about the arsenal and the 2-armor-system the game has. I had issues with those when I played the game.
First of: The names are really confusing. About a third of the weapons end with "-gewehr", another third ends with "-kraftwerk", and another third with "-hammer". And having weapons called "Kugelgewehr" and "Kugelhammer" or "Dieselhammer" and "Dieselkraftwerk" doesn't help with the confusion. Especially after I found out that the Laserhammer can open doors that the Laserkraftwerk is supposed to open, but the Dieselhammer can't open doors the Dieselkraftwerk is supposed to open. And I found the normal weapons to be too similiar. Three weapons (the assault rifle, the MP, and the SMG) are just "fire many bullets fast". I would've gladly traded the SMG for another explosive option besides the DKW.
Talking about that: That is possibly an error of mine but I didn't use the -kraftwerk weapons much because I always feared I would empty them by accident and then couldn't get a secret when faced with a door that needs any of those weapons. I think a good solution for that wouls have been to either have those weapons regenerate the least bit of their ammo outside of combat or have them fire a much weaker shot if empty, enough to open doors but barely scratch enemies.
And about the armor: It's a good system in theory but I found it very unintuitive which weapons are for which armor. I get that the assault rifle and the laser weapons are effective against heavy armor, and that the MP and SMG are good against light armor, but why is the pistol good against heavy armor? One of the weapons with the smallest calibre and shortest barrel. Or why is the DKW, that is used to blast open reinforced doors that even lasers can't melt, good against light armor? I think it evens out so that half the arsenal is good against heavy armor and the other half against light armor, but to me it felt like a lot of the heavy armor weapons were way more situational than the light armor weapons.
the worst thing about this game is the fact that it essentially killed wolfenstein, they made a massive time jump from the last game which killed off any potential direct sequel to new colossus, killed hitler off screen which was a big enough deal that it should have had its own game.
i cant tell if this game has really good graphics or is really ugly, especially the cutscenes

is it bad no but its not really that good either id say its below average at best cause i loved the new order and loved 2 maybe even more but as a sequel to the last game wow its bad. its just boring was my only complaint. but i still love the brutal wolfenstein the most (which is a awesome mod for wolfenstein 3d) sure story is cool but when i just want to kill nazis and not have to worry about story ill play that. just like the doom reboots i like them but i like the first 2 the best from the 90's especially brutal doom.

It's all just fun to me the level 62 now , microtransactions felt unnecessary but never felt like I had to get exclusive skins, I usually been playing on normal or hard when online I still come across a random that's at level 10 or less so I can't remember how it scales level wise for them but they keep dying in 1,2 shots when on very hard or challenge difficulty's.

Im playing it now and honestly don't know why people hate it. Not as good as the others but im enjoying it.
Two big turn-offs that will stop me buying a game: monetization and AI companions. Loot crates and in-game purchases are a curse on modern gaming and with an AI companion you're never left in any doubt that you're "playing the game wrong" because there's meant to be two of you. The latter point killed this fanchise for me, because I much prefer single-player games and that was arbitrarily rescinded in this title. So I never bought it and have no interest in ever doing so, no matter how cheap it gets on Steam.

I have completed the game on both Single Player and with a Friend and the difference is non-existent. There wasn't an instance in which having a friend was more beneficial than having an AI Partner as the co-op aspect pretty much boils down to Killing and Reviving.
As mentioned the only reason to play with a friend is purely for the fun of it and I had a solid blast. Nothing screams joy like two friends using an Uberhammer to kill a Brother.
The games terrible end of, I hate the fact they added healthbars you cant just run through destroying nazis have to use certain guns just kills the vibe

I remember when people called Youngblood ESS JAY DUBLEYOO for the main protagonists alone and saw a lot of people basing their reviews off that at launch. Honestly the characters are pretty corny IMO but charming at the same time. That aside, the gameplay of Youngblood feels pretty repetitive. I’ve had the same experience playing games like MW2 spec ops mode or hell, even EYE Divine Cybermancy. It’s not a bad game but honestly for machine games, I expected more from them.

Good game, bad Wolfenstein. The story would be fine if not executed poorly. Terror Twins tend to switch between cute and melancholic to absolutely goofy and typical-annoying-teen. Enemies having level scaling is weird. Resistance NPCs are completely soulless. The game is basically 4 missions separated by level restrictions.
Shooting feels great. Variety of weapons to use. The RPG character development is amazing and fits "learning to become THE BLAZKOWICZ" theme, in previous Wolfs Blazko didn't really need any perks, he was one man army already, you just needed to upgrade Laserkraftwerk to the fullest and that's all you needed. So I found buying perks and upgrading weapons really fun. Microtransactions are not a problem, you literally can buy almost everything via in-game money and it's not hard to farm them. Locations are well designed but too small for my taste. Enemy design is great too. It's a really fun shooter, especially with friend. Just a poor Wolfenstein story-wise.
since the beginning wolfenstein has this gameplay loop of a man fighting nazis, with standard weaponry to crazy weapons, fighting supernatual beings and what not, youngblood in particular to me after playing all of the game was the inclusion of co-op and pseudo co-op, then comes protagonist who are females and their whole interaction is just awful. if it were to be and RPG where we can make female character yes it would be good but 2 girls going co-op in a wolfenstein game is not interesting at all. i ditched this game the moment i played first 5 mins of this game. i m here to expect a wolfenstein game not a loot shoot.
I only just played the blimp level. I can appreciate "trying" a different approach by using the twin daughters. What fell short for me was the RPG elements (save that for multiplayer, not Campaign), pretty much a bland storyline, and the same enemies you blew away in the other three, are harder to kill, with the same weapons used in the previous games.... Oh and while Idc about the main characters being women in this, at least be intimidated a bit by killing their first people, instead of acting like Charlies Angels right at their start

I thought it was quite funny and enjoyable, a nice blend of ideas. Part shooter, part RPG I got more good times out of this than I did with Doom (which I loved by the way). I made my first play-through a collect and do everything run, making it an awesome Covid distraction buddy.
Intel makes sure Youngblood won't play on their new 12th gen CPU with Win 10 just so you find a new reason to hate the game all ove again.
Their dialog is highly annoying. Too much 80’s style slang. Being so elite, they would be more serious. Throws off the whole thing.
Considering the gaming industry is in a deep shithole rn, it's pretty ok game. I mean, Arkane totally lost it at this point...

You're missing the point entirely in this video. People didn't like the sisters because they were terribly written and presented, it's nothing to do with their gender, assigning the justified criticism to misogyny is really lazy. Also, spoiler, people don't want a co op looter shooter microtransaction game from Wolfenstein. Colonial Marines is fun with a friend too, doesn't make it a good game, and doesn't make it a good Alien game particularly. This game was Bethesda using the IP on a low budget product too see how much they could make off it in microtransactions. That's it.
This game is a disgrace on the wolfstin name it took every thing' good about the first 3 and scrap it for teenage vibs wolfstin was good because of the story and the settings not being afraid of showing how bad things would be .but young blood doesn't even feel like a wolfstin game in my opinion it's a waste of money and it damages everything the first 3 built if you wana play wolfstin just play the old blood then the new order and then the second one .Young blood should not be a wolfstin game it's tow light and the overall story is disappointing and they nerft being able to use tow guns at the same time

The gameplay and downright awful design and greediness is what made Youngblood terrible. Are the sisters the problem no there’s great games with female leads it’s their writing I can’t stand they feel like annoyingly cringe cliches of siblings. Like whoever thought them up never had a sibling and used old movies to learn what a sibling was.
I appreciate your honesty. Most of the reviews I watched on this they just ripped on it but you point out its flaws and praised things that the game does right and for that I thank you 🙏

No it isn't that bad it's more Wolfenstein in the 80s and yeah the daughters can be a bit corny, however picking up 2 copies of this for less then 20 bucks and the graphics are completely fine they're not severely scaled back or anything the game still looks beautiful particle effects are better in a lot of areas the gunplay is still solid you can level up fast it's not a bad game it's actually a lot of fun exploring and finding things and like most spin-offs it has a nice chunk of time to get through while we wait for Wolfenstein 3 which would be awesome if they added co-op in that also doesn't need a flat out and multiplayer but that also would be a nice addition but doing the extremely difficult challenge maps on Uber they were anything but easy painstakingly difficult but worth it and to have a buddy definitely would help out but even then still have a Max difficulty and learning curve
All these Game Starting to be copycats with the same difficulties. That why I hope if they make Day Gone 2 or 3 they keep it the way they style stop trying make Games like Division or Recon warland
The game isn't bad at all I'm playing it rn on the series s the graphics are great the gameplay is smooth af and the story is fun it's not as dark a d gritty as the first 3 games but people definitely overreacted when they found out it was a coop game with two female leads and that's why people hate it ... i think all the games in the series is over the top fun just killing Nazi's and really that's what I want to just have some fun
I love it and I played all the older ones. This one though, I noticed it has alot more Dishonored-esque mechanics. As a fan of both franchises. I like Young Blood. But I do miss playing as BJ but, I can always go back the older ones for that experience. 🔥

I don't get the hate. I enjoyed my full playthrough and I played SOLO everything. It was pure shooter with some RPG features and I loved it. The ending gave us much better fight than in the New Colossus for example, so I really enjoyed the game. Sure, the story was kinda lacking, but it did lay out a path for perhaps even Wolfenstein 4, so I am happy.
The game is incredibly annoying and stupid. All copies should be burned.
