@@tatot1 to expand on this, many samurai and low class citizens converted, and threw a revolt, which would have succeeded, but the Dutch backed the shogunate, for profit. This is what led to the brutal suppression of Christendom, and the maytrdom of quite a few catholics and Protestants alike
