I'm a 38yo Black Man and find those anti-cop messages as disgusting. I reject BLM because, that is what it's attracted. I respect most law enforcement and respect who they are and what they do and say to those people who don't like them to stop calling 911 if that is their outlook. They don't speak for law abiding black people like me and my family. Just dropping a line to let it be known and call it out. I really enjoy this channel by the way and only come with my mind, passion for history and love for channels that do truthful history justice. Keep doing what you do and believing how you believe. Precisely! As you do your history videos, Jeff there are those who spend their entire day trawling the Internet, looking for some content to pillory here and there. And it won't just be your channel, which I'm sure you can divine from the calibre and content of their comments. Every UA-cam channel has them, and Facebook, TikTok etc. It's unfortunate that they come with the territory. Ignore them. That really dreadful post exhorting people to "disdain" police .. did you report it to your local police station? You ought to because you don't know if this person is minded enough, armed enough to actually do something himself. The last thing you'd want, Jeff is for something dreadful to happen, then know in hindsight that you may have prevented it. You keep doing what you do, the way you do. It's what we love you for! 😊
Sir. I’m so sorry for all the bad comment. You do make a difference and I pray you have a second to read. I’m a disabled vet, ex military contractor and retired deputy sheriff. I have severe ptsd and many health issues related to each job. Due to my head issues and pain I would and still do drink to relieve the pain. Since watching you, Sats and Sundays we take our walk, have some coffee and watch our new favorite channel on the World Wide Web. On these days, no drinking. Your my new and improved ptsd medication. Wow, I get some negative comments on my channel, but my channel is fluff compared to the beautiful hard work you put into yours. There is a lot of imagination, research, hard work and a little magic, that goes into making meaningful content that both informs and entertains. You've got the formula down pat, keep the wonderful and informative stories coming, we all love them!

My mom was an exceptional person who loved everyone she met. She always met negativity with kindness and love. I wish I was more like her. Jeff and Sarah, I watch several other UA-cam channels where creators occasionally share some of the negative comments they receive. This to me is always quite illuminating. One thing you don’t really know is the age of the writers, their educational background (‘though that’s probably not too hard to guess), and also if they’re on whatever drug(s) they fancy. Generally people who can’t appreciate when somebody is trying to create something positive, and those who are hypercritical - are missing some important elements in their lives. From my own experience I find that people who don’t have much of a creative talent often are the first to criticize you. They should be invited to start a UA-cam channel on any subject and see how well they do. Any authors who have to drop f-bombs show a distinct lack of creativity. How sad when that’s the only word they know to describe how they feel! Fortunately most of your audience is thoughtful and well manned. They appreciate you and the value your channel brings into their lives. Those who leave negative comments… how sad you have nothing better to do with your time! Stop putting people down and learn how to be a positive influence. You’ll make more friends this way! Keep up the great work! Looking forward to future segments! It's getting harder to tell if bots are writing all of the lazy, incoherent, troll messages, or actual humans take time to write that stuff. Anyway, you have a great show. A ton of work and dedication goes into making a show of this quality. Locations, photography, research, narration, editing is no joke, and I think the results are fantastic. Huell Howser left a big hole when he left us, and I think you are keeping some very important aspects of California Gold alive.

I watch History Hunters every week. LOVE what you and Sara do! Thank You! I have been a lover of North American History all my life, a real fan of the wild, wild west. It brought tears to my eyes the cruel and harsh comments of some people. They should look at themselves in the mirror and ask themselves WHY? Why am I so ugly on the inside. I live in Canada and I love the history of the USA, and the way you present it makes it all the more enjoyable. Perhaps those who don't like your work should just get lost! Keep them coming! husband speaking - all the haters, why are they watching ? Nothing in their life to do except try to make others feel bad too. I am age 81 and my wife is 75, getting close to the end of life problems. Today, Friday we drove down to Purdy & Walters cemetery called Floral Hills. Mom and I have been considering Cremation rather then ground burieal. We have no relatives or family in or near Everett, Wash. Our only son lives in Vancouver, Wash. We purchased two plots 26years ago for about $7000. We were told that each single spot today would cost $15,000 and our total package would be $40,000. Who can afford to die ? We saw so many huge and fancy head stones, inlaid pictures, designs, polished marble or granite. They all are beautiful to see but why? Just for some relative or rare friend who might go to the cemetery to visit you. I can get a nice marker for free from the military, or just an urn to plant somewhere. I don't need a marker for some stranger to walk buy and say, wow, that is really something. I am entitled to a free spot because of military service.
I recently had a weeks stay at Enloe hospital, a very scary situation for me, but greatly enjoyed watching your vid while there, and now home for a long recovery back to somewhat normal. 🙂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

While listening to the good comments I found myself smiling about most of them and there were a few that actually brought tears. Then the bad comments came - my jaw dropped. It's really hard to believe we have people that horrible walking around. The comment about the 4 young Highway Patrol officers who were gunned down was totally disgusting. Like you said there are bad apples in any profession but I believe most of the law enforcement officers are there because they want to help people. On a lighter note - I love your channel and enjoy getting to travel all over the country with you and Sarah seeing places wouldn't have a chance to visit. And I like your hair style - don't change it!

I grew up in Southern California and love your videos. Hearing details about many places I have visited there is very interesting. I am 80 and have lived in Texas since I was 19 years old. I love Texas just as much as I love California. I have many happy memories of camping trips with my family and day trips to Mojave desert, the mountains and fishing in the Pacific Ocean. And, once a YT channel becomes super successful like yours (passing the 100K mark) you're a huge target. Frankly, I wouldn't put it past YT with their 'algorithm' mindset to be behind some of it. As for me, I've told you numerous times that you have a fabulous voice, so calming to listen to. I even mentioned that I hoped you had read happy bedtime stories to your kids when they were little because it would have been so soothing for them. So far I have found less than a handful. Personally, I have learnt so much history that has very obviously been researched in great detail before production. The Police hatters, I wonder who they will call when someone is damaging or stealing something they hold dear?? Your hair! I am jealous! Sara, seems to have a witty sense of humor. Greetings my friend. My wife and I love History and love to hear about where we grew up. Every story has one of our own stories, so we talk about where "we" were there. Keep doing what you do. Not everybody is made for History (it likely could be demonstrated in their school grades) but we are. Every story from Waterford, Hughson or Modesto is fun as we still have family all over there. Also, after 20+ years in LE, I have learned to accept not all will like me and say things to try and hurt me. I am just as God made me...

I've never understood hate comments like these. I'm convinced the ones who posted those extreme comments probably suffer from some sort of mental illness. It's sad that online, those unstable people are essentially given a bullhorn, and their rhetoric can really dominate. But, they're only brave enough to spread their insanity online. Most people outside of the online sphere, regardless of their leaning, don't subscribe to those ideas. Anyway, I've only commented a few times on your channel, but I've followed your work for a while now and really appreciate your passion for history, and as an Oakdale resident I really love to learn more about our local history. Keep up the good work and don't let the haters get you down.

I'm a 38yo Black Man and find those anti-cop messages as disgusting. I reject BLM because, that is what it's attracted. I respect most law enforcement and respect who they are and what they do and say to those people who don't like them to stop calling 911 if that is their outlook. They don't speak for law abiding black people like me and my family. Just dropping a line to let it be known and call it out. I really enjoy this channel by the way and only come with my mind, passion for history and love for channels that do truthful history justice. Keep doing what you do and believing how you believe. Precisely! As you do your history videos, Jeff there are those who spend their entire day trawling the Internet, looking for some content to pillory here and there. And it won't just be your channel, which I'm sure you can divine from the calibre and content of their comments. Every UA-cam channel has them, and Facebook, TikTok etc. It's unfortunate that they come with the territory. Ignore them.
That really dreadful post exhorting people to "disdain" police .. did you report it to your local police station? You ought to because you don't know if this person is minded enough, armed enough to actually do something himself. The last thing you'd want, Jeff is for something dreadful to happen, then know in hindsight that you may have prevented it.

Sir. I’m so sorry for all the bad comment. You do make a difference and I pray you have a second to read. I’m a disabled vet, ex military contractor and retired deputy sheriff. I have severe ptsd and many health issues related to each job. Due to my head issues and pain I would and still do drink to relieve the pain. Since watching you, Sats and Sundays we take our walk, have some coffee and watch our new favorite channel on the World Wide Web. On these days, no drinking. Your my new and improved ptsd medication. Wow, I get some negative comments on my channel, but my channel is fluff compared to the beautiful hard work you put into yours. There is a lot of imagination, research, hard work and a little magic, that goes into making meaningful content that both informs and entertains. You've got the formula down pat, keep the wonderful and informative stories coming, we all love them!

Jeff and Sarah, I watch several other UA-cam channels where creators occasionally share some of the negative comments they receive. This to me is always quite illuminating. One thing you don’t really know is the age of the writers, their educational background (‘though that’s probably not too hard to guess), and also if they’re on whatever drug(s) they fancy.
Generally people who can’t appreciate when somebody is trying to create something positive, and those who are hypercritical - are missing some important elements in their lives.
From my own experience I find that people who don’t have much of a creative talent often are the first to criticize you. They should be invited to start a UA-cam channel on any subject and see how well they do. Any authors who have to drop f-bombs show a distinct lack of creativity. How sad when that’s the only word they know to describe how they feel!
Fortunately most of your audience is thoughtful and well manned. They appreciate you and the value your channel brings into their lives. Those who leave negative comments… how sad you have nothing better to do with your time! Stop putting people down and learn how to be a positive influence. You’ll make more friends this way!

It's getting harder to tell if bots are writing all of the lazy, incoherent, troll messages, or actual humans take time to write that stuff. Anyway, you have a great show. A ton of work and dedication goes into making a show of this quality. Locations, photography, research, narration, editing is no joke, and I think the results are fantastic. Huell Howser left a big hole when he left us, and I think you are keeping some very important aspects of California Gold alive.

It brought tears to my eyes the cruel and harsh comments of some people. They should look at themselves in the mirror and ask themselves WHY? Why am I so ugly on the inside. I live in Canada and I love the history of the USA, and the way you present it makes it all the more enjoyable. Perhaps those who don't like your work should just get lost! Keep them coming! I am age 81 and my wife is 75, getting close to the end of life problems. Today, Friday we drove down to Purdy & Walters cemetery
called Floral Hills. Mom and I have been considering Cremation rather then ground burieal. We have no relatives or family in or near
Everett, Wash. Our only son lives in Vancouver, Wash. We purchased two plots 26years ago for about $7000. We were told that each
single spot today would cost $15,000 and our total package would be $40,000. Who can afford to die ? We saw so many huge and fancy
head stones, inlaid pictures, designs, polished marble or granite. They all are beautiful to see but why? Just for some relative or rare friend
who might go to the cemetery to visit you. I can get a nice marker for free from the military, or just an urn to plant somewhere. I don't need a
marker for some stranger to walk buy and say, wow, that is really something. I am entitled to a free spot because of military service.

While listening to the good comments I found myself smiling about most of them and there were a few that actually brought tears. Then the bad comments came - my jaw dropped. It's really hard to believe we have people that horrible walking around. The comment about the 4 young Highway Patrol officers who were gunned down was totally disgusting. Like you said there are bad apples in any profession but I believe most of the law enforcement officers are there because they want to help people. On a lighter note - I love your channel and enjoy getting to travel all over the country with you and Sarah seeing places wouldn't have a chance to visit. And I like your hair style - don't change it!

I grew up in Southern California and love your videos. Hearing details about many places I have visited there is very interesting. I am 80 and have lived in Texas since I was 19 years old. I love Texas just as much as I love California. I have many happy memories of camping trips with my family and day trips to Mojave desert, the mountains and fishing in the Pacific Ocean. Jeff, a higher percentage of these disgusting comments are probably AI bots, albeit with some jackass sending them forth. And, once a YT channel becomes super successful like yours (passing the 100K mark) you're a huge target. Frankly, I wouldn't put it past YT with their 'algorithm' mindset to be behind some of it.
As for me, I've told you numerous times that you have a fabulous voice, so calming to listen to. I even mentioned that I hoped you had read happy bedtime stories to your kids when they were little because it would have been so soothing for them. Hi Jeff and Sarah! Just wanted to say that I enjoy your videos and that you do a wonderful job of filming and narrating. I grew up in Modesto, but have lived in Ohio for the past 45 years, your videos and stories often take me back to a place and time in my life that I remember fondly!

Jeff, as I have said many times over the past couple of years since stumbling across your Channel, it is always one of the best history telling channels out there. Yes, we all mistakes. So far I have found less than a handful. Personally, I have learnt so much history that has very obviously been researched in great detail before production.

Greetings my friend. My wife and I love History and love to hear about where we grew up. Every story has one of our own stories, so we talk about where "we" were there. Keep doing what you do. Not everybody is made for History (it likely could be demonstrated in their school grades) but we are. Every story from Waterford, Hughson or Modesto is fun as we still have family all over there. Also, after 20+ years in LE, I have learned to accept not all will like me and say things to try and hurt me. I am just as God made me...

Hey Jeff, in 2021 I went under cancer cirurgy and the 7 days I spent in the Hospital your videos were my entertainment. I'm from Brazil, lived in the USA while studying at the SFUAD in NM, that is why I speak, written and read English just ok.

I've never understood hate comments like these. I'm convinced the ones who posted those extreme comments probably suffer from some sort of mental illness. It's sad that online, those unstable people are essentially given a bullhorn, and their rhetoric can really dominate. But, they're only brave enough to spread their insanity online. Most people outside of the online sphere, regardless of their leaning, don't subscribe to those ideas.
Anyway, I've only commented a few times on your channel, but I've followed your work for a while now and really appreciate your passion for history, and as an Oakdale resident I really love to learn more about our local history. Keep up the good work and don't let the haters get you down.
