Reation to the classic Metallica by Vin and Sori
In the song; he's old and tired now, he's waiting to die after never realizing himself. That's why the song is bitter but not too aggresive.
Good call !!
If You Want Calmer Metallica
Nothing Else Matters And The Unforgiven
A truck?
A truck??
27 years I’ve been listening to this song. That’s not a god damn truck lol.
I am the truck
I AMM THE TABLE
But yeah that's a trumpet or sum
Think it’s a pitch pipe. From memory the note is an E
Definitely one of their most powerful songs. At least to me. Goosebumps when I hear this song
I cried the first time actually read the lyrics along with the song. James Hetfield is such a thoughtful writer. Along with so many other songs, the meaning is open ended and is up to your own personal interpretation.
Sori is right man.... it is a song about a man at the end of his life, regretting not ever becoming his true self.
Black album is one of the best all around sounding albums
and justice for all is the best sounding metallica album despite the volume of the bass
@@ali965 justice is definitely their best album imo
@@excuse.me.sir.not even close. Even tho justice has amazing songs like blackened, dyers eve,one and maybe harvester. I dont care much about the rest.
@@ali965I would maybe agree with you if bass was there
@@Nichwar19 that's how I feel about kill em all. It's a good album but it's definitely the album I revisit the least. I like the black album better.
Much respect to you two! So many reactions channels are all the same but you are creating your own lane with your in depth analysis. Keep it up!
Thank you my man !!
I agree w/ Josh on this. Many talk about the rhythm and what they feel, but you dissect songs more than just rhythm. Also, less Tool, AX7, Slipknot lol
Check out the underground show !
Yeah, you were right about the "Christian Science" thing, not really Christian denomination, but it's still sad that dead faith caused the death of his mother due to something that could've been treated. Also the snake handlers are crazy, they took a text and eisegeted it to fit their inclination
Hurts!!
That "truck" you hear in the beginning is actually a trumpet horn in reverse. Great reaction by the way! Can't wait for part 2! My personal favorite of the 3 since I grew up in the late 90's.
James hetfield is an underrated lyricist. This song admittedly was rather simple but songs like dyers eve or The god that failed are epic especially when you know his christian science upbringing and how his mothers death affected him.
Good point. Very good point !
VinAnd Sori rock stars, religion and their mums........ i see a pattern emerging. Lol. Looking forward to your next video. Goodnight from a cold, windy derbyshire.
I know right?! Lol
Nothing simple about this song. James Hetfield said this was his most emotional song to date.
James and steve harris of maiden the best two songwriters bar none..
I always thought this song was spoken into a mirror. That he was calling himself unforgiven.
Interesting angle
Although that's a cool angle, I'd say that the third is the one that is truly not forgiving himself. Almost revealing that in the first two he was mistaken in who he couldn't forgive. So perhaps that interpretation was true once the trilogy came to an end.
Unforgiven: mad at the world
Unforgiven II: mad at someone really close to him
Unforgiven III: mad at himself
Best song ever made in my opinion.
robert tidwell wtf?
robert tidwell yep they sellout every show😄👍🏼
@robert tidwell It's funny how that comment by you exemplifies exactly what the song is about. Luckily Metallica are in a position where they don't need to pay attention to moronic remarks like yours.
No wtf
Are you drunk?
I missed when MTV played real music like this .. I want those days back 😕😢
Never apologize for "reading yourself into a song." That's what you're suppose to do. That's the entire point of sharing art with someone. It's the whole point of art, period. You go girl! Love you both. Vin, you're a very smart dude. I'd love to hang out with you.
6:34 - 6:51 That's a genuine reaction, feeling the music..no words needed! That's what makes your "reaction" videos better..you are actually listening, feeling and THEN reacting to the music!
Appreciate that my man
I can’t believe that! I think the melodic structure does really fit the meaning of the song, it has those mellow and introspective choruses where he kind of gets locked into his own thoughts of pain, but then it goes into the verses where he sings more angry and the whole music goes more violent, representing the angst and anger of this man. It’s a damn well written song lyrically and musically-wise
Very interesting conversation after you listened to the song. Loved listening to it because you touched on so many important current topics.
My respect for you two!
Love how you react to all!
Metallica is my favorite band. James is a great song writer. One of the greatest things about music is that we can make it our own and put our own life into it. Thanks for doing this. :)
EXACTLY
The best reactions on UA-cam. I Really like how you analyze the song after.
No more lighters , its cell phones now ...😔
Terrible!
Sad but true
a ten Haha! Good one!
I thought the same
You can lite a spliff with a cellphone.......
Another great analysis of one of the greatest rock songs of all time, IMO. Good shit. I'm still over here beating the drum for a review/analysis of PROTEST THE HERO - C'est La Vie!
Yes keep asking !
Looking back at this, I can’t believe it’s been 5+ years that I’ve been watching you guys. That’s just crazy.
This song has what I consider to be Kirks most soulful and spot on solo of his career. It’s just the perfect solo for the song, it fits so well and it’s rich with feeling.
I love watching you jam out to this one, and it's funny how strongly you feel about the song. In my mind this song demonstrates how we are all placed into a set of expectations and cultural norms, that can often feel like a cage or a prison. We all (ideally) need to break out at some point of our lives, and some people can never manage to do so. Perhaps it's about living someone else' life rather than your own, with the natural consequences of sadness or regret. Either way, this set of themes resonate with so many people on a level that is deeply personal.
I'm new to the channel and I love your guy's videos the deep analysis you take into the lyrics is really cool to listen to this is one of my all-time favorite metallica songs just a classic of their discography
I’m not in it to request a song anymore, these videos are always spot on
much respect for you guys! love from serbia! i love the way you analyze tje song to the deeper meaning unlike other people reacting. subbed and liked.
Thank you !
Live in Ireland and followed Metallica since mid eighties and still my fav band. Love stem to them daily and they are the greatest ever in my opinion. Legends.
One of the greatest Metallica songs.
Ahh what a great revisit to a gem. I can totally see where Sori is coming from, but I'm Team Vin on this one haha. another awesome video guys. beautifully dissected, and at the same time loved your analysis and thought process.
Great veiws as always, can't wait for the other 2😉
The 2nd is my altime favorite Unforgiven song
Definitely otw! -Sori🤟🏻
One of the best Kirk solos ever!! Seeing them in 3 days here in Cleveland, Oh. Keep up the good videos. Rock on 🤘
All i know is When you FORGIVE yourself, you GIVE FOR yourself
Makes sense good one !
I love Sori's slightly akward smiles when Vin is shredding his air guitar like a maniac going ISN'T THIS AWESOME, TELL ME IT'S NOT, TELL ME!! You're like me. :)
Hahahha slightly awkward smile lol u got it!!!! -Sori✌🏻
this is the most heartfelt song ever. can't help but to cry.
I really appreciate the insightful commentary here. It's sorta rare to see people who understand that there's a lot of difficult viewpoints on both sides of the line, and having been harassed by both ends, I am happy to know I'm not alone in my views. That metanarrative bit: "Everybody sucks, everybody has done wrong".
Will be a great journey through this trilogy, nice react!
Thank you !!!
This album was my gateway into metal! So many good memories!
you 2 are growing on me.....love reaction videos...this might be a good step to everyone settling the f..k down and learn to appreciate others..........IDK im just hopeful
Im the 2000 like, love you guys! a fan from Chile :D !
The intro is more like the buzz and distraction of life comes zapping to a pause to come to a moment of clarity and focus to face the topics in the song.
Been a while since I have read the lyrics. James has always had deep lyrics. Masterpiece
Nice video. Cant wait for the rest of the trilogy
I had to find the first metallica reaction video... I think this is it?? of all the reaction channels out there this one is my fav. I like fun!
fav band ever!!
I can’t wait til you react to part 2, one of my favorite Metallica songs!!
SOON!
Y'all should react to "know your enemy" by rage against the machine. The guitar in that song is really nice, and it also features Maynard on vocals during the breakdown.
Really ??!
VinAnd Sori yes it is Maynard during the breakdown. There are even a few videos you could find of him performing live with them.
Yes! RATM!!! Try “bullet in your head”
Subbed. Take it like this....Metallica and all metal bands use the music to show the passion of what they feel. You feel one way and then put it to music. I have enjoyed Metallica since 1984 (When I joined the service) and even got the latest album that is also killer.
The 12-step suit is a five song list of songs by dream theater that you should definitely do
True art is in the eye of the beholder. The music can mean whatever it needs to mean to you and you’re both right, aye. Thankfully, 99% of the music Metallica makes is art in its purest form so hell yes for us! Money is on that James wrote this about himself-gotta see it live to see how he presents it and let the energy flow. Welcome to the family.
This song was written so long ago, i can't even fashion what James was thinking when he wrote it. I listened to it today after seeing some posts from a few years ago. And this is only my interpretation of how i hear the lyrics. Cops are trusted in the community, they serve, and they do some dumb shit. Stereotyping. Being labeled. Some of the Blue Law label a man just for fitting a description, and the man just trying to say, hey I've done no wrong. Tensions = Outcome= Unforgiven. That's just the way I interpret it now. I was thinking about the damn movie when I was in my 20's, and how well it fit with the concept of the movie. Remember Ned. Cheers!
Now you shine Sori!
True, Sori, the music is beautiful but it also conveys a sadness that is present in the lyrical content.
I think the melody expresses both exhaustion and rage perfectly.
You guys are the best .it's fun watching your channel..
Metallica rules
It's a beautiful song. Sori, like 'Fade to Black'...another Metallica great song.
Great classic. So much emotion...
Blimey! Sori is so intelligent. She's got the meaning and depth of the song like no one else has.
You guys are awesome, keep up the good work! You might want to check out some Symphony X: Set the World on Fire, Paradise Lost, Accolade or Accolade II
The first line is, "New blood joins this earth, and quickly he's subdued". That sounds like Public School.
Was lucky enough to see Metallica(doing this album), GnR and Faith No More back in the day when they were doing their monsters of rock stadium tours.
Must have been great seeing it live! -Sori✌🏻
One of the greatest pieces of music ever written.
I love your in depth analysis of metal lyrics. I would love to see your reaction to “Leper Messiah” !
Listed!
Too cute the both of you.....KEEP ROCKIN!
Can you guys now see why we metalheads love metal so much. A lot of passion and musicianship goes into these songs? Its not just slapped together like pop and most other genres.
I just found you guys. Only watched the creeping death one and this one. Love it! If you haven't, do johnny cashs version of hurt
Good song, used to do this one on Karaoke lol. I REALLY hope you cover "One".
We will!
Hugely impressed by your in depth dissection of the music after your initial listening, including the lyrics too! For your underground series, I cannot recommend Insomnium enough as their lyrics are pretty amazing imo, if you could check out The Last Statement by them, that would be awesome! Hugely unknown song and they deserved to be recognised imo! New Sub here!
Awesome!!! Appreciate you joining !!
VinAnd Sori Would be great if you did one video on Insomnium, they do have a positive message🤘🏻
Very interesting to watch you listening to this. Totally different to the mind blowning experience of 10,000 days.
you guys are brilliant :)
Why’s that
Great reaction as always. Metallica definitely are one of those bands that seem to attract all type of people. If I was Vin, I'd show her some Danzig. Hell, show her songs like: Twist of Cain, Anything, Cantspeak, Going Down To Die, and/or Let It Be Captured.
Cool !!
I also believe that sometimes fear can stop you from forgiving someone. After a few years of ignoring or not thinking of them thoughts of regret for your part in the separation begin to surface. I guess time changes the narrative and the feeling of the moments that created that unforgivingness that has ate away at you as you remember more clearly the details. A war has two people fighting for their side to be understood and sometimes we just throw our hands up and walk away pissed. I think fear of not being forgiven can stop you from being forgiven -as we give in.
I have been a Metallica fan for years, but or some reason, this time, the lyrics 'to die regretfully, that old man her is me' really stood out this time, and this is the shit that makes Metallica great! they find stuff that hits home better than other bands
I had to give a like when Sori began to sing because of the greatness of this song :)) well and Vin's taste of music was always good ;) :D
He is leaving his old life, it's a sad and bitter song. I agree with both of you. Sori you are right about his parents being overbearing. Vin you are right as in him leaving all that behind.
My personal favorite Metallica song is The Unnamed Feeling, because of what I’ve went through growing up. Though a lot of people disregard everything off of St. Anger.
But the Metallica song I love to jam most is Blackened. That riff is fun to play.
I love watching you two. I have watched so many people react to videos but they monetize the videos so they are constantly pausing the song which drives me nuts. Vin being the fan of the music, introducing Sori to this music and explaining the meaning behind it is refreshing to see and then discussing the lyrics, which I'll be honest as big of a fan of Metallica, I really haven't analyzed the lyrics. It's nice to sit here after all these years with with you two and listen to the music, enjoy it and analyze the lyrics. It's also nice to see people that are new to metal/hard rock, that normally wouldn't be interested in this type of music, take a look at the music and see there is a story behind the lyrics. That opens up a whole new world and the song is no longer noise to those who are not metal fans.
Metallica is very good at composing music that matches the emotion of the song. I know Vin had to explain this to Sori for this song. Unforgiven is actually a sad song which is true. You struggle all your life to please people that you love and that love is never returned. You become bitter and then no longer care. That's sad to me and I relate to this in my own personal life.
Thank you for your kind words ! That’s exactly what I was gunning for !
This album along with Nirvana's "nevermind" is where I stated love music at the age of 10. Coming back from school going through my dad CDs and playing them alone at home.
soriiiiii BEAUTIFULLLLLLL cheers feom Buenos Aires
If you really want to get biblical with Metallica. Creeping death from “ride the lightning”
Listed!
YES! Ride The Lightning is a FANTASTIC song.
Or how about THE FOUR HORSEMEN!!!
Ones A Pretty Deep Song To
🤘🤘🤘
She's correct. It is an "angry" song. Just set to beautiful melody and tempo. He's saying, "You labeled me. I label you! So, I dub thee unforgiven."
Hell ya! Badass. The unforgiven ii is my favorite!
Never heard a truck at the beginning! That's news to me, after 27 years of hearing this song.
Wow guys, your reactions are so deep and food arguments, i been watching some videos and you have a deep knowledge and i respect that a lot. Please react more On Metallica live shows.
Titles ?
VinAnd Sori Master of Puppets Seattle 89...including Jason Newsted Intro, Creeping Death Moscow 91, or maybe a song from the last album Halo on Fire the actual video :)
love you guys, we disagree on a lot of things but could hangout and be friends at the same time. keep it up.
That’s the idea !
Try either Breathe or Hold onto my heart by W.A.S.P. Your channel is superb.Cannot stop watching.Totally respect your views People. Keep em coming!!
You guys should ck out early Metallica. You should give her a tour of Metallica's music. A closed mind is an empty mind. Great video guys🤘
You guys best in "reaction business"! ImI
Appreciate that my man!
Until it sleeps - Metallica could be a good one to assess.
Stumbled upon your channel a few days ago and I absolutely love you both! So refreshing and different
oh really!! well thanks for checking us out!!! I listed the song you asked for!!! -Sori✌🏻
Even when someone is angry about a serious situation for long enough, they often eventually develop sad feelings about it. Over time, you might feel sad about what happened to you Sori.
not to sound weird but Vin reminds so much of my father its crazy, RIP
What a beautiful chorus.
unforgiven, that is
Legit !!
... another great discussion Y’alls! 🤟😎 ... another CLASSIC would be David Bowie’s ‘Major Tom” series!!! ... starting with Space Oddity, then Ashes to Ashes, Halo Spaceboy, and ending with Blackstar (the album he recorded as he knew he was terminal, with cancer)
Awesome video again :D i really love the song as well :) but the song you talk about is called "The God That Failed" when Vin talk about James Hetfields(The singer of Metallica) morther :) will be awesome to see you react to the song :)
Listed!
I like your concept of reviewing songs in series, quite clever. :) an interesting set you could do is either Six Degrees of Inner Turbulance by Dream Theater (it’s actually one song, but it’s tracked as 7 sections each dealing with a different mental health issue) or the “12-Step” Suite by Dream Theater as well (a series of songs spread over 4 or 5 albums that follow the drummer’s journey through the 12 steps of AA as he deals with his alcoholism).
"What's wrong with you, Kanye, you're not black"
This is an important video
True story !!
Finish the vid and see 😉
Good one. I think this is the only channel that I’m willing to watch a video for 30 minutes. Very educated and intelligent people. I would love to see you guys react to “Judas Priest - Rising from Ruins”. It’s off their new album released this year and it it awesome. More like christian heavy metal kind of song. Your breakdown of it would be very appreciated.
Sounds interesting...I’ll add it! -Sori🤟🏻
You guys have got to do welcome home sanitarium, pretty pleaaasee!!
Beutiful, A master piece.
u should see the video clip, is very interesting...
congratz, great video
Sori is awesome! And if I may be so bold to say, very pretty as well!
Vin- "I dub thee unforgiven for saying that shit"🤣🤣
