I got my 8th pf clear this week, after my static quit during p8s-1… it was a challenging experience, and frustrating, but I feel I became a better player after having put myself through it
I have never (and probably never will) do any real kind of current raiding in XIV. Just listening and watching this video had me cracking up, I loved it. First time seeing a video of yours I believe, but it was beautiful! Thank you for your suffering. :D
I respect your courage and patience and the infinite kind of behavioural people in PF. You have inspired me to do savage tryharding in pf if I dont get an early team for 6.4
Okay ngl. You should make guides for Savage fights. Your voice is perfect for you and your smoll little jokes between the scenes are just awesome! I love your videos man keep continue them! x3
I just started XIV as my first MMO, and I didnt understand 99% of the terminology, but this got me excited for being inevitably stuck doing raids in PF
I do every tier and ultimates only via pf xD I love the hate PF gets, but the bigger issue is the waiting time to create a group. But clearing via PF is pretty decent, I prefer it over statics cause I can play on my own terms/breaks. 5-7 took me 3-4 days via pf, p8s almost 2 weeks tho xD But great video man!
Congrats, I also completed the fight first in pf however I moved on to a static. We have completed it at least 12 times now with my static. It is nice to have consistency with statics.
A note on the part 1 tankbussys: those are a tank swap, not aggro spot 1/2 based. If OT doesn't voke, MT dies. If MT doesn't voke, OT dies. If either tank dies to torches or sunforge, the other tank dies
Yeah, that part was a little poorly worded cause I was thinking of a specific example from very early prog where the MT would die before the OT had stance on, which would lead to the melee getting tankbusted. It used to happen constantly back in week 2 lol
And this type of setting, even on a dumbed down non-savage random LFR style fight (nevermind this clusterfuck), is why I stopped playing the game. Loved and came for the story, left because the combat asks too much of my old, anxious, only-grew-up-playing-mario-and-self-paced-simple-platformers brain and reflexes (nonexistent). Huge props and respect for sticking it out, though, and I'm glad others enjoy it. But unless they add an equivalent 'story mode difficulty' like single player games do these days, I'll sadly never experience any of these types of games again. Thus, I continue to experience the game and the e-world I came to love through videos like yours. So, thank you!
This was me the past 3 weeks! I was on enrage prog for 3 weeks spending every night trapped with PF "clear" groups that would die to NA1/HC1 for an hour then disban. Finally went in with a FC friend who created a duty complete group and beat it in like 3 pulls. Great video BTW.
So, I don't play FFXIV, and I don't really have much understanding of most things that were explained in this video, however, I guess I just have to not suck and I'll be a god at this game. Highly informative, and entertaining
I'm curently doing P9S and i am so used to pay attention to the cast bars that i didn't know about the enemy actuons chat log. Thanks for teaching me something new through your suffering.
I think I commented on a previous video for yours about this, but I cleared 8 in PF as well. It was very challenging but was very happy to finally clear it.
@@celcius_87 uhh about 2 weeks? I started on about week 3 of the tier, but by week 4 i had a medical thing happen so i was out till like the end if October and cleared about a week once I got back to it.
This is the reason I thoroughly enjoy videos of savage content, and personally never run savage content. I know I am not good enough to remember all this without over-stressing my head. Props to all who clear stuff like this. 😀
Haha it's easier than it looks. The way you remember all of this is simply, you die over and over to the first mechanic for about 5-20 pulls until it sinks into muscle memory. Then you go to the second mechanic and die another 5-20 times until you learn that. And you do that for multiple sessions. I progged this fight both in pf and with a casual static, and the static took roughly 400 pulls to get our first clear. As mentioned, we're casual, so that number is at the high end; there are obviously far more skilled players who can manage it week one. But my point is, you don't actually need to have a particularly good memory or be that good. You just have to be very patient. The fight looks overwhelming when presented all at once, but it's a lot less so when each lockout usually has you learning only 1-2 major mechanics at a time
@@JelisW True patience, the keyword which a lot of people cant be bothered with, unfortunately. I am refering to the people that always need it asap and transform into hellfire once mistakes set in.
@@Lyu-Phy oh yeah. And like, I understand deciding to leave when there are clearly people who joined a pf well ahead of their prog point and are griefing, but if we're seeing prog point reasonably frequently, like, just let the one or two snake memes go man

Tip for anyone still progging or planning to for future raids: Enrage Prog is not a thing unless very early in the last fight of the tier. The reason you see so many memes in enrage parties is because the only reason they are seeing enrage is because of all the deaths on early mechanics. Avoid these groups like the plague.
as someone who also cleared P8S via party finder (on EU tho so we had funny markers and raidplans), yeah P8S was the worst part of the grind, especially P1 (as usually the P2 pain was off-set for me absolutely loving the fight), especially since as i am a BLM main though not gonna lie, and i'm not sure if this goes for anyone else, but a lot of my deaths in both phases was because of me panicking and overthinking some mechanics when things really were just simple what did help was having chill people who i was raiding with most of the time, getting to shoot the shit with people is always pretty fun
The more I watch this, the more I realize that I'm probably only ever gonna do high-end raids in a static. Not just for my own sanity, but also for my own self-esteem.
P8S = old Ultimate difficulty level, just shorter (& occasionally more forgiving).., this is the hardest savage tier from a mechanical aspect, in years / since multiple expansions
(before watching the video) I'm not gonna lie, I grinded this fight in November for a whole week, 8 hours straight every day. Half of my time usually went with recruiting people only, since it was just a pain to assemble a team to prog it, let alone clear. Funny thing is, I completed the fight on my Sam after that week of grinding in pf, but after that I went on to my Whm the very next day, and I'm not kidding, I cleared it on my first pull, without anyone making any mistakes neither on P1 nor on P2. It was a well-oiled-machine, and I loved it. I actually love the fight a lot, but you definitely need a static if you want to save your braincells D:
My memory always goes blank doing progress when I most need to remember something, this happens until I about 6/10 good attempt going through set mechanics. Which Is a main reason why I haven't tried any savages yet let alone ultimates, hate the thought of potentially wasting peoples time. Hopefully someday In the future I'll have mustered abit more courage to give these difficulties a try, love the fights themselves.
I don't even like the game, hell I don't even know what is even going on fully in the video. Yet, by some miracle, this pint sized deep voiced dungeon destroyer has managed my full 5 minutes of ADHD attention span solid. Quite possibly one of the best videos I've ever seen.
I did my 8th and final clear for the book last week. Never again (outside of my static that’s on animals 2). BiS’d my main and alt. I don’t know what was more frustrating, learning the fight and finding parties at your specific prog point and actually reaching that prog point, clearing, or the last few reclears this last month with PF randos that got late carried and made “weekly reclears” look like snakes 1 prog or fresh phase two prog. T.T

I cleared this at a decent time in the tier, got my 8 clears and stopped doing it. The last 3 clears I got though were painful because even reclear parties were full of people who had no idea what they were doing. One week it took me 16 hours of pulls to clear in reclear groups. The later in the tier you try to do the fights, the worse the players are, so I commend you for managing to clear this late.
The most hilarious non-guide of P8s out there, and oddly cathartic after months of wiping and re-progging due to several replacements in my static. 😉
Cleared Mount Ordeals Extreme in PF only but it was my first real challenge ever in this game so it is I who was slow and thank everyone who stuck it out as I learned! So so grateful for practice groups in PR.
Not to down you or anything, but mount ordeals is very low difficulty for an extreme, if you want a harder one and MORE FUN do barbariccia and u'll see how fun it is and how bad mount ordeal is
@@grimacetexas9719 I feel barbariccia is way easier than rubicante.
@@LordRobaZe i feel like barbariccia is more honest, you have more leeway and error margin, but she's so much more fun and engaging, rubicante is super easy and there are little mechanics. Barba is not hard, but she's more fun imo
@@grimacetexas9719 I feel rubicantes mechanics are more confusing and hard to grasp. I still cant understand the wheel attack at all, brain doesnt go that fast.
@@LordRobaZe but u can just put a dorito on someone head and have him do half the fight for the whole party.
I will say, I did this whole tier in party finder. Week 1 I cleared p5-p7. I went into p8 and finally cleared about a week ago, I had to take a month off because party finder made me want to die (: the end. I AM A PF WARRIOR AND WILL CONTINUE TO HATE MYSELF AS A PARTY FINDER SAVAGE RAIDER.
Same, I cleared p5-p7 week 1 and then stopped playing the game due to uni. Came back last week and the PF has transformed from helpful and competent groups to 4K planet of the apes premieres
I took a month off after the first few weeks because the DPS check had most groups walled in phase 1. Turned out to be a mistake lol
I lost it at the "dummy thicc" part. I want all raid mechanics to be explained to me in this format
I got my 8th pf clear this week, after my static quit during p8s-1… it was a challenging experience, and frustrating, but I feel I became a better player after having put myself through it
You're making some raid guides that are actually fun to watch.
I love your videos man keep continue them! x3
Fellow Scholar who just cleared P8S in PF today, all this is 100% accurate
i need every boss done by cider spider now, this is an amazing guide
I just started XIV as my first MMO, and I didnt understand 99% of the terminology, but this got me excited for being inevitably stuck doing raids in PF
I do every tier and ultimates only via pf xD
I love the hate PF gets, but the bigger issue is the waiting time to create a group. But clearing via PF is pretty decent, I prefer it over statics cause I can play on my own terms/breaks.
5-7 took me 3-4 days via pf, p8s almost 2 weeks tho xD
But great video man!
Congrats, I also completed the fight first in pf however I moved on to a static. We have completed it at least 12 times now with my static. It is nice to have consistency with statics.
Man I just watched a 20 min video on a game I don’t understand let alone play. Keep ‘em coming
No joke. This is therapy for me in a nutshell and legit a good guide.
This video gave me ptsd flashbacks. Thanks for the upload!
This is the hardest tier they released and you committed to the PF bit. I commend you.
Congrats Cider on the clear
Alright, NOW this is the real content here.
Congratz, welcome to PF savage raid prog clear group.
P8S hardest mechanic are snakes. Took me 2 weeks to clear this on PF
This was me the past 3 weeks! I was on enrage prog for 3 weeks spending every night trapped with PF "clear" groups that would die to NA1/HC1 for an hour then disban. Finally went in with a FC friend who created a duty complete group and beat it in like 3 pulls. Great video BTW.
congrats
So, I don't play FFXIV, and I don't really have much understanding of most things that were explained in this video, however, I guess I just have to not suck and I'll be a god at this game.
Highly informative, and entertaining
This guy is a master class in how to do crude comedy without using crude words. A shame that this is such a rare talent.
I also cleared this fight in PF.
I feel seen. I feel validated.
Thank you for your sacrifice.
how long did it take you?
@@celcius_87 uhh about 2 weeks?
I started on about week 3 of the tier, but by week 4 i had a medical thing happen so i was out till like the end if October and cleared about a week once I got back to it.
always awesome to watch and rewatch, always laugh at it, I can't wait for the next parody video about the next upcoming tier !
Abyssos was my first savage tier in NA and it was one hell of a ride, I think Dominion wipes made me a more bitter person overall
Thanks for reminding me I'm never actually doing savages until they become old content
And like, I understand deciding to leave when there are clearly people who joined a pf well ahead of their prog point and are griefing, but if we're seeing prog point reasonably frequently, like, just let the one or two snake memes go man
5:00 I can't believe you actually remembered and referenced that song.
Fucking amazing lmao I love it.
Progging this fight to completion was a gods-damned nightmare.
Damn, I was doing this wrong by sucking. Could have needed that advice to not suck earlier. Thank you for this jewel, Cider. That was the greatest summary one could ask for.
The best ASMR video honestly.
Your voice is as smooth as warm butter on a freshly toasted bagel, and as sweet as dripping honey on a delicious flakey pastry.
I think you might just be hungry
grats good sir. With this, you now have a mental fortitude of a tank
I have the mental fortitude of a healer.
@@CiderSpider that's the chaddest of the gigachads. My apologies for making the wrong statement.
as someone who also cleared P8S via party finder (on EU tho so we had funny markers and raidplans), yeah P8S was the worst part of the grind, especially P1 (as usually the P2 pain was off-set for me absolutely loving the fight), especially since as i am a BLM main
though not gonna lie, and i'm not sure if this goes for anyone else, but a lot of my deaths in both phases was because of me panicking and overthinking some mechanics when things really were just simple
what did help was having chill people who i was raiding with most of the time, getting to shoot the shit with people is always pretty fun
Cider needs to do a guide for every fight from ex to savage.
these masterful explanations must be spread far and wide.
The more I watch this, the more I realize that I'm probably only ever gonna do high-end raids in a static. Not just for my own sanity, but also for my own self-esteem.
Props to you, I gave up on P7S PF in the first week and went back to my static, I appreciate your suffering so I can have a glimpse of hell.
P8S = old Ultimate difficulty level, just shorter (& occasionally more forgiving).., this is the hardest savage tier from a mechanical aspect, in years / since multiple expansions
I did too on JP elemental. Its more consistent since strats are more streamlined and players just follow those.
Cleared and geared this entire tier in PF, and can say that this is accurate
scripe must be feeling pretty good that he got a widely used PF strat named after him
I didn't know I needed epic movie trailer voice making jokes in my life until now
I don't play this game, but I enjoy watching the shmol person explain things 😃
Im glad the small managed to get past all those snakes.
oh lord this is amazing!!! cograts on the clear!!
I'm just starting ShB, have never done an extreme, and my mind is turning over trying to comprehend this fight.
Man... if you made guides in this style for every fight in the game, I would remember every mechanic effortlessly.
Insane dedication. Huzzah huzzah huzzah!
Greatly enjoyed the jokes :D
The fight isn't difficult but the pf is what makes it difficult, totally agree
The comedy was golden my dude.
Loved this one, smiled the whole way through. GGs eyebrows.
A true distillation of the pain and suffering of all us PF raiders
never knew I needed this as a p8s guide
ty for this very entertaining video! I hope one day to be as brave as you and try out Savage PF Ultimate
14:26 that is heartbreaking
19:10 I like the ifrit+garuda just chilling here, not even trying to mix to make their feather, and it just falls off.
Samurai didn't want to move because LB, white mage didn't move because heals. We disbanded right after lmao
Ah yes. Party Finder Savage, that's lore accurate pain if ever I've seen it.
the "id rather fail the mechanic 100 times" got me lol
I literally have never done a savage raid, nor do i plan too, and have no idea whats happening in the fight. Yet this video is still incredibly entertaining.
Cider and the Mad Baby suffer so we don't have to. Another great video.
I can't even clear P5S on party finder. You have my total respect for being able to clear P8S on PF.
