Worth noting, as Cider Spider was talking about with Scholar auto-attacks hitting surprisingly hard at lower levels, Summoner has the same base strength and can also get a good bit of extra damage that way.
On a related note, if you are synced to level 46-53 on SCH, you get more autos by spamming Art of War instead of Ruin, and they have the same potency at that level, so it's a DPS gain on 1.
I can't not hear the "Tell me, for whom do you simp" Whenever I hear Gaius start his speech... JoCat really did a number on my perception of the boss and hearing an altered dialog of this always makes me rember.
I had that modded into my game for a while, but the timing was off enough that I was getting out of that cutscene embarrassingly late and I ended up taking it back out!
2:42 Had Gaius down to 0.1% on a couple of occasions before the blade charging attack, and he's basically immortal before then. After that a simple book bonk can finish him off.
6:15 My philosophy is: every second you don't use that LB is a second the next one isn't charging. So as a caster main I'll LB on the first pull after it fills, meaning sometimes twice in a single dungeon. Bosses in 60+ content are usually long enough that you'll get an LB1 from an empty bar anyway.
"My cup runneth over with x" insert fire, ice or lightning. That's what one of the mechanics used to be. You had to MATCH his element of you couldn't damage him and instead would hurt yourself.
@@Zyart So many edges have been sanded down from older content so that AI bots can correctly work out where to stand & when, and it's sad cause I think a lot of the charm has gone with them. Every boss is starting to feel the same.
@@Daniel-qt5ib My buddies and I are ARR vets. One of them is taking his S/O through the campaign for the first time. It's been eye opening, and not in a good way, when we run through dungeons with her and go "What... happened here?!"
> I don't know if there's a speedrunning record of Gaius van Baelsar, but I'm feeling pretty optimistic about our time There is a speedrun record for Praetorium, and I'm the WR holder :) That did look like a pretty quick Gaius, 43 energy when you kill the last phantom means that phase was only like 7 seconds behind the record. In the record we got Gaius down to 0.1% HP before the Phantoms even spawn, which causes him to drop dead instantly after doing his big attack lmao.
Fun fact about Gaius speech for those who don't know. There is a version of the speech made by a group in Discord. It is as cahotic and hilarious as you can expect one video of such type to be.... And it somehow is SHORTER than Gaius normal speech.
something to note with Scholar too, until you get Broil, Art of War is plus on 1 with auto attacks, since casting delays your auto and AoW is instant cast and same potency as ruin, might as well AoW.
for stormblood levelling, anata tribe also is about half a level a day. That, levelling, alliance, and frontline roulettes combined can get around 2 levels a day.
Same I would do laundry, like starting the washer, by Nero transfering in Dryer lol For when I would ran it at nights, I would wash my teeth and face lmao
27:51 You can stun Ifrit's attacks. Maximum uptime! You can also negate his knockbacks with shields. It's one reason why I like getting this trial as a sage.
If it's off brand frosted flakes, then that's the choice. The flakes are usually thicker so they take longer to get soggy. Otherwise, Lucky Charms sweeps.
"Do they need to idiot proof them that much?" Yes. 1000 times yes. There are some painfully stupid people in this game. They might make a better idiot who somehow still fails, but the red text really is necessary especially early on.
Plus, it's Halatali, pretty sure that's the lowest level duty that text can show up in, so it might be the first time a player's had something that they needed the red text for
same, if any dungeon boils my blood it's Keeper of the lake.. i continously get it. and the only boss i don't mind in that one is the last one other than that i just hate it
I personally like the Halatali changes, especially the second and final boss. I never knew the invulnerability hinged on the Fire Sprite, and sometimes it felt like it would stay an extra couple seconds after all the adds were gone? I dunno, I prefer the visual clarity over trying to see whether it's down yet.
Another thing about Caster LB -- in Praetorium, Caster LB1 can hit both Phantom Gaiuses on the same side of the arena. Very nice for speeding up that part of the fight! And if you're ranged, please, for gods' sake, stay close to your healer(s) so they can use their AoEs on the team and not have to single-target you out in BFE.
I cannot fathom choosing Lucky Charms over almost any other cereal, the marshmallow bits have the texture of styrofoam and the non-marshmallow bits are as bland as possible. Frosted Flakes wins that matchup and it's not even a contest, I say.
I know I'm a few days late, but for Cutter's Cry you can actually run straight to the second boss immediately after the first boss. Just don't fight anything in between and go through the sand holes.
A lot of people tend to not care or notice when a boss is invulnerable. People would still hit the Halatali boss while doing nothing to it. Same thing would happen with just about any other boss that has some kind of invuln and at least in my experience will ignore anyone pointing said fact out.
It's about 50/50 whether people will attack the Vortex Barrier in the Ultima Weapon fight. I think when people notice I'm just standing around dancing they tend to go "oh...okay, guess we can't do damage."
6:50 I was actually explaining this to a bard last night, after I pulled a pack into a narrow hallway that he could hit everything. He didn't believe :(
Merry Chisma everyone. Also on the auto attack thingie, iirc Art of War has the same base damage as your ruin at lvl 50, but AoW being insta cast doesn't cancel your autos like casting ruin does. Been a while since I've done anything at lvl50 tho, so I'm not 100% sure on that.
I can hear Gaius’s voice in the back of my mind like an infestation of my thoughts… “Tell me, for whom do you fight?” …The long dps queues only to be Praetorium fill me with dread.
honestly I still prefer hitting Praetorium over Castrum Meridianum. At least you can afk during the cutscenes and the bosses are easy anyways. The endless mob waves in Castrum are just so mind blowingly boring
real.. for me it's not just prae but also keeper of the lake ngl.. for whatever reason it haunts me.. cuz every single time i queue up high level dungeons i get keeper of the lake.. at least for prae i can turn my brain off and zone out half the duty..
I also ran StB dungeons for levelling all of my jobs from 61-70. The number of times I had to run through sirensong sea, especially when I was just trying to grind a class at the end of the week so I could get a little more out of a book turn in... I would be fine with never having to see another stormblood dungeon again
I still like the Stormblood MSQ dungeons, especially Bardam's Mettle and Shisui of the Violet Tides. Just really visually cool and I love the Heiga--I mean Bardam Dance. Lucky Charms, easily.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, Cider!
Remember us. Remember we once were glib.
Happy holidays!

I haven't run Preatorium since before the changes, boy, they sure increased the amount of glib by an order of magnitude.
Thank you for the "glib" this Christmas!
i fkn love it when you get prae or ultima weapon, you are so creative with the cutscene editing. merry christmas yourself
I will forever love the cuts to Smile. Thank you

Merry Christmas Cider you goober baby.

Merry Christmas Cider! A new mentor video is the best gift of all. My own mentor grind is nearly coming to an end, sitting at 1,548 currently.
HOLY GOD I was NOT prepared for that Porta cutscene!! I was listening in my car and almost had to pull over! 😂
That Speen edit was glorious. You saved us all!
After continuing to get walled on towers, this was a nice Christmas surprise.
Happy Christmas!
The Ultimate Weapon cut scene surprise caught me off guard, choked on my drink...fucking hell
not having a portrait brings you great shame. I cannot leave a like.
oh wait it's Christmas. I'll leave one, but not next time

I miss that so much. So many dungeons have been changed because they couldn't program trusts to work with them, and it's kinda sad.
